You are better off taking it to a Nokia service point, especially if you still have warranty. Any kind of disassembly by the user, such as to fit a new casing, is not authorised by Nokia and so you could cause damage to the phone which would leave you unprotected if a genuine fault occurs with the phone.

I have a nokia n95 and was wondering if there were any settings/freeware signed applications you could install to end the call by sliding down the slider?
    Thanks

The N95 doesn't have this built in, but there's a 3rd party application out there called "ShutUp", I think, which should do the trick for you.

  • Problem with nokia n95 lcd. Black screen and flex ...

Hi i have a nokia n95. I have it since its first year in the market. I am very pleased with the phone but the last month sudenly when i slide to open the phone's screen was not responding. The actual phone was working great. I could receive calls and make calls, listen to music and everything else. The screen was black though. As i am a technician with experience on iPhones mostly i thought that the lcd was damaged. So i ordered one from the internet and 2 days ago i received it. When i installed it i had the same problem. The phone works but the screen not. Then i completely dissaseblied the phone for one more time and i noticed something that i hadn't before at the flex cable. The flex cable consists of 2 flat cables. Well the one is completely broken. Take a look at the following pictures and please tell me you opinion. I am 99.9% sure that this is the cause of the lcd problem. I want to tell me if i should buy the flex cable. I can't go to a nokia center because the phone is out of the warranty over 2 years now. So the only option is to change it on my own.

The flex cable is damaged. Some years back when I had a Nokia N95 8GB the flex cable was damaged and for a few days the screen was showing strange colours at the display and eventually the screen became black. I went to a local repair shop and I replaced the flex cable and what I noticed was that the flex cable that it had no proximity sensor on it so I told the technician to remove the proximity sensor on the original one and replace it with the new flex cable. Another thing I discovered was that after fitting the flex cable and returning the cover the front camera was not in its usual position so the technician had to do some modifications to get it back to its normal position and after a few months it was damaged and this time I went to Nokia Care Centre and replaced the flex cable for a small fee and what I noticed was that the flex cable that I previously bought was a fake cable. The one bought from Nokia Care Centre had its proximity sensor and when the cover was returned the camera was in its exact position the same as it was with the original flex cable. What I wanted to say is that please beware of fake flex cables on the market and I suggest that you buy it from an authorised Nokia Dealer.

    i have firmware version 10.0.018
will the update sort this for definate?

    - Have you tried stopping/quitting all applications running in the background ?
    - Have you installed any third party product that may cause the problem ?

  • HELP!! Nokia N95 restarting !! and more!!

    Okay
im now on my 3rd Nokia N95 from the 02 network
the first 2 handsets had high pitch whining noise and awful sliders which were wobbling on the right hand side, appaulling workmanship, i dont even know how they were allowed to leave the Nokia Factory like this!
maybe the workers were all drunk or something?
it isnt only me thats complained of these faults, check all the other forums about the N95!
anyway, my 3rd handset has been working ok
    (or so i thought)
everything was working fine, no wobbly slider, no whiny noise..
but about 3 - 4 times per day as of 3 days ago, the phone just restarts itself when its just sat there!!!
WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING ?
have i now got to sent this **bleep** handset back aswell?
i dont want to drive 20 miles to nearest Nokia Service Centre, WHY should i ????
i also left my house this morning at 5.30am to take a friend to the Airport, the phone was unplugged from the Charger with full battery life, i used sat nav to get there and back, its now 9.35am and i have 2 bars left on te battery life!!
truly appauling if you ask me
will new firmware sort the resarting and battery life?
or do i have to just give up on this handset and buy another model by another Manufacturer?
im at my wits end with these N95`s

I saw some build quality issues highlighted on a review: you'd think they'd at least check phones that were going to reviewers!

That's a typical problem for a newly released N-series. Unfortunately, this is only likely to be fixed by a firmware upgrade. Check you have the latest version. If you do: you're fresh out of luck .. for a while.

That's no surprise at all: when you use the GPS the phone is working all the time. It's kinda like you made a 4 hour (or however long the trips were) phone call. The surprise is that you have any battery left at all!
When I use my N80 for navigation, I usually have either the phone or the GPS receiver on charge virtually all the time.
It's probably no consolation right now, but most of us who bought phones soon after their release have gone through very similar teething problems and we know how hideously frustrating they are. The good news is that if you do hold out, the 2nd or 3rd firmware release normally fixes the worst of the problems and you do finally get that awesome phone you thought you'd bought.

  • Nokia N95: how do I stop it going landscape? + Cra...

My Nokia N95 will somehow just flip to landscape view.
I can't figure out how to get it back?
    Can someone let me know!
    Thanks.
ALSO: when I am speaking to someone on the phone... the other persons sound is crackly.
It's really getting on my nerves.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Or should I contact Nokia for a problem fix?
ALSO: when I'm speaking to someone... how do I put up or down their sound?
When speaking to someone... I've tried clicking on every button: but none of them do anything.
With most other phones. you can adjust the sound up or down while on a call.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks.
    OM

donno about the crackly thing but u should be able to adjust the volume with the skinny little up down button on the side of the phone, when you're on a call
also sometimes my phone slides down in my pocket a little bit (revealing the music buttons) and it flips it into landscape, if i just push the screen up and down again it corrects it
    hope this helps!

  • Nokia n95 8gig occasssional crashes

    Hi
My Nokia n95 8gig Randomly crashes and i have to take out the Battery for it to work again.. very frustratingas i miss out on call's msg's etc thinking phone is on and its actually dead.
This usually happens when my phone is idle for a few hours.
it is only 6 months old .
should i reformat ?any suggestions gretaly appreciated.
    Regards
    Warmride

It can be fixed mate but i'd ask at a Service center as trying to fix them yourself could end up with you mucking the slide mechanism up which you don't want.

  • Nokia N95 - im on 02 Network - need help from ALL ...

    Hi guys and gals
as you all know from my many many previous posts, i am now on my 3rd Nokia N95
i have had this one since the 4th of April this year
and still this phone is doing my head in!
it keeps restarting all the time, the clicky wobbly slider and high pitch noise were apparent in both of my first 2 handsets..
my Nokia Bluetooth headset (model: BH-900) takes 4-5 attempts before it actually stays connected! keeps disconnecting!
ok, can ANYONE tell me if im being over-sensitive, but on the keypad where the RED and GREEN buttons are, do ANY of you have a lot of wobbling and a lot of give on this itself or minor movement? or is it absolutely solid as a rock with no movement whatsoever?
it feels loose and tacky, trouble is im on an 18 month contract and i want this phone to last the duration!
i got through to the 02 Returns team and spoke with this really arrogant snotty stuck up **bleep** who said that i have to return the handset and be without my N95 for 5 days!
he was extremely sarcastic and just didnt care what i was saying
I said this was unacceptable! i made a formal complaint on his attitude
im on an 18 month contract paying £40+ a month!!!
one of the team leaders very kindly organised a straight doorstep swap after owning the 3rd handset for over 2 months now.
normally its no more than 28 days! so thats a result
i just wanted to know of any recent 02 online customers having the same problems i have had as stated above
or am i too expect my 4th replacement with wobbling sliders, high pitch noises, loose pads where the green and red buttons are?

Only had mine since Friday and not actually received/made any calls yet so can't comment on hissing etc. But the slider seems fine on mine - the area around the red/green buttons could be perceived to be wobbly but on mine that is just the whole of the top part (the bit which slides) moving slightly up and down because it is separate to the bottom part of the phone. The actual buttons are fine.
I daresay though, that going by my track record with all my equipment recently I shall have some problems to report/ask for advice on.

  • Nokia N95 8Gb Keypad Fault

    Hi All,
I have a Nokia N95 8Gb which has developed a strange keyboard fault..
The number and top plate buttons only work when the slider is virtually closed, with just the *,0 and # keys exposed. If you slide it all the way open, none of the keys work. If you slide it all the way shut, none of the keys work.
I have tried removing the battery for a more than 30 minutes with no success.
I have also carefully taken the phone to pieces and re-seated the ribbon cable plug and it all looks fine. There are no obvious splits or breaks in the ribbon although the phone is quite old and has seen some use! The screen works fine at all times.
I cannot do a hard reset on the phone either by typing the number or power on key sequence as the buttons won't work with the slider open far enough to get to the keys. I have tried operating the phone with the front removed but this was not successful as the slider has to be in the exact position described above otherwise the keys won't work at all. I have however reinstalled the firware (version 35.0.001) and this will have done a reset on completion and this hasn't made any difference.
I have a number of questions:
    1. Has anyone seen this problem on the N95 8Gb please?
    2. Any idea if it is likely to be a brake in the ribbon cable? (I would have expected to see a problem with the screen if this was the case though.
    3. Does anyone know if a fault with the ribbon cable would cause the main number keys to stop working too?
    Thanks!

@Stolly: Reason for this is that this boards are the official Nokia discussion sites provided by Nokia. Taking any phone apart voids the warranty. Warranty voiding topics are no-go here even though your phone is 4 years old.
People come here to seek help from Nokia users and there is a great chance that users believe it's okey and recommended to take their phones apart to fix the issues themselvs after reading posts. - In many cases people will make things worse and void their warranty, so when they eventually need to seek help at a Nokia care point, they will find themselv to be rejectet because their warranty is voided.
    Nokia won't support that.
If you want to discuss any non-official ways to handle your device, please visit a non-official forum.

  • Nokia N95 8gb problems - freezing, fuzzy screen et...

Ok so been using the Nokia N95 8gb phone for about a week now and noticed that there is a tendency for the phone to freeze for up to 10 seconds like when opening other things such as Inbox etc. The problems mainly occur when the phone is slid shut, then when resliding the phone open the phone freezes or sometimes screen stays black until battery is taken out!
When the phone is slid shut sometimes the screen goes fuzzy in places aswell like a TV with no reception. The text and theme on the phone sometimes goes a dodgy colour aswell like a negative photo and sometimes even goes back to front and the wrong way round?? Anyone else had similar problems or knows what this is??

Its unlikely to have the same issue after doing a software upgrade, it could be some application on your memory card or the simcard .
You may try the steps below
    - A soft reset by keying in *#7780# when on standby - This will not delete any data but will restore all the settings back to default.
If that does not help then you may wanna try doing a hard reset by keying in *#7370# when on standby - This will reformat the phone. DO NOT FORGET TO DO A BACK UP AS THIS WILL ERASE YOUR ENTIRE PHONE MEMORY.
The security code by default is 12345
Also would be best to reformat your memory card and sim cards well as there might be some applications in there which is causing your phone to lag.
Mark me a KUDOS if this has helped...

  • N95 Slider problem

    Hi all,
As has been posted recently by another user, with the new software version 20.xx, the N95 slider sync does no longer function with the multimedia menu, i.e. it does no longer open the menu automatically when we slide the slider downwards to reveal the media keys. I think that Nokia (N.B. Hole and team )should rather release another version upgrade that corrects the problem. The thing is that when you just bought a new phone, and it does not function as per the manual or as it should, then things go bad for the user and surroundings.
I believe that Nokia should rather replace the function back again for the media slider.
Any tips on solving the problem anyone in the meantime?

It was actually part of the firmware, they knew it was not needed as it was quite anoying, just press the multimedia key if you need it.

  • NOKIA N95 EXTREMELY POOR BATTERY

    Hei.
I have bought Nokia N95 last week and returned it today after extremely poor battery performance. I observed following things:-
    1) I charged the battery full early in the morning at 6. I recieved just one call at 9 and my battery was finished at 2:30. Just for 8 hours standby time?
    2) I charged it fully, used GPS for 30 mins and battery was finsihed after 3 hours? What was that?
    3) I fully charged the battery connected to WIFI and did chat on MSN for around 1 hour and battery was finished exactly after 3.5 hours.
Nokia builtup so great device and with so much poor battery?
We will be getting battery replacement? or nokia will be releasing some new battery in future for N95?
Anyone if having same problem with battery please post comments here or its just with my device?
    Waqar.

    selling my n95 on ebay
    battery is too poor
i need a phone that dosent need charging 2x 3x every day just for average general use
gonna go back to my n73 battery is much better operating system is nice and stable after v4 on n73-- i hate the key miss bug in the v12 firmware on n95 --
    i dont need wifi
dont like maps and in built gps as it takes so long even with the assisted thing turnt on
my n73 and tomtom is up and running in 1 min max via bluetooth gps
allthough it would be handy to have the inbuilt one when i didnt have my reciever but my battery would prob drain after 1-2 hours :-)
my gps reciever goes for at least 6 hours constantly connected probs much longer and that only cst 30 quid
dunno i was just much more satisfied with the n73 as a contract upgade
    even the slider seems loose
this device is supposed to cost 500+ quid on nokias website
if i paid that i would be sooooo dispaointed
    just my view
if your near a power source all the time or are in the car with a charger youd prob be ok but i just think nokia could/should have put a better battery in there i mean it plays music for like 3-4 hours then batterys drained a half decent mp3 player will last 10-15 hours and my n73 does 5-6 no probs :-)
cheeses it even more they release the american nokia n95 with bigger battery

  • Help with my nokia n95 please.

    Hi all.
I am with 3g network, i had a free upgrade a few months ago, did not like the mobile they sent me ( nokia 6288 ).
So i bought a brand new nokia n95 from ebay, locked to vodafone network.
I had it unlocked saturday and put my 3g sim card in it.
The phone is working, but i could not send picture messages or brow,s the web.
I managed to sort those 2 probs out with the help of the nokia website, had to download 2 codes for my phone.
does anyone know how i can get my gps to work with the 3g network ?.
I did phone my network provider, and was told it will not work, becouse my n95 needs to be locked to the 3g network.
    Can anyone help me please.
    Regards
    Ken.

    Hi kenbo
Although "voice navigation" requires purchasing a license, GPS feature is not network dependent. You can however have a free "3 day trial"
Firstly if you are using v12.0.013 software on your N95 it is a lot quicker to obtain fix with A-GPS feature, although an active connection via WLAN or Network is needed.
Go outside away from buildings and tress with clear view of sky. Open slider and hold phone at 45degrees, don't cover "#" key as GPS antenna beneath it. Low cloud or rain will make satellite acquisition a lot longer.
If you go to Menu > Tools > GPS data > (searching for + calculating data) > Position > Options > Satellite status
This shows any number of satellites up to five - empty rectangle = not locked on - black filled rectangle = signal acquired; you need a minimum of 3 solid bars for lock-on and triangulation to work!
Depending upon which version of Nokia Maps is installed on your N95 you may either have satellite icon bottom right of your screen or satellite icon with three yellow or green lights.

  • I need good advices for a Nokia N95 please...

I'm going to buy a Nokia N95 from a GSM Store near me and I wish to check first if the phone it's original. I know that there are some things I must check ( The star *, the seventh and eighth digit from IMEI, the size of the camera, if there is written Nseries on the back of the phone, under the Nokia logo) but anything else I don't know....so is there anything that I can check which is only, and only  for Nokia original phones....something that the replicas don't have? I'm asking this because I deeply want not to get hoaxed.
Thank you so much for your help,
    David

look carefully under the battery where it was make if its not Hungary or Finland it might be fake...
look at the menu and touch the landscape menu and there you can see if it works good or its a fake..I had an N95 and it was made in finland at everything was ok it was original but before i bought it I payed attention at battery, production country, camera settings and qualitty, the slide and the quality of screen..If its fake you can observe pixels on the screen faster then at the original phone...
I hope this would help you

  • Shall i send my Nokia N95 back again ???

    Hi Everyone
im now on number 3 of my Nokia N95`s
im on 02 online tariff and have an 18 month contract with them
my first 2 handsets had the wobbly loose slider and annoying high pitch noise
my 3rd one was absolutely fine, no loose sliders, no high pitch noise or anything, i WAS happy with it in every way...
but it has recently started re-starting itself 2-3 times per day
i have version 11 firmware, and its still doing it!
i have a 4th handset coming tomorrow, but im worried that if i hand this one over i will get one like the first 2!
is this restarting problem common ??
or have i a bad handset? should i keep it?
i thought version 11 firmware would cure this
do you think the driver who delivers it will let me open it and check for wobbly slider etc?
    thoughts?

Im on my 5th N95 02 hand set in 8 wks! 1st slider probs ,2nd slider probs plus kept restarting, 3rd slider so loose it moved from side to side about 3mm each way it actualy rattled! 4th kept restarting slider better but still not right compared to a friend of mine who has one on orange its perfect! the slide is tight and a uniform gap is kept all round!!! so they are out there!! I would swap to orange but 02 is the only net work that is a strong signal where i live!! 5th and present hand set has been to the nokia service center in st albans and i was told that it has EXCESSIVE play and movement in the slide even after they had installed a new slider mech!! sooo after ringing 02 they said that they will do a doorstop exchange but i could be waiting for 3 weeks due lack of stock!! The driver will not let you check parcel contents because if the phone is faulty he would be responsible for the security tape being broken!!!. Fair play to 02 they have kept there word and its not there fault!! Guess i might be too fussy !But i just want the product that was advertised in all the bus stops in central london and alike to last out a 18 month contract.
