NOkia N79 - Turning all web/data access off

I have just got my nee Nokia N79 work mobile - Impressed by the phone.
Our work plan does not have any allowance for data/web access therefore does anyone know how if you can lock the phone out of accessing the web/data?
Thanks

Hi kinada1970
First thing that springs to mind is to define Web "Access point" as WLAN, but there may be other solutions here.

  • NOKIA N79 CANT BACKUP CONTACT DATA TO MEMORY CARD

    hello,
I am not able to backup the contact data of my nokia n79 to memory card. When performing the above function the progress bar progresses for sometime goes 50 % completed and then returns to the home screen. Tried formatting the phone/MC as well as re-flashed the firmware but no use. Is there anyone having similar issue ?. FYI the phone is under warranty and there is no proper response
from the nokia centre so i have decided to repair it myself. Is there any workaround for this issue ??
    Thanx in advance

My question still stands though, if you look in the directory, has it actually backed up all your contacts or not? meaning are all the *.vcf files there.
if not, which file does is the last that was created,  find the equivalent in the contacts database, and check if there is something wrong/different with the next contact compared to others?
Yes, there may be an error, but at least until it is fixed you may be able to work around it.
(I presume there is plenty of space on your memory card? note that the phone has a self imposed limit to prevent memory card from being completely full, so if card is very close to full it is possible that backup utility stops)

  • HT4847 what happens if i turn documents and data option off

what happens if i turn documents and data option off

This is what Apple says about documents on icloud.com (from http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4910):
    iWork for iOS apps
For documents created with the iWork for iOS apps, you can download those files by visiting icloud.com/iwork on a Mac or PC and downloading a copy.  After downloading the files, you should back them up using the normal methods you use for backing up local files such as Time Machine, manually copying files to external hard drives, and burning to CD/DVD.
    Other apps
For other apps using iCloud Documents, contact the app developer for more information on how to keep a copy of that app's data.
If you go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, you will see a list of the apps that are storing documents and data on iCloud (under Documents & Data).  You can tap each item listed there to see the file names of any documents.

  • How can I disable web/data access during certain hours?

I have added a feature to my wireless account restricting my daughter's text/data/surfing access during evening hours.  I thought I was pretty clever and assumed she would only have access to her music on her iPhone.  Turns out she can still access all she wants using our home WIFI so my sceme is rendered useless.  Other than confiscating her phone each evening, does anyone know how I can restrict wifi on her phone during certain hours?
Also, does anyone have a nano?  Thinking she could use that for music and to set her alarm, but I don't think the nano has an alarm function.
    Thanks for your input!

No way to restrict it during certain hours. You can restrict it always, or never. Parental supervision is one solution. It's a losing battle to try to outwit children. It's better to require trust, with consequences if trust is breached.

  • Turn all format (data, columns, rows) from english to chinese?

Is there any possibilities that OBIEE report can be turn into Chinese language. I mean a function that can change all english format (data, colums, rows, etc) into chinese especially mandarin. Right now, what I found is that I need to find the chinese translation for all the english terms used in the report and convert them one by one.

    Hi,
translating column names can be done using "Externalizing Display Names":
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/10/29/oracle-bi-ee-101332-presentation-layer-translation/
translating report captions can be done by using language dependent captions:
    http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/10/19/oracle-bi-ee-10133-presentation-catalog-captions/
translating data in your tables can be done by snowflaking a translation table on your dimension tables.

  • Does it make sense to create a worker role for data access to DocumentDB?

    Hi,
I'm building an ASP.NET MVC app that will run on Azure. I'm using DocumentDB as its back-end database.
Sometimes, I return multiple data sets from different collections that need to be "reorganized". I handle this using LINQ in my application code. Does it make sense then to put all my data access and manipulation code into a worker role that I
can call from my web application that will run as a web role?
The reason why I'm thinking this may be beneficial is that I could scale up my worker role to increase its data manipulation capacity.
On the other hand, in most cases, my web role has to wait for a response from the DAL before it can do anything -- meaning, I cannot handle data access asynchronously -- I'm wondering if worker role approach makes any sense. I think mostly, worker roles
are used for operations that can run asynchronously.
I'd appreciate your feedback on this.
    Thanks, Sam

    Hi,
Worker role applications are background processing applications like Windows processes which run in the background. Applications hosted within worker roles can run asynchronous, we usually use worker role to do some long-running or perpetual tasks, and
use scale function to load balance the tasks. Based on your description, it seems that worker role is a good choice for you, please try it, if you have further issues, welcome to create new threads in our forum.

  • Oim 11g r2: data access restriction using roles instead of organisations

can i implement data access restriction using roles instead of organisations in oim 11g r2?

in my use case a particular user can be member of more than one organisation. as far as i know oim does not suoport this use case using organisation, so i decide to use roles to represent my "organizations", but now i loose all the data access restrictions (scope).

  • ConfigMgr 2012R2, client Data Access options gryed out

    Hi all
I’m trying to make my task sequences access the DP directly so I need to change all the data access options on my packages and applications to
'copy the content in this package to a package share on distribution point'
Which is fine however on the client these options are greyed out any reason for this ??
    Chris

That's the reason why many create their own client package, because you can't change the builtin client package.
The best way around this is creating your own client package, as not even PowerShell (at least not via the cmdlets, I haven't tried WMI) won't get you around it.

  • Going overseas turning off all unnecessary data updates

We're going overseas and have read we should turn off all unnecessary data updates. What would one turn off? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks

Very good question, as too many people don't ask it and are confronted with huge bills coming home from a holiday.
The answer of wjosten is applicable when you don't want to make or to be able to receive calls or send/receive SMS messages. In short: you'll use your iPhone at WIFI spots to access the internet.
If would like to remain reachable and be able to make calls I recommend your turn off all data usage through telephony networks when abroad, which you can do in Settings -> General -> Network -> Data Roaming
Note that generally when abroad you'll pay when answering a call and, optionally, receiving an SMS. Your service provider should be able to provide with the rates for this, as well as the rates for making a call or sending an SMS from the country you're in.
To check your e-mail and browse the web follow the advice of wjosten and look for WIFI networks on you destination. Even if they're not free, they are for sure cheaper than using the telephone network via your iPhone.

    Sounds like a hardware failure.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced.

  • Why is my texting using data? When I have data turned off I can't send/receive. Texting is "unlimited" but it's using up all my data- help!

Why is my texting using data? When I have data turned off I can't send/receive. Texting is "unlimited" but it's using up all my data- help!

Texting longer text messages or any media (pictures/video/sound etc) being sent requires data to be active. However, it does not count against your data caps.
Since you have an iPhone, you must also be aware of the difference between iMessage and SMS Text messages. The iPhone, by default, will send an iMessage when sending another text message to anyone else with an iPhone, iTouch, or iPad. This does use your data if you are not connected to wifi. In Settings, you can turn iMessage off, and then all of your texts will go through Verizon.
Also understand- iMessage will use wifi when connected to wifi, but would need cellular data connection to work when not connected to wifi. Regular SMS text messages that are long or any media will always use the cellular data and not wifi, so will not send if cellular data is turned off, even if on wifi. However, this does not count against your cap.

  • Is there a problem in turning the cellular data on and off to save battery?

is there any problem in turning on and off the cellular data frequently to save battery???

    Hi Friend,
There is no problem. Even you turn data cellular off, you can keep turn on Wireless, so you can access internet, send/receive iMessages or anything else.
But, I have present my battery during 34 hours (charged until 83% on Saturday 22:30 and drained till 3% on Monday 08:00) ! Amazing ! And, I already posted this solution before: recharge the battery until reach 80 to 90%. IOS 6 User's Guide says make a full recharge just once a month. It takes few days to see the improvements. Restore your device will improve the results as well. All of this improves my battery fife over 15 hours, but my last battery life tes was 34 hous!
    Hope it will be helpful

  • My grandson deleted all the data from his ipod touch . all he gets when he turns it on is a gray screen and an apple logo. Our computer no longer recognizes the ipod nor does itunes, Help.

My grandson delted all data from his ipod touch {thinking he was deleting his songs.] Now all he gets when he turns it on is a gray screen with an apple logo. We do not have it backed up nor was it ever turned on to itunes. We purchased it used from a co worker and didnt get that far.. Our computers do not recognise it as any thing nor does itunes when we have it plugged into itunes. Any way to fix this? Apple support will remote into our computer to fix it. For $ 99.00. Well needless to say he used all his savings to buy the ipod so ......  Any free ideas??

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
