Nokia n95 OTA update?

Hi Guys,
This my first post on this forum. So pl forgive me if this has already been posted elsewhere (i did look around before though)
Anyway, my query is: Can the nokia N95 be updated (firmware) OTA (either WIFI or 3G?)and how???
Thanks loads folks.
Cheers
Fuzzy

No, unfortunately OTA updates are not available.
Most models have the ability to be updated OTA but the system is not in use.
Your only options for updating are on a windows PC using the nokia software updater or at a nokia care point.

  • Nokia N95 - Software update v20.0.015 for Phone CO...

I purchased my Nokia N95 in the New York Flagship store in July. The phone hasn't really lived up to it's expectations and has been quite disappointing.
I have however been given hope with the v20.0.015 software update. I have just gone to update the phone however it is saying that the latest firmware is v12. This phone is unbranded, unlocked and purchased from your flagship store. I would like to know when the new software will be available for the phone CODE:0548763 so I can make my original investment of $812 work like it should have out of the box.

    I have the same problem...
My Swedish, unbranded phone 0546674 also only have v.13 available but the other swedish unbranded product codes (0534847, 0536068) have v.20 avalible.
What´s the thing with my code?
Yep, the same code as mine and no update.
Have mailed Nokia about it but no answer, absolutely nothing at all from them.

  • Nokia N95 8GB updates?

Should be receiving my nokia n95 8gb tomorrow
Just wondering if there are any updates I will need to download? (such as maps etc)
I'd have thought a new model would be fully updated but just to be sure.....
    thanks

The firmware will be fully up to date as there isn't any updates yet.
You will need to install the maps manually using the software on the supplied CD, unless your network provider has pre-loaded them for you.

  • Nokia N95 Software update

I recently updated ny Nokia N95 software from V12.0.013 to V20.0.015. Before updating as advised i had taken backup of all my data in memory card. After updating the software I restored the back from Memory card back to my phone. Even though all my messages, photos, music files where available but my Calender entries have been not been restored.
Can somebody please help me to know whether it is possible to once again restore the Calender entries back to the Phone 'Or' Is it possible to get this from the Memory Card. I had a practise of keeping record of important daily events in my Calender for the last 2 years which is now not available.

Can I just ask if your phone is network branded ? What network is yours phone on ? did you do anything different ? on mine its vodafone and it says version 11 is the latest ...
Mine is not Network branded. The new version is not yet made available for all the N95 Codes.
Nokia software update tells you whether the new version V20 is available for your phone. You have to know your phone code.

  • Telstra Nokia N95 software update?

    Hi all,
I recently purchased an N95 from a Telstra shop on 15/05/08, tried to update my firmware, have the latest version of PC suite 6.86.93, the N series PC suite, and the software updater. I've been reading the news on the N95 and Nokia states it's at version 21++ for firmware, doing the *#0000# check my Telstra N95 us coming up with firmware 10.02.006
Ok so I'm thinking sure, newly bought phone, I just need to update my firmware but that apparently seems to be impossible, everytime I try a firmware update my N95 it's telling me it's on the latest software for that phone.
Browsing around forum posts it would appear that not all N95's were created equal, I'm thinking Telstra is selling the N95-3, what I would like to know, and emailing Nokia customer service has proven to be quite useless on this matter:
ie stock standard cut and paste answers without them investigating this particular N95 variant's lack of firmware support, or being proactive in their solutions.
The response I had from them is you have an N95, the N95 is on version 21 for the firmware, phone companies that sell those phones sometimes have to verify the firmware before it can be put on, here's a link to the software updater, that's all fine, that's all information I could find out on my own too, what i would have liked them to tell me is, what version of firmware has Telstra allowed this phone to be updated to or is this a generic N95-3 lack of firmware love problem and if it is Telstra then do they have a liaison who can tap on the shoulder and say, "hey you know we are way ahead with the updates on firmware, you might want to update things on your end and let our customers keep up with the latest firmware other N95 users out there have access to because this really isn't representing our product at it's best..."
Or if it's a lack of N95-3 support, then what's being done about it?
Any other Telstra N95 users out there with this problem?

im thinking about going to the local nokia store and requesting a upgrade in firmware for free to try and bypass telstra's lack of progress.
They won't do it. That would involve removing the network-approved firmware and replacing it with generic firmware.

  • Nokia N95 not updating using the Nokia Software Up...

    Hi guys
just got my n95 today, it has v10 fw on it and i would like to update it to v12.
ive downloaded and installed latest pc suite and downloaded the latest nokia update software
i run the updater and it says found new software (v12), please tick the box to acknowledge etc etc
so i click on ok, and it says updating....
then 2 mins later i get this screen:
    http://aycu30.webshots.com/image/24429/2000451008485701969_rs.jpg
Which says "phone recovery - please remove battery and restart the phone"
so i got to take battery out and retry, but i get the same error. not too sure what to do now? the fw it downloaded was 113mb.
i have tried it on vista pc/laptop and a xp pro pc and still get the same error.
ive tried using different usb ports, connected the usb directly to pc (without any hubs etc) and still get the same error.
it looks like this n95 doesn't want to be updated. The n95 still works though, i just want to update its software
anyone had any thing similar? is there anything else i could try?
    any help is much appreciated

Handsets that allow for updating, have a small piece of software within them often called the boot loader, that allows the new upgraded software to be flashed into the device.
If the Boot Loader is damaged, then the upgrade of the device software from the Nokia Software updater cannot be performed.
A Nokia care point is able to rectify this because they can use the service connector on the handset to reflash the software with their equipment.
This will be done for free if your handset is in warranty.
    Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black
Nokia E72-1 with Vr 051.018.207.04 Software
If this post helped... Add some kudos!!

  • Nokia N95 not updating

My phone has version 13.0.0003 on it, nokia web is telling me i can update to 21.00.00 or some thing like that but the updater software tells me my phone is up to date can any one help.

SIM-locking and branding are two totally different things.
If you get a phone from a network operator it'll be branded and SIM-locked. You can remove the SIM-lock by entering the restriction code that the operator will either give or sell to you depending on their policy, but even though you can use any operator's SIM in the phone afterwards it'll still be branded with the original operator's firmware.
Now, if you bought your phone SIM-free and not through an operator then the chances are that it's unbranded anyway. However, firmware upgrades appear for different regions at different times.
I don't recognize the product code you gave so I don't think it's a European model. This means that you'll probably have to wait for the firmware to be translated into the languages of your region.

Everytime when I try to update it, I download the 113 mb of software update, the program makes my cellphone restart, and my cellphone freezes with the Nokia logo and only way to turn on my cellphone is to take the battery off and reconnect it. I do not know whether to send it to the technical service or send it back to the retailer i bought in US. Please help me, i am desperate...

U must know (and u have agree) when using nokia software, nokia will not responsibility if your phone damage.. Anyway, u still can send to nokia service centre in your area if u want..

i bought the phone from a person here in Texas. Now if he got it with a upgrade or something of that nature i dont know..but is there anything else that could cause this issue...also im not that up to date on the term but sim free does that mean any sim card from any network will work in the phone?.. if so that is what i have..
When you say "cause this issue" I presume you mean the inability to upgrade the phone's firmware ?
If so no - it'll be because the firmware hasn't been released for your particular product code on your N95.
You can find your product code under the battery on your N95.
Although the phone might be able to use any SIM from any network this might not mean it was an original SIM free phone - just that it has been unlocked.
Is there any branding on the phone ?

    Edward

    Hello All,
It looks like new firmware update is available for Nokia N95 basic model .
Earlier Version of Firmware was : 30.0.015
Now the latest available Firmware was : 31.0.014
When i connected my N95 to PC using PC-Suite, it notified me about this. But when i searched the internet for change log , i found none. Is it right firmware , why Nokia didn't disclose change log, which it used to do it earlier ???
I will wait for 2 more days for official communication from Nokia....

Ok, so no one wants to install this firmware because theyre affraid they loose their freedom?
Somebody should shine a light on this FW, or nokia has

having the exact same problem with my e71. running Vista Sp2. updated to new PC Suite/NSU, it recognizes my phone but then fails once it tries to update firmware to 300.21.012.
i've seen a variety of solutions online and none have worked. among them:
    restarting computer
    restarting phone
selecting "general" profile (or "normal" on e71)
    turn off Internet Connection Sharing
    run NSU in Compatibility Mode
    turn off Aero Glass
    make IE default browser
    disable antivirus software
    disable firewall
    disable Offline Mode in IE
    quit all other running apps
shut down all Nokia apps, plug in phone, THEN start NSU
that's all i can remember. anyway, none of it has worked. also saw a post that maybe Nokia's servers are just down.
    any thoughts?
