What happens ? Any error messages ?
What format is your music ?
No error what so ever.
Music manager immediatly shows:
Scanning: Finished
Found: 0 files
music is mp3 (organised by iTunes)
If I take any subset of that music, transfer it to my internal c: drive, and scan for it, music manager does find it.
Also, if I define the location of "My Collection" to point at my external drive, Music Manager does see the mp3 tracks.
(Yet I understand it is not recommended to do this ?)Message Edited by ody_noob on 27-Oct-2006

  • Why am i asked to scan for music

i just got my mac and it wont let me play my music in itunes. it only asks me to go to the store or scan for music. what the **** is that all about

If you only want the free apps, take a look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is  critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)

  • WHY WHEN I OPEN UP iTUNES DOES IT HAVE TO SCAN FOR MUSIC THEN I LOSE ALMOST EVERY **** SONG?!?!?!?!?!?

Why the **** is iTunes 11 so ****? I like every bit of how it looks good and new options, the thing i despise, cringe, shout and get angry about is WHY WHEN I OPEN UP iTUNES DOES IT HAVE TO SCAN FOR MUSIC THEN I LOSE ALMOST EVERY **** SONG?!?!?!?!?!? It is far to annoying to have to re-enter all my albums and music, pictures, names... etc. etc. why can't it be the usual open iTunes and listen to my playlists?

From the now playing screen, bring up the scrubber bar(tap the screen):
A small icon that looks like two circular arrows is on the left side below the scrubbing bar. Tap this icon once to repeat the album. The icon will turn blue when repeat is activated. Tap the icon again to repeat the current song. The icon will change to show the number 1 inside a blue circle. Touch the icon a third time to cancel any repeat. The icon will turn white when it's deactivated.

  • Nokia N93 and copying music from a Mac with Nokia ...

I recently just got a Nokia N93. I am able to use iSync with it thanks to a plug-in.
I have had some success using syncTunes v1.6 to copy music files over to the memory card when the phone is connected with the USB cable. But the playlists do not work.
I did download and install the Nokia Music Manager for the N70 (I believe).
Will the Music Manager work with an N93? I am actually seeing the music on the phone but the app says iTunes is not available.
I am using Mac Os 10.4.8, iTunes 7.01. I have installed v1.02 of the Nokia Music Manager.
Will there be a release for the N93 or should the current version work?

I have been happily using Sync Tunes the last few months.
Recently, I started playing around with making smart playlists in iTunes. What I wanted to do was create a random play list of tracks to copy on a daily basis to my phone.
I ran into all kind of fun with audio file formats. It turns out the many of my audio files are encoded as M4A and MP4. These will not play on the Nokia N93.
Fortunately, I found a web-site (http://smartplaylists.com/) explaining how to filter out these kind of audio tracks in the smart play list. The built in help in iTunes is very poor in this regard.
The following link is to explanation on how to select file types in smart play lists.
    http://smartplaylists.com/comments.php?id=729_0_1_0_C
Now I can create a playlist that is 950 M of audio tracks and I then use sync tunes to copy it across.

  • Nokia 130 Bluetooth for music or call?

Nokia  mentions only Bluetooth 3.0 with SLAM. No info if BT also supports call or music or other profile?.
I know this is a basic phone, however it would be good to know if has A2DP profile or support music/call via BT.

    Hello,
it was also a big question mark for me, I've bluetooth, but why I'm not able to pair my NOKIA bluetooth headsets!?
This is really a disappointment for me!
Because I need a phone for my work without camera but with dual sim and bluetooth for headsets or hands-free equipment. That would be a great business phone for me.
Okay, still one point, that I can't understand, why it is only one (!) number possible to safe, without address or/and mail- address in the adress book. Maybe it is because of S30 system...
My petition to Nokia/Microsoft is, please, please unlock the A2DP protocol for the Nokia 130.

  • How do i perform a scan for music

Woke up and itunes changed - musics gone - playlists gone and can't get it off my iPhone. Help?

You don't. There are no virus scanners because there are no viruses that can affect an unmodified iPad.
The iPad is not a virus prone Windows PC, so doesn't suffer the same daily problems that Windows does.

  • How do I program iTunes to only scan for mp3's. I do not want iTunes to pick up mpeg's or any other files on my Mac?

I am new to iTunes. When I downloaded and scanned the first time for media it picked up all my jpegs and mpegs, etc. Is there a way to program iTunes to only scan for music and leave the other files alone? I only want the music files to be scanned.

Not at this time. You may submit your polite feedback to Apple using this webpage: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html

  • Scanning for additional file extensions

    Hi
We have a requirement to scan and report back PCs which have database files on the local drives, and I am struggling to configure ZCM Inventory to scan for files with the mdb extension. I have checked the product documentation and do not seem to have missed anything
In the Device Inventory settings section on the Configuration page I have "collect software file information" ticked on all the inventory scan types.
In the "software files" section I have "Collect .exe files" ticked, and have placed mdb in the additional extensions field. I also have all three (system, ancillary, other) file catagories ticked.
The inventory reports back all the exe files it can see on the test system I am running the inventory against (and yes I do have some .mdb files on there), but does not report back any mdb files.
Is there something I am missing in order for this to work?
    Thanks
    Gary

  • MAX crashes when scanning for gpib instruments

MAX closes without comment when I attempt to scan for instruments with a tektronix TDS3014B scope attached. This problem does not occur with other instruments.

I've tried scanning for instruments with the TDS3014B being 1) the only instrument connected, 2) one of many instruments connected and 3) not being one of the instruments connected. The scan causes MAX to crash in cases 1 and 2 but succeeds in case 3. I tried scanning with the TDS3014B connected on different computers and MAX does not crash. I attached the ni reports for those computers. I do not have another TDS3014B available to try. When scanning case 2 some of the other intruments connected are the HP8920, Agilent E3632A and Agilent E8257C, but I don't think having other instruments connected matters since case 1 causes the crash also.

Notes on Transferring OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks…
Most MP3 capable devices should play OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks.
If you intend to transfer OverDrive MP3 Audiobooks to an Apple® device, note the following…
iTunes® v9.0.2 (or newer) is required.
The Apple device must be formatted for use with Microsoft® Windows®.
The iTunes setting 'Manually manage music…' must be enabled for the device before you can complete the transfer. Adjust this setting in iTunes as follows…
Connect the iPod® to your computer.
If it does not launch automatically, open iTunes v9.0.2 (or newer).
In iTunes, locate the device in the left vertical navigation panel (under heading 'DEVICES'), and click the device.
    The 'Summary' screen is displayed.
Place a checkmark next to 'Manually manage music…'.
    Click the 'Apply' button.
The iTunes 'Summary' screen refreshes, and the changes are saved.
    If desired, close iTunes.
Note that if an Apple device is connected to your computer, you can choose to simultaneously transfer a title to the iTunes Library and the Apple device. If you wish to only transfer a title to the iTunes Library, you must first disconnect the Apple device

Hello, thank you for your prompt answer. I did have an idea that Home sharing might be the answer but could not quite figure out how to do it. I have enabled home sharing in my iTunes account, put in username and password, clicked on creat etc. But the homs sharing icon doew not appear in the left side of iTunes. So I got stuck. Any further ideas?

I did not know my kids had set up an Itunes account for me with one user name and password.  then i got an i phone and set it up with a different email address and new password.  how can i get my accounts to merge so i can have all of my music on my iphone

Quote: "You cannot merge two or more Apple IDs into a single one. You can, however, use one Apple ID for iCloud services and another Apple ID for store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match). See “Using one Apple ID for iCloud and a different Apple ID for Store Purchases” above for details." See also Apple ID & iCloud FAQ: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4895?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
You can set up your iCloud account on your iOS device under: "Settings > iCloud" and a other account for store purchases under "Settings > iTunes & App Stores". Unfortunately merging accounts is not possible but you could transfer all of your music manually via iTunes from your Mac or PC.

  • Is it possible for me to transfer the purchases from my old itunes account to my new one? I would like to keep all of my music, movies, tv shows etc.

I just created a new Apple ID that is different from my old one. Is it possible for me to transfer the purchases from my old account to my new one? I would like to keep all of my music, movies, tv shows etc.

It doesn't matter what your AppleID is - you can just change the email address associated with it at http://appleid.apple.com/ as mentioned numerous times above.
Okay, my former Apple ID = my former email address and the latter is dead because I moved out of the geographic area.
If you just updated the email address associated with your AppleID you wouldn't have to sign in twice.
I guess Apple Inc is wrong because that is EXACTLY what they stated when I called yesterday afternoon.  SIGN IN TWICE when I activate Apple TV and want to watch/listen to my legitimate purchases when my iMac is OFF.
Your only problem is the fact you didn't safely store the password to your account and subsequently forgot it.
Wrong ... my only PROBLEM, SIR, is that my bride, my wife of over 51 years died in my arms at 4:16 AM on December 27, 2012.  As a direct result, I decided to get the **** out of the city where my Nancy and I lived for **** near 20 years.
On the outside chance it is of interest to you, she is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, Section 66, based on my faithful military service during 1961 -> 1981 ... including Vietnam during 1967.
    http://lovesongforever.com
Part of this PROBLEM, SIR, is that Apple Inc refuses to merge my old purchases with my new one.
    SHAME ON YOU!!!

  • HT4914 I purchased iMatch because my old computer was failing and I was afraid of losing my music library. Now I bought a new laptop; what is the best way for me to transfer my library to my new laptop? Will iMatch help me do this?

I purchased iMatch because my old computer was failing and I was afraid of losing my music library. Now I bought a new laptop; what is the best way for me to transfer my library to my new laptop? Will iMatch help me do this?

    Is/was failing or has failed?
If the old computer still runs one of these methods may be best.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
I don't have personal experience with iTunes Match, but in principle you should be able to download all the tracks currently registered to your iTunes Match account. This isn't quite the same as restoring your previous library exactly as it was. There is always the potential for iTunes match to provide the wrong version of a song and could be content such as movies, podcasts, audiobooks etc. that would have been excluded.
