    1) authorize iTunes on your wife's user account for her iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect the device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred her purchases in the previous step, your content will be in her library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

  • N97 says update for v12 available but cannot downl...

hopefully someone can help, checked sw update on phone and finally says v12 is available but need to update via pc? loaded sw update on pc connected phone, searched for updates on pc and says everything up to date, i have also checked on nokia what the latest firmware for my n97 code (0585162) it also says v12 is there another way to update the phone?

The majority of UK users managed to update through FOTA, I wasn't able to so had to use the Nokia software on my PC.  Strangely, it said it was installing 12.0.026 but when the phone rebooted, I was told it had installed 12.0.024.  NSU now states I am up-to-date, FOTA says no update available, but Ovi Suite 2 says I need to update to 12.0.026.  When I try to update, it fails to install for some reason.
Make sure you've tried Nokia Ovi Suite 2 as well as Nokia Software Updater and FOTA.  The upgrade path to v12.x for the UK has been a bit of a bumpy ride I'm afraid but Nokia have stated that v20 will be a much better experience for us.

  • Nokia N97 - Issues with updater

I updated my N97 with the latest firmware update (had to use old PC Suite as Ovi Suite would not find my phone!!).  I then pressed the update function on the phone to see what other updates were there.  I found this wonderful new program that reorganises your files and sorts out any memory issues on the phone memory! Great? NO!!!! Due to the fact Nokia failed to highlight CLEARLY that you should not download this before the new Ovi Maps version 3.03, I now cannot download Ovi maps or indeed, any other nokia software update as i now get a message telling me I have not got enough memory!!!  Help someone!  I have reinstalled the new firmware but the phone remains in the same state.  I fear I may have to go all the way back through my factory settings to put this right.  A poor show from Nokia I have to say. Help someone ...please

Can you not uninstall this app via PC Suite  applications manager .
Or via  settings  organize  remove on the phone .

Hello I still can't update my phone to  V12.0.026

If your phone is a Branded Vodafone N97 you will have to wait till Vodafone approve it. Its the same with any network branded phone .
Heres a example Orange dont sell N97 branded as there firmware wouldnt work on it. Networks remove what they dont want from the firmware and put there stuff on and wont release it till it works correctly.
And often, if they can't get their own lousy software to work, they'll stick it on the handset anyway and mess the whole thing up for you.  That's why I no longer use branded handsets.  I am amazed at the performance improvements and increased stability on unbranded handsets and I certainly don't miss any of the branding!

    Hello Macho,
I had the same exact problem a while back.  If you have already downloaded and installed the Nokia Messaging software on your device, perform the following steps to resolve your issue (these instructions were derived from the Nokia knowledge base):
On a computer, go to: http://email.nokia.com.
    Select Log in.
Enter in your Username and password.
    Select Log in.
    Select INSTALL NOW.
Type in your country code and your phone number.
    Select your device.
    Select Next.
Open up the provisioning SMS message on your Nokia device and proceed forward with the account set up process.

  • Nokia N97 Updating Problem!

I'm having trouble updating from v11 to v12. It says I have the update already but everytime I try to update it just says it disconnects and it doesn't update at all. It keeps telling me it failed and I don't understand what's wrong -_-

Try using the new Beta Labs software updater. You can download it here
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-software-updater/download_and_installation
Worked fine for me, Ovi Suite was always giving me the Error Code 12017.

  • HT4972 Did I just lose everything on my IPAD for the last year because it said to update it, not giving an option to back it up first? Its updating with ITunes now but under the RESTORE option.  There was no way out of this.

My IPAD2 had a pop up message that an update is available, to close or click on details, so I clicked on details. It took me to an upgrade box, no back up options. I clicked to upgrade it.  It downloaded for awhile, then turned off, and when it turned back on, it directed me to plug into my ITUNES with the USB adapter, which I did.  When ITunes came up, it said I had to restore it before I could use ITUnes.  Again, no other options.  I am worried that I just lost everything on my IPAD2 for the last year, apps, photos, documents, settings, email, etc.  It is still downloading after 30 minutes.  Is everything gone and truly back to factory settings?  If so there was no warning for this at all, I'll never get everything back.

I'm not sure what happned either but If you are doing this via iTunes, iTunes should have backed up the iPad first. It can take a good bit of time when you update with iTunes on your computer because iTunes downloads and installs the entire iOS all over again. If you are running iOS 5 on the iPad, and you will be now, you can update OTA via WiFi in the future and the process takes far less time since you will only be downloading an incremental update.
If you are syncing on a regular basis with iTunes, you should have a recent backup. In the worst case scenario, you should be able to restore from the backup. And as stated aboce, you can download all apps again and virtually all purchased content from iTunes (if you live in the U.S.) and you can always sync your iTunes library back to the iPad.
Let the update finish and see where you are then. Come back if you need help.

  • Nokia n97 update

Hello, do you know if is there any update for nokia n97? Or had us written off nokia?

This question has been asked and answered many times before.
The chances of the original N97 seeing another update are pretty much slim to none. It's been ignored more than once whilst other cheaper models have seen updates. The way the N97 was treated certainly wasn't Nokia's finest moment.

  • N97 update to V12 - not available even now

When I was abroad this weekend I got notice that V12 was available to me. Naturally, I didn't do the FOTA update but waited until back home and connected to my PC. NSU now tells me that no updates are available! I have an unbranded N97, product code 0585162, and from the many other posts on this forum I gather that V12 should be available to me.
I used NSU to update from v10 to v11 with no problems.
    Any thoughts?
    Chris

Is it just me or is Nokia and Vodafone's role in all of this very poor? There are bugs galore on the N97, they don't acknowledge any of them, they plan to release new FW so there obviously are issues, they release the software, let people waste valuable time trying to download when there is clearly an issue with the upgrade process (server loading or whatever it does n't matter), they take down the FW upgrade but again don't tell anyone so we all waste more time. And during all of this they don't have the common decency towards their customers to at least post any sort of information either on here or Vodafone's support forums.
Nokia and Vodafone are rapidly turning in to the sort of company I no longer want to give my business to.

  • Nokia E71 problem with New Firmware 410.21.010

I have updated my Nokia E71 (RM-346) to new firmware 410.21.010. It creating a problem with battery that drain out quickly. Before update, for normal use, I need to charge once a week. But after upgrade new firmware 410.21.010. It finishes in 24 hour for normal use. I have read article that I can not downgrade, just only to wait for next firmware. Have some one any solution?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had a Nokia E71 running very happily on version 3 firmware. I updated the firnware to 410.21.010.
It worked fine until I switched the phone off and tried to re-start the phone. It stopped working.
It is my work phone. The messaage on the phone said take it back to my retailer. He tried to get it fixed but because Nokia say it is out of warranty I am out of a phone that is set up to use the Oki system.
It worked perfectly well until the software update.
It is now at my retailer waiting for me to collect.
    This is very disappointing.
Especially as I am now considering not using a Nokia telephone ever again. Moreover, I am sure that Fair Trading would consider this matter very strange and might like ot investigate it further.
I want my E71 fixed for free by Nokia as it was working without any malfunctions until the firmware update - which was done after receiving notification from Nokia. I have not been able to use the Oki system for some weeks now and would like to contiue using Nokia. Otherwise I guess Nokia lose another customer to iPhone or HTC or Samsung. I await anyone's advice on this matter.

  • Nokia n97 problem with adding last widget

    Hi all,
After updating my software to v 21.0.045 i found my phone is working better than before with one exception. I can't add the last widget on the main screen. It can only let me change wallpaper?!?
I tried to reset using phone, using code, restarting a few times etc Nothing helped.
I even sent a message to Nokia helpline explaining all what has happened and they send me a silly email back with simple ""use "add content" in order to add widget to your mainscreen ""
Somebody help! If you know how to add the last widget please let me know.
Ps 1. I didn't have this problem with my old software
Ps 2. I attached a photo to prove it

If you do it , do another soft reset , back up Contacts, Calendar and Notes ONLY (your settings can cause conflict between new and old software, which is why this is advisable) Dial *#7370# followed by 12345, then set up your phone again manually, a bit of work, but should get the phone working like new !
    Good Luck

  • Nokia Software Updater with 5800XM problems. 11.0....

    What's happening:
Updater detects phone and firmware, update available, downloads it and starts patching, phone shuts down and lots of disconnect, connect USB device sounds comes in windows, perfectly normal for this I guess.
Phone starts up again after a minute or two still same old firmware present, asks for USB mode, selecting PC Suite fast.
Updater sits saying its only 11 minutes left or something, started at 15 before phone rebooted.
Updater keeps running nothing happening time doesnt countdown progress bar dont move a pixel, 10 minutes later the program pop up that it lost connection with the phone.
Here I got a few alternatives, it tells me to remove battery, charger and USB-cable and reconnect it in right order. Does that, hit retry, find my self at progress bar again a few minutes cut off.
Still nothing will happen at all no progress or time changing bar still stuck at 20% done where it started.
About 30 minutes later the phone starts behaving like at start of the update again, it all of sudden reboots and the unplug/plugin USB sounds starts to spam.
From here on its all repeat, phone start up, select PC Suite connection, updater cuts off a few minutes, wait 5-10min it says it lost connection.
Interesting part is it doesnt matter if I select retry or cancel it goes back to updater and stays there again for 30 minutes and tried to update phone again whatever I take, it actualy even does it if I doesnt even take anything and remain at the retry/cancel connection error screen it will reboot the phone 30 minutes later and repeat that thing.
    Things I tried:
    • Removing phone momory card, reset factory settings.
    • Reinstalled updater on PC(several times)
    • Connected phone to different USB ports on my PC(front panel, back panel, etc)
None of these things helped ofc same things keep happening, else I wouldent even post here. Im just lost of ideas now.
    Help, please.

hi guys.. i would suggest on using FOTA, which means update directly from ur 5800xm using WIFI. this is safer compare to NSU. because v20's firmware file size is about 130MB, if ur NSU connection is not good enough, then it probably may lost connection while ur r halfway downloading. as i have experienced this more than 30 times when i update mine. but using FOTA is different, because it only downloads what is needed to be updated instead of the whole firmware both old and new. 1 more thing, if u use NSU but not connecting ur cable properly, it may cause severe damage to ur hp halfway installing when the cable disconnected from ur hp. another risk... FOTA do this directly on ur hp, no need wires... after downloading then oni it start installing, dun have to care about any risk at all.

  • Itunes is update with 9.1 but keeps wanting to update

I have 9.1 installed, but everytime itunes opens it says it asks if I want to download and update. How do I get itunes to recognize it is up to date

You said you have 9.1, the latest version of iTunes is now currently 9.1.1.
By 9.1 did you mean 9.1.1, or do you actually have 9.1.
If you have 9.1, there is a newer version available to upgrade to.
