Nokia N95 Crashed,Dead

I have tried to update my Nokia N95 software and accidentally
unplug my USB cable. I lost everything on it id dead (Crashed)
I took it to Nokoa service (Australia) but they couldn't help me
as I purchased my N95 in Hong Kong It is not under warranty I offer to in cash, they told me to send it back to HK to get it fixed. Is NOKIA No.1 my understanding is they should be able to fix it anywhere in the World their product (N95) Can anyone help me please

I personally have had trouble with a Nokia Care Centre in Australia. I believe from what I have been told that the ncc's in Australia have no connection with Nokia. They are privately owned and operated service centre's and service Nokia phones on behalf of Nokia Australia. As you purchased your phone in HK it is probably outside of their scope to repair it. I would suggest that you telephone the Nokia Australia call centre (phone number in white pages phone book) and seek their guiedance.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

if the product is under warranty then the warranty is region specific, meaning dependent on where you bought it not necessairly where you live. Nokia Care Point may repair your phone in another region but it is going to cost you some good money, at least that is what i think might happen

  • Nokia n95 crashes while upgrading the software

When I was trying to install new software using nsu to my nokia n95. I noticed that the phone goes off and the nokia logo appeared (the light is off).
In a minute, the PC I was using told me that the phone has been disconnected. So, it asks me to turn the phone off, remove and replace the battery and turn the phone on again.
It happens again and again, about 4 times. The last time I tried that again, the phone won't turn back on.
It just has the nokia logo and nothing else happened. I tried the hard reset (green button things) but it still didn't work.
    So, please help me.
    thanks.

Go into your control panel, System > Hardware > Devices, look for the USB (Universal Serial Bus Controllers)
    [+]USB
    Generic USB hub

    Bleah
Simply right mouse click on all of them select "uninstall" once they've all been removed, restart your machine, windows will re detect all your USB devices, and hopefully this time windows will install either a newer or older version, different version of drivers.
Then re-install..... there's not a lot else you can try.

It can be fixed mate but i'd ask at a Service center as trying to fix them yourself could end up with you mucking the slide mechanism up which you don't want.

  • N95 crashes....alot

hi. ive had a nokia n95 for a while now and never really had any trouble with it. recently it keeps crashing. not just now and again, i mean every time i want to send a text, make a phone call, even listen to music. it sometimes gets so bad i cant slide the phone up without it crashing. ive done a hard reset, reformatted my memory card so i know i haven't got a virus, updated to the newest version firmware. but nothing. if anything i think the problem has got worse. any ideas guys because i really need my phone and i dont want to send it off for repair. i know everyone has problems with the phone restarting but i don't think anyone has got it this bad. 30-40 times a day and my battery is now on constant charge. also spent £30 on a genuine bl-5f but nothing. thanks for any help at all if anyone knows any solutions

Have you tried removing the card?
New card sizes have caused problems in the past - for some reason, it seems the firmware has to be tweaked each time a new size card is released. No, I don't understand why either.
If there are compatibility issues with the card - and particularly if you have anything stored on the card that the phone needs to use a lot like wallpaper or ring tones - it *might* explain the instability.

  • A Nokia N95 owner who just bought a Nokia N91 aswe...

    Hi guys
popped out last night and met a guy off of Ebay, he had a brand new unused Nokia N91 with Version 2 Firmware, he got it as a replacement handset from his 02 insurance and then 2 weeks later he got a Nokia N95
i gave him £110 for it and im pleased with it, stll had the label on the screen! Result!!
i couldnt stand the lack of volume and audio quality while playing MP3`s on my N95, i wll still use my N95 as my main phone but have put a pay as you go simcard in the N91 and will use as a spare mobile whenever i go on a long trip
why is the N91 just so much better at playing MP3`s?
its louder, better sound quality etc
i feel like i been duped getting the N95 when it should have been as good for playing Music
so far the N91 hasnt crashed or rebooted or any of the problems that i had with my previous ones that i sent back with HD problems
anyone else done the same as me?
    WAYNE HARRIS
    wayneharris.co.uk

N91 is better in the audio department.
    N91 has higher output power
N91 has better frequency response (from very low frequencies to very high)
N91 has better SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio, also because it has more output power)
N91 has better THD (Total Harmonic Distortion)
N91 has better response at very low frequencies (10-80 Hz range) thus is much better at outputing bass (not through the internal speaker but through the 3.5 mm connector)
    N91 has better playback time.
    N91 comes with 4GB or 8GB.
I have played with both the N91 and the N95, don't get me wrong, the N95 is not bad, but the N91 is better (WRT audio).
Of course the technical differences in the end mean nothing and unless you really want the best sounding device, then N95 may be good enough for you.
The N91 is not fragile, but it doesn't 'like' some of the third party apps. and that's when you start having probs.

  • Nokia N95 8GB data counter accuracy + T-Mobile (UK...

    Hi.
I have the 10GB per month web 'n' walk max package.
I use the Nokia N95 8GB as a modem for my computer as I do not have a land line.
I reset the Nokia's data counter (uploaded and downloaded totals) on the 1st of each month.
Since T-Mobile changed the service about 3 months ago I receive text warnings when I reach 80% of the fair use policy (i.e. 8GB) and a text if I hit 100% (i.e. 10GB). If I hit 10GB I am told that I will still be able to surf but not download at peak times.
There seems to be a big difference between what T-Mobile claim I have used and what the phone's counter shows. This month, for example, I have received the 80% warning but my phone only shows a total (up & down) of 6.3GB, 1.7GB difference.... quite large I feel! Last month I received a text telling me i had hit 100% but my phone only counted 8GB total.
When I contacted tech support they checked the system and came up with different figures. The 1st system which I believe is the same one customers can access by logging into t-mobile.co.uk and downloading the unbilled data usage figures gave about 8.7GB total. This system until very recently used to crash if you attempted to download the internet usage and had used a few gigs of data... useful. The support person then checked a second system which gave a total of 9GB. However these two different systems are not the ones that generate the warnings and also the cut-off (or rather reduced surfing restriction) texts. So T-Mobile have at least 3 systems.
So I have some obvious issues. T-Mobile have now stated that the data counter in the phone will not be that accurate and will miss some data, implying it is to do with counting compressed data rather than uncompressed. I disagree. The phone counter will surely count all 1s and 0s coming through it regardless of what they are. At this point I made the analogy to my electricity supply... the meter is in my house, that is the device by which I and my provider go by. They do not have a meter at the power station end. They bill me for what comes into my house at my front door and not what is sent out. That is the most accurate method for the customer.
I wonder what Nokia would say if T-Mobile inform customers that their hardware can not add up?
I believe there is a trading standards issue looming here as I do not believe I am getting what I pay for. At best appears to be 90% use. Whilst it is true they do not cut me off entirely if I exceed the 10GB, they are not letting me even reach that point. I seems similar to the current issues surrounding quoted broadband maximum speeds and actual obtainable speeds.
So has anyone had similar problems and disagreements about the fair use policy? Does anyone have any information / ideas about the Nokia data counter accuracy?
I am on the verge of contacting trading standards and any other suitable body about this.
    Many thanks.

    Thanks for replying.
If you are right, and as you say "I'm guessing", your butcher's analogy seems a good one. I know that the full data packet is not just the actual data but has the header attached (which I think can be up to 60 bytes?) but assumed that only the size of the contents would be counted not the wrapping. I wonder if this is what is actually going on. It would seem extremely unfair if it is especially as it can make a good gigaybte or more difference.
T-Mobile do not provide a reliable method to keep an eye on what is being used so what chance do I have? I still come back to my electricity supply analogy which I would say is similar to yours. My electricity supplier doesn't charge me for any electrical losses that occur between my front door and the power station (well not obviously anyway).
T-Mobile don't provide any software if you use the phone as a modem (unlike their web 'n' walk software if you use their USB dongle) and suggest you find software on the net to monitor your usage. However all the software I have tried seems to have limitations as to what type of data it can and can't monitor so is less than accurate and all have crashed at times and lost the running totals. The only accurate tool in my hands seems to be the phone itself.
Surely the customers shouldn't have to worry about transmission specifics, without those the net wouldn't work at all so how can they be charged for? Customers I guess would only want to pay for the actual data they are using. If I download a 1MB file I only want to pay for 1MB. Will the TV license people start charging extra for digital TV as the data is sent in packets?
    Hmmph!
    Thanks.

  • Nokia N95 USB Problem

I have a problem with my Nokia N95-1 considering the USB transfer to my Memory Card.
I have a 1GB Kingston MicroSD, the latest software (V 20.0.015, 13-11-07, RM-159, Balkans Pack, updated from V13); PC Suite v6.85.14.1 on Windows XP Professional.
While I was transfering some 300MB of music to the MicroSD, Explorer crashed and reported that data might have
been lost during the transfer. I checked my phone and noticed "ghost" files on the memory card (free memory was reduced by 300MB, but the phone couldn't register new files). I retransfered the files, disconnected the phone and started the Music Player.
Music Player said "Repairing corrupted database", hanged for a while and then added newly transfered files to the track list. But, when I tried to play a file, it refused to do it and said "Generalystem error". Phone became slow and impossible to operate, so I had to restart it. Same problem occured again, and similar things happened in File Explorer (shows nothing on the card), LCG Jukebox and LCG Xplore (get stucked when they access it or refuse to start files).
After this, I removed the MicroSD - after this, everything on my N95 returned to normal.
Since then, I've tried to change the USB Cable, USB Port, USB Transfer mode; tried to reformat my MicroSD many times with many formatting tools - Phone Memory Card Manager, Windows Formatter, KillDisk, Panasonic SDFormatter - but the result always remained the same: after I retransfer the files to the card, it becomes useless until I reformat it again.
These programs didn't register any corruptions, but Windows Formatter and Panasonic SDFormatter would sometimes report that they were unable to reformat the card.
I tried to insert the MicroSD into my MSI Mega538 MP3 player, reformat, and then transfer files to it. Again,
transfer itself worked okay, but when I inserted the card into my N95, same problem occured. I tried to transfer
some files to the Phone Memory via PC Suite - it worked great.
I tried to insert my friend's 1GB Kingston MicroSD into the phone. It registered it perfectly - Music Player has
refreshed the database, registered new files and played them without any problem. Same goes for the Gallery - some
400 images and videos were recognized right away, and the phone itself worked fast and stable.
When I bought my phone, I had no problems at all - files could be transfered normally, Music Player would simply
refresh the database, and I could use the files easily - no problems, system errors, system hangs or restarts. But after that Explorer crash, I simply can't use the memory card any more.
Sorry for long post, but I really need your help. Is the memory card corrupted, is it a hardware or software problem
with my N95, or is it a Windows glitch?

    Hi ivanik,
I strongly believe this is an issue with the card. Seeing that the phone works fine without it and works with a different card perfectly...
Perhaps it is an issue with the data that your transfering to the card. It may not be compatible to the phone. Thus the phone lags and doesnt play the files.
Try loading different data... perhaps one from a source...
Try this once you have formatted your card...

  • Nokia N95 - unable to activate mass storage mode

I'm having trouble with my Nokia N95 8Gb and mass storage mode.
WWhen I can eventually activate this mode after shutting down apps (just intellisync and location tracker), it usually lasts no more than 90s before the phone reboots itself.
This makes copying music rather difficult since
    - The music apps on pcsuite/nseries pcsuite are useless and crash on any attempt to sync (Vista x64)
    - Nokia music doesn't see the phone
    - file copy in pcsync is slow
    - USB mass storage mode doesn't work (ie for using iTunes sync)
    I'm on the v20 software.
    Any ideas?
I love my N95 8Gb -- but this is why people but iPhones/iPods... it's just too hard.

Thanks for the hint. However I'd rather not do this just yet. I'd prefer to figure out which app is in error.
So Q: Can one retrieve the cause of a phone crashing/rebooting? Is there a "system dump" ????.........
Point taken, but more often than not it's the O/S itself that is causing a problem, hence the need to perform the reset. And I don't think there is a core dump anywhere that you can examine. Even if there was, would it mean anything to you? You don't know what system variables are where (there won't be any debug symbols) and I'd challenge you to reverse engineer the system stack (if you knew where it was) in order to find the point in execution where the failure occurs.
This is, of course, assuming it is a software problem. If the problem persists after a reset and, optionally, a firmware reinstall, then it could well be a hardware problem that a Nokia Care Point should take a look at.

  • Nokia N95 and Maps Software

Hi, Just recently I bought licence to Maps from Nokia for one month just to check how it works. The day I bought this I could not open Maps software for a single time. Because whenever I click on maps, its load 90% then it hang. I tried again and again nothing it does not open, I restart the mobile, nothing happen. Can you please inform me what can I do? Thanking you.

    @countryjet123
Would need to know whether you are using Nokia Maps v2.0 or Ovi Maps v3 from here:http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-n95/
Map data is different between these versions and most common cause of application crashing is corrupt or incorrect data.
You may need to delete E:\cities + .qf file, re-open Maps application to re-initialise application and re-define necessary folder structure for Ovi Suite > Maps to re-download regional mapping.

  • N95 Crashes and Hangs

help please. My N95 crashed more than five times within 24 hours of my getting it. It would just show the logo and hang without rebooting or prompting to indicate whats gone wrong. For a while, removing and replacing the battery and SIM made it boot up again -- only to crash again a few hours after.
The N95 sent me running to the nearest nokia service center where they re-installed the software and managed to make it boot up again. But just when I thought the problem was solved, the darn phone crashed again when I tried to put in a new contact (ironically, the number of nokia repair!) The phone is now back in its box while I contemplate returning it to the store.
Thing is, I haven't even tried half the applications. Just setting up contacts seems enough to make the whole system collapse. This is the most unstable phone I've ever used!
Is my phone a lemon or is anyone else having the same problems? What's causing the crash and what should I do?

  • Who can solve iSync problem with Nokia N95? (I use the Nokia plug already)

    Hello
Since I bought my new cool Mac:, I sync my N95 with iSync and the Nokia N95 plug-in. Thinking at first that is works flawlessly (as other members here seem to think as well) I later found out, that if I make changes to any calendar or "to do" description! on either the N95 or the Mac it syncs, but only up until a certain number of characters. If I exceed this number, the description on the phone will simply be cut off - in the iCal it still fully appears though.
Rather surprising, since when syncing with a PC via the Nokia PC suite there is no such an issue. All my often lengthy descriptions are fully put on the phone. And if I sync back there are no problems either. So I guess it has to do with the iSync protocol or this Nokia N95 iSync plug-in? Any ideas, solutions...? Any help greatly appreciated!

The flex cable is damaged. Some years back when I had a Nokia N95 8GB the flex cable was damaged and for a few days the screen was showing strange colours at the display and eventually the screen became black. I went to a local repair shop and I replaced the flex cable and what I noticed was that the flex cable that it had no proximity sensor on it so I told the technician to remove the proximity sensor on the original one and replace it with the new flex cable. Another thing I discovered was that after fitting the flex cable and returning the cover the front camera was not in its usual position so the technician had to do some modifications to get it back to its normal position and after a few months it was damaged and this time I went to Nokia Care Centre and replaced the flex cable for a small fee and what I noticed was that the flex cable that I previously bought was a fake cable. The one bought from Nokia Care Centre had its proximity sensor and when the cover was returned the camera was in its exact position the same as it was with the original flex cable. What I wanted to say is that please beware of fake flex cables on the market and I suggest that you buy it from an authorised Nokia Dealer.
