Nokia N8, Camera Issue: Black spot

Saw others have had the same issue.. and tried the "solutions"
Black spot in same location on every picture / live preview of the image on the camera mode.
tired cleaning the lens, does not work. Guess its a hardware problem/ faulty lens?
need a bit of info before i go back to Virgin to get a new hand set

I just had the same issue appear on my Nokia N8. I looked back in my pictures and it started about two hours ago based on pictures I'd taken (I take a lot!).
Anyway I searched for the solutions you had referred to and found ones saying a shake of the phone resolves the problem. I tried but to no avail, I still had a dark spot. I read further about explanation of dust or micro-organism (and how this should not be possible as they units are sealed airtight in the factory) and decided that I would knock the phone against my hand (more forgiving than a wall or table) to see if this helped. Lo and behold the dark spot disappeared!
It is worrying that there may be something falling around in front of the lens of my camera and just hope it does not reappear soon....

  • E72 Camera issue (black screen)

Hi everyone, I am having a problem with the camera in my E72. When I try to use it, it givesme a blank, black screen (no image is visisble as through the lens). Although the right hand side of menu does appear on screen if I press the button, nothing can be selected. It is as if the camera application gets hanged.
I recently updated firmware that resolved the issue. However, it was hardly for 2-3 days and it came back and am unable to use camera again.
Anyone faced same issue, or tried something to resolve it?

The "Ultimate Solution" is not the hard reset because i tried it with the "bloated other files" problem and this camera issue, and it didnt cure the problem.
I just got the headsup from Nokia Care Point that my device couldnt be fixed in a reasonable time so am being sent a replacement. so i'll advice if your device is still warranty  covered, then send it to a  Nokia Care Point.
The Engineers couldnt fix it in two weeks so its obvious even a software revamp wont fix it, let alone a hard reset.
    Cheers

  • Nokia 6700 camera issue

When i select the camera function the screen is black and does not display any image to take a photo of, for a splt second when i first select the camera it will show the background image but then it just goes black, any ideas?

does your phone have the latest SW ? if it does then it would be recommended to take it back to the shop where you bought it or to Nokia care for repair.

  • Nokia N8 camera issue

I just bought a new Nokia N8 3 days ago.  The problem I had so far is I cannot take a picture with "camera key".  After holding it for 2s, the red light starts off and the green focus indicator appears.  But after that, it would not take the picture, and the green focus square is still there ( I'm still holding the camera key)
I have to use the camera icon on the screen to take picture, and that's fine.
Is there anybody has the same problem with me ?
Thank you so much in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I always use the icon to take pictures because I was finding that pressing the button half way and then all the way down often resulted in a blurred picture because I had moved the camera slightly.
I much prefer the icon because it takes all those steps out, leaving you free to hold the camera (phone)
    History: Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i, N82

  • Z10 Camera Issues - Black image, no pics

During use of the rear camera on my Z10, the live image started to show streaks of lines in blue, green, or red, with the rest of the image being a shade of one of those colors.  The pictures taken would look like these distorted images. I restarted the device and also pulled the battery.  Initially no help, though after another restart, the live image now shows black, as if the camera has a lens cap over it.  When trying to take a pic (even though a black image), it clicks as if it’s taking pic, but nothing is being saved.  I’ve swapped options between saving to device and SD card (and removing the card), no change.  So at this point, black image on live view and no pics recorded/saved when taken.  Front camera seems ok.  Any thoughts?

might be a bad camera, you could back it up and wipe it to prove that it is not the OS

  • Nokia 5500 camera issue.. can someone help me

On hubby's phone, he tried to take a video/photo, usually presses the shortcut key and it comes up with the camera viewfinder straight away, e.g. you see what you want to take a photo of, press capture etc.
Now when you press the camera shortcut, a blank screen comes up, it says "image" up the top of the screen in a blue bar and it also has an arrow pointing to the battery icon. What does this mean and can it be fixed?
Any help would be great! Thanks in advance.

It appears your camera menu flunked. Take a back up of your phone. Do a reset *#7370#. This will restore the phone factory default and remember this will also delete all the data on your phone.
What is your firmware version by the way
You can check by pressing *#0000#.
Check if latest firmware is available at http://www.nokia.co.uk/A4777090
If you find then update your firmware using Nokia software updator.
This needs to installed too if you don't have it.

  • Nokia E72 Camera Issue

Hi, I've been using E72 for almost 4 years now and the camera recently got something weird happening.
First, sometimes after I took a picture, the picture was simply lost: I can't find it inside gallery. And this occured randomly, especially when I rushed to start "Camera" application, and right after I took the photo, I exit the app.
Second, the image that I took, also sometimes are broken. These two pictures attaced simply says it. (luckily I took 2 pictures of that moment).
    Anyone can suggest a solution?
    Thank you.

I've somehow solved my second problem. It is not the problem of my phone, instead when I connect my phone to my computer, I saw that the picture is perfectly stored in my phone (I just copied that file to my computer). Maybe last time there is some syncing error.
As for the other problem, because it appears occasionally, I think I will try one of your methods. Thank you guys for the suggestions.

  • IPhone 5 - black spot when I take pics with my back camera

first there came 2 black spots but now there are tons! How do I fix it? It's only with the back cam and I'be already cleaned it multiple times

Probably the lens is dirty, you can't do anything expect going to an Apple Store and ask for a genius..

  • Black spot on camera?

This just started happening today.. I have a black spot on the upper right portion of my rear camera..it only shows when I'm trying to use the camera. The outer glass or plastic over the camera is clean. I don't see any dirt or scratches or anything. When I zoom to a certain point, the black spot goes away, zoom back out and it comes back...
is my inner lens screwed up or dirty? It honestly hasn't been dropped or put anywhere near water.
    help?

    Hi mommylo89,
    Welcome to the forum!
We need to check if this is caused by the software or hardware of the phone. First, May we know what is the model of the device? Have you tried restarting the phone or performing a reset? Performing a reset will refresh the system of the phone. If it's still the same after that, possible that it is a hardware issue and that you need to send it for check up at the Nokia Care Point.

  • Black spot on the camera

Two random black spots appeared on my camera display, the phone didn't get wet or anything, seems like dirt from the inside...  should I take it to apple's customers service? anybody with the same problem?
    thank you

I have the same issue - perhaps not exact but extremely similar.  In photo mode, there is a small purplish speck, which I initially thought as dust or something, and of course it ends of in photos taken.  However, this speck is not present in video mode, meaning there is no dust, but some sort of artifact on the photo processor or something.  Either way, itsa product defect - I plan on seeing if Apple will support this and replace thephone.....

  • Black spot on back camera

hello everyone, I just bought my friend's iPhone 4 which is replacement from the Authorize seller in Indonesia. • Black spot on my iPhone 3Gs Camera

Even though outer hardware looks completely damage less, the Camera is showing small black spot and it's also showing up on the picture i take with it.
It just simply dosen't go away,
I been to everywhere and they all come with same answer; "go to apple"
I wondering if apple will exchange this right away with out a hassle.
Anyone had same problem? what do you do about it?

I´ve noticed the same think as you. On my camscreen I´ve got a crocked line.
Didn´t have that black line before, so I´ve thought it was a minor bump that caused this to happend.
So... hmm... If a bump on the cam side of the phone could cause this, a new
bump on the same side would fix it again?
Down to business: smack! right on my knee twice, and look: the black spot in
the cam app is now gone!
Think I should go to the store and let them have a look at it.
But wait for weeks for a replaced/fixed one? Don´t think so.
So if you dare: Try slapp your baby once or twice on the lense side corner.
    Worked for me!
