Nokia N70 - PC Suite 6.70.22 connectivity problem

Please help!
I am running Windows XP and have installed Nokia PC Suite 6.70.22 but it will not detect my Nokia N70.
Whenever I try to "Get Connected" it searches for a phone but just hangs and never finds it.
In Control Panel - Phone and Modem Options - Modems there is no mention of a Nokia modem. Should there be?
Under System - Device Manager there is also no mention of Nokia. Should there be?
Am I missing some drivers? How can I tell which one I should have or where they should be?
I am also running Norton Anti-Virus/Firewall 2006 but I opted for "allow connection" when it asked me.
As an aside, I have also installed Samsung PC Studio for use with my Samsung D600 but the PC won't detect that phone either.
Also, I have a Nokia 7250 and a DKU-5 cable but guess what? That doesn't work either!
Which leads me to think it's the PC not the phones/software.
Any clues anyone?

I would suggest uninstalling PC Suite, disconnceting from the Internet, disable Norton and any other antivirus and firewall software, install PC Suite again and get your phone connected. Once it;s working, re-enable your security software again before going back online.
Yes, in phone and modem options you should get an entry indicating either Nokia or Bluetooth modem... or however you are connecting.
In Device Manager you should have an entry for wireless communication devices and you should also have an entry under modems...
Your other phone suites could also be causing conflicts... I would suggest starting off with having only 1 installed at a time... then when you get that working, you could try adding another and see if they both work ok when installed together.

  • Nokia N70 and Pc Suite 6.6 not connecting properly

I am having problems connecting to my phone from windows xp and pc suite.
Whenever i try to "backup" or use "file manager" i get connection errors. Nokia connection manager is showing connected ok. When i click 'file manager' i can see the N70, but as soon as i try to 'explore' it by double clicking i get an error similar to 'Operation could not be completed'. (sorry not at home at the mo, experiencing parity error in my organic memory! ;-p)
    History:
I Previously had Pc suite 5 installed and connected via bluetooth to my Nokia 6600. I believe the problem is the old PC Suite software as I can connect on a works laptop but not from my home pc. I have removed all previous Bluetooth, Nokia software via add-remove programs but still no luck.
I have tried renaming my memory card and even re-formatting and renaming, no luck.
    System Details:
    Windows XP SP1
    PC Suite 6.6 Rev 18
    Nokia N70
    CA-43 usb cable
    v2.0539.1.2 19-10-05 RM-84
Can anyone help? I really don't want to uninstall and re-install windows if i can help it!

sorry, i thought i was replying to a different thread i had allreayd posted my problem in, whihc is...
I had the firmware updated on my N70 today to get rid of the dreaded orange home screen at a nokia dealer, but when I try to connect to my PC it won’t work.
When I first got home and plugged it in via USB windows first told me the USB device was not reqocnised, so I pulled out the cable and put it in as advised. it seemed to be ok then, but just after i went to transfer some music over but it wouldn’t let me (as if my phone was not connected) and PC suit said I didnt have a phone connected, although I could see my phone under 'my computer' but couldn’t transfer any thing over.
So I downloaded PC suite again to make sure I had up to date software and drivers, I already had them it seemed but I unistalled and install them again just in case. But when I come to set up the connection the set up screen simply hangs, although the cable is working as windows makes that noise and it pops up to say N70 found, but then a second later says the install didn’t work, all the time the setup screen still hangs in the background.
I have tried every thing in this thread and others including doing the clean setup from nokia.
    My firmware version: 3.0546.2.3.18-11-05RM-84
    Windows XP SP2
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • Nokia N70 connected in non compatible mode

First here are some facts: Im Using Pc Suite v6.83 on Windows XPsp2. Im using USB cable to connect to my N70.
Now here's the problem: The first time I used PC Suite after Installation, it worked fine. When I used it again the second time, it acted strangely. It didn't detect my phone correctly. It detected the N70 alright, but a baloon popped up from the PC suite Icon on the system tray saying "nokia n70 connected in non compatible mode". Then when I went to the Get Connected wizard, a warning popped up which says "Your phone is in file transfer mode and connot be used with PC suite. quit file transfer mode from the phone if you want to use PC suite". I wonder how could this be since I know that the N70 has no file transfer mode.
Then after finally having my phone detected correctly after diconnecting then connecting the USb cable, my system detected the phone as a digital camera imaging device and as a mass storage device, showing up in windows explorer aside from showing up in the Nokia Phone browser. I Don't think this is a normal bahaviour.
Then the third time I tried to use PC suite, it detected the phone as bing in in non compatible mode again. Yhis time disconnecting and reconnecting the USb cable didn't help.
I found some strange things in the windows device manager too. I found out that under portable device, the N70 was there but disabled and labled as not properly working.
Have you guys encounterd this prblem before? If you did maybe you can help me resolve it. Thanks in advance!

  • N70 & PC Suite - no connection?

My brand new N70 does not find the PC Suite :-( I tried the "Get Connected" with no luck with both cable and bluetooth.
BT seems to be working ok, though, an I can get files to PC using BT.
Any ideas? I soo-oo would like to sync my Lifeblog, too...

    Using Nokia N70
I was used to connect my N70 via USB without any problems, with PCSuite 6.70 (Got within CD).
But when i upgraded my PCSuite 6.70 to PCSuite 6.82, i started to get problems. My PC (both in my Toshiba Laptop & HP Pavilion a1509in) doesn't recogize N70 in USB mode.
Before some weeks i uninstalled the newer version PCSuite (Ver. 6.82) and installed PCSuite 6.70 (got within CD). And again i found the same difficulity to get connected. But yesterday i tried several times switching on - off my mobile and got noticed that my N70 has been connected to PCSuite via USB. I couldn't find what's moving on. What's the problem.
I've contacted Nokia. Hope get a reply from them.

  • Nokia PC Suite Update Connection Problem

My Nokia Pc Suite version 6 worked perfectly from my laptop to Nokia N70 through a USB Bluetooth connection (MSI Bluetooth device and BlueSoleil Software)
I downloaded and installed Nokia PC suite 6.82. The new PC suite opened but when I tried to connect a the following message apeared: "There is no available connection type and therefor connection to the phone cannot be established. The wizard will exit"
BlueSoleil was connected to the phone through the USB device all the time.
I deleted version 6.82 and reinstalled version 6 which now also fails to connect!!!!!!!
    Am I stupid or what!!!

    Hello Everyone
I've been experiencing the same issue (cannot connect to the device or similar message given by the Nokia PC Suite software) for 4 weeks now and until recently put the problem down to the Bluetooth Stack software driver provided by Toshiba with my new laptop. The reason for why I thought it was Toshiba's fault (and spent hours over the last 4 weeks on the phone to their support department) was because each time the connectivity issue arose I managed to resolve it by uninstalling and re-installing the Toshiba Bluetooth stack software driver via the Windows Add/Remove programs which then allowed the PC Suite Software to recognise my Nokia N73 software. I found that reinstalling the Nokia PC Suite software did not resolve the issue although I am convinced that it is the cause of the issue. Therefore, you may wish to try reinstalling whichever Bluetooth driver software (the one provided by your hardware provider or the MS windows one) just to see if this resolves the problem.
Please note though that almost every time that I install new software onto my laptop e.g. anti virus etc the connectivity issue resurfaces and I have to reinstall the bluetooth software to overcome. I have resigned myself to doing this as at least I know that it works although Nokia really ought to fix this once and for all in their software.
By the way, I am also using Nokia PC Suite version 6.82.22.0 and have never had an issue with connecting via a USB cable.
    Good luck!

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

  • Nokia X2-02 PC Suite Connection Problem

My Nokia PC Suite for Nokia X2-02 has been installed but it does not show any connections like USB or Bluetooh.

    Hi jayasree,
Thanks for your post and welcome to our forum.
Did you select the "PC suite" mode when you connected your phone to your PC?  I would advise you to :
Check that you are using the original Nokia USB cable and that the cable is properly connected to the phone and PC.
Disconnect the mobile device and connect it again.
Remove the battery, insert it back again and restart your mobile device.
    Restart your PC.
If Nokia Suite is not able to find your  phone, try reinstalling Nokia Suite software in your PC.
If possible, check if your phone can be successfully connected to another PC.
You can also try to repair your connectivity cable :
    1. Go to Add/Remove programs found in control panel (called Programs in windows 7)
    2. Select Nokia Suite or PC Suite installation and click Change/Remove
    3. From the dialog Choose Repair
    Pfrancoise
If this post has helped you to solve this issue, please press the "accept as solution" icon. Kudos would always be appreciated.

  • Nokia X6 connection problem with ovi suite

I had recenly bought a nokia x6 16gb and I have connection problem with my ovie suite.I am using cable to connect to the pc.When I open my ovie store it says connect ur device under the ovie suit toolbar. And I connect it but it actually worked but it work for about 5sec and it auto dissconnected.I had tried reconnecting it but turn out the same. But when I am using my laptop and I connect it using Bluetooth it work (ONLY FOR TRANSFER SONG AND PHOTO).I cant update my phone software because I am using bluetooth.I also tried using cable to my laptop but it is same like how I connected to my pc.I am using Windows XP SP2(PC).Thank you for those who helped me and spending time reading it.(Reason=Because I wanna update my phone Software).Again Tks

    Hi PhoneNerdies,
Firstly, I recommend to update your Windows XP to Service pack 3. Nokia Ovi Suite do not support fully the XP with service pack 2.
Then use the latest Ovi Suite available, current version is 2.2.0.245 and available from Nokia.com and Ovi.com download pages. You Ovi Suite version you find from help menu and About the Ovi Suite tag.
Then update your X6 to the latest SW available.
After these steps your X6 would work fine.

  • Connection problems PC Suite - Nokia 6630

    Hi,
I cannot get connected via Bluethooth to my Nokia 6630.
    My configuration is:
    Nokia 6630
Widows XP Home Edition Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519 : Serivice Pack 2)
    PC Suite 6.80.22
Bluethooth USB Adaptor Belkin F87001 ver.2.11
When I check on Nokia PC Suite Help 'about Nokia PC Suite' System info it says:
    Microsoft Windos 2000
    Build 2195
    No service pack installed
    and it also says:
    No supported Bluetooth stack found
I have no problems using the Bluetooth USB adaptor for other applications.
The problem with Nokia PC Suite is:
After installing PC suite, I click on 'get connected' button and get the message:
'there is no available connection type and therefore the connection to phone cannot be established. The wizard will exit.' If I then press OK I get the message: 'failed to detect available connection. Please reinstall Nokia PC Suite.'
I have tried to reinstall PC Suite several times but always end up with the same messages.
I have also run the PC Suite Cleaner 3.3 but still have the same messages.
    What should I do?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Hey,
Dont worry, this is an issue alot of people have. I wrote a quick tutorial on how to do this.
I understand that you have Service Pack 2 on your Windows XP am I Correct?
If I am then procede with the tutorial:
Connecting the Phone to a USB Bluetooth Dongle. Using PC Suite.
Yesterday, I stayed up all night to figure this out. I called nokia support to see what they can do, and apparently the new drivers from Sitecom (the BT adaptor that I use) creates a "Cloak" over the Microsoft ones. (This is only if you have SP2!!)
    Required for these steps:
~PC Running Windows XP on Service Pack 2. (how do I know if I have Service pack 1/2? Go to Start > Controll Panel > Classic View (on the top left corner, or if you already are then ignore this) > System. In system it will say which serivce pack you are running.
~PC Suite version 6.80.22 or later.
~Bluetooth Adaptor + Drivers for it
    ~Nokia Phone supporting a bluetooth In/Out connection.
~Patience (this may take half an hour depending on your PC Spec) (Took me 15 minutes)
So here is what I did:
First of all close all programs that you dont need running.
Start > Controll Panel > Add Remove Programs > Sitecom drivers
Remove ALL Sitecom (or which ever company's you use).
    Reboot Computer.
Next put the CD/Floopy in the PC or folder that you downloaded have ready on your desktop, containing the drivers required for your adaptor.
If a autorun comes up cancel it.
Plug in your bluetooth adaptor to a permanent usb port! The port you plug it into will be the only and only port that you can run bluetooth from, dont ask me why. So use a good safe place. (I put mine in the back of my PC, not the front.)
Windows will now say that it has found new hardware. It will ask you if it can search the internet for drivers, click > Yes This Time Only.
It will search and wont find anything.
Now it will ask you if it can search for drivers on the PC, click : Yes, and tell it where the drivers are located, CD/Floppy, Folder. eg: E:\Sitecom/drivers/XP
Let it install. It will finish, then suddenly re-open.
Run the same step as above again. (dont ask me why..it just installes some more drivers.)
Finally it will finish and say that your software is ready to be used.
DONT TRY TO USE IT! THE SOFTWARE REQUIRED ISNT RUNNING YET. DONT RUN PC SUITE EITHER! DONT QUIT PC SUITE, AND DONT TRY TO USE THE CONNECTION MANAGER.
    REBOT the PC.
Now when you go into PC Suite > Connection Manager, you should find a new connection. In my case:
    Bluetooth (Sitecom)
and the old bluetooth connection looks like this:
    Bluetooth (Microsoft)
The connection is very fast and stable. You can browse the phone as if it is cable connected which is awsome. Transfer speed depends on your adaptor, but it averages between 1 - 3 Megabites Per Second.
Hopefully this works for you too!
    Good Luck,
    Tal
    I own a 5210, 5140 and now..the new 3250. Symbian 60 Series OS 3.0 ..just the best.

  • Nokia E71 - PC Suite connectivity problem

Hi, I am using E71 since 1 year and use to connect to my LAPTOP on PC Suite. Since One month i am facing problem that the phone is not getting connected to my LAPTOP. Drivers are installed , PC suite upgraded to 7.4.x, checked at Nokia care center, No success.  When I click on PC Suite, it looks for connectivity and gives an error as check for connector drivers. I got my LAPTOP also verified by service centre and confirmed LAPTOP is good with any other device except with this.    Meanwhile If I connect the same E71 with same cable to another LAPTOP which is installed with PC Suite is connecting well and even at Nokia support center it worked with their PC.   I could not find a solution. on how to resolve this. Pl. help me.
I have enclosed screen shorts for reference.  My LAPTOP has 4 USB ports and device is detected and drivers are installed on all the 4 ports.  But it is not detected from PC SUITE.
BUT IF I CONNECT THE PHONE IN MASS STORAGE DEVICE, IT IS WORKING FINE.
Enclosed file is .docx file,   pl. remove .txt in the extension and read.

Problem just solved. I installed Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition SP2 operating system and now it works perfectly, so the problem was just that the performance edition operating system caused the drivers not installing properly. But now I have another kind of a problem. I am using the N96 as a modem for Internet. I can only get a speed of approx 45kb/s, while I have got almost 110kb/s with another computer using the same cable. Is it caused because of the USBv1.1 slow USB version? But shouldn't it still be able to do better than 45kb/s, while it transfers files with OK speeds? When I use the Bluetoothv1 USB Dongle, it works with about the same speed but only when using the performance edition, not when using the home original OS. When using home edition OS it works about 5kb/s, but it could have been just temporary. But my main question is, still, that how could I get the speed faster? I have installed the windows KBxxxxxxx patch, but still it works pretty slow, just about half of the speed it is supposed to work.

  • Nokia N70 starts with a white Screen.

    Hi all,
My nokia N70 starts with a white Screen and does not go any further. It does not make any sound while starting. When i connect it to the PC it is not detected by the PC while the phone is on showing a white screen. I have tried performing a Hard reset using the *3 and the green key but it is not formatting either. I also tried updating the software but as the PC is not recognising the mobile connection the updater is not working either. I am using the latest PC suite.
    Please help...

Remove the battery for at least 5 minutes and then replace and see if that makes any difference. Also try removing the memory card.
If the above two don't work then try these.Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
    First try these
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
    *#7370# - Reformat your phone
    If still not working
Then try the "3 finger deep reset". With the phone powered off, depress and hold these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone using the on/off button whilst keeping the three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
This should ONLY be done if the device doesn't power up normally anymore and it wipes everything in the Phone memory that is not part of the ROM.

  • Charing Nokia N70 with usb data cable?

    Hello,
I am interested if it is possible to charge my nokia n70 ME through usb data cable, and if it is, what is the required software for that? Doesn't seem like PC Suite is offering this kinda of feature.

    @Wezzeh
At most you could use CA-100 adaptor for USB > 2mm pin connection:http://europe.nokia.com/find-products/accessories/all-accessories/memory-cards-and-cables/cables/nok...
