Any help will be highly appreciable.

Thank you for response. Yes, its the leatest one. I've checked via Nokia Software Updater.

  • Nokia PC Suite Equivalent for iPhone

    Hello
Anyone who has used a Nokia phone will have enjoyed the Nokia PC Suite. Not only did it sync calendars and contacts, but it also had desktop apps for sending SMS, MMS and editing contacts and calendar entries on the phone itself. (Not to mention Windows Explorer integration so you could "browse" the phone's internal and external storage.)
Now that synchronisation with Outlook seems so difficult and error prone, simple tools such as a calendar and contacts editor would really prove useful. I read somewhere that this would impose phone firmware issues, but that's nonsense. Not much more functionality would be required over that already used by iTunes to sync contacts and calendars. These apps could be built into iTunes "Manage Contacts", "Manage Calendar" - just reads/writes to the connected handset.
Is such a thing ever likely to be produced or can someone recommend a third party product that already offers similar functionality?

Is such a thing ever likely to be produced
Very doubtful. The iPhone is designed to be synced to existing contact/calendar applications on your computer. I would guess that most people already use desktop programs to manage their contacts and calendars (separately to iTunes) - so why would Apple want to spend time developing something that duplicates existing functionality, requiring users to use additional tools to manage their data?
Now that synchronisation with Outlook seems so difficult and error prone
In another thread, you state you are using Outlook 2002. Apple states Outlook 2003 or 2007 should be used.
On Mac OS X, the built-in Address Book and iCal applications are used, but I don't know whether Windows has standard built-in contact and calendar applications. If it does, then you're more likely to see future support for those, than get Apple developed ones.
it also had desktop apps for sending SMS, MMS
The iPhone doesn't have the required functionality for sending SMS & MMS from a computer.
Not to mention Windows Explorer integration so you could "browse" the phone's internal and external storage.
The iPhone doesn't have a browsable file system or disk mode, like some other phones. There are a few Mac & PC applications which provide limited functionality like this, but for security reasons the iPhone's file system is quite locked down, so they can't do much.

  • Nokia PC Suite support for Outlook and Thunderbird

    Hi,
I am currently using the Microsoft Outlook 2007 combined with Nokia PC Suite to synchronize the contents of the Outlook with my Nokia N73 smartphone. I am now considering to switch e-mail client from Microsoft Outlook to the Mozilla Thunderbird. So my question is then, is Nokia PC Suite compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird?
I have in fact already installed Thunderbird, but it is not available as an option anywhere in the settings for Nokia PC Suite. All I can find in the Nokia PC Suite settings is a tab called "Microsoft Outlook" where I can choose the different Outlook profiles or change settings. In my humble opinion there should be a new tab added called "Thunderbird" or similar right next to the "Microsoft Outlook" tab in the settings for Nokia PC Suite after installing another e-mail client such as the Mozilla Thunderbird.
I know that there is this option to choose what e-mail client to use upon installing Nokia PC Suite, where I have chosen Outlook. Does this mean that I have to reinstall Nokia PC Suite to get this choice to choose e-mail client to use? If I do reinstall Nokia PC Suite, will I even get to this option at all? Since I am only reinstalling Nokia PC Suite and it is already configured once to be used with Outlook, I'm thinking that maybe this option will not even appear upon reinstalling Nokia PC Suite.
I don't have a clear memory of it but I think I once reinstalled Nokia PC Suite for some reason and I was not presented with this option to choose e-mail client as the first time I installed it. So this may require complete uninstallation and deletion of files and Windows registry for Nokia PC Suite, and then a fresh installation of it to get to this window where to choose e-mail client.
Even when and if I get to that window, it's no guarantee that I will be able to choose Thunderbird even thou it's installed. Why? Because I know from experience that commercial and proprietary software like Nokia PC Suite tends to only support the industry standard platforms and systems and applications, or de-facto industry standards like the extensively used Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft products. I know by experience that such software as Nokia PC Suite love to lick Microsoft's **bleep**. Don't you think?... or don't you know? You disagree? Well lay it on me, tell me what you think!
I would love to be able to synchronize my mobile phone with my computer, even if I may use a Linux or other nix-like operating system. But if Nokia PC Suite doesn't even support e-mail clients other then Microsoft Outlook, such as the Thunderbird, then it's probably too much to ask for a Linux support for Nokia PC Suite. Or is it?... does Nokia PC Suite support Linux?...

    Thanks for your answers!
By this time I have made a clean install of Windows Vista at least three times, and on one occasion I remembered to check this this thesis of mine that I mentioned above. So for the purpose of testing if it's true that the Nokia PC Suite installation process or Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard does not present the user with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as e-mail client, I have done the following.
I have made a completely clean, out of the box installation of Windows Vista on the computer (retail version, non-custom branded Vista version). After installing the needed and important drivers for the system and other software required for the proper operation of the system and few other software, I went on installing Microsoft Office with Outlook 2007 as one of the first software applications. Then I installed Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird. After I had done that, I installed the Nokia PC Suite.
As my thesis predicted, after successfully installing Nokia PC Suite and the Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard was started, I was not presented with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client, even thou both Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird were installed prior to or before Nokia PC Sync. In other words, if this was a limitation of the Nokia PC Suite or it's installer, where it does not recognize e-mail clients that are installed after Nokia PC Suite itself, then installing the e-mail clients in this order should make Nokia PC Suite recognize it. But it did not, or at least as long as the Mozilla Thunderbird is concerned. Thus, this proves my thesis - Nokia PC Suite is currently not compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird. And Mobile Sensei Petrib confirms this also.
Here follows a screenshot of the actual Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard.
    http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/9803/nokiapcsyncsd3.jpg
I'm afraid we will have to bear with this. I personally don't believe that there will ever be any official release of Nokia PC Suite that will have full support (or any at all) for other e-mail clients then just Microsoft Outlook and Lotus, or that there will be any official Linux or nix-like version of it. Not today, not in next five years, and not in one thousand light-years from today. We can hope, but the odds are pointing in the opposite direction.
So bear with Microsoft Outlook, and the Windows **bleep**. No pay, no play! Unfortunately... fortunate for Microsoft, Nokia, and others alike, but unfortunate for us end users.

  • Nokia PC Suite unable to run on Win2K SP4

I've a fresh install of Win2K with SP4 on an old IBM 166MMX.
I downloaded and installed Nokia PC Suite 6.82.22. Installation completed successfully but later
when I connected my cable and phone (nokia 7610), PC Suite failed to run. Connection between my
phone and PC is okay because phone's modem is fully functional. I browsed to PC Suite's folder
and run the applications one by one but every application came with "... has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program."
    Only "Music Manager" works.
I have tried to uninstall and clean the PC with the PC Suite cleaner several times (all possible
options tried) but without any difference.
Although it is an old computer, the PC Suite 6.82 system requirements are fulfilled easily:
Available hard disk space: 200 MB (file size approx 25 MB) (yes)
Operating system: Windows 2000 (service pack 4) (yes)
Connection methods: USB cable, infrared, or Bluetooth (USB cable, yes)
Reportedly some previous versions seems to work fine. Are these versions available?
I don't need the full functionality of PC Suite; just in need of retrieving multimedia content
from the phone. Is some other software available to perform this task?
    Thanks in advance.

my pc suite cleaner log..it quits at the beginning of installation sayin "incompatible with pc suite"..tried to post screenshots but pics are not supported!

  • Nokia PC Suite and Outlook sync - field

    Hello,
why does Nokia PC Suite put default contact number into "Other Phone" field in outlook? This field isn't shown anywhere, and it gives troubles when trying to sync outlook with other applications.
How can I change where number is saved in outlook?

    Hi,
This may be a limitation on phone side
The standard 'Telephone' field on a S40 device will be synchronised to the 'Other' number field in Outlook.
If you whish to change this then you can select 'Change Type' from the menu option on the device, and choose either 'Home' or 'Work' telephones, this will then be synchronised to the 'Home' or 'Work' number field in Outlook.
Please let me know if it helped you

    Moderator, please take notice!
They lack of functionality between Thunderbird contacts and calendar and Ovi Suite is a problem many of us have been monitoring for over 2 years. It looks like still nothing has been done about it. I, for one, cannot believe that so many users have been ignored for so long. To date I still refuse to use Ovi Suite until such time as I can see evidence that will sync contacts and calendar to and from Thunderbird. In addition I see no logical reason why the Ovi Suite developers took a huge step backwards and removed another piece of PC Suite that was already working well, for several years. I am speaking of file sync. Not media files, but others, such as Office type files. The phone can open and read documents, spreadsheets, PDF's and the like. So why can we no longer sync those files? I have been doing this for 6 years, but there are others who have used it for longer than myself. It is a crucially important feature for those of us who need to carry info with us. Since PC Suite can still do the sync, I cannot, in good conscience install Ovi SUite, which I still feel is not yet ready for primetime.
Nokia developers, stop playing games. Some of us have work to do.

  • Transfer Nokia Ovi Suite 2 Data to Another Compute...

    Hi Everyone,
I've been using the Ovi Suite for a while now specifically for synching all my text messages. I have a new laptop and I would like to transfer the SMS data synched in my old pc right now through the Ovi Suite. How do I go about this? Most of them are already deleted in my phone so I think I need to extract or migrate the database files from my old pc to the new one.
I'm using an N79. Here's the other details:

    Nokia Photos 1.3.15.0

    Maps Service API 3.0.35.0

    Ovi Desktop Sync Engine 1.0.0.684
    Operating system:
Microsoft Windows Vista 32-bit Edition, Service Pack 2
    Language: English
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
You currently have very old Ovi Suite version. My recommendation is that you update the version to the most recent one (www.ovi.com) which is Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.290.
I don't recommend you transfer these old components to new PC and then use them with new Ovi Suite version. They may even end up not working at all...
You have two quick solutions to use (with new version):
    1) You can just drag and drop all the messages to your device and then when connecting with the new PC drag and drop them back (if it is a clean PC then you can use also message sync functionality for transfering)
    2) In the new version of the Ovi Suite you have export/import messages functionality available which you can use to export the messages to e.g. .csv file. You can then transfer that to new PC and import the messages from there.

  • Can Nokia Ovi Suite 2.2.0.241 support outlook fold...

in PC suite, I can choose the different folder to sync with my Nokia device, I downloaded previous versions of Ovi Suite several times when it is released, but everytime I am disappointed, then I remove Ovi Suite and use the PC suite again.
Is this time still letting me disappointed or giving me supprising??
Nokia, it is shame on you, when you release a new suite, but remove all useful function in your program, I guess you have a very detailed specification for the PC Suite, but why not develope your new Ovi suite according to the latest PC suite specification??
I am not disappointed with the Ovi Suite itself, but disappointed your way of working really!!

  • Nokia OVI Suite 2 compatible with N900?

    Hello,
PC Suite (for win XP) prompts me to "upgrade" it to Nokia Ovi Suite 2.
PC Suite at the moment allows me to do some things with the N900, like automatically transferring pics and other files to my PC, while the current version of OVI suite isn't doing anything useful for me, it just slows down the whole System.
    My questions:
    1. If I install Ovi Suite 2, will it replace PC Suite, so that PC Suite-functionality will no longer be available?
    2. If PC Suite is replaced by Ovi Suite 2, is the new version less resource-hungry and, most importantly, does it work with my N900?
    thanks Ben

    Hi Ben,
Ovi Suite 2.2.241 does work with the N900, HOWEVER, it is still not a complete solution. It will synch contacts, calendar entries and tasks (if your client, e.g. Outlook, is supported). Features such as sending/synchronising messages is not supported, amongst other things.
    1. It can co-exist with PC Suite (I have it running alongside PC Suite 7.1) and no functionality has been lost with PC Suite. It will not prompt you to uninstall or replace any of the PC Suite components.
    2. Ovi Suite 2 is more resource hungry, probably in part due to the amount of eye candy in the new program (nice graphics, smooth transitiions....you get the drift).

  • Nokia Ovi Suite 2.0 and Calendar Sync

Why did Nokia get rid of the calendar sync function that allows a user to sync years into the future and past.
Nokia Ovi Suite is a poor replacement for Nokia PC Suite.
    Switching back.

I sync with Outlook calendar all the time.  Ovi Suite also takes all the time in the world to sync, but the ability is there.

  • Nokia OVI Suite Error - Unable to read the tracks

I have puchased Nokia X6, which comes with unlimited music download. I have registered my PC with this subscription and downloaded music from the store.
However recently the Nokia OVI suite Software 3.0.0.290 gives a  error on clicking the Music section - Operation Failed "Unable to read the tracks"

I have OVI Suite 3.1.1, and a Nokia 5230, which works with OVI suite only while there is no Micro SD card in the phone.  This was the same with OVI 2, as well.  WIth the card inserted, the /private/10208913 folder is regenerated every time the card is plugged back into the phone, and a "New Hardware Detected - MTP" message appears every minute or so, which also denies accessing the phone through windows explorer despite selecting the Mass Memory Mode. I've been unable to load any new music to the phone for months, despite countless retries.
I have win XP, and a crumbling confidence in Nokia.  A tragedy that I have bought an X6 for the other half, which I have not had time to set up yet, and another 5230 for my father which was also several days toil of installs and reinstalls of OVI Suite and OVI Music on a Vista PC.  Nokia OVI just seems like nothing but constant hard work, and what I could have earned in overtime would have paid for a much slicker product.  Unless Nokia can sort this out, rather than relying on discussion groups to try to help user groups resolve what seems to be a flakey product, from my limited experience, I don't hold out much hope for this product line.
