Nokia n8 photos max. 2 MB, why?

Hi, my two days old Nokia N8 takes pictures with low quality. As it would be a white screen in front of the lense. But only on the photos, by focusing there is no problem with the picture. And the pictures are too small, I think: between 483 kb (!) -2,21 MB (of course I have 12 MB as default in the settings). Should I bring it back to the shop?

Although the native resolution of the sensor is 12 MPixels which should give at the very least 12MBytes files (and even 3 times more as color coding is 24 bits, but this is reduced by the Bayer color filtering system), the resulting file is compressed by the Jpeg method which leads to much lighter files.
It greatly depends of the image content. Large uniform areas in the pictures like blue sky or white snow support higher compression and the resulting files can be very small. It also depends on the amount of available light. Low light pictures need to be strongly processed to minimize high ISO noise which is done by rearranging or removing some high frequency and color informations. Less informations give smaller files too. The same if the lens is not perfectly focused or if the camera was shaking while taking the picture. Blurred images also contain less informations.
Now for the white halo. It seems to be caused by flare where some of the flash light reflecting on your finger is coming back to the lens (flare is a haze caused by a very bright light source shining into the lens but not in the image). It should happen only with flash photography and should be prevented by keeping your fingers away from the flash and lens assembly.

  • Nokia at Adobe MAX

For those of you attending MAX in a few weeks, wanted to let you know that Nokia will have 3 sessions and will be sharing an exhibit area with Adobe where we'll be showcasing some of the Open Screen Project Fund winners.
    More details here: http://www.mobileperry.com/2009/09/nokia-at-adobe-max.html
I'll be there as will several other Forum Nokia colleagues and look forward to meeting you.

Yeah, they invited me to speak about Spry, so why not. Even though my
session didn't go as well as i practised. I recieved allot good
comments about it from some attendees, so i definitely converted some
souls ;). And talking with the community was great as well, allot of
feedback gotten about the Spry framework it self.
Also finally got the chance to meet Scott Fegette, so that was cool as
well. It was a successful MAX I think, and Spry really well
represented among the other sessions. And by the sounds of DW CS5 is
gonna rock peoples worlds with the upcoming changes.
As long you guys go to MAX 2010 it will be fine ;). I still feel
bummed out about missing you last year.
I already heard from David powers that you are currently traveling the
world visiting other Adobe Teams. Really cool.
And can't wait to get my hands on the Spry 2.0

  • I never had this problem before but all of a sudden when I go to "edit" a photo the photo turns black.  All the editing functions appear but I cannot see any picture.  When I hit "done" the photo reappears. Why can I no longer see my photo for editing pu

For years I have had no problems editing photos.  However, for some reason when I go to "edit" my photo the photo turns BLACK/BLANK.  The editing functions appear but I cannot see the photo.  When I select "done" the photo reappears.  Why is the photo disappearing for editing?  Have I hit a command accidentally that is causing this?  Really appreciate someone's assistance.

    Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run  Option #1, Repair Permissions, followed by Option #4, Rebuild Database, if needed.

  • I can't find any of my photos on ICloud, why?

I can't find any of my photos on ICloud, why?

    1. Tap the Photos app or the camera icon
    2. Tap the camera icon to open it then tap the box bottom left side of the display. That's your camera roll.
iCloud photos are stored in both.
If you do not see any photos, tap Settings > iCloud > Photos the make sure:  My Photo Stream is switched ON.
If that doesn't help, make sure you have setup an iCloud account > Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.

    iPhoto 7.1.5.
    I chose these settings:
    Kind: JPEG
    Quality: medium
    Include title and keywords (checked)
    Size: small
    File name: use title
I guess that is what you meant. Thanks for replying.

  • Two folders in the Photo Photostream. Why?

    I Have iPhone 3GS (iOS 5.0)
After synchronization iTunes 10.5 with my phone:
Two folders in the Photo Photostream.
    Why?

No idea what this folder is. Sounds like it is something you created & named.
    •My Music > iTunes > iTunes Media > Music
This is the default folder iTunes uses for music.

When I am syncing one albumn and then another the previous synced photos gets deleted why is it so?

That is how it works. Synced photos can't deleted directly on the iPad, instead that are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync - so you need to select and sync all the photos that you want to remain on the iPad on each photo sync

  • Why does Photos max out my CPU?

Just "upgraded" to 10.10.3 on my MacBook Pro and converted to Photos.  Every time Photos is open, a couple of seconds later, the fan is running full-bore and only stops when I close Photos.  I looked at Activity Monitor, and it is clear Photos is crushing my CPU (see attached screen shot).  What's happening?  Why is Photos crushing my CPU?  Thanks!

    Let it run.

The 50+ GB Library on my i5 Mac took less than 2 hours to settle down. The same 50+ GB on my 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo took almost 3 hours.

  • Nokia N86 Photos corrupt and Photo App not working

My photo's seem to be getting corrupted after I have taken them and I don't know why. I can copy them on to my computer but when I go into the photo's app they were broken images but I can't find them via file manager. Then I was unable to get into the photo app at all. It just wouldn't open.

    Hi varunreddy444,
    Welcome to Nokia discussions board!
You can in fact reinstall an update that you have installed on your device. Just connect your phone to Nokia Suite on your PC and go to software updates and "reinstall".
If the issue persists, please reset your device. First of all back up all contents: Options > Back up on Nokia Suite. Then type *#7370# on your phone's keypad. When prompted, enter lock code 12345 which is by default, or the code you have changed it to. You will then be able to access social apps and Nokia Store again.
Let us know how you get on and feel free to post any other questions you may have.

  • Nokia Smart Photo questions

On my Lumia 620, an app called Smartfoto was already installed. (I assume it's Smart Photo in english).
It takes a 5 or so pictures and you pick one you like, or edit and make one.
When I copy these photos to my computer, they look like the picture I selected and nothing more, however on my phone I can (re-)open them in Smartfoto and I can see all 5 photos again.
I assume I can save one, import on computer, save the next, import that etc, but seems lot a lot of work.
Is there a way to save all 5 in a series in an easy way?

    Hi Blastcore,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Are you referring to the pre-installed apps? If yes, these apps are fixed and integrated with the software of the phone. This is the reason why you cannot delete them on your phone. For your second concern, the default browser is your phone browser. Hope this helps.

  • Why are some of my pictures not in photo stream?, Why are some of my pictures not in photo stream?

I hAve saved a few photos into my photo album on my iPhone  and some of them have transferred to my photo stream and to my iPad, but not all.
Why is it only some? And how do I get the ones that have uploaded to upload?

    Try resetting Photo Stream ..
On the iPad, tap Settings > iCloud
Turn Photo Stream off then back on then restart your iPad.
Hold the power button until "slide to power off" appears.  Slide to power off.  After it is off, press the power button to turn it back on.
