Nokia N95 and Phone Autolock

Just a simple question, when I set the "Phone Autolock Period" to anything different from "0" my phone locks after this period, but the Phone request the device unlock code when it is started, is there any option to keep requesting the code at start up but not once the phone is on? (yes I know that using Advanced Device Lock or other programs it can be done, but with the security module of the phone?)
Regards

Don't think so.
If what you're just after some kind of locking on start up, maybe you could have it to ask for the SIM lock code on start up (PIN cod request = on) and to stop people simply changing the SIM, the lock code on SIM change (Lock if SIM changed).

  • Nokia N95 8GB phone Screen not working

    Hi Friends,
I have a Nokia N95 8GB phone, it was dropped while catching a bus, from then the screen is not working, but the phone works fine.
Pls do help me to get back the screen, any suggestions and guidelines are welcome, I am new to forum, I will be glad to hear from you and sort out the problem.
Have a nice day and a very good Easter.

  • Nokia N95 and OS X 10.3.9

I'm currently running 10.3.9 and consequently iSync 1.5
I have just got myself a new Nokia N95 and did a bit of searching for a phone that would sync with a Mac, the N95 had support from Nokia - all good. However, I'm an idiot and didn't check which version of OSX you needed to use the Nokia plugin. It needs iSync v2 and consequently I can't even get my computer to recognise the existence of my phone in any form let alone sync.
I'd really like to be able to sync the phonebook and more importantly calender, and also to use the USB cable to import photos from the phone to computer and to put files from the computer onto the phone. I was hoping that the laptop would at least see the memory card as an external devise and be able to transfer on and off it but apparently not.
Is there any software out there that can get an iBook running 10.3.9 to sync with an N95 at all? I wouldn't even mind paying a small amout for the new version of iSync but it looks like you have to spend $129 to upgrade to Tiger which I really don't want to do when Leopard will be coming out soon and I'm considering an upgrade or new machine then.
    Help? Please?

Until you either obtain Mac OS X 10.4.9 at a minimum, or Mac OS X 10.5 when it ships soon, you are stuck.
A Nokia N95 is not natively supported by iSync, and requires a plugin which itself requires iSync 2.4 Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later. The architecture in prior versions of iSync 2 and Mac OS X 10.4 through 10.4.8 is inadequate to support current plugins, and does not exist at all in iSync 1.5 and Mac OS X releases 10.0 through 10.3.9. There is no workaround to this situation.
You can access the memory card and transfer media files bidirectionally using Nokia Multimedia Transfer beta release 1.1, but it too requires Max OS X 10.4.9, iTunes 7 and iPhoto 6 or later releases of both the OS and these applications.

  • Nokia n95 and n96 made in finland, korea or china?

Hey all, I want to buy a nokia n95 8gb or a n96 with wifi and gps, im looking in ebay but im scared since there are a lot of fakers... some phones says they are authentic but they are made in china and/or korea. I want to know where are the phones made so I can get a legit one, not a clone?

check these two threads out and read through them carefully, the correct statement is marked with green/solution. hope this helps your quest. it does not matter where a genuine Nokia phone is made, it is still very much genuine, there are several factories in the world that make them hence, the difference in where they are actually made. it's a read worth taking

  • Now June 2010, nokia n95 and the "free navigation"

since the release of ovi 3.03, im sure many nokia n95 owners have been patiently awaiting free navigation, especially as it has been heavily advertised that smartphones will have free navigation forever.
now june 2010, there has been no new press coverage regarding nokia's stance for the n95 model since its exclusion from the list of supported phones. can we expect to receive no support at all in the future and give up hope? is it nokia's intent to dismiss these loyal customers and expect them to purchase phones which are supported? where do n95 customers stand with regards to free navigation now?

Correction. It was advertised that smartphones in the list of supported phones will get free navigation.
I own an N95 myself and would like very much to get free navigation for it. However the reality is free navigation was not on offer when I bought the phone and I bought it knowing that I had to pay for navigation. When free navigation was announced for selected current model phones, I was aware that the N95 was not on it. I don't know if the reasons for the exclusion are technical or commercial but it has been pretty much confirmed that no other FP1 phones will not be getting it.
However, as a very nice gesture, Nokia did significantly reduce the license charges for navigation which are now only around €10 per year or €2 a month for a whole region such as the whole of europe, which I think is very reasonable.

  • Nokia N95 and Maps Software

Hi, Just recently I bought licence to Maps from Nokia for one month just to check how it works. The day I bought this I could not open Maps software for a single time. Because whenever I click on maps, its load 90% then it hang. I tried again and again nothing it does not open, I restart the mobile, nothing happen. Can you please inform me what can I do? Thanking you.

    @countryjet123
Would need to know whether you are using Nokia Maps v2.0 or Ovi Maps v3 from here:http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-n95/
Map data is different between these versions and most common cause of application crashing is corrupt or incorrect data.
You may need to delete E:\cities + .qf file, re-open Maps application to re-initialise application and re-define necessary folder structure for Ovi Suite > Maps to re-download regional mapping.

    HI,
i updates my firmware like 2 weeks ago to new version 20....,
but when i used to restore back up files , i restored some apps which didnt work any more so i tried to reinstall the firmware again to be fresh.
it ask me at end to remove the battery and reconnect again and turn on the phone !!!
now just i have the white screen with the text in middile NOKIA and pc and pc suite cant recognize or find my devise and phone still is there at first scree when u turn on the device!!!!
what shall i do???? please help me out
    cheers

    Hi oktan
Unfortunately things are not looking promising and a visit to a Nokia Care Point now looks necessary. It might however just be worth removing battery and SIM for at least 10 minutes before replacing and checking whether Nokia Software Updater can find your phone.

  • Nokia N95 and Panther

    Can I sync a N95 8gb with 10.3.9 ?

No. Mac OS X 10.3.9 was released years before the Nokia N95.
iSync 1.5 does not have the Plugin architecture to allow additional phones to be added.
You need to be using iSync 2.4 or later with Mac OS X 10.4.9 or later, plus an N95 iSync Plugin from Nokia:

  • Nokia N95 and HBH-DS970 BT headset not working

    Hi,
I read on the web and reviews about DS970 working with N95 but for me it pairs fine but when it gets to the connect part it fails.
I have the latest firmware version v 10.0.018 (i think).
So far i'm impressed by the phone but i REALLY hoped to use my headset with the phone so a bit disappointed right now.
    Any ideas?
    BR /Reza

    I found the solution.
I went to the SonyEricsson shop (100 meter from where i work ) and asked them if there were any update for the headset and they said there was so once it was updated it worked like a charm on first try. It does not show the file tag or name as with my W950i but works anyhow and thats whats important...
    REALLY HAPPY now.
I was considering to buy a Nokia headset but i really like my DS970 so now i can continue using it

  • Nokia N95 and Route 66

    Hi Guys!
Does anyone know if N95 is compartable with Route 66?
I currently use Route 66 on my 3230 and it works Great! It is even beter (to my taste anyway) then Tom Tom 910. I want to upgrade to Nokia 95 but find (by reading reviews) its sat nav beeng not that straight forward and also costly.
...my current network O2 told me that N95 is not compartable with Route66 ???
    Many Thanks,
    Kate

nokia was very clever when they released the N95...
To enable other companies to use the built in GPS chip nokia would need to release the SDK's needed to implement the programs to use the chip... but they only released it to these companies days after the general release of the handset!
The reason??? Well think. Nokia by th company who supply the map software... are then slow to release the needed SDK's to the rival companies meaning most ppl just by a year or so's subscription to Nokia's own software, thus making Nokia even more money from every phone sold!
They arent the biggest mobile phone company for no reason!
    V.clever Nokia!

To answer your question, I can access my email outside of the office via Outlook Web Access, however, I would like my emails to sync with my phone so i dont need to use my web browser to access smy email.
    Does this make sense?
Your best bet would be to use Mail For Exchange, it will synchronise all your e-mails and even calebdar/contacts tasks etc if you want. Simpy download the application from http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com install it and then programme your settings into it. Your mail server will be the URL that you use when accessing outlook from your internet browser i.e. Outlook web access address then simply proramme your username, password and domain in and personalise all other settings and you should be A for away!
Hope this helps, PM me if you need any other assistance.

I've once read this kinda prob in other thread, but the different is the handset, its N82, instead yours, N95.
    Try this: rename/remove wdf01000.sys from windows\system32\drivers\
Next time you plug your phone, the USB Phone Parent driver will be automatically installed (or upgrade drivers from Device Manager in Control Panel > System > Hardware. If not, try to uninstall all nokia apps (pc suite, etc), rename the file above, then install the nokia apps.

  • Nokia n95 and auto picture thumbnails ?

is there any way to stop phone to make those _PAlbTN dirs with tons of files ?
every time i transfer pictures to memory card, phone eating cpu and mem,
i cant use usb storage mode, and card's free space dropping down ....
total waste of battery and space since i dont need them at all :-(
    n95 8Gb fw 15.0.015

i had the same problem, i use MGMaps and i have something like 13.000 files ... so i can imagine the problem and the waste of memory.
But this is how i solve it:
    First way:
    - From my linux i change the folder permission to ready only (chmod 444 )
    Second way:
    - Download Y-Browser
    - Go to the folder then OPTIONS->FILE->ATTRIBUTES
    - You will see an option READY ONLY then you set it to YES

i bought the phone from a person here in Texas. Now if he got it with a upgrade or something of that nature i dont know..but is there anything else that could cause this issue...also im not that up to date on the term but sim free does that mean any sim card from any network will work in the phone?.. if so that is what i have..
When you say "cause this issue" I presume you mean the inability to upgrade the phone's firmware ?
If so no - it'll be because the firmware hasn't been released for your particular product code on your N95.
You can find your product code under the battery on your N95.
Although the phone might be able to use any SIM from any network this might not mean it was an original SIM free phone - just that it has been unlocked.
Is there any branding on the phone ?
