Hi Guys,
I have came across some of the users of this discussion forum, posting their Nokia OVI Suite related issues in this discussion forum, i would suggest, they can post their Nokia OVI Suite related issues in PC and Mac Software Under Software Sections, so that their issues will be replied quickly

Unfortunately you cannot control where users post and they are highly unlikely to see your post before posting theirs.
All you can do is read their post more carefully and if you are uncertain if they are referring to the ovi site or ovi suite ask them which they are using.
If you notice a post that you feel is in the wrong section report it to a moderator and they will move it.

  • Nokia PC Suite support for Outlook and Thunderbird

    Hi,
I am currently using the Microsoft Outlook 2007 combined with Nokia PC Suite to synchronize the contents of the Outlook with my Nokia N73 smartphone. I am now considering to switch e-mail client from Microsoft Outlook to the Mozilla Thunderbird. So my question is then, is Nokia PC Suite compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird?
I have in fact already installed Thunderbird, but it is not available as an option anywhere in the settings for Nokia PC Suite. All I can find in the Nokia PC Suite settings is a tab called "Microsoft Outlook" where I can choose the different Outlook profiles or change settings. In my humble opinion there should be a new tab added called "Thunderbird" or similar right next to the "Microsoft Outlook" tab in the settings for Nokia PC Suite after installing another e-mail client such as the Mozilla Thunderbird.
I know that there is this option to choose what e-mail client to use upon installing Nokia PC Suite, where I have chosen Outlook. Does this mean that I have to reinstall Nokia PC Suite to get this choice to choose e-mail client to use? If I do reinstall Nokia PC Suite, will I even get to this option at all? Since I am only reinstalling Nokia PC Suite and it is already configured once to be used with Outlook, I'm thinking that maybe this option will not even appear upon reinstalling Nokia PC Suite.
I don't have a clear memory of it but I think I once reinstalled Nokia PC Suite for some reason and I was not presented with this option to choose e-mail client as the first time I installed it. So this may require complete uninstallation and deletion of files and Windows registry for Nokia PC Suite, and then a fresh installation of it to get to this window where to choose e-mail client.
Even when and if I get to that window, it's no guarantee that I will be able to choose Thunderbird even thou it's installed. Why? Because I know from experience that commercial and proprietary software like Nokia PC Suite tends to only support the industry standard platforms and systems and applications, or de-facto industry standards like the extensively used Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft products. I know by experience that such software as Nokia PC Suite love to lick Microsoft's **bleep**. Don't you think?... or don't you know? You disagree? Well lay it on me, tell me what you think!
I would love to be able to synchronize my mobile phone with my computer, even if I may use a Linux or other nix-like operating system. But if Nokia PC Suite doesn't even support e-mail clients other then Microsoft Outlook, such as the Thunderbird, then it's probably too much to ask for a Linux support for Nokia PC Suite. Or is it?... does Nokia PC Suite support Linux?...

    Thanks for your answers!
By this time I have made a clean install of Windows Vista at least three times, and on one occasion I remembered to check this this thesis of mine that I mentioned above. So for the purpose of testing if it's true that the Nokia PC Suite installation process or Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard does not present the user with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as e-mail client, I have done the following.
I have made a completely clean, out of the box installation of Windows Vista on the computer (retail version, non-custom branded Vista version). After installing the needed and important drivers for the system and other software required for the proper operation of the system and few other software, I went on installing Microsoft Office with Outlook 2007 as one of the first software applications. Then I installed Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird. After I had done that, I installed the Nokia PC Suite.
As my thesis predicted, after successfully installing Nokia PC Suite and the Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard was started, I was not presented with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client, even thou both Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird were installed prior to or before Nokia PC Sync. In other words, if this was a limitation of the Nokia PC Suite or it's installer, where it does not recognize e-mail clients that are installed after Nokia PC Suite itself, then installing the e-mail clients in this order should make Nokia PC Suite recognize it. But it did not, or at least as long as the Mozilla Thunderbird is concerned. Thus, this proves my thesis - Nokia PC Suite is currently not compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird. And Mobile Sensei Petrib confirms this also.
Here follows a screenshot of the actual Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard.
    http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9803/nokiapcsyncsd3.jpg
I'm afraid we will have to bear with this. I personally don't believe that there will ever be any official release of Nokia PC Suite that will have full support (or any at all) for other e-mail clients then just Microsoft Outlook and Lotus, or that there will be any official Linux or nix-like version of it. Not today, not in next five years, and not in one thousand light-years from today. We can hope, but the odds are pointing in the opposite direction.
So bear with Microsoft Outlook, and the Windows **bleep**. No pay, no play! Unfortunately... fortunate for Microsoft, Nokia, and others alike, but unfortunate for us end users.

  • Nokia C7 and Ovi Suite issues.

Hi. I'm currently experiencing a couple of issues with my Nokia C7 which I've had since March of this year. A few weeks back it kept randomly rebooting on occasion but it stopped doing this after a software update, I think. However, since last night when the battery went low it's failed to work properly at all and is pretty much unusable. I tried sending texts and it just freezes/hangs or crashes at different menu options. I had left it overnight after a full charge, but woke to find it switched off and the battery at only 4 bars. Since then it's been turning off or freezing constantly.
I can only un-freeze it/turn it off by taking the battery out. I know that it needs to be reset - I think the *#7370# code is the one to use? But first I need to back it up as most of the content is on the mass memory.
However, device driver keeps failing and Ovi Suite has only synced messages. I keep getting an error when trying to sync contacts and photos. Backup won't work at all; it just keeps saying OviSuite is busy even when it isn't.
I shall be taking the phone to an o2 store asap but expect they'll only send it for repair. Should I push them for a replacement or is this issue fixable?
Many thanks for any help given.
PS will files that had previously been backed up - such as games (eg Angry Birds) and apps - be restored to their current save data or will I have to start again/re-download them?

one more bump and then I give up on Ovi suite. Once again

  • Nokia N9 and Ovi suite - when will Ovi suite suppo...

    Hi
Yesterday I got my nokia N9, Im totally in love with the phone. So much better than my iPhone!
However, Im a business user and are dependent on synchronising my phone's contact book and calendar with my pc. Nokia Ovi suite currently do not support the N9.. When will it?

Nokia N9 does not support Ovi Suite, but there is new lightweight and simple to use Nokia Link application for your PC or Mac:  www.nokia.com/nokialink . With this application you can easily  copy photos, videos and music to your N9.
For Outlook contacts and calendar you can use the Mail for Exhange account, that will also synch your email. You can find guidance here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/n9/user-guide?ccf_name=nokia-n9/guide/GUID-6BE14793-...
For directly syncing contacts from your old phone to the N9 you can use the widely compatible contact syncing. You can initiate this from the Phonebook> Options> Import contacts or from the Settings:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/n9/user-guide?ccf_name=nokia-n9/guide/GUID-D546BDA9-...
For preloading maps, you no longer need to have your computer, but can do this directly from the N9's Map application. From the settings you can choose> Manage maps> App maps. There you can preload country maps over WLAN connection.

  • E71x, Ovi Suite 3.0.0, and Outlook 2010 Contact Sy...

I was unsure whether to post this here, or in the E-Series Forums - I believe this is primarily an Ovi issue, though.
I've had this e71x for about four months now. In all that time, I still have yet to find a lasting solution to my contact sync problems. It's always been something - device recognition, drivers, software updates... just name it.
When Ovi 3.0. was released, I thought, 'Maybe this update will resolve the problems, finally'. Well, It did - for maybe two syncs. Then we were back to errors. Specifically, error code '8004fd02' (see attachment).
That's what I see every time I try to contact sync. It seems to be a problem with the online Ovi, because every time I sync via the Suite, then check Ovi.com, I have a stack of seemingly duplicated contacts. And I don't mean the same person, listed a couple times, with slightly varying detail labels: I mean the exact same entry, repeated half a dozen times, but only in Ovi.com. The only pattern concerning which ones get duplicated, as far as I can tell, is a recent update. Everywhere else my address book is, by and large, updated accurately, although Ovi and Outlook do seem to occasionally diagree on semantics.
That's about the gist of it, at the moment *crosses fingers*. I just need to straighten that out so I don't have a dozen or more extra contacts to delete online and on my phone each sync. The Suite is consistently recognizing my phone though, so that's progress...

    Thank You.
P.S. I don't need to hear for the umpteenth time about 'unplugging and reattaching the phone', or 'checking for software updates', or 'making sure I have the drivers installed'. I've had plenty of time to check the basics by now -

I had lots of problems with my C6 and had to backup it with Ovi suite before sending to nokia service.

  • Ovi suite always connects thru the mobile, not dir...

I am trying to update the software in my n8-00 to fix a connection problem. (so, I can't connect to internet at this stage thru my mobile) I installed the ovi suite and tried to update it (as mentioned in nokia site as an alternative to updating the nokia software using mobile phone itself) . Ovi suite doesn't connect to internet if the mobile is not connected. when the mobile is connected, it alsways connects thru the mobile. I want to update the ovi suite via the internet connection I already have in my laptop, which is thru the wireless lan. Can some body help me?

If what you mean by 'fix a connection problem' is related to the internet on your mobile..call your operator and request them to send Aceess Points settings.. First delete all the existing Access points from the phone... and when the settings are received ( normally thru' SMS).. open the message and select 'SAVE'... Now see if your connection problem is resolved or not..( without any software update...)
If not then again delete all the Access Points.. Now try the Software update thru' OVI suite.. Since the settings are deleted.. OVI Suite should use the Internet from the Laptop... Once done.. again open the SMS and select 'SAVE' to set the Access Points...

  • Ovi Suite 2.0 - Tasks and Calendar Sync doesn't wo...

Since updated Nokia Ovi Suite to the final version and tried to Sync my Tasks and Calendar, the new Ovi Suite made a mess in all my tasks entries. It doubled most of them an also tripled some. Tried to clear all my tasks from Outlook and rebuilt them, then cleared all the phone tasks as well and then re-synced again...and guess what a big mess again. What a pain...I had to rebuild all my tasks for the second time and stop using the OVI Suite for syncing.
Had no problems with the beta versions, all worked fine.
It is also a huge inconvenience that you can't see a log of what was synced after a sync session has finished (as you can with Nokia PC Suite) and also no Calendar in Ovi Suite (if I remember correctly it was a Calendar in the first beta version and you were able to see the differences between the phone and the system. Now this option is only available for Photos, Messages, Contacts, Music, Maps -  but not Calendar).
My conclusion is that the new Ovi Suite does looks nice, but the functionality is disappointing.

    OVI Suite: 2.0.0.10

  • E71 unplugged and Nokia PC Suite issue

    Hello,
I use Nokia PC Suite with my E71 with USB connection.
When I unplug my phone from  the PC, I can't connect again. The USB connection doesn't recognize the phone, even if I stop and start PC suite.
    I must restart my PC.
    Any solution ?

  • Ovi Suite SMS to Contacts and confusion about numb...

    Hi,
    I'm really confused here...
I have a E72 which I sync with a exchange server (Contacts, calendar and mail).
The sync part seems to work fine.
However, I would also like to sync Notes and have the ability to SMS from my computer. That's where I thought Ovi Suite came into the picture but I'm having some problems:
When sending SMS from Ovi Suite: I enter name of the contact the name appears with a preview of the phone number in the format "070-783XXXX", when I try to send it says invalid format so I need to enter the number manually in the format "070783XXXX" to be able to send the SMS
When I update a contact in Outlook, the contact is updated in phone, but not in Ovi Suite
When I use outlook number formats (specifying country, area code etc) the number appears as "+46 (070) 783XXXX", but then number recognition doesn't seem to work on incoming calls.
What I want to accomplish and wonder if it is at all possible is:
Manage my contacts, calendar and mail in Outlook. Sync through MfE
Reach my contacts from Ovi Suite to be able to send SMS to them
Use Ovi Suite to manage Map files, Music, and other phone files.
Use Ovi Suite to Sync Notes from Outlook.
I'm I on the right track here? Any suggestions for a better way of managing contacts and having the functionality I've described?

  • N8 ovi suite connection not working and unable to ...

Hi guys, i bought a brand new n8 today with vodafone australia, and being naturally very excited about it i tried to download some apps from the ovi store. i was prompted to download the ovi store installer, which i accepted, but when it came to installing it onto my phone i was displayed"file corrupted". i went on to ovi suite to try and install it from my pc (vista) and i was unable to update my support software, and then my phone was unable to connect to the ovi suite.
Can someone please help me! this is literally a brand new phone and i have performed no resets, soft or hard, on it.
    Thanks, fletcher

The splitter  coax F-connector may have been installed with a small connector wrench.  Just use a small 11mm or 7/16 in. wrench, or pliers and loosen the connector about 1/2 turn.  Then you can disconnect it with your fingers.  Make sure the cable itself is straight and not putting pressure on the connector.

  • Ovi suite connection to OVI-Store

was so happy when I saw that OVI suite is showing features from my home store (Germany) even I in China at the moment.
But the positive surprise had an sudden end when I tried to select and install something.
It is sending the link to my phone in China....yes it really does.... but when I want to install it then the old problem pops up. It says......this app is not available in your country.
I brought up this point in other forums already, but NOKIA does not have any plan to change this.
I can only say OVI-store is useless for me and many many other foreigners here, if they cannot access the store of the country where they belong to.
None of them wants to install all the Chinese scrap on their phones.
This also means all travelers and business people cannot access the ovi-store, when they are not in their home country. Nokia seems to be too rich, they obviously don't need this business.
My wife already switched to Android, she can access her home store. As I am a blind long term NOKIA addicted user I suffer and write this post hoping that NOKIA will change one day.

Hi, please try this with Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284. You can use Nokia Ovi Suite's own software updates (Tools -> Check for updates) or via direct download and install from www.ovi.com/suite

  • Ovi suite should sync ovi maps

    Hi,
just a gripe I hope Nokia will read. It would be nice if the ovi suite could 'sync' maps. What I mean is you can browse either the available maps or the maps on your phone. It can't show you the two together. What it *should* do, if Nokia actually used their own products, is show the available maps with some mark '*' to indicate which are already on your phone. When copying maps it should prompt you that a certain map is already on the phone and offer the opportunity to overwrite or skip.
You know, basic 1990's file sync stuff.
Maybe I'll send Nokia support an email.
      Sander

Hi, look I really think you need to chill about this, you only need to update maps every couple of years, I work in the motor trade and most expensive factory fit sat nav systems are cd/dvd based and are generally not updated much more often than 18 months, the whole reason for loading maps onto your phone is to save data charges and speed everything up. If you have no maps on your phone navigation will still work if internet is connected as the phone will download maps 'on the fly' as it needs them, but it just slows things down and if you're out of your region will cost plenty in roaming charges (so download your foriegn destination on pc before you leave). Just enjoy your phone and free navigation
