Nokia n86 a good phone??

ok, my phone got stolen recently so im looking to get a new one for christmas..i had the 5800 and loved it,but i wouldnt want to get another one on xmas day - it just wouldnt be the same lol. so, im looking into phones, the max ill spend is 350 -whats the besty phone i can get for that price?
i want a phone thats loud, like the 5800 and is generally easy to manage.
i dont want one that slides into a keyboard - too awkward!!
i was lookin at the Nokia N86, it says it has integrated speakers..is it a good phone?
please give me suggestions, i need a new good phone ..
thanks

The N86 is a tad bit smaller than N96 and the thickness of the N86 is tad smaller than N96 aswell but the N86 is a little bit heavy from N96.
Sound of the speakers arent really low like the 5310. N86 speakers are decent and has good quality sound but not loud as N96, N95, 5800. Lets just say N86 volume output is a tad bit quiter than 5800. 5800 speakers are louder than N86.
Either phone you wont regret N86 or 5800XM but id go for N86 due to the 8MP Camera, FM Transmitter, AMOLED screen which is really good. Battery life on N86 is awesome

  • Is the Nokia 6301 a good phone?

I've currently using a Blackberry Curve thru Sprint.
I need a second phone, & I'm thinking of getting on my gf's T-Mobile plan (unlimited everything for $50)
The 6301 is free If I get on her plan, so I'm wondering If it's worth getting?

It is quite a basic model. Since you are used to the Blackberry, I would suggest an N or E Series. The 6301 is quite a basic phone but if that is what it could be the one for you, especially since it is free.

  • Tom Tom on Nokia N86 8MP?

Hello all, Would appreciate some advice as to the best sat Nav software on the market? Having owned a Tom Tom Sat Nav I would prefer if there was compatible software for my Nokia N86 8MP mobile phone as Tom Tom are usually user friendly! Also would like to here from people that have used the following software and there experiences with it: Navmii Co Pilot N Drive Route 66 Garmin XT Mobile. Thanks in advance Khan

Thanks for the reply "jjegan" I did not realize there was a co pilot 8 due out for Nokia, must say looks the business. Any ideas mate when it is due for release? Heard good things about the Garmin Xt mobile but put off due to them no longer supporting this and last update to map i believe was in 2008! NDrive looks ok but again put off due to customer support in Portugal and no office in UK. Any ideas on the Navmii? They seem to be located in UK and reasonably priced at £29.99. If release date is not to far away for copilot 8, i think i will hold tight for this version but thanks for the input much appreciated. Khan

  • Is Nokia 2730 classic a good phone to buy

is Nokia 2730 classic a good phone to buy and does it have and defect or bluetooth problems
    phones i have 2730c - C1
KUDOS ME IF YOU FIND MY ANSWERS HELP FULL

The 2730 doesn't seem as 'advanced' as the X6, which I believe you were asking about the other day.  If you want to store music or lots of phots on your phone, the X6 wins hands down, having 32GB of storage, where the 2730 can only takre a 2GB card.  You can compare the specifications for the phone on your local Nokia website, if you haven't already done that.
Afraid I don't really know first hand about any problems with the 2730 Classic, though there are a few posts on this board which refer to such problems.  But, as others here so often caution, people come to this board because they have problems, and many of those problems are as a result of user mistakes, so any comments here need to be put in to perspective.  If the specs of the phone look like the sort of thing you want, it would be worth further research on other sites.

  • Nokia n86 issues?

I am planning to purchase a nokia n86. Does anyone have any reviews regarding this phone? good? bad??
Also, does this phone experience any dust on the screen after some time? I've heard from someone that the design of this phone prevents dust from going under the screen as there is no space between the screen itself and the glass front. Can anyone confirm this

    Hi Yeppi,
I've had my N86 for almost 3 weeks now (upgraded from an N95-1) and to be honest haven't found anything major to dislike about the phone.
The camera is excellent (although its hard to see what you're photographing in bright sunlight - this also affects the phone in day to day use) and you need to press the shoot button all the way in to get the picture, anything less and it autofocusses and that's all.
As far as the battery is concerned, its a world better than the N95-1, I charged it overnight and have played music over the FM Transmitter, had it browsing the web using WiFi and had the e-mail client running all day. I must admit that I've not made or received any calls but it runs for at least 2 days without draining fully.
I'd read that some people have had problems with the main keypad but I've found it no tougher to use than the N95.
The FM transmitter is superb, will be using it a lot on holiday to play music in the car rather than bringing a huge pile of CDs.
I'm using the onboard 8GB for maps and my old 8GB MicroSD card for music and photos
It comes pre-loaded with a load of the apps that I'd recently installed on the N95, such as the E-mail client, OVI Maps 3.0 (Don't get me started on the licence transfer grief that I've had with Nokia for the last 2 weeks) and the BBC iPlayer client.
Some people have commented on the phone locking up or rebooting but I'm tied to v10.086 until Orange authorise its release - So far I've only had one or two, many fewer than the N95-1 on original software.
Its a good deal heavier than the N95-1 and it remains to be seen if this is noticeable when I go running again as I wear it in a water-tight sports armband just in case the water filled ditches are as deep as they were 2 years ago when I drowned the N95-1. I'd thoroughly recommend the small arm holder by aquapac, it may be more expensive than the others but its the only one that guarantees to keep your phone 100 dry (and it floats)!
All in all, I'm pleased with the phone after upgrading. I've been waiting for a worthwhile replacement for my N95 since December 2008 when my last contract lapsed, I'm glad I held out for the N97 and then chose the N86 instead .

  • Power button and other functions on my Nokia N86 s...

After I downloaded a few applications for my Nokia N86, the slider preferences (i.e. the sound clips that play when opening/closing the slider; the answer/hang up call function; and the key lock) stopped working. Some apps refuse to open (no response). Also, when I push the power button on top of the phone, it does absolutely nothing, thus I cannot turn my phone off.
I am affraid to take the battery out and let the phone power down then up because the power button might not be able to turn it on.
This occurred after I downloaded a few apps off of cnet.com. Here is a list of my downloaded apps with the most recently downloaded ones listed first:
F-Secure (anti virus added and scanned after problem started - no viruses present)
    Handywi (wifi locator)
    fring (social networking bundle)
    DivX player
    Google app (m.google.com/app)
    Google maps
Opera Mini (web browser that now refuses to open)
HNN Soft Talking Dictionary (Chinese/English that now refuses to open)
    What should I do???
(Yes, I have the most current software update)
(Not sure if it matters, but I live and bought the phone in Taipei, Taiwan)

  • Nokia N86 power consumption

I have a Nokia N86 which is 2 years old.
I have been experiencing a problem with battery drainage since I bought it. The battery meter suddenly drops from 5 bars to one bar when I browse the net using HSDPA, after about 30mins or so, when the phone is already hot. I sent it into service once, because it happened very randomly and it did not look like a major issue. They said they recalibrated the battery. After a week of somehow uniform battery draining, the battery started going flat suddenly, again, from 5-6 bars to "low battery".
I went to a service center again to check if it's the battery or the phone. Nokia Energy Profiler says that the current is about 400-500mA when using HSDPA. The engineer at the service center connected a power supply with measurable current consumption, and during the usage of HSDPA, the current was at least 800mA, with almost 1000mA peaks. He said that these current intensities damage the battery in about a month and that he would not recommend changing the battery, but the HSDPA chip. The warranty period expired a month ago.
I am asking you guys:are these values normal? 800-1000mA during HSDPA usage for a Nokia N86? I need a serious, valid opinion from somebody who really knows mobile hardware. Thank you.

This has happened to me every now and then. First it seems as if the battery is almost full and then it's suddenly empty even without using the device much.
Sometimes the device feels warm. In those cases I just reboot it.
Obvious things to check would be that BlueTooth and WLAN are off if you don't need them.
Sometimes the switch of the kickstand has activated when I have carelessly thrown the phone on a bed for example. If you have defined it to start an application that could cause some power consumption.
I haven't tried to measure my power consumption. I guess there are two options:
    - the device actually consumes a lot of power sometimes
    - the battery indicator isn't always up-to-date i.e. it shows several bars when the battery is actually almost empty.
It's a shame because it's a pretty nice phone and I quite like it. Luckily it's quite a rare problem.
(But not that great if the battery dies during a bicycle trip just because I have SportsTracker running.)

  • Nokia n86 camera photos preview problem

hey, i have a problem with my nokia n86
when i go to Photos > Captured photos
and i "travel" by the months that the pictures were taken,
for some pictures, the preview image is completely different than the actual image!
for example, i browse the phone for some the pictures taken in september 2011. then, when i choose one and try to use it, or even if i enlarge the picture i chose, i find out that the preview is plain wrong!
this bug is for most of the pictures i took.
this is really annoying -  i can't find pics i took and use them. i must move them all to the computer
    also restart wont fix it.
and i tried to update the software but it is the latest.

    Hi MS23,
Welcome to the Nokia Forum and thank you for your post.
Please reinstall the phone's current software using Nokia Suite. Click on the green arrow, where the option to reinstall the current software will be displayed in blue.
This will clear up the bug that's causing the preview of the image to be incorrect.
Please get back to me to let me know if you manage to resolve your issue, otherwise I can provide further support.

Have you looked at the hubs log to see if it gives a reason for refusing the N86?
It's a while since I had the original hub so can't tell you exactly where to look.
You may also want to ask your question on forum below as it's more likely the hub that needs it's settings changed than the phone:

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have had an E52 for 5 months and have had no problems with it at all, so can't tell you of anything wrong with it. Maybe most other users are the same so that is why you are not getting any responses :-)?
At first the GPS was slow to get a fix but with later updates is now fine. Also early on with a Windows 7 64 bit computer had a few minor issues with Ovi but they have gone with the Ovi updates - the only phone<=>computer issue I have now is that Windows Explorer does not does not see the phone's expansion card over bluetooth. It works fine with USB cable though so not a real problem and I suspect the bluetooth issue is a Win 7 64 bit driver not existing (it works ok under Windows XP 32 bit). All other bluetooth e.g. internet, modem, etc works fine.
Messaging including predictive text, radio, navigation, email (POP with two accounts), data, modem, voice services including A2DP profile (for handsfree navigation, music, radio sound), etc, etc all work fine for me. The camera is not great but if one wants a good camera one should buy a camera. About the only thing I do not use the phone for is VOIP services so cannot comment there.
Build quality seems ok to me for the price of the phone. Some people complain about light bleed through on the keyboard in particular the bright LED between the Home and Off Hook keys but I actually thought that was a feature for use in low light as it gives a strong point of reference to the location of these two keys (as far as I remember my daughter's E72 is the same which would infer it is a feature).
Both my daughter and myself were replacing our phones at the same time and both tossed up between the E72 and the E52 - she got the E72 and I the E52. If one does a lot of SMS or emailing from the phone (or use the Office applications) then the E72 is probably the better fit else the E52 is fine. The E52 does have a bigger screen though.
Am not claiming it is the best phone in the world but I have no reason to be displeased with the choice. Judging from this forum some seem to have problems with them but I guess with the many thousands of phones out there, there are going to be some with issues - however, from the emotive rants from some of the complainers I suspect a goodly number of them have problems with much in their in lives, have finger trouble or don't understand what they are doing  (e.g. those complaining about the phone when it is their car's handsfree not supporting the A2DP profile, as many do not, that is their real problem) :-) . Like anything, I'd just suggest buying the phone off a supplier you trust to respond in the unlikely event of problems.

  • Nokia N86 and (Snow) Leopard

Does anyone here know if the Nokia N86 smartphone is compatible with the latest cats, Leopard and Snow Leopard?
I currently have an N73 and it interfaces just fine either via USB or Bluetooth and the Nokia Multimedia Transfer app (1.4). iSync, iPhoto, iTunes are able to speedily do their thing with the phone. Bluetooth connectivity started working again after the 10.5.8 update. However, that phone is getting dated and my carrier is currently offering very attractive hardware upgrade plans for the holiday season; since the main use I have for it (besides making calls and sending SMS's) is taking pictures, the N86 fabulous 8 megapixel camera with mechanical shutter and Zeiss lens is really attractive.
Nokia says the Multimedia Transfer app is not compatible, but it said the same thing about the N73, so I'd rather ask the Discussions Collective any experiences with this N86 phone. Yeah or nay?
Oh, and why am I blaspheming about a Nokia instead of following the One True Faith and getting an iPhone? Cause it is too bloody expensive over here with our carriers! Not only is it expensive to get, it is even more so to maintain!! Doubles or triples what I currently pay.

  • Standby clock N86 for other phones

Anyone has the standby clock file of the N86 (dot matrix clock) so can put in another nokia phone?

Oh well, still no update for my product code; I read somewhere that the new code doesn't fix this issue anyway.
The more I think about it the more I am suprised at Nokia lack of support in fixing this. I mean since I don't wear a watch I guess it's more important to me that most other people, but come on; I've got a device worh hundreds of pounds/euros/dollars but it doesn't tell the correct time - such a basic feature! Other companies must be laughing so hard; Nokia's flagship business phones doesn't even display the correct time - how embarrassing!

  • GPS tracker for nokia n86

Hi there I wonder if anyone can give me tips for a GPS tracker for my Nokia n86. I have searched the forum, but found only online gps trackers, and that is way to expensive for me to stay on my 3G line to track my routes. I only want to start a program, that log my routes and save my logs to for example a KML file, or similar. On my motorcycle i use TOMTOM gps with tripmaster log. Is there something like that to my Nokia also? (for hiking, and bicycling trips)

thanks, will try some of them out. I also just installed http://code.google.com/p/ttgpslogger/ Looks really good. But unsure if i can run this in offline mode, not using the assisted GPS. If anyone has some info about the TTgpslogger, please advice.

  • Software update for my Nokia N86, product code 05...

    hi,
i know this issue has been discussed a zillion tymes but still am unable to understand and i need a solution to this problem. After entering the product code from ma Nokia N86 it tells me that a version 30.009 is available for update. but wen i try updating using ovi suite or the software updater tool it gives me different errors every tyme including check the cable connection or no updates available. i am living in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Please guide me how can i update my software in this region?

    Phone  is made
Phone is designed for different markets and countries and phone operators all have different firmware      country specific local law specific and operator specific .
That results in a very large number of product codes for the same phone  .
Nokai make firmware pass it back to the operators or wait for it to clear  local laws .
Its then passed back to the Nokai server   so you wait until your product code has the update .
So if the firmware has been released for your product code you get it .
Or firmware xxx has been released for some N86 rest to follow .
Product code refers to the phone   .
In your case its a N86  RM -484  SSA Multi Indigo   latest software  /firmware    V30 .009
