Nokia N8 Slow?

My N8 keeps on getting slower and slower when it comes to turning it on and turning it off or when trying to load a app E.g. camera? What can I do to make this faster I don't download apps I just mainly use my phone for the camera and texting / calling and emails? I was thinking about formatting and starting new would this help? (Yes I have backed up) and Yes I have every update that is out for the N8
Thanks
-Jemil

Hey Jemil,
How much of your memory card is free? If you have used up all your memory this would cause it to be slow.
In order to free memory, you could also remove or move the following:
Messages from Inbox, Drafts and Sent folders in Messaging.
Retrieved e-mail messages from the phone memory.
Saved Web pages. Clear the web browser cache to free some memory (select Options > Clear privacy data > Cache).
Saved images, videos, or sound files.
Contact information.
Calendar notes.
Downloaded application packages.
If there are applications which are not needed any more, uninstall them (select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App.mgr. > Installed apps.).
Any other data that you no longer need
However performing a hard reset would most definitely make it alot faster.

  • Firmware upgrade Nokia 5230 - SLOW device!

I see that the device 5233 had an firmware upgrade availibe from 12.1.089 to 12.1.092. This upgrade is now not availible for the nokia 5230. This device is much slower than the 5233 and 5800.
Is there a way to make this upgrade also soon availible for the nokia 5230? Because this device has now only the firmware version 12.1.089

try to uninstall them and re-install on memory card not phone memory
it's the reason if you installed these apps on phone memory

  • Nokia 2330 slow

I recently received a Nokia 2330, which is pretty slow for a S40 phone.
But these days I meet some one who had the same phone, but fast as a S40 phone should be.
One thing, I observed is that my phone has a option Extra (when you press left button - which I don't want and probably this is one of the reason that the phone is moving so slowly). The acquaintances phone doesn't have that option. He has the classic menu.
Any tips to get the same response from my phone, as the phone's acquaintance?

Though the compatibility I am not sure with.. you may download and install the latest version of Nokia Suite on your PC and then connect the phone to PC thru' BT. Open Nokia Suite --> Messaging.. Then at the bottom next to the Phone Icon select Inbox. it will open all messages in the phone's Inbox in the Middle column. Do not select SYNC but manually select about 20-25 messages and Drag-and-Drop them to the 'Conversations' folder at the top. Then select next 20-25 messages and repeat the process till you are finished with all messages.. Though time consuming, this seems to be the ONLY solution in this scenario ..

  • Nokia 5800 slower than a snail at sending sms

My 5800 is a waste of time for sending messages, hangs for ages.  I've searched forums for advice, found a sms accelerator to download, even downloaded it from the nokia website, an cannot install any of them.  Followed every step and advice that people have given with no luck.  Not very impressed at all with this phone, for the money it costs the features are poor and the performance is a joke.

I've had no performance issues with my 5800xm at all.  It runs fast and smooth and has only crashed about three times in three months.
Quite often problems are caused by 3rd party apps, apps installed on the memory card or corrupt memory cards, which does seem to be quite common with the supplied 8GB cards.
As for SMS sending issues this could be caused by a corrupt card slowing the phone down or an older sim card. Switch the phone off, remove the memory card, switch on and see if it's improved.  To test the sim try another persons sim in your phone or ask your network for a free replacement.
Also make sure you are running the latest firmware by checking www.nokia.com/softwareupdate

  • Nokia 5800: Slow Internet Browser

I recently bought a Nokia 5800 XM, and I was happily using all it's applications perfectly. Suddenly, for no apparant reason, the in built web browser became awfully slow. I have no applications running in the background, I am definatly connected to Wi-Fi, even though the problem still occurs on 3G aswell. I can connect to the internet perfectly using Ovi Store, and Music Store. It's just for some reason, the in-built web browser alone has gone painfully slow, so slow in fact, that it quits the application and returns me the home screen! I have tried restoring to factory settings, reinstalling my phone software using Nokia PC Suite, I even uninstalled all the applications using the application manager, but none of them work. I use Opera Mobile and it works a treat, but the in built browser is better, and is the default one for hyperlinks etc. I would like to know how to find the problem, just to clarify, I am having no problems at all with any other of the applications...

Hi, you can go into options on windows live and disable automatic start up in settings/connection.In web Browser, once your homescreen opens, select Options in bottom left hand corner, select clear privacy data, all and accept. The privacy data builds up and stores on C, which reduces memory and slows phone down.To see what systems are running get Best Taskman from Ovi Store, you can see all running processes and control them. And finally, I don't use nokia email, just set up my Hotmail account using standard settings when setting up email, and check it 3/4 times a day. Try this.
    Good Luck
PS if problem persists the hard reset is just about a cure all, but requires a bit of work ( use User Search, top of page ,if you need it LOADS of posts)

  • New Nokia Email slows phone down

I used to have Nokia Email beta which came with my E71 when I bought it in June 2009. It worked fine, but I had problems with my phone dropping calls suddenly, and O2 customer services told me to upgrade the software. Since then I have not been able to get a reliable email client for my gmail account. I downloaded http://store.ovi.com/content/22333 but this does not quite look like on the screenshots (but the one I used to have was like in the pics). Instead, this new thing integrated into my messaging menu, downloaded all my 5000 emails and clogged my phone up to the point that the messaging menu is slow beyond usability. I thought I was good at googling my problems, but I have failed to find anything. Ideally, I would like to go back to the version I used to have. The gmail mobile app doesn't get anywhere near the convenience of the old client. Please do point me to other threads or websites if this problem has been raised or described previously, and sorry if I missed it.

    Same problem from pc:
    https://email.nokia.com/account/home.action
then "signup" or "getstarted" link took me to :
    https://netac120.vie.hosting.nokia.com/account/selectDeviceEdit.action;jsessionid=3e2927ecc9a8e2a138...
After entering the phone number and phone type, and next button it went to:
    https://netac120.vie.hosting.nokia.com/account/selectDevice.action
    which is blank.
Could Nokia fix this web page?

  • Nokia 500 slow user interface

Hi. Please make an update for nokia 500. It is very slow and also hangs.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

hi mate, have you tried moving any media (photos, videos, music) to a memory card and checked via Nokia Suite on PC that you are up to date with the latest firmware for your device? also try re-installing the current firmware thru Nokia Suite, and failing the above, a hard reset may be in order.

  • Nokia X6 Slow

    Hello,
I got my Nokia 8GB X6 about 2-3 weeks ago. I don't have that much applications all what I have is (eBuddy,Kaspersky antivirus, Akinator, Coin Toss, Tunewiki and two games) and i ghave about 100 song but for an unknown reason the menus load very slowly and the same for the camera and all other things. Now is there anything I can do to make it faster?

It can if it's running. It can also affect the phones performance if those apps are badly written.
If they are installed on the phone memory and the phone memory is almost full or full, that could probably cause issues of various sorts.
If you are into it, you can remove all those apps and reboot the phone. If the phone behaves well now, it's probably one or more of the apps causing the issue. Then you can install them one by one and keep an eye on how the phone behaves after each install. However, you can remove the AV forever.
But has it been slow from the beginning or did this happen at some point?

GPS signal 100% ( even indoor)
Video shooting is really high definition.
    Images impressive
    Wooooooow This thing is fantastic.
    me happy happy happy 100%
Thank you for the tips in this thread.
It's interesting the disappointed user of n8 got his/her device changed and the new N8 works perfect. GPS signal 100% indoor. I have tested my C5-00 inside and outside it's pretty slow and hardly never receives any signal from satellites indoors. The navigation sub-forum could be a proper place for discussing about the different phone models  and the GPS.

In the attached thread the poster did not mention that he gets 100% GPS Signal Indoor with Integrated GPS. With only the Integrated GPS Positioning method enabled.. you must be in an area open to sky. The GPS Fix (Initial positioning) may take in excess of 30 minutes, depending on the Topography of the location and the weather. Area with tall building, trees and Rainy, Cloudy weather means a much longer wait. ..but once you get the Fix, there should not be any problem in Navigation..

  • Nokia 5800 Slower when playing music?

    Hi guys,
I'm sorry if someone already asked this question, but i have a problem with my phone when playing music.
The phone is slower , getting into menus is slower, and scrolling through lists is slow, and it's at least 50% slower compared to when music is not playing. If i press pause it's working OK then.
The firmware is v11.0.008 and i still cannot update to any version higher.
Is this the common problem or it's just my phone?
    Thanks, bye!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Your phone works much like a computer, and so it is possible that one constant activity like playing music may have an effect on other functions, though what you describe seems extreme.
It could be the case that you have quite a lot of files in phone memory that could be better transferred to memory card (images, music files, videos etc.) - if the phone memory is too full, this can affect the running of the phone just like when a Windows PC runs short of virtual memory.

  • Nokia 5233 slowing down

    Hi friends,
I've nokia 5233 taken before a month it was working fine,
but from last five days when I turn music player on then other applications are taking much time for starting.
I've done *#7780# but not worked, any other solutions?, my firmware is up to date.

Dronzer wrote:but from last five days when I turn music player on then other applications are taking much time for starting.
Try to check the free space on both phone and memory card.
File system errors on the memory card can also be a factor, so you might want to check it as well.
Methods to check your storage device for errors:
    Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265
    Windows Vista - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ph/windows-vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors
    Windows 7 - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2641432

  • Nokia 7020 slow browsing and messaging

I started using the browser a couple of nights ago and the phone seemed to be taking an extremely long time to open the websites (just tried two before giving up). Eventually the phone locked up and I had to remove the battery to restart it. Since then not only is the browsing still slow but it takes forever to open and send SMS. This is the second 7020 that I have had that has done the same thing but that phone started doing it almost straight out of the box - disappointed
I have tried restoring the factory settings after backing the phone up to the memory card. I reset the settings with the SIM and memory cards removed so as not to lose data.
    Is it a software glitch?

My data storage is still in the phone but i too get this slowing down issue. I use the SMS function more often, and i find that the messaging application feels slower. especially when a incomming sms is imminent. also after sending an sms the time it takes to start a new message also feels slower until the previous message is sent.
I find the previous communicator more efficient in processing multiple consecutive messages.
I also get memory full error messages and when this happens the phone really slows down
