Nokia N97 Call Problem
This morning, whenever i make or receive a call, there is this unusual 'beep' sound.
How can I get rid of that?
Is it in the settings only?

What are your network settings are you on Dual, UMTS or GSM?
Maybe the warning tone for the phone putting packet data on hold.
Try changing your connection to UMTS, so your phone can handle voice and data at the same time

I have owned a Nokia 6500 slide on the 3 network for just over a year now, it's a decent phone and I've had very few problems with it until recently. The current problem is that when I make or receive a call, there is no audio/volume. Once the call begins to ring or I answer, and it's connected, there is no volume. However, if I change it to loudspeaker, it can be heard perfectly normally as if it were played through loudspeaker (obviously). So in short, the "handset" option of the call is muted. I have checked the obvious thing such as settings and makings sure the call volume was high enough, but there is just no sound at all when on the handset setting of a call. To make a personal call I have to make it in loudspeaker and everyone can hear.
I also had a problem wiht my contacts, and I downloaded the latest firmware and it fixed that problem. However, the loudspeaker call problem has remained. Usual searching hasn't sufficed, I appear to be the only one wiht this problem. Hopefully somebody can help me out here.

Everything was ok then yesterday something get wrong because when I want to connect write: web unable to perform operation.

Thank you for your first post and a big welcome to the Nokia discussion forums. And no need to apologise for your English its perfectly fine!
What I would suggest is to try the following:
Firstly remove the wireless connection from your phone and reset the router then try reconnecting. Also please clear all the cache from the web browser.
If this doesn't reset the phone by doing a soft reset by typing *#7780# (Please remember to back up your phone) and then try reconnecting.
If this doesn't work then please try a hard reset by typing *#7370# (Again please make sure you have backed up your phone!!).
Just to mention if your phone asks for a security code then the default code 12345.
Let me know if any of the above helps if not then please let me know and I shall endeavourer to think of some more potential troubleshooting we could try.

Hi, I own a Nokia N97.
I can't seem to connect my usb to my desktop. I've tried and tried, but my desktop doesn't sense it. My phone does. When I connect it to the computer, it gives me a choice of PC suite/Mass storage/Image Transfer/Media transfer. Which should I choose? I want to transfer my n97 images to my desktop. This probably happens because when you connect your phone with usb, you choose (or the phone automaticly chooses) the "Mass Storage" mode.
If that is correct then when you connect the phone to the pc , choose the "Pc Suite" mode and that might solve your problem.

I am very upset with my nokia n97, every since I updated the FW to version 12.0.026 my phone just keep freezing and the touch screen does not even work right. I can't even dial or answer my phone so **bleep** off. Anyone else have this issue ever since the update?
I cannot install the v20 as the version I have is the most current one everytime I tried to update to see if v20 is available. Also I did a hard reset and wiped it clean and reinstall the current version that I have and still no luck it still acts up and freeze the phone. I went back to using my E71 instead, if I do not see the v20 update within the next few days I will send my phone in to get it repaired.

i have nokia n97 if i tape w on keyboard is tape y and if i tape y is tape w. the keyboard is querty and language in the phone is french. any on help me please.
A French phone would normally have the French AZERTY keyboard instead of QWERTY, and judging by what you say Sabsy, your software is mapped for AZERTY even though you have a QWERTY keyboard (or perhaps you have an AZERTY keyboard and the software mapping is for QWERTY).
It sounds like there is an issue with the phone - it could be a factory error on a batch of phones, or it could be that the retailer has flashed a different software onto a phone from another country nto realising that this would have a serious impact on a device with a full keyboard - either way, take it back to the retailer and insist that the phone is put right or replaced. -

i am having problem with calling operations in my Honda Accord 2009. I paired the device correctly and successfully via bluetooth and also imported phone book, but when i try to call a name from address book, the system says: CALLING, but then nothing happens and the phone's Keyboard locks in that time and I have to try again manually.

Thank you for contacting us.The Nokia E75 has been tested and unfortunately is not compatible with your Honda Accord 2009.To guarantee an compatibility as high as possible we use only standardised Bluetooth protocols for our system.
Unfortunately some manufacturer use slightly modified protocols, which might cause the incompatibility.
Awesome now what can i do?
The phone is new, so clearly i am not going to buy a new one.
Is there any way to get it working, maybe some kind of tweak or something.

im new to this so sorry if this is in the wrong place and otherthings, anyway, i have a nokia 5800, which has been pretty much plain sailing apart from recently the speaker hasnt been working for calls. when i make calls i have to put it on loudspeaker, which as you can imagine is arkward to have everyone listening to your conversation. Sometimes it works, but more often than not i have to use loudspeaker. I have insurance but i was just wondering if there is any easier way to fix this?
Unfortunately I have to mention that also my 5800 is having this problem. Furthermore a collegue is experiencing the same.
So, it looks that there is a kind of weakness in the system. I sent the mobile phone back and they returned it just with a "software update". Obviously, after my first phone call, I found again that the speaker volume goes down during the conversation and I cannot hear anything...
Now, since this is the second problem after the break of the vibration, I'm disappointed... -
I have had a few problems.
The touchscreen doesn't respond, but the other buttons and the keyboard still work, and let me go through menus.
When I'm typing a message, and use "*" to change a word, it keeps coming up with the Symbol Menu, even though I'm not holding it down.
When I charge it, it stays on 2 bars, but if I turn it off and back on, it goes up to 6 bars.
What does this sound like?where do i start? within 4 months of takeing contract out, had phone repaired 4 times( 2 weeks a time and no courtesy phone offered) after 4th attempt to fix my long list of faults they still couldnt,so they replaced with a new(more than likely refurbed)(main problem was the keyboard pealed apart!!quality phone there!!, that played up 2nd day i had it.Could not be botherd with paying my bill and having no phone constantly and the phone not being able to be fixed so i gave up and put up with it. My common everyday faults include unlock phone 50% it will unlock rest will restart phone or crash(battery out) does not charge randomly and thinks it is being charged when unplugged, crashes on nokia start up screen, lack of signal,randomly screen does not recognise commands at all, crashes when alarm goes off,backlight randomly works,so slow once running more than 1 app, ovi store crashes every time i use it(which is why i have never actually got to download anything) buzzing noise from screen, messages dont always send,security module error after using settings? nokia can not fault or fix this???, purple lines across screen, random crashes on photos using memory card, Only reason why this phone is useable is because google has the 4 finger reset procedure, so many times it crashes and removing battery does not work needing the reset,u do loose all data but u can use the phone after, i could go on with more faults i had/have, but a life time nokia customer no more from me! 19 months of **** and nokia offer u £30 for the phone if u take out another contract? Insult to injury or what !!!

After updating to ver 11.0 i'm still facing problems ,espically when you attend a call,the unlock option will freeze & the screen wont respond,like the phone hung it self.
kindly adviceYes even I have been facing this issue. I use the lock feature and after a couple of calls the phone hangs after i disconnect from a call. I had to reboot the phone.
Fortunately I have found the reason for this. The applications actually do not close when you close them. They would also not appear in 'show open apps' menu. They still eat up the RAM. You need to close/kill them using SystemStatus. After closing all the apps the available memory reaches ~43MB as against ~12MB before.
You need to do this multiple times a day based on your usage. I do it 3-4 times. I have been using this for the past week without any issues.

thanksIs your phone locked to any Network ? Availability of update depends on region / Product Code and also for locked devices an approval from the Operator is needed. In any case it seems quite a long time that the phone has this version. You may ask your local Nokia Care whether they can help updating the Firmware to the latest version ...

Hello!Yesterday I have updated my phone software from V11 to v12.When the phone automatically restarted the phone came up with the message:Update completed but the next message was "No connection avaiable".At to moment the WLAN fuction has completely gone from my n97.When I go to connectivity option every setting option is missing and I should I have to set the access points again manualy.Any ideas???

Nokia n97 - connection problems
Hi there,
Last night my nokia went dead and after recharging it i wasnt able to use my email, facebook, youtube etc. I also cannot use web browser. It looks like if there was no connection despite i am connected. I cannot even open those application. I click on them and there is no response.

Many thanksNot knowing what network you are with, I can't advice you on that. Personally I would just ring the support line for your network and get them to email it to me straight away. Some networks also have settings download options on their websites to have4 the setting automatically sms'ed to your phone.
