Nokia N96 bluetooth problem
The phone does not detect other buetooth devices. When i click new paired device under the paired devices in the bluetooth section the phone displays the message " (no paired device)"
The phone is visible by other devices and can pair with them, but it just does not detect and display other devices so i am unable to use my handsfree set.
What could be the cause of this?
Did you check the visibility status of the other device you are trying? does it set to visible? for example in your PC go to bluetooth settings and check "Allow other devices to find this computer" similarly blue tooth headsets are usually in hidden state, you should make it visible by looking at the headset manual. If your headset is with only one call/end key usually a long press (form off) will put it in visible mode (usually an active light (rather than a blinking light) is an indicator for visible mode) Let me know if it was a help.

Basically, it wont turn on.
I got the phone about a month ago, and at first the bluetooth worked fine. Then, I came to use it, and whenever I try to turn it on, on the connectivity screen, it wont turn on, no matter how many times I press the ok button.
Oh, and at one point, I locked myself out of my phone, and had to get the PUK code. I dont know whether that could have affected it at all.
Any help on this problem would be greatly appreciated.
ThanksHey people i bought one of these nokia 6234 about 3 months ago and just recently i am experiencing the exact same bluetoothe problems as described here,anyway i tried turning the fone on and off a few times then the bluetoothe connected,but this didnt seem to work for long and it kept disconnecting,so i took it and all my bluetooth accessories to a vodafone shop twice and they told me that it has to be sent off to vodafone for maufactures warranty repairs which will probably take 2 months thats vodafone for you !! so i m not going to bother apparently vodafone thinks its internal software probably.

i have problem with my nokia n96, when i open nokia pc suite and go to software update show me 11.101 and only two applications are available: mail for exchange and nokia messaging. I do not see there download the software or something like that. Software is from 2008 i want to update this phone but i can't. I downloaded NSU but this can not install... Please HELP. I want in update polish language.

Go to Solution.Is your phone locked to any Network ? Availability of update depends on region / Product Code and also for locked devices an approval from the Operator is needed. In any case it seems quite a long time that the phone has this version. You may ask your local Nokia Care whether they can help updating the Firmware to the latest version ...

Nokia N96, Bluetooth, and voice-dialing....

I upgraded from my N80 to an N96 and, being a rep and frequently on the road, Im finding the voice-dialing to be a real PITA.
The N80 would work just about anywhere. Car, street, pub, shops, wherever, it understood who I wanted to call. Not perfect, but close.
The N96 doesnt even PRETEND to understand me, throwing up any name at random it seems.
Worse, it is all very haphazard to use.
You press the top right function button and hold it down. On the N96, you could hold it for a very long time before it responds. Since the processor in this phone is way underpowered, it a second or two before your hear the Speak Now confirmatory beeps.
Couple that with the problem that many Bluetooth headsets power-down momentarily, it means that when youre driving along in the car and hold the button down on your BT headset, you dont actually hear the beeps. So you have to look down at the phone to see what its doing. While driving, this can be dangerous.
Now, because you ARE driving, the N96 is not likely to understand you anyway.
Nokia!! You need to go back to the drawing board here!!
1) Fix the voice-dial activation - pressing the top-right button for two seconds is plenty.
2) Play the bleeps WHEN the Speak Now screen comes up, not before! My N96 can take anywhere between 1 and 5 seconds between the bleeps and the Speak Now screen appearing!
3) Play the bleeps a bit longer when the Bluetooth headset is activated. Most Bluetooth headsets take a second or two to wake up - the sound is over by then and you miss it.
4) Go back to the N80 and read the code for what you did in that phone. It worked fine there!

Nokia: Connecting People... with iPhones.Still here is no improvement with voice dialing with ver 12 soft and training sessions to n96.
It handles well with some names, but not with most. My old N95 did it much better from beginning (no training need!).
And extra case is with bluetooth HF - I stopped for waiting now for this stupid "beep" that is coming or before or after or in the middle the time, when voice detection screen is there. Now I just try to say the name about 2 sec after pressing BT button.
So, I hope some good Nokia engineer happens to read those voice dialing posts and in soft ver 13 we get better dialing (and finally somehow faster phone). Or do we, all who don't like extra slow processor should go in same day to service/operator and give in protest about the speed.. -
Nokia 6230i Bluetooth problem connecting HELP!!!
Hi, I have spent the best part of the day trying to establish whether my new nokia 6230i mobile phone that I received for xmas is faulty or is it something I am doing wrong. I just cannot seem to connect to my computer via the Bluetooth or infrared. I have been reading other peoples problems with the same thing on various websites and I thought rather than try and struggle anymore somebody here may be able to help!!! I downloaded to PC suite that came with the phone, and even downloaded a higher version (apparantly a newer one).But my phone just wont connect. which seems to be working fine but as soon as i tried to connect it just will not find my connection on my phone. Do i need to buy any other accessories before I can connect?? Although being Bluetooth I thought this was wireless?? Also any recommendations on how to use the infrared would be great to. Dawnie33If your Bluetooth solution is Bluesoleil, I would firstly update your Nokia PC Suite to latest version, 6.70.22 from www.nokia.com/pcsuite ( I don't recall by heart what was the level of BlueSoleil support in PC Suite 6.5, but it can be that your problem is partly related to BlueSoleil not being officially supported with that old version of PC Suite (6.5).
Then the next thing is to look around for intructions how you make sure that if you have Windows Xp SP 2 (which has microsoft own Bluetooth sw solution that easily "fights" with any other Bluetooth sw), how you make the Bluesoleil work in your PC flawlessly.
Google is good help for that, search for links like: "BlueSoleil sw problem in XP SP2" or similar and look for instruction how you make sure you only have BlueSoleil sw in active use. -
Nokia 5200 - bluetooth problem

I bought a Transcend 1GB microSD card for my Nokia 5200.
I was able to transfer approx. 600 MB of songs via Bluetooth from my laptop first time I tired. The Memory card shows nearly 400 MB free space but I am not able to transfer any more data.
The error I am facing is :
FTP error - possible error - folder is not empty or file/folder is read-only.
Any help is appreciated.

Rony.wow...sounds great..in order to solve the problem you had to BUY a cable... so in order to use WIRELESS services on Nokia 5200 through STANDARD bluetooth connection, we have to buy a CABLE (wasn't it WIRELESS??) and use a VENDOR-SPECIFIC software (wasn't it STANDARD???)... wow... Nokia really rocks, man! :-S
I'm writing this since I had exactly the problem you had... I had 125 files in the 1giga microSD for an amount of approx 725 mega occupied on the card, and I got exactly the same message.
I "solved" the problem deleting files and getting below the "threshold" of 125 files and uploading more files... really frustrating when you've to CHOOSE between the mp3 you'll be able to listen, even if you've paid for 1giga memory and still have 1/3 of the card free...hope some buddy of Nokia will read this... -
Nokia N96 Bluetooth A2DP Streaming via Pioneer Hea...
Hey , anybody know what's going on with the Bluetooth streaming, have the v12 update but when I play music in my car (which worked perfect with my n95) it jumps every 5 seconds or so , tried playing music from a memory card and internal memory but still no luck.
anybody else having any problems?? this was what clinched the n96 over the iphone and it's not working properly :-(

I have the Pioneer DEH-P75BT which as far as I am aware doesn't have an update option :-(
the funny thing is though it worked perfect with n95 latest software which makes me think it is the N96 software as ive read people having problems with headsets
it plays the music but jumps every 5 or 6 seconds. it's like going over bumps when playing a cd without anti shock
any other ideas??

First, I know N96 is an old phone, but I wanted it so bad, and i got one few months ago. I bough it with 20.050 firmware in it, and when i went check for updates (OTA) it said, and it always says no updates available. I checked the code behind the battery and its: 0543719, checked on the site says there is newer version firmware for my phone available. I tried updating with Nokia Software Updater, again latest version, but it shows error saying it can't identify my device. A friend of mine told me he updates via Ovi suite. I installed it and tried to update. It detected my phone, firmware and everything, it downloaded the latest firmware, but when i go to install, it shows that my usb is disconnected, and then connected again.. Is there any way i can update to the latest firmware? Can my phone die or get stuck on the oldest firmware if i do recovery? thanks.There are 3 ways to update the firmware for the N96 and they are
1. OTA (over the air) which is the preferred method.
2. Ovi Suite/Nokia Software Updater
3. Nokia Care Point.
There is always a risk of bricking the phone if the update fails. This will then definitely require a trip to the local Nokia Care Point.
Sometimes when I encounter problems with the updating process, I actually hard reset the phone using the *#7370# reset code before I update. This could rid the phone of any settings etc that may be causing the problem.
Remember to backup your phone before attempting anything.

when I try to setup the clokc on my n96 phone, it gives me system error!
I have tried to reset the phone but I don't know the lock code. I didn't setup one initialy when I have started it, and I don't know the default one.
any idea why my be the lock code or what might be the clock problem?There is clearly a software bug in the Clock App on the N96 Nokia (it doesn't matter which rev of the firmware you have). Nokia support won't give you a straight answer (most are NOT tech's, they're only telephone support staff using a fault-procedures list).
Once you get the 'System Error!" on the clock app it won't go away with either the soft reset or the so-called hard reset (which isn't a hard reset by the way). Other 'clock' apps work (calendar etc), but these don't set time (as ant_coe_ has said).
The issue seems to be related to the comms with the carrier - if, when you first set up your zone, the phone contacts the carrier to link up - the s/w must be setting a zone value that it irrational - say '-99999' once that's happened the app is f****.
So you need to reset the phone and get a *working* timezone, then all is well, clock stays working...
The important steps which do work are:-
1. do a soft reset (*#7370#) or the power reset (Star Green 3)
2. after the reset - at the first prompted to state your location (local timezone region).
The clock app then works and yo ucan set date and time. -

I Recently bought my beautiful Nokia6300.
From my previous phone (6310i)I have the Cark112 Bluetooth Carkit. But when I try to make a bluetooth phonecall with my 6300 through this carkit, my correspondent can understand me only for one minute, after that there's a lot of annoying noise and he cannot understand my clearly... so I have to stop the call. I tried to call with the 6310i again, and there was no problem, everything worked fine...
Does anyone knows where the problem could be? Is this carkit too old? Is the bluetooth in new phones different from the older 6310i phones? Maybe the problem is the nokia6300, I really would like to solve this annoying problem, cause I would like to call handsfree in a proper way..

thanxJust a note - I had same problem after an update but while I couldn't switch bluetooth on in the menu, I was able to go to the paired devices section and, after trying to connect to a device, bluetooth is activated.
In summary - don't use the bluetooth on/off - use the 'more devices' etc. menu. If you simply search for a new paired device or try to pair with an existing one the bluetooth should come on.
Not perfect - but I really don't want to try hard reset as my usb connection is broken also. -

Make sure your photos and emails are stored on the Mass memory, make the storage location to mass memory in the camera settings, clear web browser cache go to Web > clear privacy data >cache, install applications on to the mass memory .
