Nokia N8 Sim Card Issue

Hello, I have a nokia n8 that is 5 months old and the sim card is not being identified, i sent the unit in for warranty repair per nokia telephone customer support but i just received word that they will not repair my phone. It is coming back in the same condition.
I want to know if there is any thing else i can do or am i just out of $400? i am contacting nokia about a possible replacement but if that dont work does anyone know how hard it would be to replace the sim card slot on the mainboard.
I have seen pics and vids of the slot on the mainboard but no pics good enough for me to tell how the sim slot  is connected to the mainboard. at this point warranty is worthless so what will i be voiding by opening the unit? any help is appreciated.

i wemt thru the whole scharade of diff sims, resets ....blah, blah...sent unit into warranty...had it back in a few days...note said warranty os voided because i abused my phone....lol...NOT TRUE. I have otterbox cover and clear film over the screen. since i have no warranty, i opened it, btw..waranty did not, i flund some of the sim pns broken. I ordered two new slots, will be here in three weeks, reassembled the phone and im replying with this message from it(gotta luv wifi)
at this point, i have agreat camera and internet tablet that made calls and texts for five months and now NOKIA WARRANTY left me holding the bag, there is very little info on the n8 but i did manage to get a schematic, i know some people use jumpers to bypass a bad ic circuit, i sure would loke an outcome like that or have nokia send me a new phone

  • Droid DNA HTC Sim Card Issues Part 2

Ok so I posted about the Sim card and it will not let me reply to the people who posted on my post or reply to my own comment.  Here is the original post:
Droid DNA HTC Sim Card Issues
    Update:
My phone Started the low ringing before I received the new card tray from HTC.  So I went to Verizon and explained the issues and they looked at my account and noticed that I was on my 3rd Sim card.  Wife has the same phone and was having the same issues but on her first SIM card. They replaced both phones... the New SIM card tray arrived and I placed it in my new Replacement phone.... its been 2 weeks and I have not had any SIM card issues..... still Waiting to see what happens if any... no on the other hand my wifes new replacement phone has had SIM card issues with in 4 days.  I will be contacting HTC directly for a new SIM card tray for her phone and here is HTC TECH support # if you would like to get help 1-866-449-8353  Good luck and I hope this clears up problems..... Just remember even though we are all fusterated by our phone problems we still need to go through al the steps to solve the problem before we jump to having VZW just give us a different brand of phone for lemon issues......

  • Nokia N8 sim card problem please help!!

I have been the proud owner of a Nokia N8 for about 9 months now without any problems or issues jus some random bugs...since N8 is a troubled device as we all know. But anyways jus now it has come up with lots of issues...at first my phone started to restart as soon as the phone started up. Even before all the apps loaded up and i tried around 15 times to switch off and start and stuff. But to no avail...so i went on some forums and blogs and got some tips like resetting it by holding down the power button for 8 secs and everything but still the same problem. Now, I removed my sim card and put in a different one and VOILA it worked!!! No restart so I thought maybe the older sim was faulty. but as i put the old sim in another phone...it worked in that phone! I was dumbfounded as the sim was working on my n8 before toO! ......so i just ignored it and i used the other sim in my n8 but not for long after half an hour the phone was not starting up sim card or no sim card. so i flashed my phone to the official Symbian Anna and i tried booting up without a sim card and the phone works properly. but as soon as I put in the sim card and switch the profile to normal mode..the phone freezes for about 5-6 seconds and reboots only to find my phone in offline mode again and same problem. I have tried changing sim cards nd memory cards, reset, reflash, format the mass memory, and everything else possible but in vain. The problem still exists!! Can anyone please help me as Im very fond of the phone and I dont want to send it to the service center as they would come up with some lame excuses + i hav lost my warranty card!! Please help....and btw the phone works flawlessly without a sim card! And also, in offline mode when i switch on the bluetooth...the phone freezes and restarts! Evn the WLAN keeps on searching for network and doesnt find any even though there is! Any help would be appreciated... thank you!

Just want to say "I dont have my warranty card"
No official Nokia care point will say this as they can check the warranty satus online using your IMEI number- if they do not do this, either insist they do or report them to nokia care direct and lodge a complaint. (0845 045 55 55 from the UK)
Even if the warranty has expired online, this can be extended if you can provide a proof of purchase date. This can be a delivery reciept if you bought online, or your high street retailor will be able to provide you with a copy if you ask them- even your original service agreement should be enough. Remember you get a full 2 years warranty with all Nokia handsets.
Nokia Care are there to help, not to make things difficult for you. They go through untold amounts of training to ensure you get your handset back as soon as possible in a fully working order.
I feel bad you feel such reluctance to contact a care centre, Nokia have gone to massive efforts to provide consumers with this kind of readily available support.
If you are in the UK and your local care centre is not helping you I would suggest you call the one i use, they will give you all the advice you need 01242 539539 (i hope giving out this info is ok on the forums)

  • Thunderbolt SIM card issues??

I was having internet connection issues with my thunderbolt and they sent me out another SIM card and did a master reset. I put the SIM card in restarted it and I turned it back on and it has a pickture of a SIM card with an explanation mark and it wont activate. Whats the problem and how can it be fixed??

Hello ladygaga1! Welcome to the community!
Since it has been several days, I am hoping your issue has been resolved by now. It sounds like your SIM card has not been activated at this time. If you are still having issues, you can activate by going to your My Verizon account, choose Activate or Switch Device under "I Want to..." You will need the IMEI from the device first, and then the SIM card number (both can be found in Settings>About phone>Phone identity) to activate.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

  • Lenovo P780 - Sim Card Issue

Hi,  I bought the lenovo P780 2 months back.  Suddenly, It is not able to detect any of my sim cards though the sim cards are active. Cant send any messages, make any calls. Says Emergency calls only.  Please suggest a solution.

Same issue was faced by me 4 months back in Dec'14, as my phone was in warranty hence fixes came free, but now from past month I am again facing the same problem but this time warranty had expired. I observed that both the time there was a screw near SIM which went loose. This is pathetic service and is very disappointing, can anybody guide if there is any way to raise issue with Lenovo.deepak123 wrote:

  • Note 4 Sim card issues

I have been having issues with my phone detecting my sim card.  It works fine but randomly has fits where i have to restart my phone because it cant detect my sim card.  Occasionally i will have to do this repeatedly in a row... yesterday i had to restart my phone 17 times and remove/replace the sim card until it finally started working again.
Then occasionally i will lose all service and data until i restart my phone.
Is anyone else having issues like this??

Same here...I've been getting the same message on my Note4.  I've gone as far as removing the sim card, restarting, clearing cache, etc.  Now I have times where I cannot make or receive calls due to this issue.  Were you able to resolve your issue?

  • Droid DNA HTC Sim Card Issues

I know there is multiple Post about this issue!  Here is my latest Info.. I am on my 3rd Sim card same phone.  first card was replaced 10 days after I got the phone.  Second card was replaced 3 days ago. both times I was resetting the phone 4-6 times a day.  Went to the VZW store the were going to have a new phone sent but with my line of work emergency services I needed the Phone working now so I took the 3rd sim card for now and called *611 they have more lateral to work with you.  Talked with tech support and per HTC its the SIM card tray. had a 3 way call with VZW tech support and HTC tech support. They have a new SIM card tray that they are sending out to me instead of replacing the whole phone. They think this is the fix.  We will see.

  • Sim card issues

My galaxy 3 won't read the sim card now but it was working fine s4 is on contract and s3 is prepaid help

We certainly don't want to see you having trouble with your SIM, Renee1939. Both the Galaxy S III and Galaxy S 4 use a Micro SIM and should be able to use the same SIM, but your difficulty may be due to the SIM being used between two different types of services. Please dial 888-294-6804 from a number other than your prepaid phone to work with the Prepay Customer Service Team to get your S III up and running with a prepaid SIM.

  • Droid Turbo Sim Card Issue

I just bought a turbo online full price, I have an active verizon account. How do I get a sim card for the new phone?

Sim cards are free at your local Corporate VzW store or by contacting Customer Service.

  • HT2309 so can i use my nokia optus sim card in an iphone and have all the same options (plans, features etc...)?

I want to buy an iphone but use the optus sim im currently using in my nokia phone, is that possible? and can i swap sims over all the time if the iphones unlocked?

Is your optus SIM a full size one or a microSIM? If the latter you will have to cut it to make it fit in the iPhone. It would be easier just to get a new one from Optus.

  • Why am i having sim card issues

This happened before, but stopped. Now it is back with a vengeance

You have not given any information about your problem. Possibly your SIM is bad, and you will have to Visit Carrier for a new SIM. But before that try Toggling ON and OFF Airplane Mode, obviously leaving it OFF. Try Reset Network Settings, click App Settings>click General>at bottom click Reset>click Reset Network Settings. If this does not work take a Paper Clip open SIM Tray and then slide SIM Tray back in securely. If all fails you could try a Firmware Restore in iTunes. If this fails Visit Carrier.

  • Droid DNA SIM card issue--I want to be issued a completely different phone.

So as most (if not all) Droid DNA users are aware--there's a BIG problem with the device/software. The updates aren't fixing it like they are supposed to, in fact for me the errors are worse than ever! A simple restart won't even get rid of it so I have to do it 5 times before it finally goes away. I don't want to be issued another Droid DNA that is going to be just the same with the same issue (thats simply a waste of my time and frankly the Droid DNA has already wasted enough of my time already)
I want verizon to issue me a completely different phone, because when I paid for my phone I paid a lot of money for a phone that I thought would work 24/7--but no, this phone is obviously defective. And I DO NOT want to deal with this for another 2 yrs.
SO my question is---I know I'm not the only one out there that feels this way, has anyone talked to verizon about issuing them a completely different phone free of charge or paying the difference (in the event the cost would be more for a particular phone during the 2 yr contract renewal)
(thanks for any feed back, I'm dreading going up to the store and talk to the people who just want your money or will just tell me they will issue me a new Droid DNA, I've seen the other discussions, the phones the people are getting have the same exact problem!!)

So I wanted to give you all an update, I finally decided to do a chat with a verizon online rep--I refuse to go to a store in fear that I might blow up. I guy I talked to was understanding to the issue and told me what I needed to do..do I like what he said? No, but I was at least happy he understood the frustration and actually ACKNOWLEDGED that this is indeed an issue.
This is basically what he said in a nut shell:
    1) Do a factory reset--supposively that will help with the software update
I backed all my pictures/contacts up on goggle+ and all your apps will be in google play (all except my candy crush           extra lives which I thought was odd/conspiracy)
        RESULT: same error times 5.
I expressed my hate in having to do the reset but I'm basically going to have to back all my stuff up anyways if I get           a new phone
    2) Request a replacement phone--because I spoke to him thru the chat our conversation can be saved to my profile so whoever assits me next will be able to pick up where we left off---I find this to be EXTREMEMLY CONVENIENT! (you can also have the convo emailed to yourself for reference)
RESULT: Haven't done this yet but I'm waiting for the chat to become avail so I can request a replacement. But I'm              assuming it will NOT work.
    3) Once they replace the phone and in the event I still get the error I have to contact HTC and they will have to replace my phone, Verizon apparently cannot do anything after that.
I want to say I'm made as all get out but I guess I understand that its a HTC issue and not so much a Verizon                      issue..they are basically just stuck in the middle. Do I agree with having to contact HTC--NO. But at this point I will           do whatever I have to do to get a new phone because I HATE THIS PHONE.
My recommendation--Use the so you can have reference and evidence of the issues and evidence for HTC that you have done everything possible to get this resolved.
(to go to Chat: go to Verizon wireless website>contact us (upper right hand corner)>get in touch>Chat now (if avail)
