Has Nokia forgot all about this handset or what? It really needs a new firmware update from V11.
I know V20 is available to some handsets, but not all.

  • Mac driver for Nokia CA-42 data cable

I bought the Nokia CA-42 data cable w/o realizing that it only supported PC operating systems. I want to sync my Nokia 6820 phone w/iSync 2.2, but I'am currently stalled. Has a driver for the Mac been created?
    help needed here!
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I bought a CA-42 cable for my Nokia 3220. I have Virtual PC v.6.1.0 and Windows XP Pro installed on my eMac. I have enough RAM to handle running VPC/WinXP and Mac OS X at the same time (768 MB). Can I use the cable to connect my phone to my Mac, but while running VPC and WinXP? The phone SHOULD think it's connected to a PC shouldn't it?
I want to use the Nokia PC Suite to manage my phone, but also to back it up, as I want to have it flashed, and need to save everything, first.
I haven't been successful, so far, and would like to know if using Windows on VPC can be done, what settings I need to adjust, or if you have to actually have a PC (which would be a real downer [G]). This would be so much simpler if Nokia would just come out with a Mac version of their suite.Thanks.

  • Nokia N81 8GB Synced with iTunes not refreshing mu...

My Nokia N81 8GB was synced with iTunes, I told it to refresh and it found 1500 tunes, it proceeded to crash and after a reset it won't find anything! It took 5 hours for the transfer so I don't really want to do it again, on the off-chance it will work.
    Any ideas? Thanks

Music files need to go into Music or My Music
otherwise they are not found by the music player.
If the files are in these locations and you still can't refresh the Music Library then you may have a corruption in the Music Library.
If this is the case then the best option would be to rename the folder called Private in the Mass memory to Private_old or whatever.
    Then try it again.
Also test that all the other applications are working.
In case something else breaks then you can restore the folder.

  • Nokia 8800 / 8801 Data Cable or Car Kit - Anyone H...

Does anyone know how or where to get any of these. I do recall that Nokia made a data cable for the 8800 but cannot find one.Instead I bought a cable from eBay which fits into the back of the handset but this does not work.
    Nokia E71 RM-346
    400.21.013

The 8801 is the same as the Nokia 8800.
However the 8801 is designed for the US market, because it has a different radio module in it.
It is Quad Band, but instead of working on GSM900 it operates on GSM850. Because there are no GSM850 Networks in the UK then that handset will only work on GSM 1800 or GSM 1900 Networks. GSM 1800 Networks are available in the UK those are T-Mobile and Orange - in dense areas of population you may get some Voda or O2 but not nationally. Vodafone and O2 use GSM 900 Networks and as such the 8801 will not pick them up.
As the handset is the same as the 8800 there is no data cable connection, and again the only way to connect it is by Bluetooth.
I'm guessing that you did not get the phone in the UK?
    Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black

  • N-Gage on Nokia N81-8gb.

    Hi,
I have got an original N81-8gb (RM-179) the one that came with a demo version of the n-gage application before its first release. (Or pre version 1 of the n-gage 2 if you see what I mean).  I have had no problems with it (or the device) until I came to update the n-gage client to the latest version.  Unfortunately the client fails to install (regardless of how I get the installer on the device) with an error about it being a"built-in component" which I suppose it was when i first had the device, but I was able to install the first full release version.
I'm running the latest firmware 21.0.10 (Or something like that, its reported as being up to date with the Software Updater) and Have tried uninstalled everything and even reset the phone to factory defaults all to no avail.  As a side note I also cannot even uninstall the n-gage application as it doesn't appear in the AppManager and pressing the 'c' key on the icon to delete also fails.
Does anyone have any ideas as the customer care email address is completely useless as they don't seem to bother reading your email and only tell you to...
    1) Install the latest firmware (I already am)
    2) Install the n-gage app (I can't thats the problem)
    3) Reflash your n95 (I don't own one)
    4) Goto 1.
I just hope that someone else has had this problem and can help. Thanks in advance.
    - Skavenger.

Do a hard reset, and then try again to install the n gage application into your phone.
Hard reset (the three key code/reset). Turn off the phone. Press and hold three keys together, the green/talk key, the * key and the number '3'.Then, turn on the phone and don't let the three keys before you see the nokia hands logo/nokia boot up screen.Warning! You will lose ALL your phone's data/files!

  • Nokia N81 8gb Screen goes crazy

ok so i buaght my Nokia N81 like in january last year and ive been using it quiet regularly....
Until today... I slid the phones slider to reveal the keys to write a text message, when the screen went crazy with funky colours and such lines and random things on the screen. If i slide it up and down while its like this it changes its effects and stuff as if its something to do with the contacts of the slider and the screen. If i let the screen black out into powersaver it returns normal but if i slide it again to close the phone or open it back up it goes nuts again.
i tried leaving the battery out but no use.
    LOTS OF HELP please ?
    i was thinking a factory reset ??

Hi! I have the same problem as well! And this is the SECOND time this is happening! The first time I took it back to my SP, and they then replaced it with a brand new handset; that was 10 months after using my phone for the first time. Now, 8 months after receiving my brand new handset, I have the same problem again!
What was very strange to me, before it first happened, was that my slider became REALLY tight and difficult to manouevre,  so I slid the screen up and down as it felt like there was something obstructing the slider, and out came a clear piece of sticky plastic film... I took no note of it, until the same thing happened to me about 2 weeks before my phone went wonky again. The funny thing is, my fiancé has the 2gb phone, and he seems to have no trouble at all with his handset, and he's now had his phone for more than a year (that's longer than I've had both of my handset before going crazy), so I'm thinking it must be a problem with the N81 8gb models. Now I need to take the phone back AGAIN, which I'm not very happy about... I don't want to have to take my phone back, or repair it, every 8 to 10 months... It's a waste of my time AND money.
Oh, and another thing... when they replaced my handset, I asked them what the problem was with my phone, and they said that they didn't know, but that they couldn't fix it! SERIOUSLY?! So now how exactly will I get to repair my phone if the Nokia technicians can't even find the problem NOR fix it?! I've basically spent ALL this money on a phone that only works for a few months until it's irrepairably broken... I don't think I'll be using another Nokia after this again...

  • Nokia N95 8GB data counter accuracy + T-Mobile (UK...

    Hi.
I have the 10GB per month web 'n' walk max package.
I use the Nokia N95 8GB as a modem for my computer as I do not have a land line.
I reset the Nokia's data counter (uploaded and downloaded totals) on the 1st of each month.
Since T-Mobile changed the service about 3 months ago I receive text warnings when I reach 80% of the fair use policy (i.e. 8GB) and a text if I hit 100% (i.e. 10GB). If I hit 10GB I am told that I will still be able to surf but not download at peak times.
There seems to be a big difference between what T-Mobile claim I have used and what the phone's counter shows. This month, for example, I have received the 80% warning but my phone only shows a total (up & down) of 6.3GB, 1.7GB difference.... quite large I feel! Last month I received a text telling me i had hit 100% but my phone only counted 8GB total.
When I contacted tech support they checked the system and came up with different figures. The 1st system which I believe is the same one customers can access by logging into t-mobile.co.uk and downloading the unbilled data usage figures gave about 8.7GB total. This system until very recently used to crash if you attempted to download the internet usage and had used a few gigs of data... useful. The support person then checked a second system which gave a total of 9GB. However these two different systems are not the ones that generate the warnings and also the cut-off (or rather reduced surfing restriction) texts. So T-Mobile have at least 3 systems.
So I have some obvious issues. T-Mobile have now stated that the data counter in the phone will not be that accurate and will miss some data, implying it is to do with counting compressed data rather than uncompressed. I disagree. The phone counter will surely count all 1s and 0s coming through it regardless of what they are. At this point I made the analogy to my electricity supply... the meter is in my house, that is the device by which I and my provider go by. They do not have a meter at the power station end. They bill me for what comes into my house at my front door and not what is sent out. That is the most accurate method for the customer.
I wonder what Nokia would say if T-Mobile inform customers that their hardware can not add up?
I believe there is a trading standards issue looming here as I do not believe I am getting what I pay for. At best appears to be 90% use. Whilst it is true they do not cut me off entirely if I exceed the 10GB, they are not letting me even reach that point. I seems similar to the current issues surrounding quoted broadband maximum speeds and actual obtainable speeds.
So has anyone had similar problems and disagreements about the fair use policy? Does anyone have any information / ideas about the Nokia data counter accuracy?
I am on the verge of contacting trading standards and any other suitable body about this.
    Many thanks.

    Thanks for replying.
If you are right, and as you say "I'm guessing", your butcher's analogy seems a good one. I know that the full data packet is not just the actual data but has the header attached (which I think can be up to 60 bytes?) but assumed that only the size of the contents would be counted not the wrapping. I wonder if this is what is actually going on. It would seem extremely unfair if it is especially as it can make a good gigaybte or more difference.
T-Mobile do not provide a reliable method to keep an eye on what is being used so what chance do I have? I still come back to my electricity supply analogy which I would say is similar to yours. My electricity supplier doesn't charge me for any electrical losses that occur between my front door and the power station (well not obviously anyway).
T-Mobile don't provide any software if you use the phone as a modem (unlike their web 'n' walk software if you use their USB dongle) and suggest you find software on the net to monitor your usage. However all the software I have tried seems to have limitations as to what type of data it can and can't monitor so is less than accurate and all have crashed at times and lost the running totals. The only accurate tool in my hands seems to be the phone itself.
Surely the customers shouldn't have to worry about transmission specifics, without those the net wouldn't work at all so how can they be charged for? Customers I guess would only want to pay for the actual data they are using. If I download a 1MB file I only want to pay for 1MB. Will the TV license people start charging extra for digital TV as the data is sent in packets?
    Hmmph!
    Thanks.

  • Nokia E63:no data cable.

I purchased nokia e63 on the first day of the launch. When i came home and opened the box i was disappointed, Nokia is selling a business class phone without a connectivity cable that's really unacceptable. I spent 1,200/- more on the cable. I purchased it from a nokia priority dealer but a got the cable without any box. How can i verify the cable i purchased is original? If Nokia give the cable in box then it will obviously be original and i wouldn't mind paying couple of thousands extra. It was really unacceptable. I am using a lot of nokia phones like Nokia N95 , Nokia N73 , Nokia 1650 but if i get this kind of disappointment from nokia then i have to go for some other brands.

i was to choose between e51 & e63...& e51 had a data cable included in the box while e63 didn't...thats what i came to know from the website...
after visiting the nokia priority shop...i got a confirmation to this...
then i visited another nokia shop, they said that red e63 has a data cable included blue one doesn't...thats coz blue one is more preferred by people...
i went to another shop to buy e63...they said that in new stock even blue ones have data cable included in the box...
unfortunately blue ones are out of stock...
i bought a red one, it came with a data cable...

  • Nokia N81(8GB) Alarm Problem

    Hi all,
I have recently updated my N81(8GB) to the latest firmware version i.e. V 21.0.008 and alongwith other minor issues I am facing a rather annoying problem. The problem is that when I set an alarm and turn off the mobile the Alarm sounds at that particular time but when I choose the option snooze it wont sound after the snooze period is over It'll only sound again when I Switch the mobile on. I just wanted to know whether this is happening with every other person who updated their N81 to this firmware version or is this glitch unique to me. Eagerly waiting for reply as the Alarm functionality is a commonly used feature and it should not go wrong.
    Regards,
    Umair

    Hi again!
I found a way to make my 6110 Navigator (S60 3rd) change the date on weekend also i use alarm on workday!!!

On the 6110 you can set more then one alarm...
I use one alarm on workday - wake me up at 6.45 in the morning on workay.
I programmed a second alarm for EVERY DAY (7 a week ) starting at 8.00 in the evening (cause this is a time the alarm doesnt disturb me).
Cause of the second alarm / since i set it - the date change works absolutely reliable.
