Nokia N8 messages

hello, everybody
my nokia N8 does not save meessages on sd card
we need this method :
Messages > Options > Setting > Other > Save messages on : sd card
we used before on other Symbian like my old Nokia N96
please help me

You are right, it does not. However, messages do not take up that much space so you should not have any problems on the N8 as with the N96 which has much less memory.
I will only be speculating as to the reason why but I think it has something to do with the reliability of sd cards causing phones to crash with messaging.

Issue 1: Message Sender Name/Field is not updated automatically after changes made in contacts.
e.g. Message send by Mr. A is displayed in inbox, however when same contact changed to Mrs. AB in contacts does not update sender name/field inside inbox. Sender name remains Mr. A physically on handset. However the changes made to contacts and Message Sender Name/Field is updated automatically on use of Nokia PC Suite 7.1.60.0 and Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290 but not on phone.

Nokia Email Messaging with Proxy

Hi
I am having problem with Nokia Messaging. I am using E71 in office but my office have proxy server. I have put down proxy settings into my WLAN > advance settings. i.e 10.10.xxx..xxx with port number 8881. When I am browsing internet it works fine, even i can use youtube and facebook. But Nokia email Messaging does not seems to be work. Has anyone got this problem. I have got firmwire version 3

The proxy server is normally used only for web acess (HTTP/HTTPS), so I don't think any other application (messaging, fring, etc.) will even try to use it, and even if they do try to use, it will most likely not work..

Nokia Email Messaging

Hello pple,am using nokia 5730,i want to set up a new account for university email.Its on OTHER so I need to manually enter the settings.These settings work fine with Nokia inbuilt messenger.On Nokia Email Messaging,the setup works fine but to complete it,it fails??I just downloaded it today hoping for some fixes but NOT.Any help?

I experienced the same issue today with my e71, however the problem now only appears to be related to my hotmail account. My ovi account and my university webmail are now working again.
For the hotmail a message appears in the inbox stating i need to upgrade my messaging app, however when i click the link, it simply downloads and installs the same version number.
Is your issue isolated to hotmail? I have contacted nokia support via email, but will be ringing them first thing if the service is not back up.

6310i Nokia Inbox messages don't show sender number, even though there are saved on the phone.
In the inbox, outbox, Archive folder. I can read the senders message but there number agaist the msg doesn't appear.
I check to see if the numbers has not been entered twice on my mobile. stranger.
I have backed uo and restored my phone recently using oxygen??
pls help.

I think oxygen may have stripped away the sender details.

The Demerits of Nokia Text Message Editor.
Following will be disscussing the demerits of Nokia Text Message Editor.
1). Firstly Nokia Text Message Editor does not support CDMA handsets. I know that there is no FBUS cable option for CDMA phones, but why Nokia is not providing it i dont understand. I have been requesting for the same fron a very long time.
2).The Nokia Text Message Editor in the new Pc Suite is very slow. I mean it takes a lot of time send a sms. The versions are 6.83 and 6.82 which r very slow. The earlier version 6.81 sends sms very fast, so i use the old version. If u reply a sms it takes nearly 2-3 mins to reply. and that also i not guranteed.
3)There are no shortcuts defined for using Nokia Text Message Editor. Like Reply should with Ctrl+R, Forwad sholud be with Ctrl+F,send sms with Ctrl+S etc. Theres only option of New with Ctrl+N. I think Nokia sholud provied all the shortcut keys to make Nokia Text Message Editor more savy.
I will disscussing more as per the response.

Major problem using Nokia Test Message Editor

Using Nokia Test Message Editor on PC Suite 6.83 to create a new message (via USB cable), when I click on create new message (works fine) and then when I click on the "To" button, it says error. It asks me to close program as it has performed an illegal operation. Whys that? The only way I can currently get it to work is by manually entering the phone number but just cant use teh To button.

No that's not helping, "oh boy".
I tried to Repair PC Suite from the Unistaller, same error.
Then I uninstalled PC Suite, restarted, ran PC Suite Cleaner 3.5 to get rid of registry settings and files. Then I noticed some old data in Application Data\PC Suite (old IMEIs) which I all deleted, then I restarted again and installed the newest PC Suite back. It asked me to install MMSync onto my phone, which I did. (see separate bug report on that
Then it gave me a message that some "Old Contact Browser data was found and has been moved to a separate folder", which I think is somehow related to the Contacts bug which I had described for a previuos PCS version, under my old nick "zak1974". Feeling good and all hopeful at last, I launched the Contact browser and it got all contacts with no problem, I went to Messages - Inbox. Clicked on Create New Message button, then "To" - only to find the same bug, which I am perfectly able to reproduce and describe on any level reaqired, as I have saved all screenshots and messages on the way to the Text Message Editor crash. All the above gives me some right to declare a software/firmware bug with the versions of products I had described in my first post.
Any other ideas?

i have downloaded and installed Nokia Instant Messaging from messaging.nokia.com but its only sign in to ovi account not gmail or yahoo. it telling me i need sum kinda subscribtion press reject. how to get it work.
btw im using nokia c5.

Nokia E71: Messaging Button and Name and Date Form...

Two questions:
1. When in stand-by mode and I click on the Messaging button, it always directs me to my e-mail. I would like to set it as such that it will go to my Inbox, instead.
2. Is there a name separator I can use? On my inbox, the name format is "Last Name First Name". Is there a way I can change it to "Last Name, First Name" or much better would be "First Name Last Name"?
3. Lastly, I prefer my dates with the months spelled out, like "15 Nov 2008" instead of "15.11.08" It works for older Nokia models, like my brother's phone. Where can I set this for my new E71?

1: Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> General -> Personalisation -> One-touch Keys and change it from there. there are different options for short presses and long presses.
2: I think you need to get your contacts organised which in turn will organise your inbox! Go to your contacts -> Options -> Settings -> Name Display....
3: Can't help you with number 3 since they dont seem to have the ability to have the name of the month displayed, just the number of it. Maybe someone else knows how its done. Good luck to you.

Nokia 6610 Messages are not received

I bought a new Nokia 6610, I have recieved all contacts sms ratherthan my one friend, I myself a sent sms from his mobile, after few seconds we have received a delivery report, but in my mobile, there was no message, when I put the sim another mobile, I can recieved the same user's sms, whats problem?? can any one suggest, I think the user may be add in screening name, but i could not found this option in my mobile

I have a basic Nokia prepaid phone....My issues is that One contact can not receive my sms..One day he could, the next he cant...I have stood next to him and sent one and nothing..I get "Message sent" and he gets nothing...Im being charged for my message and it is in my sentbox....Can anyone help me with this problem..Im using Telsra preepaid and have called to ask what the problem maybe but all seems well on my end..Ive turned Phone off and removed Sim to another phone which has failed to rectify the situation....He hasnt put me on a block list and I have no numbers in my screening application on my mobile..I did however send him mesage that failed to sent because credit was to low and after recharging He no longer receives any messages from me but can from others...I can also recieve messages from him.....Any suggestions would be much appreciated as I cant get much info elsewhere....

I hav amonth old nokia 5233 ,whenever i message more than 3-4 people it gets very slow......during that time i cant open another application.......

hey dude see that which memory are you taking in use..........
if u are using memory card than it will take as usual long time which is as said ur problem......but if u use phone memory as primary memory in case of messaging thn it wont take long time.................

Putting content onto my Nokia N97-messages, calend...

How do I put the message,contact,calender icons on to the main screen of my Nokia N97? I ahve gone through the options>edit content>add content>edit content procedure but when i get to the contents the above choices aren't there. Am I looking in the wrong place.Could someone please help.

from your home screen you will select options button bottom left and select edit content again. you can move the widgets around, in the order you want them and you can also remove a widget you no longer want. if you are using online widgets you can also select in that menu for the content to either go online or offline to save battery power.
not all apps can be displayed as widgets hence you have the short cut widget option for that. hope this helps

I got my Nokia N8, but all the message I sync into the Nokia Suite. However, I going to buy a Nokia's Windows Phone, how can I transfer all the message to Windows phone from the Nokia Suite?
