Nokia N8 Album art

I thought that the music player is supposed to recognize .jpeg files within the album folder as album art covers, doesn't work for me.. has anyone tried it on their N8 ?

Hi,
You have to use MTP mode to transfer your songs to device and then .jpg files are added as album arts. You can use Ovi Player, Windows Media player or any other that support MTP.
So find your songs in the selected PC player, then connect your device in Ovi Suite or Media transfer mode (Note: Mass Memory mode can not be used) and then sync using your selected PC player to the device and album arts will be visible.

  • Nokia N95 8GB Album Art and Album Folders Issue

I have been hunting for for a resolution for two issues with the N95 8GB Media Player all over the web.
    1. Adding artwork (CD Covers) to audio tracks (or albums) seems to be at best hit and miss. Most of the time it just does not work.
    2. Deleting an album delete all the tracks but deleting the album folder seems almost impossible.
Well this weekend I decided to try to solve this and I think I may have hit upon a solution.
Since so may people have the same problem I thought it worth repeating. I would stress this has not been exhaustively tested but it does work reliably so far.
I am using Nokia Music Manager 2.0. The fix is simply to convert the files to AAC rather than to M4A (which is the default). After this simple change everythig worked find for me. I can add and delete albums from Nokia Music Manager 2.0 (don't forget to refresh on the phone afterwards) AND reliably add Album Artwork.
So here is how I have been working.
    1. Set the conversion format to AAC. I have been using 'Ultra high' quality setting. Options Menu >> Setting >> Conversion Tab.
    2. Next put in a CD, select all the tracks and choose copy to my collection.
    3. While this is going on I find the artwork on the Web. A simple Google Image search with the album title and artists last name / band name seems pretty 100% to get the on the first page. Download image to My Documents / My Pictures.
    4. Once the CD Rip is complete they will all appear in My Collection. I select all the tracks in my collection for the album in question, and then right click on one of them and select Edit.
    5. I then attach the Album Artwork by clicking on the blue folder and choosing it from my, MY Pictures folder.
    6. Finally select Copy to Phone from the File Menu.
This has worked for me so far 100% and I have done 20 or so albums.
    NOTES:
To get Nokia Music Manager 2.0 I uninstalled the version of Nokia Phone Suite that came with my phone and went to
http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905I (or seach Google for "nokia phone suite"
I chose the N95 8GB downloaded and installed. At some point shortly after install Phone Suite informed me that there were updates available and Nokia Music Manager 2.0 was one of these.
I was originaly using this and suffered all the problems you guys have. After searching the web and finding no solution I decided to do some experimenting.
    Hope all this helps.
PS If you need to delete all your legacy album folders, this is the fix I found on this same site. You can do this at any time.
    1. Enable the option to be able to see Hidden Files and Folders in your Windows Explorer.
    2. Connect your n95 8gb to your computer and choose data transfer mode.
    3. Go to My COmputer >> Nokia Phone Browser >> Nokia N95 8GB >> Memory Card E:
    3. If you have selected Show Hidden Files and Folders (see 1) you should see a folder called Private.
    4. In the Private folder you need to delete the contednts of three folders
    \private\101FFC31 (mpxv1.mpd and pcv5.mpd)
    \private\101f8857\Cache
    \private\101ffca9
In all the 3 folders delete all the files Not the FOLDER
Next time you restart the music player it will rebuild the indexes without the deleted albums folders.
Hope this helps someone. It restored my sanity.

    Album Art
    Basically there are two methods
    Method 1.
You do it on the phone. Load the album art pictures to the memory card. (Must be JPEG NOT BMP)
    Load also the music files.
Open Music application in the phone. Open an album then select Options->Album art then Options-> Add, browse for the picture and select Ok.
    Repeat for each ALBUM
    Method 2.
You do it on the PC.
Get a Tag editing software like Tag&Rename, WINAMP, etc.
Edit the files Metadata to include Album Art picutres (again they should be jpeg and also they should be set as Cover Front).
Transfer the files that have Album Art using File transfer (usb mass storage) don't use MTP or PC Suite as these methods may convert the files and Album Art will be lost.
Or you can continue using your Method

  • Problem: How to get album art shown on nokia 6120 ...

Hi guys, i need help once again, how can i get the album art on my 6120 classic player? any advices any ideas? i really want to get the art there since it was one of the main reasons i bought the phone, i mean the good looks of its music player, thanks in advance once again for your advices

I just discovered that the best and possibly only way to get your album artwork to display on your nokia is to have the album artwork present in your iTunes album cover disply before trying to convert them to your phone.
Im not sure if a similar process would work for other media players. Its as simple as copying the image from windows explorer images into your album artwork box in iTunes and then importing your files again.
Good Luck, hope this works for you

Does any one know what pixel size needs to be used in Album Art in Nokia E5-00?

Something about 300x300works fine, just drag and drop to the album icon on Windows Media Player, then transfer the album to your phone !

  • Drag and drop album art in Nokia Music Manager

Hi there, I am just making my first steps with the Nokia Music Manager (NMM). After converting my music files to the m4a format I want to add the album art. There is a little field on the bottom of the screen of the NMM called "Drop graphic here" (don't no exactly the wording - I have the german version). I have tried different ways but nothing happens. What do I do wrong?
    Kind regards

    Hi.
Had the same problem and couldn't find anything anywhere, just stupid workarounds using wmp & itunes and **bleep**.
    Solution is very simple
You can only drag'n'drop album art onto songs which are in 'My Collection'.
So... Copy your mp3's to the 'My Collection' view and it should work.
This also enables the 'Edit' function in Nokia Music Manager which lets you edit tags aswell as album art.
    Hope this helps...

  • Nokia Is To Be Blamed for Album Art & Metadata

Right first of all when Nokia released back in the days the N91 and that device had the support for standard Metadata & ID3 Tagging + Album Art and now there are more nseries/eseries/nokia express music devices such as N95, N81, N82, N95 8GB, 5300 etc...
The problem is Nokia have moved from Standard Metadata/ID3 Tagging and now they use there own method which i find is ridiculous ! before I use to use Easy CD-DA Extractor Pro v10.5 which was excellent for album art, ID3/Medatadata Tagging etc and they converted audio files use to show correct details on nseries device such as Album art, genre etc.
Now if i use any programs such as Winamp Pro, Easy CD-DA Extractor v11 or above, Mediamonkey etc and try to Add an album art into the eAAC+ file (.aac) they do not show up on any nseries devices (so far ive tried N82, n81 n95, n95 8GB) all with latest firmware.
Nokia should get there act togtether and change to standard method. !!!
i can not be askd to manually put jpeg images into my phone and select for each tract/or album the album art in the music player on the phone !
    I have contacted Winamp - EasY CD-DA Extractor - Coding Technologies (License to Nokia for aacPlus) and they all seem to say one common in thing;
    - They use the latest aacPlus plugin and the problem is not with their plugin its with Nokia. Coding Technologies gave license to Winamp - Easy CD DA Extractor and they both use the latest aac Plugin.
I would advise a Moderator to pass this info to the relevant firmware team and update this metadata/ID3 tagging to Standard like its used in all other software and hardware devices !

  • Album art won't transfer when dragging music to device

Hope I'm not the only one to have noticed this.
I recently updated iTunes to v10.6 from 10.0. Since then, any album art that I have manually added in the past no longer shows up on my iPhone or iPod Classic. However, album art that was retrieved via iTunes (purchases, etc) does appear. I first noticed this on my iPhone, which was running iOS 5.0.1 at the time. I updated to iOS 5.1 afterwards, thinking that it might solve the problem but nothing changed.
Some things I should mention; my entire library is ALAC (lossless), and I do not use the sync feature with music. I manually drag albums over that I want and use the "convert to AAC feature", and have always done so. The main reason I upgraded to iTunes 10.6 was to take advantage of converting to AAC 256kbps instead of the previously fixed bit rate of 128kbps. Anyway, I dragged over a lossless album without the option of converting to AAC, but it still didn't transfer the artwork.
In case anyone is wondering, the method I used to download my art was by finding the cover using Google Images, hilighting every track in the album, and pasting it in. Again, I never had this problem until upgrading iTunes to v10.6.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone else has experience this problem, and if there are any fixes yet.
    (10.6.8)

In my experience, the only way for the album artwork to stay associated with the actual music file, is to use the "Update album artwork" feature in iTunes. This means, that to get the artwork from iTunes, the artist name, song title and album name MUST match exactly the information of the song in the iTunes store. If the art is not available, you can add your own. If you add your own, then run the update album art feature again so that the album art becomes part of the songs meta data. It should transfer to just about any device after that. However, some devices (Nokia comes to mind) will not display art metadata over 64K in size.

  • Album art not transferring to N85

It's a small problem but kind of a nuisance. I don't understand why, when I transfer music to my N85, the album art is not transferred with it.
I do it using sync from windows media player 11.
    Any solutions, anyone?

Use the search discussions and type Album art and you will find these:
    /discussions/search?submitted=true&sort_by=-date&ticket=qPI9xMoyLhmB_5619&q=Album+art#search_results
Then read previous posts. This is asked almost daily!

  • Where is the album art?

    Hello all,
I just bought an ipod and installed itunes. I imported my Windows Media library. However, the new itunes folders are all screwed up and there is not any album art. Tech support said there is nothing I can do. Well, besides reload and rip my cd's str8 in2 itunes. Problem is, I have 787. Is there anyway I can reorganize the folders and view the album art?
    Thanks,

This has been answered a 1000 times.
    There are several methods:
    You can:
    1. Load a JPEG or PNG picture of the albun art to the phone. Then select the Album in the music player then seletct Options-> Album Art then Options-> Change then select the picture file.
    2. You can add the Album art in the MetaData. In WMP11 select the songs, then right click on them select "Advanced Tag Editor" Then select the Pictures Tab. Add the Picture (JPEG or PNG) and then set it as "Cover Front" and then select OK. Now transfer (not synch) the songs to the phone using Mass Storage.
Method 1 has the problem that the Album Art is tied in the phone only so if you delete the songs and load them again you will have to set the album art again.
Methid 2 has the problem that if you Sync using WMP then sometimes the songs are converted before the sync and this causes the Album Art to be deleted. This is a WMP11 problem, that's why if you want Album Art it's better to put it in the Metadata then use File Transfer and drag and drop to put the files to the memory card or mass memory.

  • How do you get album art to display in N95 player?

As titled, on the N95 8GB, how do you get the image art work of a file/song to display? Thanks

    To > pescaglini
I've got the best method for album art without using any jpegs from the phone.
    Follow these steps;
    1. Download & Install Easy CD-DA Extractor v11.0 (30-Day Trial). This software is amazing & its worth paying for...and if u get other version above v11.0 album art will NOT work !
    Download Link: http://rapidshare.com/files/120267020/ezcddax11.exe.html
MODs dont worry it 30-Day Trial
    2. Run Easy CD-DA Extractor v11.0
    3. Select the “Audio Converter” Tab & drag your files that you want converting.
    4. Now edit your audio files tags such as Genre, Artist, Album etc
    5. Highlight all your music files & click on the “Additional ID3” tab.
    6. You have two options either to Download Album Art off the Internet or Load the
image from your PC. For this guide I am going to use an Image that is saved on my PC.
    7. Select Your Encoding Method eg MP3 Lame, AAC+, eAAC+ etc
    8. Then Press Convert Button & presto u get album art
Alternativly if you want a Guide with Screenshots then I've made this guide, remember the guide came from me ...

  • How to import incl. album art

    Hi,
Just upgraded to leopard. All my music is now on a firewire HD with a clone of the original HD.
How do I import the music on the new HD without loosing album art? (I tried to copy it from the music folder, but no album art was showing)

An issue I found with adding album art is that it depends what program you used to get your music.
E.g. if you created mp3/aac track using iTunes then you can not put the album art on without lots of stuffing around as the id tags iTunes uses are not compatible with Nokia phones.
    My solution was as follows:
Imported all my tracks from CD's using the Nokia Music Manager (v2.0). This added all the tracks to "my collection" in the manager.
You then need to get the album art from somewhere, generally I use iTunes but there are sites (www.cdcovers.cc) is good.
All you need to do is hightlight the tracks of the album in "my collection" of the music manager and drag (or copy and paste) the artwork into the little white square in the bottom middle of the music manager.
You should then see the artwork appear in the square and all the tracks update one at a time.
This actually embeds the artwork in the track (does not increase the size significantly).
I then sent the track to my phone using the music manager (I don't convert to mobile optimised format as this does effect sound quality).
This is by far not an ideal solution as it means re-importing all my tracks but as I used iTunes originally the tracks could not be updated. Interestingly if you already have the artwork in the iTunes file it does not appear on the phone.

  • Flashing Album Art on Desktop

I have just encountered a perplexing problem. In another application (PhotoStudio) today I was examining various keyboard shortcuts. iTunes was open. Apparently, one of those shortcuts enables an iTunes feature that searches for the current track and floats any associated album artwork on the desktop. It goes away only when iTunes has been quit.
But even when it's not open, the desktop (Finder?) continues to look for artwork. The desktop area where the artwork would be places flashes very briefly -- maybe .25 second -- every 5 seconds.
    Any suggestions?

Thank you for your response, but the issue is not so simple. Album art is embeded for sure. I've edited all the tags properly. I do know smth about it, believe me)) And the album art IS displayed, BUT only if I open Music+Videos or Nokia Music apps and within these apps, not on the desktop. But I want the album art to be displayed ALSO on the desktop (+lock screen, if possible) while music is playing in backgroud mode. It is just the issue of design, and I wonder if I could somehow contact developers to fix this. I think, this would only popularize Windows Phone and would make the desktop more bright and dinamic.
To make it clear I attach two screenshots.
You can see the same track playing. Album art is displayed in Music+Videos app
BUT it is not displayed on the desktop (only artist name on the grey backgroud; I've circled it red)
So I want album art to be displayed on the desktop TOO. Is it clear now?
    Thanks in advance
