Nokia N8 as microphone for PC (for chat)?

Is there a way to use my N8 as a microphone for my PC for chatting?
My desktop has neither a webcam nor a microphone. So i found an application(epocCam) to use my N8 as a webcam for my skype. But how to solve the microphone issue? (PS: I tried the mobile version of skype on my N8, but it does not support video calls)
Solved!

This did the trick - "mobile microphone". Yipee!

    Hello,
when I chose the status bar to add a new Yahoo protocol ID for chatting I can add my profile, but the N900 does not connect to Yahoo. Yes, the password is right and the servers as well. All other protocols work fine, Skype works, Jabber works. Only my Yahoo profile does not get online. Is this a bug? What can I do?

  • Which Microphone for New Mid 2011 Macbook Air 13"

Please recommend a few USB condensor microphones for voice/vocal recordings that is sure to work with the New Mid 2011 Macbook Air.
My 3.5mm to USB adapters that work on my 2009 Macbook Pro with Leopard OS, no longer works with Lion OS
Ill be using this with GarageBand, iMovie & Audacity. Previously I'd use my Azden SMX-10 with the adapter. (the Azden is also used with my Canon DSLR).
    Thanks in advance.

It is entirely possible, as many have known from day one (as ifixit's first teardown revealed). Unlike the unupgradeable memory, the SSD is a discrete expansion card that is removeable with just one screw, after removing the case cover. It is however debateable as to whether such an expansion is worth the possible risk of making demonstrable changes to the MBA whilst still under warranty. So you may want to stave off consideration for a while.
I made the upgrade recently on my older 2010 MBA, and it was easier than upgrading the HDD on my old MacBook Pro.

  • CUPC 8.6 (and older) - Sound Notification for Chat to wrong source

This issue originally came up in CUPC 8.5(6), but as I logged in to report it, I saw 8.6(1) was just released - I have confirmed the same issue still exists in 8.6 as well.
A user asked me how to get sounds to notify her when someone sent her a Chat message in CUPC.  She has two sound devices - a normal set of speakers, and a Jabra USB-based headset for communications.  When a chat would come in, she could not hear anything on her speakers, even with the volume turned up, the sounds enabled in CUPC, etc.
After a bit of experimentation, it appears the sound for Chat notifications goes to the "Speakers" audio device, and not the "Ringtone" audio device.
To me, this seems counterintuitive, since an IM alert sound is the Chat equivilant to a Ringtone - it's a notification that you have an incoming communication.  The sound is not audible unless you have your headset on, assuming it is a different device from your speakers.
I'd like to request that in the next update for CUPC, the Audio Alerts for Chat be set to use the Ringtone audio output, and not the Speaker audio output.  (Or, if needed, an option to choose which one is used be made available.)
    Thank you!
    -Geoffrey

    Hey Geoffrey,
I suggest that you open a TAC case so that we can verify this with our Dev Team. Once you open a case, I can work with you on this one.

  • Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?

Can I use a Bluetooth headphone/microphone for capture sound instead of normal iPhone mic when shooting video?
The sound when I record video is not so good, so I'm trying to use the Bluetooth headphone/microphone to capture a person voice but not know which setting to use.

    Hi Robert
Thanks for answering. I didn't know where to post other than the bluetooth forum which is relatively quiet and had no answers forthcoming.
Yes the voice isn't reaching the amp although it is registering on the input bar in the Sound System Prefs, just won't "play through" as it were. I can't see how it could be done I was just hoping someone might see something I am missing.
It seems a shame that you can't do it as iTunes on an old iBook makes a good juke box for DJ'ing and with everything becoming wireless these days it seems sensible that you could cut that one last wire.

  • Can't get iSight to connect for chats.. Please Help!

    Good afternoon.
I have tried everything I can (the links, suggestions, etc.) to get my iSight to work for chats but so far have not had any luck. I’m looking for some help from the experts again.
    OK… here’s my configuration:
Mac Mini 1.25 with 512 meg RAM.
    Minimate External 160GB hard drive
    20” Apple Cinema Display
iSight connected to firewire on back of ACD (has been connected in other firewire ports with same results)
When I turn on the iSight it starts iChat and iChat informs that I have logged on. If I open a preview window I can see myself. It’s when I try to connect to the Apple test sites (or anyone for that matter) I get nothing. I see me in the preview window and it just sits and sits, trying to connect.
I have Delicious Library and the iSight works great with that, scanning in the barcodes of my movies, books, etc.
I’d like to get it to work with chat, but so far, as I said previously, nothing I’ve tried is working.
Any guidance, suggestions, help, would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for the help.

    Hello wyzard,
You are posting in iSight rather than iChat AV Discussions. Have you tested your iSight using the How To Ensure Your iSight Is Functional FAQ? Does iChat AV work with a different camera (other than your iSight)?
    By "everything", do you include
    b ALL
relevant iChat AV Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and the iSight Tips and FAQ?
If so, I am surprised that your are still using Delicious Library. I do not use it, but D/L is one app that has been reported by several, but not all, users to cause software conflicts with iChat AV. You might try uninstalling D/L, disconnecting your MiniMate and
    b ALL
other third party peripherals, and running wired via Ethernet cable directly from your Modem to your Mac until you get iChat AV working properly.
These, and other suggestions, along with a link to Apple's iChat tutorial are in Using iSight with iChat AV. If you have not already tried them, see if the suggestions there help you.
Then try every the trouble shooting suggestion that applies to your system from Help for iChat AV 3 Problems.
If you cannot get even TEXT chat to work, post back with as much as you can of the relevant information requested in the When do I Post a New iChat Topic ? FAQ. Sometimes just the act of gathering this information will lead you to the fix for your problem. If not, we will be happy to try to give more definitive answers based on your complete information.

  • Can I buy a headset with microphone for my 13" MACBOOK PRO?

There is only one hole to plug an earphone, and when i record in my software, and i replay it. it sounds strange. so i'm trying to change a microphone.
is the headset with microphone for A1278 on sale? could somebody give me an sale net address?

Thank you. I know what you mean. Apple can support earpiece and microphone in one plug.
When I ask about this question, my MBP had trouble in Windows XP.
I'm Chinese, and there is a software named DynEd. I was using it to record my voice, that voice changed when I replay. It just like an iPhone app:Talking Prez.
And then I reinstall my windows system. Now I'm using Windows 7, and the question resolved.
Maybe 4GB memory is too big for WinXP x32.
    What do you think?

  • How to use iphone as a microphone for the sound to come out in a bluetooth wireless speaker? what app?

well i want to do the impossible- i think. i want to know if i there is an app that will allow me to use my iphone as a microphone, for the iphone to be able to be connected to a wireless bluetooth speaker, and for the sound, to come out on the speaker. (the voice) without any cables. in order to do some fun stuff like karaoke or just talk.

    Hi redzknzz,
I see this has been up for over a year with no responses. Did you ever find a solution? I'm interested in something similar. The apps I've seen require the iPhone be connected to a powered speaker with a stereo cable. There are apps that allow you to connect to another iDevice via WiFi, which can then connect to the speaker. No output via Bluetooth yet.
    Have you found anything?

  • Nokia C3-01, suggestions for next S/W update

I am using Nokia C3-01 from 2 weeks. It is nice phone with touch and type combination. I would like to add some suggestions for next software update.
    1.   Brightness control
    2.  When writing a text message, tapping # change only alphabet from capital to lower case, but missing numeric. I have to press 3-4 times to write numeric in text. Also have no 'option' to insert numeric. If I change other language (not English, which is automatic), then I can get numeric by tapping #. Nokia, please care it for next firmware update.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You can do a long press on the keys to get the numeric value instead of pressing it three to four times. This works for all Nokia since years, if they have keys
Or do a long press on the # key. This gives you the option to activate numeric input. Also a quite old feature for Nokia phones.

  • Which external Microphone for outdoor????

Im currently waiting on the Canon HF G30 to be released and would like some information or opinions on which is the better external microphone for my shooting.  I will be shooting 90% outdoor and 10% indoor.  Automotive and racing events is the normal criteria and I think i have it narrowed down to 3 different ones.
    1. Rode NTG-2
    2. Rode VideoMic Pro
    3. Rode VideoMic with rycote.
Which is the better for outdoor racing type shooting ie. drag racing, rock climbing, sidexside racing and some car shows?

This belongs in Cameras and Camcorders (hopefully a moderator will approve it shortly)
I don't see any of the units in the Flip line saying that they have a mic jack, so there are no microphones that will be directly compatible with your camcorder.
It looks like the only solution available to you is to use a standalone audio recorder such as the Zoom H1 or H2 and splice the audio into the video during the editing process.  (FYI, this is how the pros do it, and is the reason they use the "clapper" in Hollywood, as it provides an easily recognizable video and audio cue for syncing everything together..)

    Dear Nokia Careline,
The "No Return Policy" already be used here. Seem that I have no choice to go for other alternatives. Maybe I have to file the case to our local authority i.e. Tribunal Court Claim to exercise my consumer right here.
Perhaps, further blogs at Nokia discussion column, facebook, twitter might help to let others understand more about so-called Nokia Careline entertain their loyal customer.
If you insist your stand there, then I am always ready to go for my alternatives.
I won't let go unless you could satisfy me.

    Dear Mr. X,
    We appreciate your prompt reply.
We will be noting for concern as a feedback. However, please be informed Mr. Tan that Nokia has noted in the box regarding the said case.
The outage experienced by our sub-supplier was quite unexpected. Typically, the lead time for components such as this one is fairly long, and one cannot react to sudden changes at short notice. We value our relationship with our suppliers and sub-suppliers, and know that our sub-supplier is doing everything in their power to remedy the situation and return to regular supply.
The lack of TV out should not affect any other device functionalities besides that you will not be able to show/transmit pictures or video to external monitor/screen.
As Nokia does not have a replacement policy, we suggest to check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding exchanges.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

    Dear NOKIA CARELINE,
Yap, you can tell me leaflet included & a tiny label on the pack box. But who will really check every single area of the pack box & read the whole manual or leaflet when they decided to buy the phone. What normally customer will check is the handphone and the accessories. Now you are telling me that customer have to check everything even they  buy something from a reputable company like Nokia. If I going in a shop that sell a China like Nokia 5800 handphone and I bought it then I won't have a say here at all.
I have checked with my retailer they allow me to return the unit but I can't get full refund from them. They are going deduct a couple of hundred cause they said the unit is considered used unit now. According to them instead of asking customer to wait they prefer to refund the customer. So who is going to bear for the cost now.
I certainly frustrated by getting a unit that without TV out function. If you are telling me that once manufactured the feature could not be added in, then I would say if you do have a unit with TV-out feature now you could exchange directly to your customer. Why still ask your loyal customer like me to refer to dealer or retailer. Is that what you mean after sales service or NOKIA CARELINE. You don't even care in the first place.
Your apologies certainly couldn't be accepted with reason of Nokia did include leaflet to inform and tiny sticker at the bottom of the pack box. Sound irresponsible to me at all.
What I wanna your care now, that is pls exchange a unit with TV-out feature with mine in which without such feature. Do I really put the CARELINE into difficulty position. Your reply to me is highly appreciated and also to show that you care or don't care.
    Regards,

    Dear Mr. X,
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
    Greetings!
In response to your inquiry, please be informed Mr. Tan that due to a component shortage, a limited number of Nokia 5800 Xpress Music has been manufactured without the TV-out functionality. It is possible that you have one of these devices. In that case, the sales package should have a sticker on the package and a leaflet inside the package that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Also, the TV-out cable has been removed from the affected sales packages.
Kindly take note Mr. Tan that it is not possible to add the feature after the device has been manufactured. Therefore we have labeled the affected sales packages with a sticker and included a leflet that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
The new batch of phones should have the feature back. As this matter is clearly stated in the sales package, it is not possible to return to Nokia. However, you may check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding the return of the unit in exchange for a version that has the TV-out feature. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

    Hello,
I've been all over Amazon.com trying to find a microphone for my iPad 1.
I'm starting the class next week and I want to record the lectures using something other than the built-in microphone on my iPad. Amazon has lots of inexpensive microphones for Apple devices, but I'm not seeing a clear choice for the iPad.
Can someone recommend a microphone that plugs into the iPad that would give me better quality than the built in microphone?
    Thanks in advance!

greetings. I would like to use a microphone for my mac... is there any way i can connect a microphone? Or am i only limited to the speaker phone? Please advise. thanks, by the way i own an ibook G4. thanks

    Micheal,
I've been drooling over this USB microphone that just came out:
    http://www.bluemic.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Products&file=index&prod_id=1 8
If you're into style (and by you're iBook purchase, i'm guessing you are), than this will be perfect. Blue has a great reputation with recording professionals for their craftsmanship AND design (sound familiar?). I would totally trust the sound you'd get with this USB microphone.
Otherwise, if budget is a concern, look into a USB device called iMic. you can plug in a cheap-o radio shack mic (with a 1/8th" jack) and karaoke your heart out.
    Are you podcasting?
    good luck,
