Nokia PCsuite wants to update to Ovi Suite

Hi, I have Nokia PCsuite 7.1.40.6 installed. I'd heard there was an update, but unsure if I already had it I selected Web->check for updates. I was given an option to "update" to Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1 However since I use an N900, ovi suite is not compatable (serious omission) Is there an upgrade logic issue here. It's fine if Ovi suite is offered as an additional install, but if it's purely an "update", following that path will lead to loss of function in some cases & should be corrected,

You've the latest PC Suite. OVI Suite is a seperate installation. You can also get OVI Suite here:

I am trying to update FROM Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1 to the newer version.
    The download process NEVER ends.
    2 screen shot are attached.
In the 2nd you clearly see some counter overrun (65518MB / 17MB).
I have already: uninstalled; download new version; installed.
    Same scenario.
    Any clue here?

  • E75 update using ovi suite always errors 12017

Any idea why I can't get my e75 to update I always get error 12017 using ovi suite on vista or windows 7

    I am using an N97.
Just updated my Ovi Suite to Version 3.0.0.284 today. The *#0000# --> Check For Updates command from the handset states "no updates available". Yet when connected with USB cable via Ovi Suite, I am informed that my handset needs to be updated from its current firmware version of 20.0.027.218.04 to version 22.0.110 (quite a few versions different, eh??).
My first gripe already is the inconsistency between what the handset reports and what OVI Suite reports.
Second of all, trying to update the device then via OVI Suite also gives the dreaded Error Code: 12017.
I too was a loyal Nokia fan for many years (10+), but my next handset in August this year will most probably be a Samsung.
Being a systems developer myself, I simply cannot comprehend how absolute utter **bleep** software such as a) Symbian and b) Ovi can be distributed by a reputable company such as Nokia who have all the resources (financially and otherwise) at their disposal to make their handsets a success. Is no-one monitoring the quality of their programmer's efforts, allowing non-QA'd software to spread its wings and enter the wide world to come and make our lives miserable?
    Damn Nokia.

  • Nokia 5230 will not pair woth ovi-suite

My new nokia 5230 will not pair with ovi-suite. Ovie suite finds it in its search for devices, but when it asks me to put the random code into my phone, nothing comes up on my phone and within a second or two ovi-suite tells me pairing has failed. My bluetooth is definately on and visible to all and the ovi suite is the latest version (and my phone is definately on the list as compatible) All software is updated on my phone as well. Thanks!

    Hi Marysmum ,
Could you be more specific about your issue.
Which operating system do u use?
Which firmware version do you have in your mobile? ( *#0000# will reveal the details)
Is the cable connection working fine?
Which version of OVI suite you use?
Go to OVI suite -> help -> About nokia OVI suite -> System information. Paste the information...

I am using vodafone service, also saved setting many times but it didnt work.
How to solve the problem? also wanted to know hard reset or 3 finger reset process and steps.

For the reset, does this help? Because Vodafone operates in different countries with different settings, in which country do you live?

  • Nokia N85 unable to connect to Ovi Suite

I am unable to connect my nokia n85 through usb for Ovi suite and also the Nokia Download program. Whenever i connect the cable, it tells me
"your device is in file transfer connection mode and cannot be used with NOkia Ovi Suite. Quit file tranfer mode from the device if you want to use the device with Nokia Ovi Suite"
The problem is i have no idea how to do this, and whenever i connect my usb cable my phone asks me which type of transfer method and i always select pc suite, so it shouldnt give me this error.

plese help me for fixing this issue: Mine is nokia n85 smart phone. After installing ovi suite in my PC with windows 7, and updating all the software from nokia support, I am unable to connect my mobile to ovi suite through USB. It says," device does not support (though in phone it shows connected in PC suite mode). Please suggest me with 2 alternative methods so I can use one in failure default. Thank you

  • Available app updates in Ovi Suit

Firstly this is not a problem as I do not use Shazam but it is just annoying.
Ovi  Suite tells me there is an update for Shazam 2.2(1) but if I try to install it fails.
The phone (5230) does not say any updates are available at all.
I have had a look on the list of installed apps and Shazam is not on the list, unless it is called something else and I have missed it.

    Hi Spamthroat,
When you see Shazam in the updates available, it means that you can download this application and install it in your mobile. For this, it is not mandatory to have it installed already.
If you want to install this application, go ahead and install it by updating. If that fails you can also try installing the same by downloading the same from OVi store too.
If you dont need to install the application, you can ignore that update

  • No updates through Ovi Suite

    Hi all,
I am running the latest version of Ovi Suite for my Nokia C3-00.
My C3 still has SW version 03.61 and I suspect that some issues can be resolved through firmware update 7.20.
Unfortunately I can't get the update. I connect to Ovi Suite by Bluetooth without problems. But as soon as I press the update button, it checks the Ovi Suite upadte ( none available, as I downloaded yesterday ) and when it checks for phone updates it says it cannot connect to the service.
Ovi Suite has access to the internet, not blocked by firewall or AVG.
Software updates through phone itself ( FOTA ) will not work either, as the install SW update function is greyed out.
    Help !
    Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  • Ovi maps data update through Ovi Suite A bug?

Don't know if its a problem but the darn Ovi suite keeps prompting to update the maps data in my N97 mini even I have already done it twice. Seems like it just read and check my phone maps data and just erase everything and download all the data over again. Doesn't seems to be optimized. Should have program the updater check the data files size or date tag and just update those outdated files, instead of everything.  If I have a huge maps data in my phone it'll be a loooong wait.
    Anyone having the same problem?
I'm still getting prompt today to update my maps data. Doubt that nokia tech can update their maps data that fast.

  • N97 Firmware updates but Ovi suite and SW update t...

I have updated my firmware to the version 11 twice now. Once using the Ovi suite and once using th PC Suite Software  updater. When I go to the SW update app in my N97 it still says "Phone Software - Important" but the details just say it's the same firmware update I've already gotten. I'm thinking this may hinder my ability to get the new NGAGE, Maps, etc. updates. How do i fix this?
    Thanks for the help!!

try this *#7780# default code is 12345 you will not lose any data, you will have to reset your settings possibly. and then turn the phone off for few minutes. turn in back on , go to the software update in the application folder and refresh the avaliable updates by going to options on the left hand side. see if this will help any
oh and btw you have updated your phone you can check this by *#0000# pluging this in if it is v11 you are good to go

  • Nokia N9 - 600 euros and its Ovi Suite Calendar su...

For a phone priced at 600 euros you would expect to have the same feature as the lesser phone versions released by Nokia.
For how long is Nokia thinking it can fool people with good hardware but lousy software support ?
People will catch up and skip on the Nokia phones.
Untill then, is Nokia saying that a 600 euros phone will not have Calendar synch support in ovi Suit ?

Nokia N9 does not support Ovi Suite, but there is new lightweight and simple to use Nokia Link application for your PC or Mac:  www.nokia.com/nokialink . With this application you can easily  copy photos, videos and music to your N9.
For Outlook contacts and calendar you can use the Mail for Exhange account, that will also synch your email. You can find guidance here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/n9/user-guide?ccf_name=nokia-n9/guide/GUID-6BE14793-...
For directly syncing contacts from your old phone to the N9 you can use the widely compatible contact syncing. You can initiate this from the Phonebook> Options> Import contacts or from the Settings:
    http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/n9/user-guide?ccf_name=nokia-n9/guide/GUID-D546BDA9-...
For preloading maps, you no longer need to have your computer, but can do this directly from the N9's Map application. From the settings you can choose> Manage maps> App maps. There you can preload country maps over WLAN connection.

  • Phone Update via Ovi Suite

While connecting my X3 to Ovi yesterday,Ovi informed that a software update is available.  Updated the software.
However, soon after the update & after receiving numerous text messages, I connected the phone to Ovi (messages were of a legal nature & wanted them backed up), the messages were out of sync.
The person sending the texts is on the same network & also using a Nokia.  The date & times on both phones are correct, yet every text I receive is one hour ahead of the actual time text received, which throws out all timing.
To confirm that this is a software problem, I had my wife connect her X2 to Ovi on her computer - sure enough, an update was available so installed it.
Tested the messaging sync by sending her some texts & the same thing happens on her copy of Ovi, so it's definitely a software problem.
Both computers are running Win 7 Pro 32bit.
It would be nice to see this problem rectified on the next update.

I'm sorry about that, but unfortunately I cannot help you with it.
What you can do though is to contact the reseller and ask them to swap your device since it was clearly not ment for farsi speaking users. This is a problem elsewhere to. Resellers buy phones cheaper and install the language themselvs for the region and sells it like it was ment for the region. What they don't say is that when you update the device you will get the update intenially ment for the device which will remove the added language.
I experienced this ones with a french internetsite which advertised like they had bases in Norway, Denmark and Sweeden selling phones ment for nordic countries. I just called them back and told them what had happened and that they ought to send me a new device. As I clearly knew what they had been up to, they sent me a new one without any further questions. This time it was a correct one.

  • C3 not updating via Ovi suite.

I have a Nokia C3 which has been giving me problems. Restarts, stops responding etc. Someone suggested I update its firmware.
I tried it, but everytime, its stuck on the backup screen. It gets stuck here for hours before finally giving an error, "Sorry, there was a problem backing up your phone"
    A screenshot is attached.

  • Ovi suite always connects thru the mobile, not dir...

I am trying to update the software in my n8-00 to fix a connection problem. (so, I can't connect to internet at this stage thru my mobile) I installed the ovi suite and tried to update it (as mentioned in nokia site as an alternative to updating the nokia software using mobile phone itself) . Ovi suite doesn't connect to internet if the mobile is not connected. when the mobile is connected, it alsways connects thru the mobile. I want to update the ovi suite via the internet connection I already have in my laptop, which is thru the wireless lan. Can some body help me?

If what you mean by 'fix a connection problem' is related to the internet on your mobile..call your operator and request them to send Aceess Points settings.. First delete all the existing Access points from the phone... and when the settings are received ( normally thru' SMS).. open the message and select 'SAVE'... Now see if your connection problem is resolved or not..( without any software update...)
If not then again delete all the Access Points.. Now try the Software update thru' OVI suite.. Since the settings are deleted.. OVI Suite should use the Internet from the Laptop... Once done.. again open the SMS and select 'SAVE' to set the Access Points...

  • Can't update nokia e72 via ovi suite

So there is "maps data update application" on available updates list. I connect my device via USB, push the "next" button on the updates screen and it says that my sim card is missing when its not. It also says "please change the USB mode on your device to PC suite mode" on the bottom left corner, where the phone pic is, but im already using PC suite mode. Restarted the phone, made sure I'm using General profile - nothing helps. Any ideas whats wrong?

well i have updated my maps and my maps data via ovi suite numerous times, ovi suite is pcsuite+NSU+Maps updater+map loader, its an all in one and if you are using an updated version of maps, it will show you a prompt to update in the software update tab, so basically it does update ur maps version too but in this case i don't really know what the problem is, might be an OS conflict or might be a firmware error too. I recommend that you run ovi suite using adminstrator privileges on vista/7,right click on the program icon and then selct run as adminstrator, diable any antivirus program that you are using and ten try updating using ovi suite. If this doesnt work then please soft reset ur phone using the phone *#7370#, this should fix most firmware glitches, please backup all data on phone memory before performing a soft reset, these steps should fix all problems that you've mentioned.
