Nokia "Original" RS DV MMC cards

I've got a Nokia E60 and uptil now I've had a 256MB Yama or something like that RS MMC card for the phone, which was working great, it was fast in read/write operations. Not long ago I purchased one from Nokia, the so called "Original Nokia". Well I have to say that I'm very dissapointed by the write times for this card (and I have to say that it's not the first time I have an Original Nokia MMC Card. Writing operations take 3-4 times as long as on the 256MB one. What gives? Does anybody have a solution for this strange problem? I've already tried to format this in my phone but the result is the same

thx guys for your replies.
I bought one , a very known mark but doesnt work.!
It is MMCmobile (DV-RS-MMC comp with 6630)
I put it at my laptop and works fine.
When i put it at my mobile doens make any sound(when i close the 'tray') and doesnt recognize the card( NO M.card installed ).
I try it at 6630 and N70 both.
And the mobiles are working already with some others m.card.
But the cards works at my laptop!
I have formatted with FAT but still nothing
Any suggestion ?

  • Need an MMC Card

I need an MMC 512 MB card for my Nokia 6230i.
I am finding it hard to get one. The ones I have sent me all seem to have two rows of contacts on them and don't work so have had to return them. The card supplied only has one. So my question is where can I get one please?

MMC cards are becoming rare because there are newer, better systems on more recent phones. I think the Nokia MU-12 card was compatible, but it may need an MMC adapter too - it's a long time since I dealt with a 6230i so you might need to check your user guide.

  • Problem with new mmc card

Hi. i hope someone can help me. Just bought on contact a nokia 6630. Its very good. Decided to but a rs mmc card of 512 mb for more data storage. Problem is the phone doesnt see it. Any ideas on what i need to do. Thanks Andy

Just an "MMC for mobiles" is not enough. It must be labeled exactly (letter-for-letter): "MMCmobile" (or "DV RS-MMC"). Other types of cards do not work.
If it is of correct type, then check that you put it in the card slot the right way (the card's connector surfaces upwards) and far enough (to "click" in place).
If even those don't help, check that the phone's "Memory" app sees the card and lets you format it (in case it for some strange reason or another wasn't formatted).
If that's not enough, then you have either a broken card or a broken phone.

  • Problem Reading MMC Card

    Nokia 9300i

    MMC+ Card - MobyMemory 1GB
The memory card has worked perfectly on both phones until recently. Both phones no longer recognise the card and all the Memory Card drop down menus are now inactive. However, when the card is plugged into a USB2 Card Reader in my computer, the card can be read perfectly. I reformatted the card on the computer (using FAT and not FAT32) but the phones still refuse to recognise the card is there.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem is greatly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    DB

I've had this problem when I've not inserted card correctly - but seems odd in your case if it doesn't work on either.
Have you tried restarting both phones (eg remove batteries?

  • MMC CARD PASSWORD LOST

I had my phone replaced yesterday. now when i place my old memmory card in the new phone it is asking for a password access code. i have tried the phone pin code and security code, however they are incorrect. my mmc card has my sat. nav. and i am desperately trying to sort this out. can anyone help on this. thanks a lot.

A password on a memory card is used to prevent the use of the card in another phone (in case you loose it, or it gets stolen). If you set it, you should also remove it on the original phone (with the same password that was used you set it), before using the card in a new (another) phone.
If you've lost or forgotten the password, then there is no easy way to recover any data from the card (if it was easy, there wouldn't be much point in a password feature like that in the first place, would there?).
It might be possible to reformat the card in some other device (most devices won't do/allow it, if the password has been set and is not supplied), but reformatting the card will also cause all data to be lost.
A data recovery service (such as Ibas might get the data for you, but the cost for using such a service will probably far exceed the price of the card and the phone (you can probably get many new cards and phones with that money).Message Edited by petrib on 01-Dec-2005

  • Satellie A100: How to use MMC card in card reader

    Hi everybody,
first of all I have a Toshiba Satellie A100 Notebook.
And now my question: at the front of the (closed) Notebook, there is card reader slot, right next to microphone and volume, etc.
I have a MMC card of my mobile phone, but it doesn't fit in becuse the slot I much to big. Do i need an adapter? I'm afraid, that i won't get it out anymore afterwards!
    Can somebody help me please?!
    Thanks!
    grettings, thomas87

No, i don't mean the express-card-slot on the left side of the notebook.
sorry, it is a satellie A100-773.
I have already looked into the manuals and there is a cardreader SD/MMC/...
under the slot there are also symbols of different mediacards!
so it does really exist! =)
but how to use it? it's such a big slot, and the mmc is rather small. so how should i put in the mmc? more left, or right or in the middle...you know what i mean? or do i need an adapter?
    thanks, thomas87

Hi, please help me why i can not use my 'Infineon 64 mb MMC Card' on my pccam 850? i have never use mmc card before, and this is the first time, but everytime i insert my mmc card then turn the camera on, i get only hear camera startup and the light on, but blank on the lcd screen and i cannot use any button (the camera hang/freeze), the only way to turn the camera off is to open the battery. FYI, the MMC card is ok (i'm sure with that),but if i'm not using any MMC card, the camera works fine (with built in 16 Mb memory). Please help me.

  • Oracle lite in SD/MMC card

Does anybody knows whether Oracle Lite allows to Store the database in memory stick, like SD or MMC card? Thanks in advance.
    Anton

Oracle9i Lite 5.0.2 Windows allows you to use CompactFlash card on PPC to store Oracle Lite database. In fact 5.0.2 used the CompactFlash as default drive.

  • Integrated SD/mmc card reader

I have a strange problem with the integrated sd/mmc card reader on my laptop. I know I have everything correctly configured and the needed modules loaded because I can use a 16MB and a 128MB SD cards without any problem. When I insert any of them udev creates the devices:
    From /var/log/messages.log
    mmcblk0: mmc0:1d00 SD016 14560KiB
    mmcblk0: p1
    mmcblk0: mmc0:4125 SD128 123008KiB
    mmcblk0: p1
    and the devices:
    ls -l /dev/mm*
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 254, 0 abr 10 17:14 /dev/mmcblk0
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 254, 1 abr 10 17:14 /dev/mmcblk0p1
I can mount the second device and access to the card.
But if I use a 256MB or a 1GB card udev does not detect them and does not create the mmcblk devices. Also no messages in the logs. Any idea of the reason?
The only log is when I remove the card:
    mmc0: Card removed during transfer!
    mmc0: Resetting chip
Some days ago I was still using Slackware and I could read these two cards. The kernel was a 2.6.17, so it may be a bug in the 2.6.20 kernel?
The card reader is a Winbond W83L51xD and the modules required are mmc_core, mmc_block and wbsd.

So this is what my /etc/modprobe.d/mmc.conf contains:
    options sdhci debug_quirks=0x40
    options firewire-ohci quirks=0x10 debug=0xf
and now, on reboot, when loading user-specified modules, I get the same error:
mmc0: Unknown controller version (16). You may experience problems.
and this is what dmesg says now:

  • MMC card and MP3 player - 1/2 capacity after format?

    Hi,
I got an MP3 player (1 Gb) and a MMC card (2 Gb) and after format in a USB card reader from OS X 10.4.7, they are now 512 Kb and I Gb respectively. MS Dos or Mac format doesn't matter.
Is it a USB 1 or 2 problem?
    Any one know about this?
    EF

Well I have solved the problems and I post here in case others encounter them.
The MMC/SDC card was fixed by getting a true USB 2.0 card reader, the one I had was about USB 1 & 5/8 ths.
The MP3 player was a rip off, sold as 1 Gb but really only 512 Kb see:

  • Equium A100-306: Vista doesn't read MMC cards - MMC1 device has no driver

Have installed all the vista drivers from the toshiba support page and my card reader reads SD cards well.
However when I insert an MMC card Vista searches for drivers but cannot find any. Says MMC1 Device has no drivers.
    Help Please

Did your Equium read MMC card with XP? If yes, then I suggest you to reinstall your drivers and check if you forgot to download some drivers to download/install.
Sometimes you can find drivers which are not on the european website on the canadian website of toshiba:

Hope you will be successful. :)
