Nokia N97 Mini:Substandard Phone Arrogant Customer...

I have been writing to Nokia at various forums for a long time now for the problem.
Let me state the order of my problem :
·         I have purchased a Nokia N97Mini which has been having problems from the first week of purchase.
·         I spoke to the customer care representative and I was told that despite spending Rs 25000/- Nokia cannot do anything about the sub standard phone. I would have to go to a Nokia Customer Care Center.
·         I have already been to a Nokia Care Center on 25th Jan 2010.My problem was temporarily solved and I was not given any Job Sheet Number.
·         The problem again resurfaced and I was advised by your team member Shabina Yasmin  to go and submit my phone to the Nokia Customer Care Center.
·         I went to the Nokia Customer Care Center on 29th Jan’2010.They reloaded the software and all data was lost. They did not give me a Job Sheet number although I asked for it repeatedly. Neither did they keep my mobile Phone with them. They said they have updated my Mobile Serial number in their records and the mobile phone would work fine now.
·         Now my phone still has a problem and keeps on hanging once I receive a call.
The Address of the Nokia Customer Care Center is :Saksham ServicesA-1/1,first floor,Acharya Niketan,Mayur Vihar Phase-I,New Delhi-91. The details of my Mobile Phone purchase are as follows:

·         ·         Software Version: v10.0.020
 Is there any alternative to get this sorted out because :  
I dont wana go to a Nokia Care Center every Second day.
I dont know what they are doing with the phone.
It is a substandard mobile phone and they wont replace it.
  Is exercising the Right to go to a Consumer Court my only option.     Kapil

First off, I must tell you that I am not a Nokia employee and this is a user-to-user forum.
I would advise you to contact the local Nokia head office, and report the conduct of the service center. Nokia does not run these service centers, and they are simply local companies who have bought the rights to represent Nokia as their authorized service centers in your country. You should therefore contact Nokia through the contact us button on your local homepage, and report the less than satisfactory service of their affiliate. Also ask them to refer you to another service center where you would receive better support, or to perhaps if possible handle your problem directly.

    The N97 is an old phone now, I'm guessing you've never formatted it?
    After lots of use, installing apps-uninstalling apps, browsing internet etc your phone gets clogged up.
    If you don't want to fully wipe your phone try clearing old text messages, internet cache, call logs and see if that helps.
    I would however recommend a format to "Spring Clean" your phone. Backup all your data using Nokia Suite and pictures, video's etc stored on the internal memory and then type *#7370# code 12345.
    This will wipe all data from the C: drive, contacts, messages, calendar entries etc. next restore your backup and re-install any missing apps.
    Hopefully you should see a massive difference in the speed of your phone after doing this and should also be able to install the app.

  • Nokia N97 mini firmware

    First of all I would like to excuse me for my bad English as I am from Latvia!
    Recently I have bought a new Nokia N97 mini. I have backed up everything and written down all the name of software that I afterwards uninstalled as I thought that it would be better for firmware update process. My goal was to update the phone to the newest firmware for my phone, however I got into problems with all the versions available.
    So this is the information on my mobile phone:
    Software version: v 11.0.102
    Software version date: 01-02-2010
    Custom version: 11.0.102.C01.01
    Custom version date: 01-02-2010
    Language set: 13
    Model: N97 mini
    Type: RM-555
    Latest update: Not updated
    >What I understand is that that some custom firmware version is installed there. I should mention that it is brand new and right out of box from Finland so I don`t think that anyone would have made custom version, installed it and repacked the phone.
    When I use Nokia Software Updater in my PC (MS Win 7) I got informed about that that the latest possible version is already installed.
    When I use Nokia web site using my telephone code written under the battery I got informed that latest available software for my device is: 10.0.020, however in phone there is version 11.0.102.C01.01 installed.
    When I was looking for the latest software release for Nokia N97 Mini it was 12.0.110, however there was mentioned that it is only for certain devices.
    So the question is if the latest firmware (12.0.110) version custom package is available for my device. If it is possible that there in my device there is a newer custom version (11.0.102.C01.01) installed than my Nokia N97 mini device support (10.0.020) than it should be possible that there is some newer custom firmware (12.0.110) available for my phone.

    So where can I obtain it? And speaking generally were (exact internet address of FTP or HTTP protocol handled server, with login information, if needed) all Nokia N97 mini firmware`s could be found? I would even try to install non-customized version 12.0.110 of it on my phone. Maybe I don`t even need any custom version and all Nokia N97 mini devices can handle any Nokia N97 mini firmware?

    I can clearly live without Latvian language and as it is well known that there is no special or no at all services or applications for Latvia region that I could miss. I would better use United Kingdom apps and turn off some really unnecessary services or news.
    I would`t reply if there were nothing at all from Latvia in phone. I just need to get it work faster and with less problems form software side. I could use any Nokia N97 mini update version that doesn`t have "Comes with music" services and apps as I don`t have license to it.

  • How Can I Re-Install Software on Nokia N97 Mini??

    HELLO!
    My brother bought a Nokia N97 Mini.
    I guess it has a custom firmware, because it doesn't have the option for Software Update and when I connect it to the computer, it doesn't have the option for selecting "PC Suite" (Only gives me USB and CAM) so I haven't been able to update it or re-install it using the NSU.
    Is there a way I can RE-FLASH the FW with the original Nokia Software or fix it in another way?

    Dialling *#06# should give you the IMEI number of the phone. Check the Imei number at this page: http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr
    I cannot guarantee that the page is 100% correct, but it has never failed me checking the IMEI number.
    Don't post the IMEI here at this forum, but what does the site tell you about the device?
    E.g. I just checked my HTC desire for fun now, and the site tells me that the IME number entered belongs to a HTC desire A8181 which is correct.
    The site should tell you that you have a Nokia n97 mini and maybe some more info.

    Anyway, if it's a real Nokia but someone has managed to install a custom fw which is not (seems obviously to me) from a operator, the device is not under warranty.

  • Nokia N97 Mini - Network coverage disappeared

    My Nokia N97 Mini, about 1 year old, suddenly decided it did not want to get any reception at all. I have travelled via train to different places for work and such and noticed it still was not getting reception. I have also tried restarting the phone, trying my sisters sim card and none of this seemed to work. It is getting quite frustrating, so, hopefully you can help me!?

    Hello stockobmx, check the network settings in your phone see whether its automatic or manual. If its manual then set it to automatic. Try and reply.

    I would really like nokia to introduce a document editor for the nokia n97 mini,since that phone has a good keyboard and the features are good,the document editor will complete the phone and it would surely be the complete multipurpose phone.

    Hi, I bought a Nokia N97 Mini in January, and I still can't resolve this problem: I don't know how to add a contact detail to the body of any text message. I have had several Nokia phones, for years, and I remember that if you wanted to send a text message, lets say to a friend and this friend asked you for someone else's phone number in order to send it you just start a new message> insert content> contact detail, then you just chose the contact you'd like to send the phone number of and that's it. Now, I can't figure out how to do it with my new phone. Sorry if I sound silly, it's just that I don't know where else to look for. Thnx!

    I beleive you are using MS Outlook.
    Try the following workaround.
    Manual sync
    Open Nokia Ovi Suite--> Sync--> Sync option--> Uncheck the sync automatically everytime you connect the device.
    Then Sync--> Sync now--> Contact,
    Repair the "pst" and the "ost" Outlook files as in the following location.
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANPST.EXE
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\SCANOST.EXE
    Right click the above mentioned exe file and 'Run' it.
    NOTE 
    It's adviced to take a back- up of the user's Outlook folders to avoid any loss of information.
    Check with Microsoft support pages for more information.

  • Nokia N97 mini showing me the wrong time when mess...

    All the time stamps for my text messages on the N97mini are wrong, it show the time as the I get it on my phone not the actual time the text was sent.
    Let say i have set the time of my phone 2:00pm but when i recieve message it shows me the time which the senders network have and dont shows the time which is set on my cell.
    That wasn't the case with the N96 and the N95, E51, E75. Is there a way to fix this?
    I have changed the  time settings on the menu,
    II have  switch off the Automatic time update, reset the time zone, then set the actual time.
    Also already updated the latest firmware for nokia n97 mini.
    Im very much worried about it.

    I have a problem, my Nokia n97 mini was stolen, and when i found it my "lock code" was chandged. . .i used "hard reset" bud my phone dosent work at code 12345 or 0000. . .how can I ever found out witch is the code after "hard reset" ? O.o

    As per your post, hard reset does not work because the code was changed. If that is the case, we can suggest you to do the Key Combination Reset for your phone. You can do this by:
    1. Opening the slide of your phone 
    On the keyboard, press simultaneously Shift (left) + Space + Backspace and press the Power button
    If the hard reset is successful, the device is reset to factory settings and boots up prompting for the country, date and time settings. However, if this will not work successfully on your phone, the best option that we can do is to bring the phone to the nearest Nokia Care Center within your place for the to be reset to its original setting by our authorized technicians.

    I understand you correct if it stops booting before you reach the homescreen?
    Do you have a memorycard? - You should pull that out and make sure that the memory card isn't causing the issue?
    Could it be any apps you have installed?
    What FW are you on?
    There are lots of things you can do to try to sort this out.
    What I would do is to get it updated if possible, if you cannot or are on the latest one and have no clue, do a soft reset and a format of the memorycard and mass storage and rebuild the phone. First with your contacts, messages, music etc, and then with apps. Monitor carefaully how the phone behaves after 3rd party apps you install. - In that way you will have better chances of knowing what may cause problems in the future, and there wont likely be necessary to soft or hard reset it again.
    Note that you will have to back up your content before you perform a soft or hard reset as this will wipe your phone memory, same with a format of the memorycard or the mass storage.
    If you cannot get the phone on at all, try removing the battery for at least 5 min before putting it back together and try turning it on. - You could also try removing the memcard if you have one.
    Do you know how to check for fw updates?

    Is there a way to restrict Nokia N97 mini with parental controls to download unsafe applications (18+ apps)? I just want to restrict my son from downloading such apps? Thanks.

    Whay don't you just press the button Power from the top of the phone and go there and select "Lock phone" (you must know the security code of the phone) and every time someone is triing to acces your phone it will ask for the lock phone.Is very simple and you dont have to install anithing

    I just recently bought a nokia n97 mini and when i put my two sim cards in the phone it says that sim 1 is offline and sim 2 to says invalid. Can someone please tell me how to fix this?

    Its surely not a NOKIA product..
    I know atleast about my region (India) where the phones are sold with SAME physical looks and the Model no. but it is not sold as NOKIA ... e.g. Best Smartphone 5800 ...and the features like Dual SIM, 2.8" Screen, Unique IMEI,  and so on..
    so seems to be one of these..

    Hey, I recently got my Nokia N97 Mini, And im just wondering if its possible to disable the Camera Shutter noise whenever your taking a picture, And is it possible to turn off the Red Light when recording? 
    Its annoying when im trying to record something, Sometimes it will reflect off surfaces.. Also the Camera Shutter noise is annoying.. Interrupts silence when i want to take pictures , At special events.. 
    Is there a way to Disable these 2 things? Thanks!
