Nokia N97 RSS Feeds

Hi peeps!
how do you go about getting RSS feeds??
i've tried getting them like the Gadget Show website feed from the UK and can't get it on mobile...

HI
Try using the web browser to select the page and then go into the web settings ( where you save a site etc.)
At the bottom of this you will see an icon to subsc. feeds
Hopefully this helps

  • Nokia X6 RSS feeds error

When I want to enter RSS feeds on Nokia X6, it pops up unknown error. The RSS feeds on the contacts bars stopped responding when I want to add or remove contacts RSS feeds. I really hate this type of stupid Symbian phone, too many bugs! I'm planning to move to Android soon.

The most common "fix" so far has been to uninstall Fring - do you have that installed ?

  • Nokia n97 web feeds not working even after v12

It just says to me that the feed is invalid. Is there a workaround? The feeds worked a month ago or so, but some update has broken them.I'd rather not do a hard reset at this point again.

Have been experiencing problems with the web feeds (used to work without any probs) and hoped that the new firmware update (V2.1) would fix things. I'm getting "Unable to open feed" messages.
Tried deleting and re-entering the old feeds from the PC, then N97, but still same problem.
Checked Web Feeds in Settings and it's set properly to my T-mo Internet access point.
Anything you think I should check? I really don't want to do another hard reset, but at a last resort, I will.
    Thanks, all!

  • N97 Browsing from Rss feed

Hi all, first post on here. I decided (for some mad reason) last month to get a N97 rather than a iphone...I think I was going to miss a good camera, and I thought it was too much. Anyway I have a good few issues with the thing, one being If I click on a link from a RSS feed that opens the (slow) browser, If I then want to contining browsing...a: The bookmarks are disable in Options and b: links don't work within webpages. If I close the browser and close the RSS then open the browser seperatly all is fine.
Has anyone else got he same problem?
    Thanks Darren

    Danish,
I was wondering if you could share your solution? I am trying to do something similar and haven't been able to successfully get the data imported the way I want.
I've created a standard RSS feed, but that format really doesn't seem to be conducive to communicating data rows.
    Thanks,

  • How to get an RSS feed into the phone using Nokia ...

Is it possible to get an RSS feed into the phone using the Nokia PC Suite? RSS is mentioned in several places in the help files, but I can't find a place that describes how to set it up.

just as they said in the help:
"On the Bookmarks section, you can define bookmark and RSS feed synchronisation details. Bookmarks and RSS feeds can be synchronised between a Nokia mobile phone and a supported web browser. Note that bookmark and RSS feed synchronisation is not available for all phone models. "
What's the law of the jungle?

  • Nokia N8 Contact RSS Feeds

Could someone tell me if the N8 Contacts include
RSS Feeds for the Contact, i.e., Facebook... etc. like the X6?
Link to the Conversation for the selected Contact?
Anyone have an image of the N8 Contact View?

i managed to get it working, ended up connecting to the internet all the time, and not disconnecting afterwards but... here's how i did it
i firstly subscribed to my own & friends rss feed on facebook through firefox, it automatically puts the feed links in the bookmarks toolbar.
secondly, in ovi suite, i enabled the bookmarks and webfeeds, and then, updated by going into sync and then choose bookmarks and webfeeds.
it created a new folder in my firefox bookmarks > copied the rss feeds into that folder, and re-synced again..
then added the new feeds to my own and my friends contact card thing on the home screen... by going into the contact card, rss feeds>accept> select the relivant feed...
    IT WORKS!
hope this helps, took me ages to do it, but, it works like a charm....

    Hi InvinsibleSach,
    Try this.
On this message thread first do the following:
Topic Options (just above your first post)
Subscribe to This Topic's RSS Feed
That will open a new window.
Take note of the URL in that new address bar.
    (/discussions/rss/message?board.id=maemo&message.id=14252)
    Now on your N900:
    Menu
    RSS
+ symbol at bottom left of screen
Type the address you noted before into the text field.
    (/discussions/rss/message?board.id=maemo&message.id=14252)
    Done
    I hope this helps.
My posts are my opinion and in no way the direct views of Nokia.

  • N97 RSS update issues since upgrading to v21

Hi Since upgrading to the V21 firmware on my N97, if the phone powers off for any reason, my RSS feeds default to not automatically updating. I have to go to each feed and reset the update schedule each time I run out of battery or change to my backup battery. Im using the built in RSS reader that you configure through the "Web" browser application. I am using this to display 3 feeds as widgets on the home screen. has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions.

    I have found a workaround:
The problem with RSS feeds disabling their auto-update setting only happens when you switch off the phone using the power button.  If you power down by dropping out the battery the auto-update settings stay enabled.

  • Rss feeds on home screen

I belatedly have been able to update to belle here in Australia since last week, and I have now lost the ability of updated rss feeds on the home screen. In the nokia conversations article 'Nokia Belle: Six ways to use six screens' from the 12/04/2012 it clearly shows on the second screen example an enourmous orange and white rss feed widget. Why can't I find it on my phone?! Also when I press the store button in the add widget or add short cut screen it tells me that that page is not available and to try again. Will there ever be some more widgets to fill the home screens up with? I probably should wait for the ones that have been on anna that are not on belle to be replaced first!

  • N97 RSS automatic updates

    Hi,
I'm using only WiFi to connect my N97 to the internet. I've set both my home and work access points in the Internet connections.
I've set up an RSS feed in the phone's browser, and I want it to automatically update.
The problem is that I have to choose one specific Internet access point, and if I'm not near that access point - it won't use the other one to update.
Is there a way to make the RSS auto-update use any available Internet access points? (just like the email auto updates...)
    Thanks in advance,
    Guy

go to the browser then the web feeds press options then edit . you can set the auto update there
all those kudos you've got don't make you god

  • RSS Feed Widgets

Would love to see a Widget you could put an RSS Feed into and customize picture sizes fonts ect..  I used to use a platform called KickApps before it was bought out and I loved that.  Even had Audio and Video payers that you could customize and the content was through a feed.
    Thanks!

The new widgets stink if you ask me :-( On Anna I had the combined clock/profile/calender widget that took less space that the new clock widget AND had shortcuts to clock, profiles and calender AND adapted to theme color. On Anna the calender widget showed several appointments. The new Belle variant show ONE appointment and is WHITE (nice on a dark theme ehhh) and takes up just a much space. On Anna the e-mail widgets showed several mail in one widget slot. On Belle they show the same but take 3 time the space AND they are BLUE and WHITE and does not follow theme colors (nice for dark themes and for battery saving - not). On Anna I had room for clock/profile, calender 3 e-mail widgets and shortcuts on the same startscreen. Now just 2 e-mail widgets takes a shole screen (and does not show more). I have managed to save some space with the "ComingNext" calendar-widget (http://comingnext.sourceforge.net/) but still I have to use a extra startscreen for the mail. And I don't like that. Now I can't see my mails on the main screen - but must swipe to another. I general I think many things take more "click" on Belle than on "Anna" :-( Wish I hadn't updated :-( Is there a way to go back to "Anna"?

  • Contact bar RSS feed

    Hello,
Till date its been a nice experience using Nokia 5230 thanks to this site which has helped me alot. Still i have a query about the RSS feed options available in contact bar (at the Homescreen) I am not able to search even in google how to use that particular option, can anyone out there PLEASE help me out with this.
Please provide me with detail info on that if possible.
    Thanking you in anticipation.
    Regards.
    Vatsal

    Hi dwarf2008,
First of all you need to subscribe to a web feed. Contact bar web feeds can be found from contacts in the contact bar. Select a Contact > Web feeds. If you don't have web feeds yet, select Options > New feed > Give the necessary info > Options > Save.
Hope this cleared the matter but please ask if you have more questions.

  • Rss feed sync

The user Guide for the PC Suite v6.85 indicates that RSS feeds can be synchronised between phone & pc, I have a 6120 classic which has RSS feeds included in the browser and my PC uses Vista Home Premium Internet explorer 7 which also has a RSS feed reader built in. So question is how does this feature work? It mentions supported phones/browsers but cannot find this supported list anywhere on the Nokia site. Has anybody used this feature and what phone/pc os/browser did it work on?
"You can also synchronise bookmarks and RSS feeds between a Nokia mobile phone and a supported web browser..."

Just to avoid confusion, I posted the same question in the Safari-section, as I am not sure if it is a Safari problem or a problem with iCloud.

  • Nokia 5800 RSS Reader broken "unknown error"

My Nokia 5800 RSS Reader spontaneously died. Getting "unknown error".
Anyone know how to fix this? Will any new firmware fix it? Any free apps?
The RSS Reader on the phone isn't bad imo and i had over 10 feeds in there. I'm having to use Opera Mini rss feed is usable but that browser is so fragile!
    (I have v2.1 fw)
Much discussion about this here but no solution: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/forum/showthread.php?p=425392
Appreciate my posts? - gimme some kudos and click teh star!

I have had the same problem on my nokia 5800, everything worked great for about 1 month since I bought the phone and then out of nowhere the feeds got corrupted when I was doing a refresh all I think. It is 100% a software database or broken file issue.  I tried searching for bookmark database in system folders and files and others using y-browser to see if I can erase them manually but wasn't able to find any file that would indicate it is a bookmark database or whatever. Maybe someone who knows s60 ins and outs has an idea where do these bookmarks live.
On the other hand I remembered I had done a full back up of my phone beforehand using PC suite (Ovi Suite same thing in a different package) . So I just restored the bookmarks to my phone and vioala. The feeds work again, because the whole bookmark database got overwritten. No hard reset required.
If you already have the error and no back up then  it is a problem. You would have to trick the nokia restore software to do the restore with a blank file. You will have to dig around and find out how to do it. Perhaps do a back up for the broken bookmarkrs, find the file, then either replace with a blank or edit it such that it looks like blank. Alternatively, have someone who has a uncorrupted bookmark back up, send you the file and you can restore that one.
    Hope this helps!Good Luck!
