We have a similar setup at my university in the UK, and by extension many of the sites in the EDUROAM network. The local staff have been working hard at this for a couple of years, but as far as we can tell, Nokia's implimentation just will not work in this scenario under any circumstances. You're going to have to wait until Nokia properly supports this kind of authentication. Our own techs are going to start annoying Nokia about it as soon as they finish this year's wave of wi-fi installations.
Help I'm trapped in a sig factory.

  • N8 - It can't connect on EAP-PEAP network! Help!

I went to IT department of my University hoping they could give me the right certificate and the right configurations, they did so, then I installed that but I still can't connect! I have searched around the other topics, and the solution was basically on getting the right certificate and changing some configs. Any suggestions?
    Here are my configs:
    Wi-Fi Security Mode: 802.1x
    WPA/WPA2: EAP
EAP Plugin settings: Just EAP-PEAP enabled, others are disabled.
    Personal Certificate: Not Defined
    Authority Certificate: Unoesc (http://www.unoesc.edu.br/funoesc.crt)
    Username in use: 164334
    Real in Use: User Defined
    Realm: unoesc
    TLS privacy: off
    Allow PEAPv0: Yes
    Allow PEAPv1: No
    Allow PEAPv2: No

I forgot to mention that only EAP-MSCHAPv2 is enabled, with my username that is "164334" and my password.

  • E6 EAP-PEAP MSCHAPv2 authority certificate

I am unable to connect to our company WLAN. I tried various username/domain/realm combinations for the EAP-PEAP MSCHAPv2 settings but it keeps giving message authentication failed. Our ocmpany does not have authority certificate and hence I select "not defined". I was told by our network admin that Nokia phones have this problem that they cannot connect without authority certificate.
Is there any work around? I tried excporting an interim certificate of our company from my laptop but to no avail. Pls help.

If there is actual workaround to get EAP-PEAP MSCHAPv2 to use with WLAN to use Eduroam, that would help me and many other people.
Maybe Nokia has not build it to Nokia E6 phones.
But if there would be an update for Belle OS to use this security authentication with WLAN that would help as well.
    greetings

  • 802.1x EAP PEAP MSCHAPv2 on Windows 7 Client.

I have problems autenticate a w7 client at our Enterprice WiFi network. XP, Apple clients and all SmartPhones works fine...  We use Radius assigned Vlans based on username and ream routed on our Meru Network to Navis radius as centralied point of
autentication. Navis proxes client autenticatinon recuest to the customers Radiuses based on the realm.
Windows 7 32 client use the radius CA (installed and ticked) and EAP PEAP MSCHAPv2 in the SSID settings. The customer radius is an Freeradius. In autentication logs we se that the client sends the Maschinename, eg. Machine-x200/username@realm
even we in the client settings, under SSID Propirties, Security, MS Protected EAP(PEAP), Settings and EAP-MSCAPv2 Configuration, have removed tick on the default setting:
Use Autom. Windows-username... AND under Security Advanced (back one step), in the 802.1X Settings, choose User autentication only! (not user and maschine, mascine only or guest) and we have saved corectly username@reame =(username here) and password...
    in the username password Setting.
Is it possible edit or change the way the client PC is sett up to prevent this?
Is there any way make a policy setting? or is there other solutions?
I have teste te Cisco: PEAP option too, but stil noe autenticatoin from Radius

  • N95 8GB won't connect to EAP-TLS secured WLAN

    Hi all,
Has anyone succeeded in connecting to EAP-TLS secured wifi network? I have an N95 8GB with the latest firmware (updated yesterday) that cannot connect to my office wlan.
I’ve been reading this forum (and others google found) and here’s what I’ve done:
    * defined an access point with 802.1x security mode and EAP-TLS
    * exported the certificate from my IE, imported it into the phone and selected it in the Personal Certificate filed
    * selected the accompanying rootCA certificate as Authority Certificate (tried leaving it blank as well)
    * tried different Ciphers just in case
Every connection attempt results in "EAP-TLS authentication failed" and I’m never asked for password.
I’ve been talking to our admin (I’m afraid he’ll start to hate me before too long ) and found out that after the firmware upgrade and a couple of hours of trying this-or-that I’ve managed to have proper username sent to the server. But the message remains.
Here’s a part of the event log forwarded to me by the admin (fully qualified username is stripped by him but it seems to be correct):
    Event Type: Warning
    Event Source: IAS
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 2
    Client-Friendly-Name = wifi2
    NAS-Port-Type = Wireless - IEEE 802.11
    NAS-Port = 46
Proxy-Policy-Name = Use Windows authentication for all users
    Authentication-Provider = Windows
    Authentication-Server =
    Policy-Name = wifi
    Authentication-Type = EAP
    EAP-Type =
    Reason-Code = 22
Reason = The client could not be authenticated because the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) Type cannot be processed by the server
As far as I can see my nokia cannot use a proper EAP-Type. Does anyone have a clue on what to do?
    George
P.S. I believe we are using Radius server and a google search for the stated Reason gives a number of Radius-related results, but they describe cases when PC's cannot connect. I can connect to the wlan with my laptop with no prob (but it asks for credentials each time - don't know if it matters).

    Hi
Even I am facing the same problem.
However Opera 8.65 is working fine with the said configuration

    Nokia N95 (83.01)

This is a very common problem it seems, from Googling around for different help solutions. In fact, I'm here because of the same issue. WHich is why I find it slightly annoying that no one from Nokia can be bothered to post a definative solution in an FAQ or something, or maybe just post here to point people in the right direction.
Despite all the attention being garnered by Android and Apple, Nokia is STILL the worlds largest manufacturer of mobile phones, and N95 8GB/N96/N97 users are probably still your loyal base of 'power' users. I for one have a smartphone because my contract was due for renewal, but still use the normally trusty N95/8 (now looking a little weatherbeaten!). Now, if you're going to convince us to try the N8 on our next contracts, it would be nice to see a few more updates and responses to ovi problems. Can we still 'downgrade' to PC suite? Perhaps I'll go and have a look.

  • Nokia 2730classic app can't connect to internet

Hi, I'm trying to use the E-mail application of my phone (Nokia 2730 classic) but when I try to connect it says "Comunication Error", I've tried with the Opera mini browser and the native web browser and definitely there is a internet connection available, but when I try with other apps (with the appropiate permissions) there's errors everywhere, "can't connect" "Comunication Error" etc etc etc, does anybody know something about it ? thanks for reading

All existing ephemeris GPS data would be lost by software re-installation so as farby points out initial positional fix may take up to 30 minutes.
Also check to see whether device has Ovi Maps v3.01 now installed as not part of firmware:

  • Wireless WPA2-Enterprise + 802.1x (EAP-PEAP/MSCHAPv2) config

    Hello,
We're in the process of moving all of our wireless from WPA-PSK to WPA2-Enterprise with 802.1x EAP-MSCHAPv2 (PEAP). All workstations are Windows 7 with the 2SP3 IR2 client. What we'd like is for the 802.1x SSO functionality to work so users do not have to sign in computer only first and then use the novell login after connecting. I've followed the documentation for enabling 802.1x that Novell provides with no success. I'm hoping someone has done this or can point me in the direction of documentation that can use to better understand what configuration is needed to make this work.

I'm not sure why FreeRadius would make any difference vs ClearPass.. they both speak RADIUS.
This is the only documentation I can find from Novell: https://www.novell.com/documentation...a/b8jn9w6.html
It's a couple of years since I did this so my memory is a bit vague... :(
Did you install the peap plugin on the workstation, if I remeber correctly this was needed?

  • Can I connect my Nokia 6630 to my Mac OS X 10.3.9?

    Hi,
I have done a search but unfortunately can't find the answer to my query.
I have just bought a Nokia 6630. Can I connect it via USB to my Mac with OS X 10.3.9, and if so, where can I find the software?
Many thanks in advance for your help

    Hi emma_p
I am not sure that there ever has been an adapted plug-in for 6630 to work with Panther unfortunately, as I think it was first listed in iSync v2.0 in Tiger.

    dear all
many thanks for this site ,i want to ask can i connect to inernet via satellite although i have nokia N95 8GB
CAN I DO IT OR NO?
    PLZ ,ANSWER ME

No, that is impossible on any normal phone from any of the major manufacturers.
The only information that your phone is capable of getting from satellites is GPS data for positioning and navigation.

When I connect it to my PC,the PC displays the message "Nokia 3500c connected via USB".
    The grey icon becomes blue/green.
When I click on "Backup",Nokia Content Copier loads. When I click on "Back up the desired phone contents to a backup file which is saved on the PC", I get the message "Failed to open connection to the selected phone.Reconnect your phone and try again."
