Nokia N93 Focus and Focus button

Has anyone else got problems with there Nokia focus button and zoom in and out swivel thing.
I bought the phone 11/10/06 three days later took it to Nokia shop to have it upgraded with the new firmware as it was crashing and taking jerky video.
All ok, All taking video ok, then things started to go wrong, the unit restarts on its own, I can not use the swivel zoom in and out button its too hard to move, I take the pictures at night and well u might as well not use the flash for all the good it does. The focus button I depress on photo mode will flash green for ages and will not focus at all. The video looks like it is stuck on high zoom and will not do anything.
£499 I paid for this phone and for a phone thats a lot of cash to pay for just that A PHONE!!!
Im not saying that it should be the bees n eee of phones, but why for a new phone is it failing and even let out on the market with faults??
The place where I got it from is not even answering the phone or emails I am sending to get it sorted, even the Nokia Shop where I took it to get it f/w uploaded told me to send it back to where I got it from in the 1st place next time.
So Nokia, if your listening, help me out here?
So far since I got this phone.
Bad software version so new phone could not use as it suggested.
Bad after sales service from your Nokia center.
And now a camera phone which has turned into a hmmm Phone...
Happy? not...
All I can say is I hope your N95 is better and tested before you send it out to the public.

Well here we are, I took my phone to the shop, they told me after a week it went to germany for the phone to be diceted(spelt right? hmm) anyway, I went on holiday to aus for three weeks without a phone, thanks nokia!! came back, and just my phone was ready, I got a friend to pick it up as while I was away my dad died. Family could not reach me as no telephone. I check it out and use it, v 10.0.025 12-07-06 RM-55 N93 (52.01) Bluetooth can not turn up the volume while in a call. Pics grainy Batt power will not even last a night, I got to sleep with a fully charged phone and wake and its dead. Strange how the nokia shop said nokia have sent me a new phone. Choices choices, Local paper will def hear abotu hwo **bleep** your company is with support and pushing out faulty phones and def will be talking to consumerwatch, you will be hearing from me later, just **bleep**. And yes im angry. Not happy at all with the responces, example, please accept out appoligies, and can you take it to your nerest nokia shop for an upgrade or repair. Jeesh, I have had this phone since october and I have only had it with me for three weeks out of that lot, you nokia have had it, shall I just give you £500 and not have a phone as thats what it feels like. Its supposed to work, I dont buy a car without wheels do I? I buy a phone which should work. All other readers dont waste your time with this phone or nokia as the support if poor and well the phone is not worth it.. Oh also for your updater software, if ver 11 or ver 20 odd is out, why does the software say there is no new software for my phone? Another waste of harddisk space on my computer.

  • Nokia N93 Crashing and Poor Photos

Hi, I just got a new N93 on contract with O2 and my phone constantly crashes, reboots and freezes, I take it this is not normal for a highly praised phone?
The other thing is my nephew has a N80 and we decided to check out the picture quality for photos. We took pictures with the same settings on both phones but on the N93 the quality is so poor...
ie. Say you took a photo of an object in reasonable lighting and flash is used, while the picture taken from a N80 with flash set to auto or on, is perfect. But on the N93 with flash set to on or auto its totally disappointing the contrast is out, lighting is off etc...
Does this indicate that the phone I have is faulty?
Or does it just need a Firmware update?
If its the later can I preform the firmware update myself as I been waiting in line for this phone for about a month and I only had it now for 1 day and I am disappointed... Thanks for reading

    Hi,
Thank you for all the postings and comments etc... I got my N93 online O2 UK don't have them yet for sale or contract... I got it from www.mobileshop.com I was going to get from from www.onestopphoneshop.co.uk (they are part of the Carphone Warehouse Group) but they called me back to say they won't be getting it.
The phone its nice, but the crashing, freezing and rebooting is awful. Also if you take pictures in poor lighting the quality is so bad it looks like it was taken from a digi cam with less than a 1meg pix lens.
I have also a Ericsson W900i it has a 2meg pix camera taking pics it poor lightings it brilliant same goes for the N80 which my nephew has, but on the N93 the flash does not seem to kick in or when it does the pictures taken it like blair witch project videos poor and grainy and all this hype about a "Carl Zeiss" lens its just does not live up to the hype at all. And yes I have tried taking pics with the flash turned on instead of auto no difference.
Looks like Nokia you have to do more testing and these N93 "Carl Zeiis" lens hype its sounds more like a Gimmick instead...

  • Nokia N93 software update

    Hey,
I have Nokia N93 phone and I'm trying to update its software, I did it actually before but this time it was different, NSU downloaded latest firmware from internet the in install phase; the phone disconnected from PC for unknown reason; so my phone has no software now and the pc can't detect it anymore.
    What should I do??

First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode.
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
    Hard reset:
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
    3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
    4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&message.id=14152#M14152
If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.
Care points/service centres and repair info:
    UK • Europe • Asia-Pacific • USA •
Canada • Middle East and Africa
Elsewhere: Click here, select your country, go to the support section, then select repair.

  • Interesting Focus II: JComboBox, 2 JLists and 1 Button

    Hi All,
    Another Interesting Keyboard Focus Question:
    What we want to do?
Let's say we want to build a JComboBox whose popup contains 2 JLists and a button.
What we would probably want to do is:
    comboBox.setUI(new MyComboBoxUI());
    MyComboBoxUI will extend BasicComboBoxUI and
ovveride createPopup to return a BasicComboPopup subclass
which will add the other JList and JButton.
(One can argue that this is not a JComboBox anymore, but bare with me)
    Does it work?
This will work great with the Mouse, but with the Keyboard we face a problem:
After our popup is displayed, The JComboBox Still Has The Focus - Any UP or DOWN Events are really proccessed by the JComboBox which simulates JList navigation...
This is happening because the popup is not keyboard-focusable (and so do all of its components)
    Where' s the problem?
We want to be able to:
    1. Press TAB to navigate thru the 3 components
    2. Press UP and DOWN to navigate the two JLists
    3. Press Space to activate the JButton
    Possible solutions:
    1.
Don't subclass BasicComboPopup and write a ComboPopup which uses a Focusable JWindow.
Problem: The JComboBox will lose the focus when the popup opens
    2.
Simulate all the DOWN/UP/TAB/SPACE events to the popup
Problem: The components are not focusable, hence there is no indication
of who is the current focused component
(Might be solved by surrounding the 'focused' component with a border)
    Your thoughts?
If you haven't fell asleep by now, you are welcomed to share you ideas, Thanks
    Eyal Katz

Sorry, I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish. However one line did catch my eye.
This is happening because the popup is not keyboard-focusable The code in the popupPopup() method in the following post might help:

  • [RESOLVED] Double text label on focused button in the Eclipse

    Hi!
After update in addition to this I get one more thing: in the Eclipse (both in a CDT and in a PDT) labels on a focused button gets doubling now.
    It looks like this:
There is no such an artefacts in other java (and non-java) apps which I have.
    Any ideas?
Offtopic: may someone for whom English is native language to comment my grammar? :-)

It looks like I resolved this issue by myself.
I use qtcurve. And if I uncheck "Embolden text" in a "Default Button" in a qtcurve settings label doubling goes away... But this was detected in the Eclipse only.

  • Lumia 928 don't works focus button

    Hello.
I bought my 928 past June, and midrange button to put focus stopped work.
I mean, the picture is taken, but without focus. To take a good photo, I must touch phone screen.
The phone did not any blow. It's new yet.
Can someone give me a feedback?
    Thank you
    Diego

I think you ran into a quirky bug that hasn't been fixed yet. In your target MSOs, try setting a Cross Fade with a minimal delay, such as 0.125 seconds. Then it should work.

  • Nokia N93 and copying music from a Mac with Nokia ...

I recently just got a Nokia N93. I am able to use iSync with it thanks to a plug-in.
I have had some success using syncTunes v1.6 to copy music files over to the memory card when the phone is connected with the USB cable. But the playlists do not work.
I did download and install the Nokia Music Manager for the N70 (I believe).
Will the Music Manager work with an N93? I am actually seeing the music on the phone but the app says iTunes is not available.
I am using Mac Os 10.4.8, iTunes 7.01. I have installed v1.02 of the Nokia Music Manager.
Will there be a release for the N93 or should the current version work?

I have been happily using Sync Tunes the last few months.
Recently, I started playing around with making smart playlists in iTunes. What I wanted to do was create a random play list of tracks to copy on a daily basis to my phone.
I ran into all kind of fun with audio file formats. It turns out the many of my audio files are encoded as M4A and MP4. These will not play on the Nokia N93.
Fortunately, I found a web-site (http://smartplaylists.com/) explaining how to filter out these kind of audio tracks in the smart play list. The built in help in iTunes is very poor in this regard.
The following link is to explanation on how to select file types in smart play lists.
    http://smartplaylists.com/comments.php?id=729_0_1_0_C
Now I can create a playlist that is 950 M of audio tracks and I then use sync tunes to copy it across.

    Hi KelMan,
    Welcome to the Forum.
I would advise you to visit your local Nokia care to get the phone checked.  If it needs a repair, it could be done there.
    Pfrancoise.

  • Trackpad and trackpad button often unresponsive in Mavericks

This is an offshoot of discussion about a mouse right click not always working since upgrading to Mavericks.
I said using the trackpad and trackpad button on my MBP often doesn't effect the computer; I have to repeat those actions multiple times before anything happens.
Drew Reece offered some suggestions for my issues:
First, I came to Mavericks from Snow Leopard because I'd tried Lion and Mt. Lion but found my old laptop (early 2008 MBP v4.1) ran way, too slow.
Before going whole hog on Mavericks I read a lot, then installed it on an external drive (spinning, connected with FW800) and played with it for a few days.  I used Migration Assistant to make the move, which segregated software that was not compatible.  Mavericks was slow for a few days, but did gradually speed up.   However, that was when I first ran into the issue with the trackpad and button not registering with the computer's display.  I also ran into the problems with Mail not liking my 3 Gmail accounts but actually solved that using by booting in safe mode, thanks to another poster here.  Not sure why - I attributed it to Spotlight indexing the drive - everything about the computer was very slow and extremely funky while in safe mode; no way I would want to judge the OS based on performance during that boot.  It was awful.
I did update a lot of applications to Mavericks-ready versions while I was using 10.9 on that external drive.
When I felt comfortable, I wiped my NBP hard drive and did a clean install of Mavericks, followed by repeating the same software updates.  Then used Super Duper to just bring over User folders from that external drive.  Because SD restores the Spotlight state there was no "break-in" period so Mavericks ran reasonably fast right away.  I wasn't ready for iCloud deleting my Address Book data but, fortunately, I replaced everything from the external drive's Users/me/Library/Application Support/Address Book folder.
So, per Drew's suggestion, I ran EtreCheck:

I don't see anything that mentions software - good or bad.  And I don't see anything else that indicates a problem but maybe I just don't know how to read this report?
Sorry about the length of this but I wanted to addres all Drew's suggestions.  And I'm still seeing those intermittent trackpad/button issues.
    - thanks

I'll try to break down each of these sections & point out any bad signs below.
    Hopefully the color helps…

Red items are loaded at the system level
Blue items are loaded at the user level
The other stuff gets loaded into apps like Safari - they are internet plugins.
    Cleanup:
All the usual caveats apply, backup before you modify the system, delete the items (or move them to another disk or folder if you are worried about deleting the wrong thing) but ensure the originals are gone or updated.
Use the Finders "Go menu > Go to Folder…" to open the hidden ~/Library (your users library).
Reboot for the system changes to take effect.
    How to find updates:
The critical launchd jobs & kernel extensions use reverse domain notation e.g.
at.obdev.littlesnitchd.plist means look at http://obdev.at for 'LittleSnitch' updates
You want to try to update or remove all the system level items.
    Startup Items: Stored in /Library/StartupItems/
Startup Items have been discontinued by Apple since Mac OS 10.4. They are responsible for making changes at a system level. Remove them all or spend time ensuring ALL related software is up to date. You need a very good reason to have anything installed in here.
    Kernel Extensions: Stored in /Library/Extensions/
Kernel Extensions also load third party code, but they insert it into the 'core' of the OS. These can be safe, however you must ensure the related tools or apps are up to date, otherwise the system is basically built upon quicksand. Remove them all & see if the OS works better.
Your LittleSnitch is out of date for example, how about hardware monitor or Rogueamoeba's software?
    Launchd jobs: several types
    LaunchAgents          - Stored in /Library/LaunchAgents
    LaunchDaemons       - Stored in /Library/LaunchDaemons
User LaunchAgents   - Stored in ~/Library/LaunchAgents
These are all background jobs, they are not necessarily bad, but if they are loading old code it could be doing untold damage to the performance & stability of the entire OS. Focus on the System level jobs (the ones inside /Library - the system level) also remove ['failed'] jobs.
EtreCheck gives a status on launchd jobs…
    [loaded]                  - a running job
[not loaded]            - jobs that are set not to run, basically harmless, remove them unless you plan to use the associated software (if it is up to date)
[failed]                    - jobs in a crashed or unknown state, it could be forking processes or using all the system resources, remove these.
    User login items:
Applications and helpers that are managed inside 'Systems Preferences > Users and groups > Login Items tab'.
These are loaded at the 'User level', consider removing all of them whilst you troubleshoot.  When you decide to re-add them ensure the software is up to date.
    3rd Party Preference Panes: & Internet Plug-ins:
    /Library/PreferencePanes/ and ~/Library/PreferencePanes/
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/
Once again these items all must be up to date, or remove them from your system. If the prefpanes manage additional software use the uninstaller or see the developers site for uninstall instructions.
Read the list of Internet plug-ins carefully, there are often duplicate Flash player versions that won't help stability, it's just wasted space too.
Don't forget to also update Safari's extensions in it's preferences (if you have any).
Re-run EtreCheck after cleaning up to see if items have returned (some apps will reload the background jobs when re-opened, so either update or remove the software).
Hope that isn't too daunting, the OS should be better if there are less old items running at the system level.

  • Next and Previous Buttons, n00b edition

OK, I am trying to construct a "timeline" flash file, where
basically you click either a next or previous button to move
through different frames, and I think I know how to do everything
other than the next and previous buttons. Two questions:
Would this be easier as AS2.0 or AS3.0?
If I use AS3, would this code work, and is "my_mc" simply the
name of the layer with the navigable frames?
    next_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,buttonPressed);
    prev_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP,buttonPressedprev);
    function buttonPressed(event:MouseEvent){
    my_mc.nextFrame()
    function buttonPressedprev(event:MouseEvent){
    my_mc.prevFrame()
Sorry if this is confusing, I am such a n00b I don't even
know how to ask questions properly.

Sure, no worries. It's definitely dizzying at the beginning.

Google absolutely rocks, but I hear ya ... you have to be
    willing to
wade through numerous search results. Fortunately, the Help
    docs usually
get you directly to your answer -- and quickly, at that -- if
    you just know
how to navigate them. If you're using Flash CS3, the Help
    docs are local,
though optionally available online. If you're using Flash
    CS4, the docs are
online and open in a browser, in either case, what you're
    looking for
specifically is the ActionScript 2.0 Language Reference (if
    you're using
AS2) or the ActionScript 3.0 Language and Components
    reference (if you're
    using AS3).
    AS2:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS2LCR/Flash_10.0/help.html?content=Part2_AS2_LangRef_1.html
    AS3:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS3LCR/Flash_10.0/index.html
In the case of AS2, you'll click on the lefthand side. Open
    up
"ActionScript 2.0 Language Reference," then "ActionScript
    classes," and
you're in. In the case of AS3, you'll see the classes already
    listed on the
    lefthand side.
Now ... you've coded up your button, which means you
    consulted the
Button (AS2) or SimpleButton (AS3) class to see what was
    available to you.
(I'm speaking hypothetically, of course. When you've become
    more
comfortable with the docs, this will often describe your
    initial steps.)
You want to code up a button symbol, so that means you've
    looked up the
Events heading for the appropriate class to see what this
    object can react
to, such as a button click. You've found your event --
    onRelease or
MouseEvent.CLICK -- and have associated that event with a
    custom function.
Now, you're on to the next step. In this case, the object
    you're
looking for is no longer a button. It's a movie clip, because
    you want this
function to send the main timeline forward or backward.
    Again, your first
question is always: a) what object am I dealing with? Here,
    it's the
MovieClip class, so that's where you flip to. Your second
    question is: b)
what category am I looking for? If characteristics, look up
    Properties; if
something the object can do, look up Methods; if something
    the object can
react to, look up Events. In this case, you want to send the
    timeline
somewhere. That's something the timeline (that is, this
    particular movie
clip) can do. The things-an-object-can-do category is
    Methods, so that's
    where you flip to.
You'll see a decent selection in either language, including
    the common
gotoAndPlay(), gotoAndStop(), and so on. You'll also see
    nextFrame() and
prevFrame(). Bingo! (Note, both versions of the language rely
    on something
called inheritance, which behaves just like it sounds. Just
    as we humans
inherit traits from our predecessors, most classes inherit
    traits from other
classes up the family tree. In the AS3 docs, you'll see a
    "Show Inherited
Public Methdods [or Properties, or Events]" hyperlink. If you
    need more
detail, be sure to click that link. In the AS2 docs, the
    inherited items
are listed in a box beneath each heading. Any given class may
    or may not
    have inherited items.)
So you really don't have to wade too far. Think of what
    object you're
dealing with, then jump to the relevant category.
    > 2. How do I make the next and previous buttons the only
    > controls that will move to the next or previous frames?
    I
    > plugged in the code into a separate as_layer and when I
    > test the scene it just goes through the frames
    automatically.
Movie clips (including the main timeline) just animate
    naturally -- they
*want* to move -- so if you want a timeline to stop, you have
    to instruct it
to. Here again, you'll look up the MovieClip class and,
    because you want to
find out how to *do* something (how to stop this movie clip),
    you'll jump to
the Methods section. Sure enough, there's a MovieClip.stop()
    method.
In frame 1 of your main timeline, simply type stop(), and
    that'll do it.
The reason it works is because you're invoking a MovieClip
    method on a
MovieClip instance -- the main timeline. If you wanted to
    stop a movie clip
symbol, you'd have to give it an instance name, then invoke
    the method on
    that particular instance, like this:
    myMovieClip.stop();
... in which case, myMovieClip is the instance name, and this
    clip happens
to site in the same timeline as this code appears.
Alternatively, you could enter the timeline of that movie
    clip and
simply put stop() in its own first frame. That would do it
    too. In either
case, you've invoked a MovieClip method on a particular movie
    clip. All you
ever need is an object reference (implicit, because you're in
    that object's
scope) or an instance name (or a variable that, by some other
    mechanism,
refers to a particular object) and then you're set. With that
    reference in
hand, you simply name the reference, put a dot, then invoke
    the desired
    property, method, or event.
In the case where you simply invoke stop() on the main
    timeline, you
*could* reference the main timeline directly, like this:
    this.stop();
The "this" keyword is a special reference that refers to
    whatever scope
its in. Because your code appears inside a keyframe, its
    scope is the movie
clip in which that keyframe appears, therefore "this" -- in
    that context --
refers to that movie clip. But as I showed earlier, you can
    also simply
leave off the prefix object reference because Flash will know
    what you mean
(that is, which movie clip you mean).
Eventually, when you're more comfortable, you'll reference
    instances of
other kinds of objects, such as sounds, text formatting
    objects, and more.
In those cases, your object reference -- an instance name, or
    a variable --
will act the same way, but you'll only be able to invoke
    functionality from
    the relevant class.
If you have Sound instance, for example, you couldn't do
    this:
    mySound.gotoAndPlay(15);
... because sounds don't have timelines, and the Sound
    class's Methods
section doesn't feature a gotoAndPlay() method. And that
    totally makes
    sense, right?
    > If you have a beginner's guide to actionscripting,
    focused
    > on AS3, I will buy it today.
I'm happy to keep answering your questions here, but yes, I
    do have a
few books you might be interested in. If you're using Flash
    CS3, you might
consider Tom Green's and my Foundation Flash CS3 for
    Designers (friends of
    ED) (
    http://tinyurl.com/2k29mj),
and if you're using Flash CS4, you'll want
the current version of that book (
    http://tinyurl.com/5j55cv).
    Bear in mind,
these are "foundation" books, so they cover all of Flash, not
    just
ActionScript. Still, there's tons of ActionScript in either
    one
(exclusively AS3, by happenstance), and we've received
    positive feedback on
the ActionScript Basics chapter, in particular.
I also recently finished an AS2-to-AS3 migration book for
    O'Reilly
    http://tinyurl.com/2s28a5),
but that one may not be especially useful for
you, because it focuses more on developers who have a basic
    understanding of
AS2 but feel bewildered when it comes to AS3.
There's also my blog, (quip.net/blog), which has tons of AS2
    stuff, and
is slowly growing new AS3 content. One of my co-authors for
    the O'Reilly
book, Rich Shupe, co-authored an ActionScript 3.0 book
    specifically for
beginners, so take a look, read the reviews, and see if the
    publisher offers
sample chapters. They often do, and that's usually a good
    indicator -- to
me, anyway -- of how a particular author's style gels (or
    doesn't gel) with
    your particular learning style.

  • Use "next" and "previous" buttons in two scroll panes

Hello, I have a question about how to use next and previous buttons in two scroll panes. In fact, I plan to display two similar files (HTML) in two scroll panes seperately. the purpose is to find their differences, highlight these differences and finally traverse these differences one by one by using next and previous buttons.
To realize this function, how should I mark their differences so that next and prevous buttons can recognize their locations? does anyone have idea?
    Thank you very much.

Can "focus" resolve this problem? But how should I add focus to a line in one HTML files? Thank you.
