Nokia n96 memory problem

Hello, I need answer to one problem. My nokia N 96 says that phone memory is full. How I can delete some files from phone memory? I have in download folder 18 MB some files but I cant access to this folder. Please help me

Make sure your photos and emails are stored on the Mass memory, make the storage location to mass memory in the camera settings, clear web browser cache go to Web > clear privacy data >cache, install applications on to the mass memory .

    Here are a couple of examples
    * The phone becomes alot slower
    * When powering up the phone stops at a white blank screen until * I press the power button again.
    * When starting the music player all buttons associated with the music player(both on phone and handsfree) becomes unresponsive and the only way to stop the music is to remove the battery to turn off the phone.
    Another problem that occasionally occurs even if I have more free space on my memory card is:
    * When using the alarm clock there is a 33% chance that the phone will freeze when I turn it off. The only way to use the phone again is to remove the battery.
    I haven't updated the phone yet because the update isn't available yet in sweden it seems.

    This may be the issue, New content!:
    Scanning for new content (slowness in UI)
    - This is somewhat improved in 11.018 but still:
    - If you've loaded many Pictures, Videos or Music, you may see the device appear to slow down or even become unresponsive. After new content has been added, it is being scanned by the device and being added to the media applications. Until that happens, the new content may not be visible in these applications (e.g. Photos and Video Center application) right away. The phone will need to find the files and create the thumbnails and other details. This information creation takes time and the processing may slow down the device. Your best option is to open Video Center and Photos and leave open in the background then check after a few minutes if the videos and pictures you loaded are already there before using your device.
    The same applies if you insert a memory card with lots of content on it.
    - Do Not leave the Photos or video center in background during this time.

    i have problem with my nokia n96, when i open nokia pc suite and go to software update show me 11.101 and only two applications are available: mail for exchange and nokia messaging. I do not see there download the software or something like that. Software is from 2008 i want to update this phone but i can't. I downloaded NSU but this can not install... Please HELP. I want in update polish language.

    Is your phone locked to any Network ? Availability of update depends on region / Product Code and also for locked devices an approval from the Operator is needed. In any case it seems quite a long time that the phone has this version. You may ask your local Nokia Care whether they can help updating the Firmware to the latest version ...

  • Nokia 6280 memory problems

    I have just got my nokia 6280, im trying to send an mms and i get an error msg saying memory temporary full try again later...can't see why my memory would be full as i have only downloaded 1 song onto it, can anyone help me?

    My wife had a similar problem with her 6280 after downloading a tune from a pc to the phone and trying to take a photo. The only way we were able to sort the problem was to delete the song. After that, the camera was able to take photos

    Thank you for your posts and welcome to the forums!
    I assume that you both have tried hard reseting your devices, if not please see here for instructions (remember to back up your phone with Nokia Suite before this).  When restoring your data after the hard reset, make sure that you copy only the information you require, contacts and messages, for example. If you do a full restore the odds are that the phone will be filled up to the brim again. 
    This issue has been discussed before on the forums, so please see this thread for more information and additional tips and tricks.

  • Nokia N96 updating problems

    First, I know N96 is an old phone, but I wanted it so bad, and i got one few months ago. I bough it with 20.050 firmware in it, and when i went check for updates (OTA) it said, and it always says no updates available. I checked the code behind the battery and its: 0543719, checked on the site says there is newer version firmware for my phone available. I tried updating with Nokia Software Updater, again latest version, but it shows error saying it can't identify my device. A friend of mine told me he updates via Ovi suite. I installed it and tried to update. It detected my phone, firmware and everything, it downloaded the latest firmware, but when i go to install, it shows that my usb is disconnected, and then connected again..     Is there any way i can update to the latest firmware? Can my phone die or get stuck on the oldest firmware if i do recovery? thanks.

    There are 3 ways to update the firmware for the N96 and they are
    1. OTA (over the air) which is the preferred method.
    2. Ovi Suite/Nokia Software Updater
    3. Nokia Care Point.
    There is always a risk of bricking the phone if the update fails. This will then definitely require a trip to the local Nokia Care Point.
    Sometimes when I encounter problems with the updating process, I actually hard reset the phone using the *#7370# reset code before I update. This could rid the phone of any settings etc that may be causing the problem.
    Remember to backup your phone before attempting anything.

    when I try to setup the clokc on my n96 phone, it gives me system error!
    I have tried to reset the phone but I don't know the lock code. I didn't setup one initialy when I have started it, and I don't know the default one.
    any idea why my be the lock code or what might be the clock problem?

    There is clearly a software bug in the Clock App on the N96 Nokia (it doesn't matter which rev of the firmware you have). Nokia support won't give you a straight answer (most are NOT tech's, they're only telephone support staff using a fault-procedures list).
    Once you get the 'System Error!" on the clock app it won't go away with either the soft reset or the so-called hard reset (which isn't a hard reset by the way). Other 'clock' apps work (calendar etc), but these don't set time (as ant_coe_  has said).
    The issue seems to be related to the comms with the carrier - if, when you first set up your zone, the phone contacts the carrier to link up - the s/w must be setting a zone value that it irrational - say '-99999' once that's happened the app is f****.
    So you need to reset the phone and get a *working* timezone, then all is well, clock stays working...
    The important steps which do work are:-
    1. do a soft reset (*#7370#) or the power reset (Star Green 3)
    2. after the reset - at the first prompted to state your location (local timezone region).
    The clock app then works and yo ucan set date and time.

    Refuses the phone to change to romanian or do you simply miss the language now after you've updated?
    If the language is gone it's a case where the reseller you bought it from has added the language themselvs to the phone as it wasn't initially ment for your country ( they buy it cheaper from other countries). So when you now have updated, the phone has been updated with fw initially ment for your device, hence romanian added by the reseller is gone. You will have to visit a Nokia care point and ask if they can install the language pack which you need.
    If romanian is one of the choices in your lanugage selection but nothing happens when you select it, I would first pull out the battery from the device and wait 1 min before putting it back together. I would then boot it normally. Check again, if not, try to reinstall the update. If that does not work, try a hard reset. Beware that a hard reset will wipe the phone memory so I would make a back up of everything you need first before doing that. If it still doesn't want to execute your selection, please visit a Nokia care point.

  • Nokia n96 video problems.Need help please

    how do i go about putting videos on through pc suite but everytime i try, it starts converting and stops quatre way there.
    i tryed using another media converter all together now don't know what format or resolution the videos have to be converted to in order to work on my phone. the videos i have been trying to convert are .avi format.
    does anyone have any advice that can help me?

    PC suite is the wrong tool for this job as it's not very good at handling large files.

    Hi afzaaldurani97,
    For us to identify the cause of the issue, you can try the following troubleshooting steps:
    Have you tried to reboot the phone? Turn off the phone and remove the battery. After a few minutes, return the battery and switch on the phone.
    If the issue remains, you can restore factory settings on your device. This will not delete any personal data on the phone. 
    Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Factory settings> Enter the security code. The default code is 12345 unless otherwise changed.
    You can also check if there is an available update for your device using the Nokia Suite. If there is no available update, you can reinstall the software by clicking on the highlighted text "reinstall". For video tutorials, you can check this link: www.nokia.com/nokiasuite.
    If there is no progress after the above troubleshooting steps, you can reformat the phone. This will delete all data, so make sure to backup your files first. To reformat your phone, dial *#7370# on your phone dialer. After which, a security code will be asked to complete the process.
    In the event that the above steps did not resolve your concern, the best course of action is to bring the device to the repair facility for an assessment.

    How just now i discovered that, when i m sliding the phone to down(which change the screen orientation to rectangular view) the screen view is not chaning to rectangular view.

    In addition to what AdrianHughes has said, you can check these settings to set the phone to receive the call upon sliding the slider:
    Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Slide handling>Opening the slide>Answer incoming call

    Do you know if MAC address filtering is enabled? If it is then you have to add the MAC address of your phone to the list. Also change the channels setting on your router around to see if it works on another channel.
    After that you can also try the following:
    On your pc/laptop, click on Start>Run and type ipconfig/all and note the settings for:
    1. Subnet Mask
    2. Default Gateway
    3. DNS Servers
    Now, on your Phone settings: Goto Menu>tools>settings>connection>access points
    Select your WLAN access point and go to Advanced settings:
    IPv4 settings:
    For phone IP address: Start with the Default Gateway IP and change the last number to something else.
    For Subnet mask and Default gateway use the same as on PC
    For DNS address: Change to user defined and enter same settings as on PC

  • Nokia N96 bluetooth problem

    The phone does not detect other buetooth devices. When i click new paired device under the paired devices in the bluetooth section the phone displays the message " (no paired device)"
    The phone is visible by other devices and can pair with them, but it just does not detect and display other devices so i am unable to use my handsfree set.
    What could be the cause of this?

    Did you check the visibility status of the other device you are trying? does it set to visible? for example in your PC go to bluetooth settings and check "Allow other devices to find this computer" similarly blue tooth headsets are usually in hidden state, you should make it visible by looking at the headset manual. If your headset is with only one call/end key usually a long press (form off) will put it in visible mode (usually an active light (rather than a blinking light) is an indicator for visible mode) Let me know if it was a help.
