Nokia n8 no power

well well well,,here we go,,,n8 was working fine and i was happy,,until,,,had the phone on the nokia car charger on the way to work,,unplugged it,,and noticed screen was black,,now i cant turn it on or charge it,,,what a dissapointment knowing that i gottta return it back to dealer for repair and probably be without it for weeks and weeks,,is this just the start of nokia power problems in australia?

Take it to a NCC, if there's no liquid/physical damage to the handset it most likely will be swapped.
Hopefully you'll get an N8 that has no issues.

  • Nokia N8: Possible Power Saving Mode Bug

    Dear All,
For the past week, I've change the way I use my Nokia N8. I decided to set it up in power saving mode during the evening. There is no point for it to be on 3.5G if nobody is using it. Unfortunately, I seem to have hit a problem. At the moment, my N8 is using a pay as you go sim card from O2 and this card is in the phone 24/7.
When I activate power saving mode, the phone re-registers with the network and the maximum speed it will have will be EDGE. In the morning, when I take my phone I disable power saving mode and the phone re-registers again with the network.
Having said that, on multiple ocassions, my phone showed some worrying symptoms. For example, a few das ago, when I disabled power saving mode, the phone did not show the 3.5G icon and I could not make any phone calls. The coverage was up and down. You might say that, it did not show 3.5G because you had no 3.5G you idiot. That is not true, where I live, there is 3.5G everywhere.
I was shocked that I could not make any phone calls. After a few reboots and taking SIM card out, I managed to get the phone in working order.
Today, the same thing happened. I managed to fix it just a few moments ago. It seems that the power saving mode option has an implementation problem or O2 does not like the way the N8 registers to the network when you enable and disable the said feature.  Has anyone encountered this???

@m80116, this may well be a solution, but could be problematic if in a weak reception area where only Edge is available ? You could lose data connection completely ! I tend to use Dual mode, and generally don't have an issue, but certainly for anyone living and working in a very strong 3 or 3.5G area it may work very well, wish I had the luxury of being able to use 3G Only

    Hi wiise9,
    Welcome to the forum!
We can't verify yet if the issue is hardware or software related unless confirmed by Nokia authorized technicians. Just keep monitoring the phone's performance. If the issue happens again, best to try the troubleshooting steps shown at this link first further isolate it: Your Windows Phone 8 doesn't work or respond as expected

  • Nokia 6210 Navigator power up

    Hi,
I dropped my phone while it was ringing. It seemed like nothing happened to it, because i picked it up and answered the call. While i was in the call, i got disconnected and the phone displayed "Please insert a SIM card". So i turned it off, and now it won't turn back on. I'm getting the regular vibration and the screen seems to be on, but it dies after a few seconds. If i keep pushing the power on button, the screen stays lit up, until i release it.
I've tried charging it, removing the battery for 5 minutes, tried removing the SIM card.. nothing helps.
    Can someone please advise?
    Thank you in advance.

If it is associated with the fall then it is a probably a hardware problem. Unfortunately you won't resolve any hardware problems with reset, updates etc.. Best thing to do is to bring it to a Nokia Care Point and let them ascertain the extent of the damage.

  • New Nokia 5310 XpressMusic Power Adapter "Hizzing"

My girl and I upgraded and got brand new Nokia 5310 XpressMusic phones today. I just noticed a slight "hizzing" sound coming from the power adapters when the phones aren't plugged in for charging.
When you do charge the phones, the "hizzing" sound almost goes away. I thought it was just her phone, but I noticed the same problem on my phone adapter
Anyone else experienced or noticed this? Is this a known defect? I just hope this isn't like the batteries that had the overheat problem and dell had to do a massive recall. Mainly I just don't want to come home and find my house burned down.
    Curious George

What you're hearing is normal for a switch-mode power supply not under load. It's nothing to worry about. This said, you should remove the chargers from the wall socket when they're not in use anyway in order not to waste energy and not to wear them out prematurely.

  • Nokia 2760 problem: power off resets group members...

I've just bought a Nokia 2760, which so far I'm pretty pleased .
There is only one point I should like to know whether it is working as designed or I missing some step to make it work correctly.
I have no problem assigning members cards recorded on the phone to a group, but when I do it with members cards recorded on SIM, the group loose those members (SIM recorded) every time the phone is power-off.
It didn’t happened with my old 6310i.
    Thank anyone for an answer,
    Veronica_a_q

Try taking the battery out and leaving it out for at least 5 minutes. Unfortunately the 2760 is a very basic phone and there is very little you can do to it yourself apart from removing the battery. If the above doesn't work, I recommend taking the phones to your local Nokia Care Point to see if there is anything they can do there.

  • Nokia Lumia 1020 power consumption

    Hello,
On 5th of October 2013 I bought from Vodafone Romania a Nokia Lumia 1020. OS version: 8.0.10328.78. Firmware revision number: 3049.0000.1330.1001. Manufacter Name: RM-875_eu_hungary_298.
I'm syncing Microsoft Account daily (contacts only, no e-mail), one Outlook Exchange account every 15 minutes, one Google account every 30 minutes and one Yahoo! Mail account every hour.
I have also configured Twitter account, Facebook account and Nokia account. The Facebook application (the one developed by Microsoft) has notifications turned off. For Twitter I'm using Rowi application and this one also has notifications turned off. On home screen I have the Me tile which displays notifications when there are new items on Facebook and Twitter.
    The Facebook settings are:
    - Notifications: No notifications
    - Lock screen: Off
    - Location : Off
    - Enable shake to refresh: On
In Settings > Applications > background tasks > advanced I have:
    - AccuWeather
    - Battery Performance
    - extras+info
    - Facebook
    - HERE Drive+
    - Nokia Care.
I never leave applications running in background (the multitasking list is empty).
I'm on 3G. My data plan does not allow me to use 4G.
For the most part of the day I'm at work, in the office, and I'm not using my phone. It stays idle. Glance screen is configured on Peak so my phone's display is turned off most of the time.
I have WiFi turned off, NFC turned OFF, location turned off, XBOX syncronization turned off, music and videos syncronization turned off, find my phone turned off.
Today, I have received no phone calls, I have not dialed anybody, and my phone stayed on my desk for almost 9 hours. I did not take any pictures with my phone today.
And yet, for the most part of the day (from 09:00 AM to 07:00 PM), the Battery Performance application showed a steady discharge rate of 2% per hour.
Is this normal for a new Nokia Lumia 1020 in those given circumstances?
    Thank you.
    Cosmin Petrenciuc

Totally normal mate, you should get a wireless charger + shell and use your phone more and enjoy it between placing it on the charging plate on your desk!!

  • Nokia Lumia 2520 Power Keyboard

Hey Everyone. I have a slight problem. I recently purchased this tablet (Nokia Lumia 2520) because I was looking for neither a tablet or laptop. I wanted both. So I came to contact my Verizon dealer, who recommended this tablet because "It comes with a keyboard out of the box." However, as you may know, I opened the box and of course no keyboard!
I've been researching how to aquire this keyboard, and I've come to no avail. I can't buy it and I can't get my free one.
I'm greatly satisfied with the tablet so far. I have no doubts it's a fantastic product.
However, I've come to a crossroads with the keyboard. I'm greatly disappointed in the false advertisement.
What do you recommend I do?
I'd like to keep the tablet, but I'm not about to pay upwards of $120 for something that was supposed to come with it. I'll return it before that happens.

your only option of those peovided is to return it. you may recommend further training for the sales reps as well. the rep will hopeflly learn as $500 is a decent chunk of commission lost.

  • Nokia N8 -not power-

I'm having a problem in my Nokia N8. Bought it in the USA. The Nokia N8, hung up and won't turn on anymore. Nokia of Brazil, said he cannot give guarantee, however, I believe that Nokia will help me please.
    Thanks.
    *Sorry my english.

As I said before warranties are only valid in the regions the phones are bought in. This is because of local variations in consumer laws. For instance, the warranty period for my European N8 is for two years  because European law states that all electrical goods have to have two year warranties.
What you may need to do is either visit the USA again to get your phone repaired or, send the phone  by mail to a Nokia Care Point in the USA. I know both methods will be expensive but there isn't anything else you can do I'm afraid.
    All the best.
    Ray.

  • Nokia 6700 wont power up

I have just downloaded the most recent software for my Nokia 6700 Classic. I am now unable to switch it on.  Screen stays blank with a couple of flashes with a line across the screen.  Can anyone advise?
This phone is now over a year old.

Try removing the battery for a couple of minutes and then replace and restart. If that does not work you will probably need to have it checked out at your local Nokia Care Pont.

  • Nokia 5310 ExpressMusic power down at random

Hi, got this 5310, bought in Thailand, got new danish software on it, and just updatet it, with the neweste software update, but the damn thing, just power down at random, even with a fully charged battery. Help me

Removing it from the case eliminates any possibility of something shorting out against the case as well as giving you a chance to examine the back side for discoloration or burn marks.
not sure exactly what to look for, but I don't see anything out of the ordinary on the back of the mobo.
I have a strange update... at first I could use the monitor with my old pc, but an hour ago when I tried to hook it up, it did the same thing it does on the new computer. Lights flash on and off, doesn't come on permanently. This is veeeery strange, because it technically rules out all the hardware in my new pc as the cause of this. To make things stranger, the monitor connects to onboard just fine. It only malfunctions when connected to the Geforce 2 or my new 7900GS. But I have gotten both pcs to boot, monitor included, before. It doesn't make any sense. Early yesterday I had the monitor connected to this old pc through the Geforce 2. Late last night, when I tried to connect them again, it adopted the symptoms of the new computer. So it seems like this problem has to do with the monitor, but I find it strange that it decides to become defective the very same time I'm building a new pc. Plus, it DOES work with onboard.
    ugh...
