Nokia N-80 (v 4.0707.0.7 -- 28.3.2007)

Has updated N80 up to last insertion (4,07,07,0,7) function USSD has ceased to work!!!! How to roll away an insertion back on the old version?
EDIT: Removed non-English content and contact details.Message Edited by mercurius on 04-Jun-2007 04:55 PM

sorry to say mate.. but there is no way to rollback to an older firmware... because of these new models... any attempt to use an older firmware will brick your phone i.e. make phone become as useless as a builder's brick.
be patient for the newer firmware to come out.. hopefully soon. I'm same situation as you my friend.

  • N80 4.0707.0.7

    Hi,
I 'upgraded' my nokia N80 to version 4.0707.0.7 and find my phone is a lot worse then before.
The Bluetooth looses connection randomly and is crackly at best now, it was bad before but is even worse now !!!
I think in a effort to save battery life they have set the screen to go blank immediately after the time out and the blue led starts flashing. It used to display a moving time bar for a short period before - no longer !!!!
Nokia PC synch stuff stopped working, it could no longer recognise my phone, so I had to upgrade that also.
    SORT IT OUT NOKIA.

    Hi there...
Yupz... i'm totally agreed with rmistry22,
I've listed all my n80 problems here after upgraded my firmware to version 4.0707.0.7 :
-Music player will be open automatically when push n hold the multimedia key. It can't be configured any more... (before it can be configured by pressing multimedia key n select "configure")
-No shutter tone when taking picture in camera modes but in video modes got...
-Wlan scanning : when i select "start browsing" after the scan, there's nothing happen! it doesn't even open a web browser too... sumtimes when surfing it say "no wlan found... bla bla bla" (it's really hard to get a stable connection which is easy before...)
-The other thing is, i'm from Malaysia and i'm using Maxis Hotlink network... when i dial *122# to check a balance of my prepaid there's nothing happened also... (blank screen) i mean no dialog box appear... i don't know why... this is not happened with my previous firmware before this v4.0707.0.7...
I hope nokia will update the firmware for us...
This is WISHLIST for the next firmware:
    -Fix a calendar
-more stable n fix all the bugs

  • N80ie V 4.0707.0.7 important bug

If you key something like *123# (send) to access operator info (like credit balance) sent by special flash message, it doesn't work.
    It says "Requesting..." then nothing!!!
    Ideas?
    MrAnderson

Although most people do not use the short code very often, but this is the essensial function of the phone. I am sure nokia engineer is working on it. by the way I just found another bugs with s60 internet radio, I am not sure if it's the nokia or the software. Everytime I am listening to the internet radio and there's a incoming call, an "error not connecting to server code -13" is popup then disappear. It didn't happen when I got the old firmware.

  • Nokia 770: Can't Surf The Net In Hotels

When trying to connect my Nokia 770 Internet Tablet while in hotels, I find that my success is hit and miss. But I can use a laptop and connect. The difference is the browser on the laptop defaults to a web page from the ISP where I have to agree to some terms before being allowed to surf the net. How do I get to this default page with the Nokia 770?Message Edited by cxbank on 26-Jan-2007

Well, both really. Sometimes I can open the browser and surf for a while fine, then it hangs. Other times it hangs as soon as I open the browser. I've also noticed that the iTunes visualizer hangs unless it is in full screen mode. It never used to do that. In fact, I used to have trouble getting a full screen visualizer, now it's all I can do. Windows is updated. I suppose I could try sound and video card updates.

  • Nokia 6300, iSync, and Contact Photos-

Thanks to the following links, I was able to get my new Nokia 6300 to successfully sync with my Mac’s Address Book via iSync:
    http://klauskjeldsen.dk/2007/06/08/free-nokia-6300-isync-plugin/
    http://nokia6300.net/8/new-version-of-the-nokia-6300-isync-plugin
    http://brent.kearneys.ca/technology/2007/how-to-sync-a-nokia-6300-on-osx/
    http://kaspers.freeflux.net/blog/archive/2007/04/13/how-to-isync-a-nokia-6300.html
Unfortunately, two things didn’t sync up: Birthdays and Contact Photos. After politely asking people if there was any way to get these to work (especially photos, as it’s nice to see someone’s picture pop up on the phone for faster recognition before you unceremoniously reject them) I tried to tackle this one on my own. I was able to dig around in the plist files of the Nokia N93 and glean the few lines that make both of these details available to the Nokia 6300 plugin.
Before we begin however, I’ve noticed some problems that can occur with Photo syncing. PLEASE READ THIS THOROUGHLY before continuing: it’ll save some head-banging and frustration later.
Failing to follow the following guidelines will result in a completely failed sync. Should this happen, I simply deleted all of my contacts on the phone (phone memory, not SIM card), tried to determine the problem, and tried again.
Also, note that if you do end up deleting all of the contacts on your phone, you’ll also lose your 1-touch dialing and the entries in your caller groups (but not the groups themselves).
    Here we go:
Do not use .GIF files — JPG only! (I didn’t test PNG)
You cannot drag-and-drop from a web-page directly onto a contact. Although this works for Address Book in that you’ll see the ‘image edit’ window pop-open, and you can save your contact, when it comes to iSync your entire sync will fail. If you want to use someone’s image (from Facebook, for example) simply drag the photo you want from the web-page onto your desktop, and then drag the photo from your desktop onto the Address Book entry’s ‘contact photo’ area. You’re then free to delete the image from your desktop.
You cannot sync with a ’smart group’ that you created within Address Book. This has more to do with iSync than the new plugin, but it’s a pain nonetheless. Physical groups only!
When a sync fails, you are not told what failed, or why it failed. iSync detailed logs are useless too, stating only:
5:28:24 PM Error [Nokia 6300] An unexpected error occured.
5:28:24 PM Error Device "Nokia 6300" synchronization failed
Fun! What I did was create a ‘temp’ group, set iSync to sync with that folder only for contacts, and then slowly add contacts into that temp group until a failure occurred so that I knew what the offending entry was.
The plugin that I’ve created is essentially just the one from the site listed above, but with some additional properties put into the PhoneContuit.plist and SyncEngine.plist files.
As with everyone else, I take no responsibility if this completely fcks up your phone or Address Book, but please do backup both your Address Book (File -> Back Up Address Book…) and your phone’s contacts (I typically just copy everything to SIM). I can say that this has worked fine for me for a day now, with a fair bit of testing. After I cleaned up my offending image-entries, it’s been great.
To install: Quit iSync, download the following zip file, and drag-and-drop the plugin into your system using the shortcut, and sync away.

Hi! I can't download your Plugin for the Nokia 6300. Could you upload it again?
    That would be very kind!
    Thanks a lot!

  • N80 vista x64 portable device driver

    Hi,
When connecting the N80 to USB and selecting "Media Player" mode, vista doesnt find an appropriate driver. I installed nokia suite 6.83. I remember that this worked at somepoint, but I somehow managed to delete the nokia n80 entry via uninstall from the Device Manager->Portable Devices. It now shows up under Device Manager->Other Devices with an "exclamation mark". If I right-click and do an "Update Driver Software...", vista doesnt find anything. Forcing it to use the "Portable Devices->Nokia Windows Portable Device Driver" doesnt really help either: windows media player 11 doesnt show the device to sync with.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

I am in USA on T-mobile network. I recently updtated my N80 to the latest firmware 4.07.XXX. Everything worked fined especially VoIP features. However, I used short cut code for example like #MIN# to get my min usage status for my acct. It sends the message but not receive back the message like it used to be. Is anybody have similar issue? None of the short code is working on my phone.

  • N80 Media player exclamation mark flaw

    Hello everyone,
Just found a bug in the built-in media player (or media library, I think it's a part of the player): when the filename includes an exclamation mark (!) the media library refuses to read the ID3 tag (or whatever tag the AAC and M4A files have) and places the song in the Unknown [artist|album|style|etc.] sections of the library. Removing the exclamation mark fixes the problem.
I'm using the latest version of the firmware (5.0719.0.2). This problem exists since the 4.x versions.
It's not such a big flaw but it's kinda annoying, took me some time to find out what caused this, even made me format my card...
Anyway, I'm posting it so that I save someone some trouble.
And, of course, a fix in the next version of the firmware (if any) would be great.
    Greets,

  • N80 wifi/wlan problem since f/w upgrade

I am trying to connect a N80 firware v4.0623.0.42 (20-09-2006 RM-92 Nokia N80 33.01) to a WLAN but can't even scan for available WLANs - it just responds no availalable WLAN networks.
I installed the Nokia WLAN wiz and "no WLAN found".
I have since removed all router security so its an unsecured, public, unfiltered home wireless lan using a linksys router. A PSP connects fine, as does a laptop but the n80 refuses to find any access points. I have created IAP searched for the WLAN and it finds nothing, I then specify the SSID - still nothing. Change to static IPs - nothing. use the Nokia WLAN wiz to scan ... you guessed it nothing.
When I try to creat a new IAP the phone hangs with "application busy"...I press the red button and can edit the IAP settings.
    Any ideas?
    Paul.

  • N80 problems after last FW update

    I have the following phone:
    Type:RM-92 (N80-1)
    Code:0527480
    FW version:V 4.0707.0.7 (28-03-2007)
After upgrading to this firmware, I was faced with two rather irritating problems.
    1) I've made a backup of the phone. After upgrading the FW, I restored the backup. Now, when I power up the phone, it says "Installing" after it boots up. Then, after a couple of seconds it says "Untrusted software found on memory card, install manually blah-blah". I installed all but one of these "untrusted" files, but I cannot remove from the list one which I no longer need. Application manager is set to allow all aplications and never check certificates online. Question is how to remove this sis file which I no longer need and which is, probably, causing this to happen.
And a mental note to Nokia, if they ever bother to read this - don't try to make the phone smarter than it should be - if I say I want to allow installation of all software, do not bother me with "untrusted" stuff.
    2) a bigger problem is that service commands do not work. Tried entering them on the standby screen and from messaging/options, same thing happens. The phone says it's "requesting" the wanted data, but no reply from my service operator appears on the screen. It's not a probem with the operator, as other phones work correctly

  • IPod commands in phone not working in 7 as they did in 6

I upgraded my phone to ios7 and since then I've rarely been able to turn on the ipod app using the earbuds or by bringing them up on the screen without opening the phone and going into iPod.  These always worked ok in the previous ios.  When I open the phone and go into iPod the screen will no longer show what is currently playing and is back at the playlist.  If I'm listening and answer a phone call with the earbuds it will start back up ok after the call is disconnected but not if I've stopped the iPod and gone back to it later.  Any idea if this is just the way iPod works with 7 or if something just isn't working right?  If I use the pullup menu when the phone is locked it will rarely show the title of what I'm listening to, this is when it'll show only the playlist when I open the app.  Occasionally it will show the title so it seems the on button should work but nothing happens when touched other than it will blink.
There are other differences in how the iPod works too.  I listen mostly to books and previously it would show the book part as chapters so you could go back just a chapter or wherever you wanted and now it just shows the entire part of the book.  Audible splits them into two or more parts if they're longer than 8 hours.

This phone is triband, not quadband (it doesn't have 850 MHz). Looking around the chatboards, you will see that this can cause problems in North America, since it will struggle to work on 1900 only. Most of T-Mobile's "coverage" seems to be provided by roaming on other networks! So you probably just need to have roaming enabled on the SIM card. Anyway, it isn't Nokia's problem.Message Edited by doechr on 14-Feb-2007

    Hi 2 all!
Today I have updated my N80 SW to the version to 4.0623.0.42. As it shows NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER this is the newest avaliable version. Actually i have not noticed any noticeable changes. The reason of updating was the hope of increasing of the worsest Nseries Video Quality. But there are no fix of it...
But some members of Nokia Discussion Forum already got the newest version 4.0632.0.38. (which includes a dozen of fixes. Please look on here
EDIT: removed link to unauthorised website - Damocles
My question is how I can get it on my n80. Sofware Updater tells me that currently version is the newest one and is already installed.

I dont know if there is MAC adress filtering (Also nobody knows where the Spot is located. The building where I work has many floors and is very big. I also will not ask IT-Adminst about this spot, because I think they will then block it for regular users like me ) Is there a way to detect MAC adress Filtering without asking somebody?
After Installing WLan wizzard it founds Wlan network. Then I define it as an access point and choose Browse web. An error message appears: "Unable to connect: WLan Network not Found". And This spot dissapears for 4-5 Minutes again
The same problem occures with another WiFi spots (in Cafe's with wifi zones).
It makes me very nervous, beacuse one of the big reason of buying N80 was WiFi support
    Any other Solutions?
