Nokia N90 Ringtone Issue

Hi... I'm wondering if anyone can help me, I have a Nokia N90, and I have all my profiles set to play a certain ringtone for incoming calls, but every time an incoming call occurs, it just plays the Nokia Tune. If I set the same ringtone to a contact, when that person calls me then the ringtone will play. Apart from that, it always plays the Nokia tune, and it's annoying me. Can anybody help me with this?

You can change your log settings my going to Menu -> My Own -> Log -> Options -> Settings -> Log Duration
I did however come up with my own solution. This solution is simple. I made a group in the contacts and added all of the people on my list (except for ones with specially assigned ringtones) into the group. I assigned the tone i wanted to ring to the group and it has been working fine ever since.Message Edited by theinternet on 08-Nov-200704:01 AM

Nokia 6085 ringtone issue

hi all,
I've got a nokia 6085 and I tried getting some of my own ringtones on to it. however, although it can play the files, it won't use them as ringtones (error message "Not allowed by activation key" and "cannot be set as ringing tone"). I tried then to convert the files using the PC Suite. when I drag and drop the files and have it convert them (either to m4a or aac - any of the bit rates) it says "unable to convert the file [file name] to mobile optimized format."
does anyone have any ideas why this occurs? I tried uploading the files as aac, m4a and mp3, all at various bit rates. the phone can play them, but it won't let me use them as ring tones.

Nokia 6700 Ringtone issue. Ringtone stops after 3 ...

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help with a strange one.
The phone lights up for 25 seconds before going to answerphone if someone rings in. However whatever ringtone I use (except for the Nokia ringtone) it only rings three times and then stops? All Ringtones are original ones that came with the phone
Any ideas?

Try a 'Factory Reset' and see if that helps.. It will not erase any data... just the settings will revert to 'Out of Box' state.. but still recommend to take a Back-up before doing that as a precaution...

N97 Ringtone Issues

Bought an N97 last Friday on release day in the UK.
Have had a whole host of NSeries phones from the N70, N73, N95/6 etc..
I use separate ringtones assigned to a range of about 10 contact groups and assign them from Contacts > Groups > Options > Ring Tone. This then updates the ringtone for all the contacts in the group.
I also set default ringtones in all the Profiles that are not silent.
This was never a problem in previous Nseries phones but what I am finding is that at times I get the standard Nokia tune then next call will use the correct ringtone and after that it is the nokia tone again. I am also getting a drop out in the tone about 2 secs in for about a second then starts ringing again.
I initially put this down to the fact that my phone is connected to computer and the mass storage and memory card are locked down, so with this in mind I moved them to the phone memory, not ideal but thought give it ago and I converted them to all 3gp files as assigning through the group would not show anything but 3gp or AAC.
However the issue still exists and is getting really annoying. It is having no problem with ringtone selected for incoming mail, messages, calendar and alarm clock.
Anyone else experiencing this?????

Apologies for Hijacking your post but I don't really want to Start another "ringtone Issue" Post
Had a problem with my N97 last night whereby whenever my girlfriend called, the phone would ring with the default Nokia tone. All other calls rang with my personalised ringtone.
After playing around with the phone I found the reason was I had tagged her picture onto her contact details but used a full 5MP photo. After editing the picture and dropping it down to 640*480 the phone rang with the tone i'd set.
It looks like due to the image size the phone was taking a while to display the caller image and then play the tone as well
Thought it would be worth a mention incase anyone else comes across this problem

Can's send SMS with Nokia N90?!

I got my new Nokia N90, but there is no "Use with Address Book" option in the setup (just iSync and use internet connection). Can I not send SMSs using this phone?!

the Nokia N90 isn't on their compatibility list but it IS on Apple's, so I'd think Apple would support it

you can follow this instructions:
You can delete unused items saved in your Nokia device regularly to avoid memory getting low.
To delete contact information, calendar notes, call timers, call cost timers, game scores, or any other data, go to the respective application to remove the data. If you are deleting multiple items and one of the following notes are shown: Not enough memory to perform operation.
Delete some data first. or Memory low. Delete some data from phone memory., try deleting items one by one (starting from the smallest item).
To view what kind of data you have and how much memory the different data groups consume, press Menu, and select Tools > File manager > Options > Memory details.

Nokia N90 - PDF Reader?

Hi all,
I needed a PDF reader so I installed the Adobe Reader avaliable on the Nokia website. But the resolution is too low, so it's really annoying to read any pdf file on my N90.
And the thing is, I know my screen is capable of much more (I know that from browsing sites with Opera mobile). It's just that the native resolution of Adobe Reader for Symbian v2 is too low.
Is there any way to change it? Or alternatives to Adobe Reader (even non-free) to get my PDF files read properly?

Address Book bluetooth connection doesn't work with Nokia N90

I can't set up my Nokia N90 to work with the Address book for bluetooth dialing & sending SMS.

I found this info on the forum.
1. Check if the isync agent is installed on your phone. If not get go to your application folder/isync. control-click on the icon and choose "show package content". Navigate to /Contents/PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevices/Contents/Resources/Agents and drag a copy of AppleSyncAgent-s60v22.sis to your desktop.
2. Use the bluetooth "send file" option to send that file to your nokia. You will receive a message on the phone. Open that message and install the agent.
3. Remove your phone from the device list in isync and add it again.
4. Open address book and click bluetooth. It should connect straight away (no pairing request).
5. Now sending sms should be enabled.
6. Open isync and sync your device.

HS-20 on Nokia N90 ?

Will HS-20 work on Nokia N90? i wish, cause when i want to change a song i have to open phone, the HS-20 (AD-41) is the best way, but it is not on Accessories of N90
have somebody tried to use it on N90?
i don't believe to that info, cause for example it says that HS-23 doesn't work on N90 but it did. so maybe HS-20 works as well but it isn't written there?

Syncing Nokia N90 - Says not supported?

I have a nokia N90 and am trying to Sync but it says it is not supported by iSync yet it is on the list of compatible devices? really keen to Sync my calendar and contacts. Please help.

There is a little chip inside the phone that if it is faulty or damaged you get this message.
If it was sealed and brand new then i would put it down to a poorly manufactured handset.
The shop needs to take this back and replace it for you.

anybody ever figure out why the N97 keeps using the default nokia ringtone at random
its not always, but just randomly the phone will play either my assigned ringtone or the default ringtone,

Yeah I had a hard time with ringtones and this phone.
What I did was this:
Every ringtone files I labeled its genre as "ringtone" or something like that. So when I go to change my tones they're easy to find (as a folder). Once you do that it'll be easy to keep up with them from all the other files. I used to just put the ringtones in a folder, but that doesn't help with s60v5 on this N97 anyway I hope that helps ya.

N80 SMS and Ringtone issues.

Hi Everyone,
My phone takes too long to send SMS (2 - 3min), my gallery freezes when you revert back to it after editing a picture and the ringtones play when my phone rings, but seconds later it slows down like a broken record!
I have perform the *-3-Green reset, I have had the software updated and the issue is unresolved.
I dont think Nokia knows what to do now except for reloading the firmware. (Theey have reloaded it a total 9 times since I got the phone in July 2006)
Can anyone shine some light, apart from going to another brand?
My carrier is Vadofone AU.

N70 freezing and ringtone issues

Hey there hope someone can help me please. Ive rang orange customer services and spoke to them about my issues with the nokia n70. The phone brings up the nokia logo on a white screen and stays there for about a minute then goes away leaving the phone back to normal. Next i try to change my ringtone but it keeps defaulting back to the nokia tone. Orange customer services said these are known issues and i should get a software update for my phone via the nokia website. Ive tried looking for an update but cannnot find anything.
Please can someone tell me what i can do.

Sorry to hear you are having so many problems with your N70. Unfortunately Orange would be incorrect in advising you to visit the Nokia webpage for a software update, there is a patch available for this phone but this is only to help remedy a problem with ring tones not playing.
Your problem seems to be a bit bigger than this, Orange may be correct in advising you that you need a software update. To get this done you will need to visit a Nokia Service Point, if you follow this link: http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,8764,76918,00.html you will be able to find the nearest to you.
Right now it isnt possible to update your phones software from the Internet, it can only be done by one of the engineers .

Nokia E75 ringtone problems

I bought a Nokia E75 about 2 weeks ago. When i assign a rigntone to a contact, most of them work great. Only a few won't ring through. It rings about 2 words of the ringtone then the ringtone stops but the phone is still showing on the screen that the call is still coming in. This bites, as if it's in my purse I usually don't ever hear it. I have tried redoing the ringtone and using different ones, it still doesn't help, but more than half the contacts are okay. ANY HELP OR SUGGESTIONS WILL BE WELCOMED AND AM THANKFUL FOR YOUR TIME!!!

I too have somewhat of the same issue, except the ringtone assigned to the contact will not default when the phone rings.
The ring is the default within the profile everytime. I have turned the warnings to off. Thought maybe it was the the ringtone was a MP3 file, so I changed it to an AAC file, but to no avail.
Is there some other setting I did not change.
This is very frustrating...
Any suggestions?

Nokia Lumia 900 Issues and Questions

I bought my Nokia Lumia 900 last March and it's running pretty well. It's fast and reliable, although I have some issues regarding it.
1. When I'm in a conversation and I receive multiple text messages, I need to press the back button as many times as the number of messages I have received so I can go back to the menu. Not a big problem at all, but it can be quite annoying once you've already received a lot of messages and you try to go back to the messages screen.
2. I don't have the compass. When I try to download apps, it says my phone is missing some features that the app requires, which happens to be the compass. The phone's specification (on the Nokia website) says that the phone has a magnetometer, GSMArena and Wikipedia both say that the Lumia 900 has a compass.
3. It doesn't have Xbox Live. It's also included in the specifications that the Lumia 900 has Xbox Live, but when I go to Games, I only get Collection.
Issue number 1 isn't that much of a problem, but issues 2 and 3 are very disappointing. I tried searching for ways to fix these and I found an article saying that a reset will fix the compass and Xbox Live issue. I did that, and when I opened it, I saw Xbox Live on my Start Screen but when I activated my Wi-Fi, it changed to Games and still no Xbox Live there. The compass problem isn't fixed either. To those who experienced the same issues, can you please tell me how you fixed it? Thanks in advance.
Also, about the 7.8 update, I've been waiting for it for some time now and it's now available on my unit. Is it safe to install? I'm worried that if it fails it might make my phone useless. How long does it usually take?

1. Once you received multiple text messages, can you not open one message and then press the Start button to go back to the live tiles and select Messaging again to go to the next message?
2. The phone supports compass (magnetometer). Have you tried to use the On-Device Diagnostic Tools to calibrate the Magnetomer? You can open the dialer and then input ##634#. Select Magnetometer and then calibrate the phone. Make sure that the location of the phone is On under Settings!
3. The phone supports Xbox Live which you can access on the phone by selecting Games on the start screen or by going to the App List. However, Xbox Live is not available to all countries/regions. You can visit the link for the countries/regions supported: www.xbox.com/LIVE/countries.
It's safe and recommended to update the phone whenever there is a software update offered. This improves the perfomance of the phone so why not connect your phone to your computer, open the Zune and install the update?
