  • Nokia 6303 /ovi suite contacts in outlook sync pro...

    Hi
I am using ms outlook on windows xp and ovi suite.  The problem is that not all the information from outllok is passed to the phone.  Some addresses are left out and sometimes other info such as phone numbers or email address don't sync.  Some contacts are fine and there doesn't seem to be any consistancy to the problem.  Any ideas anyone.
    Regards

I have N97 Mini and a lot of problems.Actually I wouldn't called it problems because there is no solution ever post by NOKIA support. This is really a nightmare that NOKIA COMPANY sold to the buyers along with phones we bought .I have 10 years of experience with NOKIA devices all of the models including the first Symbian 6600.Now the whole month I spent every day trying to handle this **bleep** od device and the biggest **bleep** OVI suite searching on hundreds of sites and forums but everywhere the same only bad no solution and NOKIA just giving new versions that means nothing for solving problems.
So XP Pro OS when i try to sync contacts  the most of the contacts I do but about 33 contacts reports Sync conflict and i have notes that those contacts has a photo of people next to number.
Also well known problem is with music, videos and photos. I have music stored in mass storage and what ever i tried i cannot reproduce the music from the device.I made playlists,library,...
The next thing I'll do, I will turn on my camera and say what I think of new NOKIA and OVI suite than I will throw N97 Mini hard on the floor and madly wade over device while it becomes a pile of  trash what is the real description of new generation touch screen and new OVI suite any version!

DOES THIS MEAN I CAN UPDATE TO ANNA VIA BLUETOOTH?  nope! grrr..........it says you need to connect via usb. plugged it in and it doesnt work!
HELP why cant i update my phone via usb through the nokia ovi suite+ nokia suite........help me please.
nokia e7-00 is my first ever nokia phone

I had this problem too with Ovi suite & the new Nokia suite, reinstalled several times with no luck, failed to realise that I had to also uninstally other Nokia software too like Nokia connectivity cable driver.
You could try uninstalling these in this order & then reinstalling Ovi/Nokia suite to see if that fixes your problem:
Nokia connectivity cable driver,  PC connectivity solution, Windows driver package - Nokia pccsmcfd, Ovi/Nokia suite.

  • E-72 OVI Suite-USB Connection Issue

    Model: E-72
    OS: 031.023
    OVI Suite Version: 2.2.1.23
Laptop OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64 Bit
Problem: When connecting the phone via USB, OVI Suite suggests that the phone is not in PC Suite mode where as I've selected PC Suite mode when it prompts also by going to
Ctrl Pnl>Connect>USB. But no luck, restarted Laptop multiple times, also the phone.
OVI works fine with Blutooth for all sync etc but I need USB connection working to upgrade mobile software.
Other Observations: When phone is connected via USB Windows 7 detects it as S60 device with options of manage media, browse files, import picture, not sure if this is related. Also the device shows error and requires troubleshooting in modem mode because of bluetooth peripheral device is not installed due to not being able to find appropriate driver.
This is a new phone and new OS, using for first time with USB cable, it never worked, no changes made that could be trigger for this issue, any help will be greatly appreciated

  • NOKIA N8 -ovi suite keeps on giving a message to s...

I got an n8 recently and installed ovi suite on my PC by downloading the latest ovi suite version. I tries to sync the phone by connecting my phone thru USB cable. But the Ovi suite application says that set your device USB mode to ovi suite. The USB connection is already on ovi suite mode (actually that is the default USB mode on the phone). I cannot go any further as everytime i get a message to set the USB to OVI suite mode which it is already in.
I have already uninstalled ovi suite once and tried connecting the phone after re installation. But no luck.
The USB cable is fine as the PC detects the phone.
    Help

    Hello yashu.
To be able to help, we would like to know few things:
    1. Is this first time you installed any  Ovi Suite version to your PC ?
    2. Have you tried to connect any other Nokia devices with Ovi Suite ?
If this was not first time:
    3. Did you get your N8 connected with previous version of Ovi Suite?
    4. Have you ever used your N8 with Bluetooth connection on that specific PC ?
Finally; Could you open registry editor on you PC and check device settings:
    1. Choose Start->Run and type regedit <enter>
    2. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Nokia\Nokia Ovi Suite\Devices\<IMEI> where <IMEI> is your devices indentification. If there is no any other devices ever connected, there should be other devices. Alternatively you can check it from your device by "calling" to *#06#.
Copy  value  of key "FRIENDLYNAME" to answer (It may be empty too).
    Thanks.

  • Improve your UI software Nokia. Ovi Suite wasted m...

The E71 device/hardware is good. But, unless I was confused by Nokia website:
    - The E71 user guide is poorly simplistic and should be improved;
    - Nokia support is quasi inexistant: - Nokia web 'support' is not better than the marketing brochure, and Vodafone support is struggling as well;
    - Nokia PC suite is OK, better than previous versions;
    - Nokia Ovi suite is to be avoided: I spent 6 hours trying to make it work with no sensible result. No response from Nokia 'support' for my requests for help.
    - I had to unload all Ovi applications and revert to the Nokia PC suite. More progress is needed in software Nokia. Less nice picture, more functionality that works.
    - Ovi can't synchronise my PC Outlook  with the calendar on my E71.
A telephone handset shouldn't be considered as a "computer game" or MP3 player: we have no time to waste. As a 15 years Nokia user I am trying not to go Blackberry but for how long?

  • Feedback from Nokia re Ovi Suite

Yesterday I posted two message on this discussion board which highlighted my dissatisfaction with Ovi Suite and my total frustration with the support offered from Nokia, one of them had a link to a survey.
Did Nokia respond to find out why I was to dissatisfied? No, they removed the posts.
To all those users who felt I disrepected them I apologise, but doesn't Nokia advertise this discussion board as somewhere where we the customers can share our comments & thoughts?
To Nokia I offer no apology, why? Because Ovi Suite is a let down, and I have tried to contact Careline, but guess what, you don' care!!
For Nokia the best way to deal with an unhappy customer is to silence them.

Whilst all users are welcome to share there thoughts, we do expect those thoughts to to be expressed in a way that shows due respect to all other users of this forum, and having reviewed post in question concerning Ovi Suite, we support the actions of the moderator who took the decision to remove your post.
The questions that you ask are perfectly legitimate:
Why can't I sync with Gmail?
Why can't I sync with Lotus Notes like I could with PC Suite?
Why was PC Suite replace with Ovi (without same functionality)?
Is anything being done to fix Ovi Suite and give it better functionality?
Nokia does monitor the points raised on this forum, and many Nokia employees from a variety of backgrounds and specialities do participate in the discussions on a voluntary basis. • [N900] Ovi Suite USB Connection

    Hello *,
I am unable to connect my N900 via USB to the most recent version of Ovi Suite. I have the latest firmware installed on the N900, in particular PR 1.3. Connecting it via Bluetooth works fine. "PC-Suite" Mode is selected. But no connection is determined. I have double-checked the problem with my old E90, which connects correctly.
I am not quite sure, but I believe that this problem occurred since the upgrade of the N900 to PR 1.3. There have been a couple of other problems occuring since then. After deploying the PR 1.3 upgrade bluetooth OBEX functionality stopped working, as did the Explorer Plugins provided by the deprecated PC-Suite. A switch to Ovi Suite did not get things better.
    Any suggestions are appreciated :-)

Rontom is right and I also noticed that you've several apps running on your PC. Close all other apps when you update phone firmware.

  • Ovi Suite + 5230 USB not working

    Preamble:
I recently connected my Nokia 5230 mobile phone to my PC via USB connection and loaded up Ovi Suite (2.2.1.23). Everything worked lovely. But alas! Both an Ovi suite update was available, as well as a update for the phone itself! So I downloaded the latest version of Ovi Suite (3.0.0.284).
Unfortunately, now Ovi Suite does not detect when I select "PC Suite" USB mode (selected on the phone screen). This essentially makes Ovi Suite useless.
So I followed some advice on other discussion pages (more on that later) and reinstalled the Ovi Suite. The problem persisted.
Here are some pictures to help you understand my problem:
    http://i.imgur.com/5IknF.jpg
The computer is able detect the phone is connected via USB. I can even browse the contents of the phone memory and memory card. Upon detecting the connected phone, and me pressing 'PC Suite' on the phone screen, it will show this:
    http://i.imgur.com/lV0rs.jpg
I cannot progress past this screen. The Ovi Suite simply does not recognise that I've selected that option on the phone.
    Defense:
I know what your thinking. "Just another USB thread". Well, I did in fact read plenty of threads on this forum before posting, and have spent the last few hours uninstalling and reinstalling Ovi Suite and drivers in various ways (as suggested in those threads), with no success.
The following is a list of forum threads which I have read and tried all the solutions found in each, and I have copied the solutions (which appear to have worked for other people), for your convenience:
    /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/Ovi-Suite-PC-Suite-USB-Connection-Problem/td-p/682828
Solutions which did not work for me:
Could you please follow these steps and check?
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and PC suite (hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.
    1. Uninstall all nokia related applications like Ovisuite, pc suite, connectivity cable driver,pc connectivity solutions, nokia software updater etc. from ur PC.
    2. Restart your PC
    3. Now download and install the recent ovisuite from http://www.ovi.com/suite
    4. After installation, disconnect/disable your internet connection (this will make sure that the PC use the drivers which comes with ovisuite and  prevent the PC from downloading any new drivers from internet) and then connect your mobile and wait for drivers and support software installation.
    5. After drivers installation you can connect your mobile to ovisuite from ovisuite screen.

Uninstall the following Programs, if any, from Control Panel -> Programs and Features or Add or Remove Programs.
    Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver

Later download and install the latest OVi Suite from the following location.

Once all the required drivers are installed automatically, you try connecting the mobile by selecting 'Connect your device' from the bottom left on the OVi suite screen. You should be able to connect your device now.
After connecting you can go ahead and update your maps/ download new country maps.
NOTE: before updating your maps/ download new country maps, you should have used your maps in you mobile atleast once.
Hope this will resolve your issue.
You can connect back your internet anytime after the drivers installation.

     (From /t5/Nokia-Ovi-Suite/E52-Sync-Error-8393f010-838c03ee/m-p/740481)
Ovi Suite then recognized my device and the sync appears to have gone smoothly.  I hope it works for you too!  It's ridiculous that it causes so many problems though--I've wasted many hours on something that should have installed correctly the first time.
Other threads with this problem, which I came across that mention the same problem with various other phones:

    Zship's revelations:
So this is not really a problem for me. I have the working, older (2.2.1.23) version of Ovi Suite installed on my netbook, and sure enough, it works fine, I just tried it. I wont be updating Ovi Suite on it though. I also could probably just download the update via 3.5G using just the phone itself, but the problem remains that a simple software update has caused a critical connectivity problem between your software and hardware. Given that many Nokia customers would have less technical know-how than say, myself or anyone else on this forum, this problem is a quite likely a huge inconvenience to them, they probably wouldn't visit these discussions and spend 5 hours reinstalling software like I just did, and they surely would be thinking twice before purchasing another Nokia device in the future.
tl;dr - Nokia recommended update breaks connectivity between software and device, various attempts to fix seemingly simple problem don't work.
    Solved!

SAME PROBLEM. And none of the many suggested solutions has worked for me yet. I want to thank all on this thread (and many others) for their help. I've learned a lot but I haven't gotten to the bottom of it. I think maybe Nokia needs to ... uh ... bloody well BOTHER TO FIX THIS ISSUE themselves, maybe. Like, cuz they're PAID FOR IT and I'M NOT. Harrumph.
I run Windows XP, and was on Media Player 11, but have rolled back to 9 and 10. I have a Nokia E 72. I have all the latest Nokia cable-drivers, PC Suite, OVI Suite, Connectivity software, etc.. The symptoms are as follows: when I plug in the phone by USB cable, the laptop won't recognize it. It says "USB device faulty" or "failed to load properly" and refuses to get the hardware into its brain. The Device Manager shows only a "Unknown Device" which I cannot install drivers onto. Taking the extra media-card out of the phone doesn't make any difference -- nothing I've done will make the computer recognize the main (built-in) card in the phone. I can't browse to it via any sort of populate / repopulate disk drive, or any other method of connecting it.
As I understand it, this is some conflict with the phone and the new concept of MTP. Media Transfer Protocol confuses the computer, causing it to kind-of think that the phone is kind-of a media player, when in fact it's a whole lot more. So, the "parent" doesn't get loaded, then the rest of the phone doesn't get loaded, then it kind-of tries to load some MTP but fails, etc.. If I could browse to the phone through a non-Nokia connection I'd be happy to do so in order to implement any of a number of the suggestions above. But I can't get the computer to recognize the phone when the phone is plugged in by USB, regardless of all the solutions above.
The problem began a few days ago. It just up and wouldn't recognize the phone. I hadn't installed any updates that I knew of on either item, but it's possible that my memory is faulty and a newer version of this or that snuck in there and screwed it all up. I have tried a serious roll-back to a Restore Point about six weeks old, but that didn't solve the problem. This suggests to me that the problem is phone-resident, since the rollback was to a computer-based Restore Point and I don't have phone rollback capability.
This seriously hampers me. PC Suite, OVI, and some future version of Nokia Suite, will all be useless to me unless Nokia accomplishes the stunning act of supporting their software. I won't hold my breath. Just in general, you'd think that plug-and-play of a phone into your computer would be a lot simpler. Just take the cord -- stick it in the phone; stick it in the computer -- and shazam, you're plugged in. But NOOOOOO we're on NOOOOOOKIA ... Now I know why Microsoft wanted to buy them so badly. They knew they'd all get along and have the same assumptions about software -- that it doesn't really matter whether it works reliably on a user's computer at his home, as long as it works in theory on some programmer's ideal personal computer in Seattle once in a rare while. Nokia? Meet Microsoft. Microsoft? You and Nokia will get along juuuust fiiiine ...

  • Ovi suite, Nokia Software Updater and my Nokia 573...

I have a nokia 5730 xpress music. I was trying to update its software via my device, but everytime i was trying to download the software i had ''connection error'' message while the internet connection was ok. Then i tried to update my nokia via ovi suite. Same problems. A message was coming that i have no internet connection but my internet connection was working. Later i tried nokia software updater. Everytime i try to open the program it says "sorry, the nokia Software Updater service is currently unavailable. Please try again later." I would be very glad if anyone could help me with this.

Could you please provide us more information on this?
