Nokia n91 problems

i am having so many problems with my nokia n91, it is unbelievable.
. i cant connect to wifi, i have found an open source, set, access points, cant connect. (spoke to numorous techs at nokia, they all say its all correct).
. music screen keeps freezing, unable to get access.
. cant play music through mp3 scroll at front of phone (changed equalizer settings) twice, each time cant use scroll after.
(as equalizer settings are in music, i cant access, as screen freezes)
. same as above with earphone control
(whats the point of having settings if they mess your phone up?
. sometimes phone cant find music, i have to play, each one individually, or press repeat all to play them, very annoying when you have to do it regular.
. standby screen freezes regular.
. i have one mp3 song, set for all contacts, some contacts have a different ring tone when they call, i have checked all my contacts and settings, they all show as using the same mp3.
. when my battery runs out, the screen saver disappears and the origanal screen comes back on phone, it is very annoying, having to keep changing my screen saver back.
is this phone dodgy or what.
i am going to visit my local nokia support centre next week, but if anyone can help me in the mean time, i would be very gratefull.

What programs have you installed?, are they installed in the phone memory or the HDD?
How much memory do you have free in the phone memory?
What applications do you have running when this happens?, Long press of the Menu key (right hand side key) will show the open applications scroll with the joystick to see them.
It's very easy to blame the device, but sometimes it's something we do that causes the device to miss behave. I've experienced some problems with some of the applications that have been poping out for S60 Rel 3.0. It got so bad I had to re-format everything.
Now the phone is working correctly again. I didn't install anything. Just added music, pictures and videos, and everything works fine.

  • Nokia N91 SIP Configuration (problem)

    Hi all,
As it ays in the subject, I own a nokia N91 handset and i'm having problems accessing SIP Settings.
Basically when I click on SIP Settings, and view SIP providers. I cannot delete, edit, or add any settings at all! When I do select (for example), options - delete - delete confirmation (yes) The SIP profile doesn't delete.
I have done a full factory reset on the phone (*#7370#), but still no luck

  • N91 problem

Hi, I have a problem with my nokia N91. Recently I have upgraded my phone's firmware to version 2.00.052 and from then i can't install signed .sis and .sisx files on my HDD. The problem is really bugging me, but I don't know how to fix it. Also when I try to install these files to phone's memory, though it installs, but the programs and games seem to crash on execution or in program/game menu. Is there any solution to this?

    Hi
PC suite can be a bit dodgy. Make sure you are only using it to backup your phone memory and not the HDD (see the HDD user guide that the User advice tips I posted points too). Use USB MS etc. ie) After a sw update you should re-install all your sis files from the beginning again etc
Also if its your contacts you care the most about (I know i do) Im not sure if you know you can back them up using the HDD. Go into contacts, select them all and mark the, Then copy them to the HDD. It puts them in a folder called "other". Then drag and drop to PC

  • Nokia N91 crashes with SOFTAWARE UPDATER!!PLS HELP...

    Hello,
I have this huge problem...I have a Nokia N91 ,for which I payed 500Euro and I just bought it for one week..I tried the The Nokia Software Updater and it all gone fine until the end ,when I got the message on the screen that the program lost the connection..and this is when the nightmare start...the phone crashed...now it only turning on and it staying on a white screen and it not doing nothing...not even turning OFF...I am very dissapointed about this,....I can`t belive that it is possible to releaase something that is ruining your phone...
Can anyone have a solution for this???The phone is brought from out my country and I can`t ship it to waranty!!!!Please help!!!!!
I just want my N91 back!!!

Hi, reading from some other threads in this forum, could it be the update failed due to the phone not having enough charge?
Try plugging it into the mains for an hour or to. Then try the soft format suggested above.
completely remove all Nokia software from your PC, download and install the latest Nokia Updater, download and install the latest PC Suite for the N91. Now connect your Nokia to the PC via the USB cable, leaving it plugged into the mains.
If that doesn't work that I have no idea and an engineer may be the only solution. Your phone is under warranty, but bear in mind this may have been voided by your attempting to update at home. Also, for such an expensive phone, I'd only trust genuine Nokia service centres with it.
Hope this helps - may have an idea you've not tried yet.

  • Nokia X3 Problem n need Solution

    Nokia X3 Problem n need Solution :
the problem is,my nokia X3 ringtone sound so slow/soft...
n the keypad button sound more strong then ringtone sound,n two of them at the full volume...
but,i already put the volume to higher posible ( full volume )..

Some devices may need to have their software reset in order to see the latest benefits, or to resolve other potential problems. - Ensure you have the latest version of Nokia PC Suite. - Backup your device memory to your PC using Nokia PC Suite - Copy your files (music, videos, documents, images etc) from the Nokia N91 hard drive to your PC (use of USB mass storage recommended). - Copy any original SISX, Java, etc. installation files for your applications, themes, etc. from your Nokia N91 hard drive or memory card to your PC. (Do not simply copy over the installed directories/files.) - If your device has an internal hard drive, format your Nokia device’s hard drive by selecting Tools > Hard drive > Options > Format hard drive > Quick format (instructions are also in user the guide). - After the device has completely started up again, reset your device memory by selecting Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > General > Orig. Phone Settings and entering 12345. - Restore your device memory from your PC using Nokia PC Suite by selecting Backup from the PC Suite menu and then selecting Restore. - Copy any hard drive or memory card contents from your memory card or PC back to your clean hard drive or memory card. - Re-install your applications/themes. • PLEASE HELP - RE NOKIA N91!!!

OK, I have a new Nokia N91...downloaded the software for the PC suite, connected the usb cable to the phone and put a (10 track) CD into my PC.
I transfer this (10 track CD) to 'my collection)...then 'select all' before transfering it to my mobile....ALL OK SO FAR....the 10 tracks are now on my mobile.
NEXT - repeat the same thing with a (8 track)cd but it SUPERSEEDS the first 8 tracks off the FIRST CD, leaving 10 tracks (8 new, 2 off the initial cd)...I realise this MUST be a simple error on my part (Im a technophobe!) but how do I add extra CDs to my phone??
Thanks in advance - it just keeps saying 'do I want to overwrite the current track 1/2/3 etc'...even whne I select no, its still superseeds.
Im left with a great mobile that I love but only one cd!!
PLEASE HELP BEFORE I TOP MYSELF WITH THIS STRESS!!!
    MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE

This is not the way it should work and I have not seen this type of problem before, so let's try t work this out.
    A few questions:
Have you used the "get artist data" in Nokia Music Manager (that is part of PC Suite, so I assume you are using that software to move your music to the phone?)
Have you selected the update music library in phone side after you have moved the music files to your phone ?

  • A Nokia N95 owner who just bought a Nokia N91 aswe...

    Hi guys
popped out last night and met a guy off of Ebay, he had a brand new unused Nokia N91 with Version 2 Firmware, he got it as a replacement handset from his 02 insurance and then 2 weeks later he got a Nokia N95
i gave him £110 for it and im pleased with it, stll had the label on the screen! Result!!
i couldnt stand the lack of volume and audio quality while playing MP3`s on my N95, i wll still use my N95 as my main phone but have put a pay as you go simcard in the N91 and will use as a spare mobile whenever i go on a long trip
why is the N91 just so much better at playing MP3`s?
its louder, better sound quality etc
i feel like i been duped getting the N95 when it should have been as good for playing Music
so far the N91 hasnt crashed or rebooted or any of the problems that i had with my previous ones that i sent back with HD problems
anyone else done the same as me?

N91 is better in the audio department.
    N91 has higher output power
N91 has better frequency response (from very low frequencies to very high)
N91 has better SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio, also because it has more output power)
N91 has better THD (Total Harmonic Distortion)
N91 has better response at very low frequencies (10-80 Hz range) thus is much better at outputing bass (not through the internal speaker but through the 3.5 mm connector)
    N91 has better playback time.
    N91 comes with 4GB or 8GB.
I have played with both the N91 and the N95, don't get me wrong, the N95 is not bad, but the N91 is better (WRT audio).
Of course the technical differences in the end mean nothing and unless you really want the best sounding device, then N95 may be good enough for you.
The N91 is not fragile, but it doesn't 'like' some of the third party apps. and that's when you start having probs.

  • Nokia N91 started freezing !!!!

    Hi everyone
had my Nokia N91 for a week, loving it !
but, last night was listening to different albums on it, and the music just intermittently just stops by itself, i had to repress play about 3 times as it happened on different tracks of different albums on it, ideas??
all my albums are MP3 format, at 320kbps
sometimes if i restart the phone, it doesnt do it, then again, sometimes it does!
    maybe format the hard drive?
    how do i do this?
if it keeps freezing, its going back to O2 !!!!
    THANKS

My N91 was delivered from O2 on 16-06-06. It does this also but only on the tracks(Audio) supplied with the phone. No problems with the mp3 tracks i`ve put on it myself. It also does it sometimes with the live8 videos. a message comes up saying unable to play the video or there are no videos on this device or something like that. Turn off then on again and it`s ok for a while, although i must say it`s been on all weekend and i`ve been non stop playing with it and it hasn`t frozen since. I did delete though the supplied tracks that were making it freeze at the same spot every time.

  • Nokia N91 - 02 Network, a replacement and more thi...

Had my Nokia N91 for 20 days now
    overall im very impressed
    music quality is Amazing
but it keeps freezing, and is very very slow..
and i have to keep rebooting it!
also, when you program the shortcut keys to do different things, they sometimes work and sometimes dont!
O2 Network are sending me a brand new one tomorrow morning...
hopefully it will be better, and maybe, just maybe, may come with the latest firmware..
if it doesnt, and comes with the **bleep**py 1.00 version, i am then going to drive from Oxford to Northampton to have the Firmware updated to Version 1.10
i phoned them today and they said they would do it within 1 hour.. excellent!
doesn anyone else know if this phone comes in a different colour? or do 02 just give out ones that are plain silver?
    anyone else having these issues?
why cant Nokia sort out all these problems, BEFORE releasing it on the General Public!

    Hi
Try resetting factory settings *#7370#, passcode 12345. It will set it back to what you get out of the box however it will erase your DRM activation keys for Live8! etc so back them up first by backing up the phone memory (not HDDD but phone ROM) in PC suite
This gets rid of the slow SMS issue (for a while at least)

  • Nokia N91 Volume Output - need opinions ASAP -

    Hi Everyone
i have owned the Sony Ericsson W810i for the last 2 weeks
i have now sent it back to 02 because im unhappy
the Audio quality is fantastic, but the volume output is NOT loud enough, does anyone know if the Nokia N91 is louder? and of equal or better Audio Quality?
my NEW N91 arrives on Monday, cant wait!
    thanks

Ok, I feel like I should share some knowledge.
Loudness: This effect increases the bass response at low output volumes (it compresses the freq) so that the bass is better defined even in low volume conditions. At full volume it actually creates distortion.
Stereo Widening: Provides a sense of space by changing the phase of the analog signals.
Equalizer: Is used to change the gain of different frequecies to accomodate different tastes.
I have Senheisser PXC250 Noise cancelling and the HD485 (these are just awesome but the cable is too long)
I also have the PX200 that came in the bundle. These are good but lack some of the bass that the original Nokia earbuds have.
Also, keep in mind that the source digital file can have defects or artifacts that can create problems, depending on the codec used, the bitrate and how good the codec implementation is (did you adjust the digital gain or pass it through some form of DSP processing). Just saying is MP3 at 192 kbps may not tell us anything about the quality of the audio file. And then there is the source audio. THere are CDs and CDs, even if it's the same album/artist, there are different mixes, re-masterings and what not that will yield different results.
I've seen some files that seem to not play as good in N91 as others but when I re-ecode them they sound great.

  • Nokia 820 problems

Just bought two Nokia 820s, one for my wife and one for myself. Awesome phones except for a couple of issues. First, the GPS and Nokia Here Maps. When I am at home the maps show me in the right spot but reports (showing the address) that I am 3 houses down the street. When I am at work, the phone shows my position correctly but reports that I am in the Elementary School across the street. Hmmmm. gMaps does not have this problem and seems to have more detailed maps about my city and roadways. So it is a Nokia software problem? I like the Here functionality better, but the accuracy and detail are missing compared to other map services so I have to keep more than one app on my phone, using precious space. Second, I would really like to be able to sync my phone calendar with my google calendar and tasks. Right now I have to use third party apps so I have more than one calendar app (I prefer to use the one on my phone with live tiles!!!!) and more than one task app, etc... and more than one travel app. Also it would be nice to separate the people I want in my phone book from the people I have on social accounts (I will NEVER be calling most of the people on my facebook account, but there are people I call on a regular basis and I hate scrolling through or having to search a gajillion people to find who or what business I am looking for) and still have them listed, just seperately.
Thanks for listening and I sincerely hope these issues can be addressed.
    chris

Were you running gMaps on the same phone? If so then that would suggest the innacuracy in probably in the mapping data. This being the case, you should report the error to the map data provider using the link below.
