Nokia PC Suite - Ovi Suite - Nokia Suite

Nokia PC Suite - Ovi Suite - Nokia Suite.
What are the differences between these software suites?

The earlier means of communication between your Phone and the PC is the PC Suite. Then came the OVI Suite which was later renamed as Nokia Suite. Though cont. improvements are in process, many users still think the PC Suite to be more stable, more user friendly and more feature filled...

    Hi,
I bought my Nokia X6 16GB around november...the phone was working fine and was able to connect to PC as Mass storage device.
2 days back when i tried to connect to OVI suite to download maps...my phone was not being recognised by OVI suite/PC suite. But i can still connect it as Mass Storage Device.
I browsed through other posts...and tried eveyrthing...i.e... I tried uninstalling PC SUITE, OVI SUITE, Connectivity Cable Driver,etc...Removed all entries from registry!....Tried reinstalling again all these to my PC....Reformatted by Mass Storage in the Phone. Tried resetting to factory settings....but no luck!
Also under USB connections in the mobile, i get only 4 options...
    1. OVI Suite
    2. Mass Storage
    3. Image Transfer
    4. Media Transfer
I dont see any PC Suite option.
Also whenever i connect the phone to the PC...i get a found new hardware wizard with the following message.

had this problem after doing a hard reset on my x6, pc suite and ovi suite would not recognise phone.
The solution above worked great although i had to restart the pc after repairing drivers for it to connect.
reason for hard reset was because the screen kept going all washed out/scrambled every now and then tho could get it back to normal after playing with lock button. hard reset did not fix this issue which i am still having.

  • 'Nokia PC Suite' & 'Nokia Ovi Suite' for my Nokia ...

'Nokia Pc Suite' & 'Nokia Ovi Suite' are same softwer?
Bcz my nokia C1-01 have nokia ovi suite, when my computer install Nokia pc suite & connect, then my mobile display show 'nokia ovi suite' & 'mass storage' when click 'nokia ovi suite' can't find my mobile in my computer!
    why??
Moderator's note: We provided a topic-related to the subject to the post so other users can easily identify and answer the concern.

The USB mode in your Nokia might be called Modem, PC Suite or Nokia Suite, or even Nokia Ovi Suite. In your phone, all these four USB modes are the same.
The PC Suite and the Nokia Suite are two different software titles which can be used in parallel. Furthermore, the Nokia Suite is the successor of (replaced) the Nokia Ovi Suite.
Before you download and install all these software, I recommend to install the latest Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver first.
If that did not help, please, plug-in your Nokia, select that Suite mode, and go to to Windows » Start » Contol Panel (» Hardware » Devices) » Device-Manager » USB » right-click on your Nokia » Update Driver Software. Did that help?

  • Ovi Suite 3.0, Nokia 6303i, can't sync anything.

    Hi!
I have Nokia 6303i. I have updated Ovi Suite to the 3.0 version and now I can't sync anything on it. With ovi suite 2.0 I had no such problems.
Ovi Suite 3.0 does recognise my phone. I have 'PC Suite' mode selected on my phone, but when I click synchronise in Ovi Suite it reports a massage like this:
"Change your device USB mode to Ovi Suite mode (or PC Suite)" - even when I set "PC Suite" mode on my phon manually...
    Any help appreciated!

    Hi zielak666 ,
I am not sure whether this will solve your problrm but you could try this once.
    1. Disconnect your phone from PC if connected.
2 .Open Control Panel and go to ‘Programs and Features’
    3. From the list of available programs, choose ‘Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver’
    4. Click on the ‘Change’ button on top toolbar.
    5. In the setup dialog box that pops up next, choose ‘Repair’ and select ok. Wait for setup to complete.
    6. Restart the computer if prompted.
    7. Now connect your phone to the PC. Driver installation should complete and Ovi suite 3.0.0.284(hopefully) should detect your mobile properly now.

  • Can't update nokia e72 via ovi suite

So there is "maps data update application" on available updates list. I connect my device via USB, push the "next" button on the updates screen and it says that my sim card is missing when its not. It also says "please change the USB mode on your device to PC suite mode" on the bottom left corner, where the phone pic is, but im already using PC suite mode. Restarted the phone, made sure I'm using General profile - nothing helps. Any ideas whats wrong?

well i have updated my maps and my maps data via ovi suite numerous times, ovi suite is pcsuite+NSU+Maps updater+map loader, its an all in one and if you are using an updated version of maps, it will show you a prompt to update in the software update tab, so basically it does update ur maps version too but in this case i don't really know what the problem is, might be an OS conflict or might be a firmware error too. I recommend that you run ovi suite using adminstrator privileges on vista/7,right click on the program icon and then selct run as adminstrator, diable any antivirus program that you are using and ten try updating using ovi suite. If this doesnt work then please soft reset ur phone using the phone *#7370#, this should fix most firmware glitches, please backup all data on phone memory before performing a soft reset, these steps should fix all problems that you've mentioned.

    Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate
    Service Pack: No Service Pack
    PC Suite Ver.: 7.1
    Connection Method: Through Cable.

    hi pdogger
With reference to uninstalling PC Suite 6.83 rel_14.1 it removes core application, but cable driver portion remains.
You may need to get Windows Installer Cleanup Utility "msicuu2.exe" from Microsoft.com and run this. You need to select "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solutions" programs. After running this utility they should now uninstall.
    Reboot your PC.
This should now enable a clean install of PC Suite.

  • Nokia N8-00 does not have Nokia Suite/Ovi mode

Hi, I have an N8 with Symbian^3 and I wanted to update it to Nokia Belle. I installed Nokia Suite, plug in the phone, but the phone gives me 2 options:
                   -Mass Storage;
                   - COM Port (what means this?);
Because Ovi Suite mode is missing, I choosed COM Port, but it did not work.So I picked Mass Storage. Nothing!
What is the problem and what should I do?
P.S: I attached a picture with the USB menu. Sorry for the bad quality, I made it with an old phone.

    - Turn off everything you have for protection (Windows Firewall, Windows Defender animal virus, anti-virus additional anti-spyware, etc..)
    - I suggest you disable the Windows Firewall through the Control Panel icon "Firewall", "Disable." Please uncheck all options in the tabs "Exceptions and Advanced (notice what is checked to re-activate later).
    - If your PC is connected to a corporate network, if necessary, disconnect from this network to be free from restrictions due to the level of server security
    - Start the installation of Nokia OVI Suite and then reboot your computer one last time.
    - After the restart you can reactivate your coverage and make the connection between your phone and your computer. However, when the first connection, connect your cable to the physical port (back of the pc) and not a hub or the front of your machine.

Open OVI Suite.. Tools-->Add new device.. then follow instructions and see if this makes it work..

  • NSeries PC Suite disapperad from Nokia's site?

Can't find anymore the web page of it. Was it removed from market?

lol yes, ovi still has a looooong way to go in terms of end user functionality tho the idea/concept is brilliant. connecting seamlessly across all possible regions of what it has to offer. it needs a lot of TLC before that truly becomes the reality
yes you are right ovi does not even support that feature yet.....uninstall it and get nokia pc suite it is stable, it works and it does the job done and mostly does not go crazy like ovi does sometimes.
if you have both installed it also has a tendency to cause conflict for some users. so i ovi is not what you want get rid off it and get pc suite. ovi has nice features but still nice looking piece of soft that does not deliver, is not a soft at all for me. i would rather it was ugly and functioning then the other way around. i am all about function above form
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....
