Nokia N95 v31.0.017 Bugs- Demanding a new firmware...

Hello guys, I have recently upgrade my firmware from a nice v30 to v31 with hope of improvement in many things. But I end up very regretful after. My phone is no longer do what V30 allowed me to do.
For example:
Taking Picture using the standard built in Software within the OS. My phone refused to start the Camera Application. Also refused to enable accelerometer for "Rotate Screen" mode. When ever i enabled it, a few seconds later my phone get on a plane of forever reseting every time it started up, it will reset itself again and again. I tried to re-install the firmware many times, 5times in total, but nothing good happening from it.
The Camera is not at fault here, I tested it with the "Barcode Scanner" software and it work fine. Also tested the camera with the PhotoRite and it also works. I am very disappointed in NOKIA, I've using nokia for the last 5years and this is the worst things that I've never ever met.
If anyone can tell me what to do from here would be nice. I just got my phone back from the Service Centre today. And update today, and very upset today..
is there a way to roll back tot the original firmware?

[n95 v31.0.017]Certain mp3s cause problems

With latest fw (31.0.17) I noticed that music player many times stall while checking
for new music.
First I didn't know why, I even reuploaded same firmware, but the problem persisted.
After extensive testing, I found out that certain mp3s do that. They are however perfectly playable by
other players (e.g. winamp, amarok, corePlayer...), but seems to cause multiple problems on the phone.

Upload this file with vfat safe chars (the problem is not in the filename, I have other music tracks that do the same and doesn't contain special chars like this one).
Possible steps to reproduce problems:
1 - stalled file manager:
- open file manager
- browse to uploaded file
- open it
File manager should remain half-blank, you have to kill it.
2 - stalled music player
- open music player
- from first screen choose Options → Refresh
Music player will endlessly scan for new music.
I never had problems with older firmware, I urge nokia to fix this ugly bug.

I don't have an N95, but I suspect it is the id3 tags causing the problem. They are encoded using ID3 v2.4, which isn't well supported on hardware players. As you list Amarok in the list of players you've tried successful I'm going to assume it is the culprit, as editing tags with Amarok always results in v2.4 being used. This behavior is hardcoded, with no user configurable way to change it.
I've run into the exact same problem with my current mp3 device, and as it seems you run Linux, I can suggest installing kid3 (KDE is not necessary). It has a 1-click feature to convert v2.4 tags into v2.3, which has far wider support amongst hardware players. You'll find similar software to kid3 for Windows and OSX if Linux isn't your bag, but you will have to hunt for that yourself

Media Key Problem - N95 V31.0.017

Hi,
after updating my N95 to version 31.0.017 some strange thing happened - all shortcuts in the main window didn't work. so i restored factory defaults and all is well.
Except:
when pressing the media key, the icons load and the sound plays but as soon as it is supposed to load the background (fuzzy picture of someone and the sky) the menu closes and returns to the phone regular wait screen.
What to do?

Happens to my N82, too - the Multimedia menu closes immediately after opening. Happens by no obvious reason (though I've noticed that most often the bug occurs after playing MP3s). A phone restart fixes the things, though. Does restart help you? If not, you can write to Nokia and let them knwo of the problem (I think I've sent them an e-mail). Though it will not directly help you, it might urge them to release an update

well guys ive noticed a bug with the v30 firmware it makes my phone constantly vibrate sometimes and the only way i can stop that is if i turn the phone off and back on
witch sucks
as i thought by now nokia would have got it right
is there anyway i can go back to v21 ?

Help- problems with V31.0.017 NOKIA N95

HI everybody
i got nokia n95, and i recently upgraded it to the last version.
unfortunately,now my GPS does not work, he can only get 4 satlite and i can not navigate with it.
i have read that this problem is common and i am not the first one to report it,any idea what i can do now?
can i downgrade to a version that does work and has no bugs?
does anyone got nokia's official reply?
will they fix it by free?

I'm have a Nokia N95-1 and few days ago i update firmware on my N95-1 to version 31.0.017:
The my GPS work very fine, but after update firmware to 31.0.017 the Connection Point for A-GPS was been reset...
Check the Tools->Settings->Phone->Location ( Connection point (GPRS internet connection point for example) for A-GPS and Location Server sets! )
Also check the GPRS Internet connection point settings for you local cellular operator!
Then i set this options - the A-GPS working again... And GPS position in any application fix about 30 seconds.
If it not resolved you problem try visit you local Nokia care center ...
Few month ago i fixed this problem ( problems was been founded in hardware in my N95-1 )

Is Nokia releasing a new firmware for the E72?

After the bugs introduced with the latest firmware (no company search, SMS and calls recepction,...), does anybody know if Nokia has plans to fix them in a new firmware release?

Last week I updated the firmware of my E61 to version 2 and I really regret it. (is there anyway of going back to the old firmware? ) I cant stand pressing blue function key when I browse the web on my E61 every single time I want to use a shortcut, it gets reallllly annoing after a few times. I think most of E61 users will agree with me that this 'bug' ruined this update. Also there seems to be a problem with mp3 player. When an equaliser preset is active it goes off every time you change the song and you have to press volume up or down in order to set it on active again. I know there are more bugs in this new firmware but I think those two I mentioned are bothering me the most. I would also be very very thankful if the new firmware will have support for PAP for EAP-TTLS. (or maybe a separate plugin ?) any replies are welcome (especially from the Nokia staff )

The iPad 4, which is now also called the iPad with retina display, essentially replaces the iPad 3, which is no longer available except as a refurbished product. The naming is confusing, as both the iPad 3 and iPad 4 had a retina display. The iPad 4 has the same price points but with a fater processor, better Facetime camera, lightning connector, and faster wi-fi. The bugs of N95-1 firmware v.20.0.015:
(Software bugs)
1. After many times connect and disconnect jack 3.5 stereo cable or media cable a phone hangs or restart.
2. If run music player and call update library & switch to main menu, the music player hangs & close it's self after few seconds. After this hangs & self close no one music track can't be play. ( It's fixed after restart phone ).
3. Put to SD card to Music folder few files. Run the music player & update library - we have add new tracks to library. Exit from music player, remove music files that has been add to SD and run the music player again. Update library again - result 0 files add (it's right), but files that has been removed still in media library and do ways for clear library!
4. Turn the camera ring for run camera applicatio. The Camera application has runed. Make one foto using button on phone body. After shot we see the foto preview. Don't close application and turn back the camera ring - must be close camera application and preview - but preview has closed but camera application still runing and we see black screen ( because camera lense has closed).
( may be present any other bugs - i think bugs on N95-1 more that i print...)

I state in Russia in Saint-Petersburg - it's big sity ( second after Moscow), but i run the GPS maps application or GPS-data, or Google Maps, & GPS receiver very poor take the satelites signals! I try run it's in difference locations & on open landscape & in vilage & on hi levels houses - but GPS try connection and get satelites information more that 30minutes and one or two times applications will taked information about one or two satelites no more ( on test positions has been connection to EDGE with 3G support and turn on A-GPS ) !!!
THAT's THIS??? NOKIA YOU MUST RESPONCE FOR YOU PRODUCTS AND THEN YOU APPROVE ABOUT THAT N95 CAN USING GPS NAVIGATION!!!
Also too very slow N95-1 work with SD card and other memory stores!!! It's very poor for Smartphone!!! No one devices not have so very poor transfer with memory store!!!

After upgrading fm v11, I can't download any ringtones anymore ! :cry:
Vodafone Live -> Ringtones -> NO SUPPORTED RINGTONES FOR YOUR PHONE MODEL
I tried to download from other ringtone-sites: same result!

N95-1 V31.0.017 SMS Error

After updating to the new firmware, i cannot read or view any messages which are and were previously stored on my memory card. I've reinstalled the firmware twice & i've hard reset three times but i've not idea what to do next.
I just can't access the messages, their present in their folders but they do not open. However pc suite can access the messages and data, so its strange.
Also new messages or saved drafts cannot be saved. If i switch to the phone memory, its fine.
If i delete the old message store and make an empty memory card a new store it works fine but i need my previous messages.
Any idea how to fix this?

Well i dont believe its the memory card since everything appears there its just not openeing on the phone, yet pc suite is reading everything fine. Plus my memory card being faulty would only affect my messages? Where i have 6gb of space and nothing else is affected. I've also moved the data & erased the card, still causing problems.
I think nokia has changed some things & its so hard to find a change log, we dont know what those things are. I'll try a smaller memory card just in case thought.
I've had this memory over a year & not one data access or writing error.

Nokia N95 8Gb Maps V2.0 problems.

I have had the new Nokia N95 8Gb for just over 2 weeks - I had it from my local Carphone Warehouse in Broughton (near
Chester). The problems I have with Nokia Maps V2.0 are as follows :-
1. Very slow on calculating a route - I am visiting numerous factory sites around the UK, so I saved the postcodes. On this particular occassion, I wanted to plan a known route home from one of the sites (53 miles), and I was nearly home when it had planned the route.
2. When a route has been calculated, the cursor showed itself just to the side of the road I was on, thus telling me I was not on a road.
3. Keeps changing the orientation - from pointing in the diretion I want to go (forward), to the direction I have been (backwards).
4. Planned road display changes from full width to narrow line - at this point, it no longer knows where it is and tries to recalculate route until the road changes back to full width.
I looked at the various forums (both Nokia and others), and there are many threads reporting the problems I have described above. I tried all of the suggestions including :-
1. Switching off Assisted GPS - in the Positioning methods - seemed to make no difference.
2. Use an external GPS receiver - much better in locating position, but still the same problems in reliability detailed above.
3. Switched off the go online when starting up Nokia Maps - this just made locating position take much longer.
4. Full hard reset of the phone, twice - no improvement.
5. Download Nokia Maps V2.0 and re-install - no improvement.
The overriding conclusions from the various forums was that Nokia Maps V2.0 is a backward step and that Nokia Maps V1.2 was so much better. As a consequence, I downloaded Nokia Maps V1.2 and loaded this up. I used it for a 400 mile round trip with no problem at all - directions were clearly displayed, route calculation was quick and it never lost it's position. Unfortunately, I can only use the route planning for 3 days - free test from Nokia when I connected to see licence details. The
only issue I have is that as my car has Bluetooth, I cannot use the voice navigation whilst using Nokia Maps, however, this is not an issue as I just keep checking the screen.
As I am pretty reliant on being able to get to the various sites without complications, there is no way that I will reload Nokia Maps V2.0 until I can be assured of its reliability. Unfortunately, I can not use the route
planning either as my licence relates to Nokia Maps V2.0. What I want is to either transfer my 2 licences to Nokia Maps V1.2, or have a refund for Nokia Maps V2.0 and then purchase licences for Nokia Maps V1.2.
Any assistance would be gratefully received. I have been in contact with Nokia Care who have suggested reloading maps 2.0, however I have already done this. They now suggest updating the phone software, however, it is at v 30.0.018 (pre-loaded) which is the latest version. I am due to take it in to my local Nokia Care Centre tomorrow and let them look at it.

i've just read the thread you posted on10th dec 2008 about nokia maps v2.0. what was the outcome of your n95?
this is my 1st time on this forum. i've got n95 (silver) that has recently been upgraded to software v31.0.017. I also had to upgrade map loader to get maps v2.
