Nokia PC Suite won't recognise Widcomm Bluetooth s...

Hi All.
This is my first attempt at installing and using Nokia PC Suite to synch a new 6103 mobile with MS Outlook via an existing, and well proven, Bluetooth connection. And guess what... straight out the box it doesn't work!
I'm using an MSI PC2PC USB Bluetooth dongle with Widcomm ver 1.3.2.7 drivers (btwdndis.sys). PC Suite connection manager shows only USB or direct cable connections available and Help About displays, "NO SUPPORTED BLUETOOTH STACK FOUND". However, I'm able to PAIR the 6103 with the dongle via the MSI Explorer suite via COM4 from my PC (COM1 from the 6103). Have also used the Bluetooth set-up successfully with an Ericsson T68 and Ericsson's XTND Sync suite for years without much problem.
Nokia: please explain why you're products are unable to support this set-up, while Ericsson's can, and what is need to rectify. The plan is\was to dump the Ericsson set-up once the Nokia's working.
Also, why am I only able to select COM1, COM2 OR COM3 within Nokia PC suite? If I could select COM4, the Bluetooth successfully paired connection, I could possibly use that as a solution? I assume Nokia PC Suite doesn't need to recognise the Bluetooth stack in order to see COM ports?
All version details below;

Neil.

As given in the Help section..
Before connecting your device via Bluetooth, note the following:
You need to have Bluetooth hardware and software installed on your computer. For a list of the Bluetooth software versions that are supported by Nokia Ovi Suite, see System requirements. To check which Bluetooth stack versions are installed on your computer, click Help > About Nokia Ovi Suite > System information.
Enable Bluetooth wireless technology on your computer.
Edit the Bluetooth settings of your mobile device. To do this, go to Settings > Connectivity or Connection depending on the term used on your device. Turn Bluetooth on and make your device visible to other Bluetooth devices. Then other Bluetooth devices, such as your computer, are allowed to find your mobile device, and can start connecting to it. • Nokia PC Suite does not recognise my phone!

Normally when I plus it in, it takes a little while, but then the phone comes up.
Earlier today I installed an external hard drive, which used usb to connect. It is now disconnected, and switched off. Do you think that this has "disturbed" the computer, and now it is not recognising the usb cable connected to my phone?
In my sys tray, the Nokia PC suite icon has a red cross against it. No idea why!
    Any advice gratefully received!!

Forgot to mention- I also installed a new printer today, but it uses the same USB as my old printer did.

  • Nokia PC suite can't detect system bluetooth

Please am having issues with my NOKIA PC suite not being able to detect my laptop bluetooth. Have virtually try everything from bluetooth services set to automatic and others!! My system is HP 620 with motorola bluetooth stack Any one with same problem? Please HELP!!!

i'm having the same problem and did an array of possible solutions but they alll just make me a lil more frustrated every time. did uninstall the reinstall many times, tried repair, downloaded the latest version of the pc suite and cable driver, downloaded nokia software updater but halfway through it says it's unable to find the device. i don't know how to change usb modes because it's asking me to select default mode but where do i get to do that? i was told by someone from nokia that i should be getting a notification that would prompt me to choose a connection mode but didn't see anything. as soon as i click settings>>manage connectons, what appears is a troubleshooter telling me how to fix infrared connectivity issues. i'm not using infrared but cable connection. and the other window that pops up shows there is no available connection. i have neve been able to get past that error. i checked device manager, everything is working just fine there. i have just fixed the question mark. if the pc is recognizing the cable connected to it, why can't it detect the phone? and it's not even about the password because i always make sure to unlock the phone when connecting to the pc. WINLOGON is already EXPLORER.EXE. i don't know what else could be wrong. this was doing just fine before. we have reinstalled OS many times before due to a different pc problem and i can't really pinpoint the exact cause of this error. will anyone care to help please? also, i tried the link provided but it gets me nowher. =-(

  • Nokia pc suit won't install

I have Vista Ultimate and have just tried to install the latest nokia pc suit but it hanged the first time on 36%/10% and now has stuck at 10%/5%. Any idea how I can get it installed?

    Hi there,
I had the same problem on XP.. drove me insane. Go to Add/Remove programs, remove all Nokia related programs, and the PC Connection Suite (v important) Next download the PC clean up tool from the Nokia site and set it to ..."Clean my computer" Once this is done download the previous version of the PC suite... Follow this link.

  • Nokia Ovi suite won't install!

    Hi,
I have recently bought an N97 mini and want to use it as a modem for my laptop. So i tried downloading Nokia Ovi suite and installing it but when it was installing it came up with a message saying:
An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC80.MFC,processorArchitecture="x86",PublicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",version=
    "8.0.50727.4053,type="win32".
I also tried Nokia PC suite but had a similar result...
Anyone have any ideas? They would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Will

    @infinate1
This seems to be corrupted install component. Most of the time this happens when the executables files are not launched properly. I recommend to use the msi clean up utility (from microsoft) and remove all traces of Nokia from system. I am attaching the file as txt, please save it as .exe and then execute
Then navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\OviInstallerCache and remove all the GUID there ( unique nos).
    - Restart Computer
Then download and install the latest version of Windows installer from here

    FOR Windows 7

Then download and install ovi suite from www.nokia.com/ovisuite
    Hopefully this works

  • Ovi suite won't recognise E7-00

Help anyone: I have a new E7-00 and a PC running Vista. When I install Ovi suite and conect the phone then Ovi always says that the phone is not in PC suite (or Ovi suite) mode, but it is. I can never get beyond this which means Ovi doesn't link with the phone, I can't sync, and the phone is basically only any use as a paper weight. Nokia helpline has acknowledged a problem with the USB drivers for the E7 but offered no solution. I've spent hours on this and am getting desperate, any suggestions? Thanks

Hi I have E7 , but use Windows 7, and don't have the problem. But with problems in the past I've removed all Nokia/Ovi software from the computer, including drivers and anything mentioning Nokia or Ovi, then run Nokia PC Cleaner, available from Nokia web site. Then install the latest version of Ovi Suite, Also with every Nokia I've owned, both PC Suite and Ovi suite have ,on occasion, failed to connect straight away, and have needed to be quickly disconnected and re-connected to the usb cable 2 or 3 times (untill the phone says it's charhing) and then it's been fine, The latest Ovi suite should have all the latest drivers, but you can also download driver packs from the Nokia web site, Oh and prior to the last 12 months I was using Vista.
    Good Luck
PS you can still sync your phone via your Ovi Account, the E7 has the settings pre-intalled

    Hi,
this problem was here at least twice already. Problem is in Eset NOD32 antivirus. Just turn off web protection in NOD32 for a time you update Ovi Suite and that it will work just fine. Do not forget to turn it on again after you finish updatitng.

  • PC Suite & Nokia Ovi Suite via Bluetooth on Nokia ...

I had a tough time in getting the Nokia N8 in sync with the latest Nokia PC Suite which will recognise the N8 (version 7.1.40.9) together with the Nokia Ovi Suite through bluetooth. It was a nightmare! I don't use to have any troubles in connecting any Nokia phones via bluetooth but I do have a problem with the N8.
After searching through various forums and blogs, I have come to a conclusion. There is a workaround the problem when it pertains to the Nokia PC Suite. I rarely use the Nokia Ovi Suite because the Ovi Suite would not allow me to sync calender items for more than 6 weeks. With the Nokia PC Suite, it will allow a user to sync any items for 99 years! Can you believe it? However, not all are lost. The Ovi Suite is better in terms of installing updated maps on the N8 though. You would not be able to do so on the Nokia PC Suite.
When it comes to synchronising your N8 with your PC Suite/ Ovi Suite via bluetooth, you need to take care. The steps will be as follows:
    (1) Install the latest Nokia Ovi Suite and or PC Suite Suite version 7.1.40.9.
    (2) Don't run Ovi/Nokia PC Suite. If they are running on the taskbar, right click to exit all of them.
    (3) Enable bluetooth on your N8 and then right click on the bluetooth devices icon at the bottom right of your laptop.
    (4) Once you have right clicked on the bluetooth devices icon, select 'add devices'.
    (5) Follow the prompts on your N8 and also on your laptop/pc.
    (6) Please make sure that your N8's bluetooth is on 'discoverable'. Otherwise your laptop/pc will not be able to pick up the signal.
    (7) Follow the instructions given and then reboot your laptop/pc.
After that, you would need to fire up your PC Suite or Ovi Suite but not both at the same time. Use PC Suite to sync your contacts/messages/calenders while use the Ovi Suite to install and update your map on your Nokia devices.
    Good luck!

    Thanking You

Pls help. I'm able to connect my N8 to my laptop's win7 home premium but not to OVI suite or PC Suite.
They get connected with N8 over cable but not over bluetooth. PC Suite says "Can not authenticate the phone" and ovi suite keeps checking the "Phone's bluetooth capabilities".
    Kindly help.

  • Nokia 3710 fold won't access Telstra messagebank v...

Nokia 3710 fold won't recognise Telstra 101 Voicemail - thinks it's an invalid number and thus attempts an emergency call - however #101# works by having voicemail call you back - not sure if this costs extra though. Telstra know nothing of this problem. Never happened with any other phones I have owned. Any help - same experience??

    Thanks - you're a legend - I got mine from overseas too - now it's perfect.

  • Nokia Suite won't find Nokia 5610 on bluetooth

Hello, I recently upgraded from Nokia Ovi Suite to Nokia Suite and after I did that, Nokia Suite won't find my 5610 by bluetooth. I tried uninstall and reinstall Nokia Suite but no results. I noticed however that Nokia 5610 has been removed from the compatibility list with Nokia Suite. Does this mean 5610 won't work with Nokia Suite? I've also updated my bluetooth drivers but no effect.
    Regards

    Hi tokenize,
Very much welcome to the Nokia Discussions Forum! Download Nokia PC suite and try the connection with that.
You can also take a look at this page and see if downloading bluetooth drivers from there helps. 5610 has indeed been removed from Nokia Suite compatibility list.
Hope you're able to connect your to the PC now.

  • Nokia Suite no longer recognises N9 after upgradin...

I have been regularly using Nokia Suite 3.2 with my N9, and so I recently upgraded to Nokia Suite 3.5. After some initial problems getting ownership of the Nokia file in the ProgramData folder, the install worked however now when I connect using 'Sync and Connect', Nokia Suite doesn't recognise my N9 - I can hear the sound notification of the phone connecting with the computer, followed almost immediately by the same sound notification of the phone disconnecting from the PC.
I'm running Windows Vista 32bit and having used system restore to roll back the install to version 3.2, I now cannot connect my N9 via Nokia Suite 3.2 either.
I've tried different cables to no avail. I do not have Bluetooth on my PC to try. I now cannot connect my N9 and my PC.
    How do I fix this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I seem to have had some success. After getting over the usual language and accent barriers with Nokia Customer Care, and after convincing them that Nokia Suite 3.5 was actually compatible with the N9, they suggested I repair both the Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver and also the PC Connectivity Solution file.
After doing this, Nokia Suite 3.5 still wasn't  recognising my N9. Re-installing Nokia Suite wasn't an option as it would mean deleting all the info stored in it (texts, contacts, etc), some of which are not stored in duplicate on the phone.
I decided instead to try repairing Nokia Suite via Windows, and to my thanks, this seems to have worked. At present all is well and Nokia Suite is now talking and recognising my N9 as it did in v3.2.
What is probably the most puzzling thing to come out of this is that in searching the web for a fix, it became very clear that Nokia have a lot of issues across the board in getting their phones to connect and talk to their UI's on computers.
The fact that they have maybe three to four separate UI's (PC Suite, Nokia Link, Nokia Suite, Ovi Suite) which only seem to be suitable for certain phones is archaic in my opinion. Surely it's time for Nokia to pool their resources and R and D into one UI that is functional across the board and across their phone range?
I think that would make the user experience a more friendly and enjoyable one.

  • PC Suite does not recognise bluetooth

I have a Nokia 6280 purchased last September running v.05.92. I've not been able to update this successfully as when installing a more up-to-date version always seems to disconnect the phone (via cable), causing the update to fail.
I'm running pc suite 6.83.8.7 on a brand new Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop.
The phone has failed twice and has had to be sent back on both occasions to have its software reinstalled.
I've been trying to connect to my laptop with Bluetooth (V2.0+EDR). The phone and laptop (bluetooth manager) recognise each other just fine, however PC Suite keeps coming up with the message:
"Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed hardware, software and drivers are available". I have tried reinstalling PC Suite and Bluetooth but cannot get past this message in the Get Connected menu of PC Suite.
    Any suggestions please?

  • PC Suite 7.1.51 Does not recognise IVT Bluetooth D...

I currently use Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40 after being notified that an update was available, I downloaded and installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.51, tried re-installing Bluetooth drivers just not recognised as existing, although the BlueSoliel 6 system is fully operational, I have had to use system restore to roll back my OS and use the Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40 which seems to work fine.

Well glad to see that I'm not alone with that sort of problem. I ran into the same glitch after updating PC suite too.. also running IVT's latest version under VISTA...PC suite is not connecting via bt advising that the hardware/software wasn't found. Under the info tab of PC suite it loaded
    Stack Bluetooth rilevati:
    - Microsoft (Versions: 6.0.6000, Creation: 16386)
I also wrote to IVT but no feed back from them and thanks to VISTA rock solid platform I was unable to roll back from any previous date. !!!!
Thanks for any support cus I've run out of patience :-)  Joesard/Italy
