Nokia Phones with AT+CMGR support

Hello, I have Nokia 6300, I can send SMS over AT+CMGS command but I'm not able read sms messages from phone over AT+CMGR command. Exists any list of phones with support this feature? Generally, any cross table with list phones and AT commands... I need buy one, but I don't know which model and I want choose from list...

to true.
i think the last report i saw on mac os was that 3.9% of all computers on the web are macs, even linux boxes only make up for around 12%. it would cost a lot of money for nokia to produce usb drivers for macs, and they give this away free to anyone who would like to download it. there are not a lot of companies who do this for software and drivers, for instance motorola give you a limited sync suite that you need to purchase if you want more functionality (plus its horrible).
i think one thing that Karim did not mention is this, iSync actually installs an application onto symbian phones in order to sync. you might want to try installing a client for another symbian device (if it lets you) .
this is the same for other applications such as the god-awful oxygen handset manager thing.
petrib is right, nokia is responsible for the cable drivers, but apple is responsible for the iSync.
as for transferring images etc, there should be nothing stopping you from doing this over bluetooth, or by using a card reader (again i am not sure if mac supports card readers, i cant see any reason why they shouldnt but someone tell me if i am wrong). on a pc you do not need pc suite to do this via bluetooth, you can do it using the software that came with the bluetooth adapter.
when it comes to vibrating alert, i am glad my n90 doesnt have one. it would seriously damage the auto-focussing camera that i buight it for.
for recurring alarms, i am not sure if this will help, but you could set a meeting in the calendar. this has a repeat function and sounds an alarm. but if your needs are different then possibly you may need to purchase an application that does this for you unfortunately.

  • I refuse to buy nokia phone with less than 1500 mA...

I realized this after latest addition of E52 with 1500 mAh battery So far, i have purchased about 30 or so Nokia handsets during past 14 years.
The battery Life of E52 is just marvelous. simply amazing. Cant imaging how I survived 14 years exclusively using Nokia phones with less than 1500 mAh battery.
The new touch screen phones like the latest N-800 with HDMI Port has only 1200 mAh battery!!! why not put a 2100 mAh battery on such a beauty? people are going to use the phones more than just making call, this demands more battery power. 1200 mAh battery will last less than a day.... People, expecially myself will be dissapointed in using such a phone with so less battery power.
Granted these days processors are more efficient, but wont it be good if Nokia puts little more juice to their most beautiful touchscreen handsets?
Having less battery power is the main reason i have been holding off my purchase of touch screen phones like N900, and now this N-8.
Please Nokia, please try to put the best in it's class battery for the best in it's class phones.
Even the iPhone 4G has (1200 mAH) less capacity battery than my E52.
My E52 goes on and on for weeks together without charging. On heavy usage it easily lasts for 1 full week!... (never been like this for any of the previous nokia phones...) especially the top of the end models like my old N82
So far, I am very happy with my E52. Wish some thing similar i.e. slim E series comes with touch screen soon.

    Hello kmschmehl-
I cannot truly express how sorry I am to hear about your total experience with the delivery and subsequent return of this fridge.  It certainly sounds as though Best Buy has put you through the ringer and I can absolutely understand your disappointment and anger with us.
While it sounds like some aspects of the purchase and delivery were at least adequate, any opportunity that we had to show you why you should purchase from Best Buy went by the wayside.  However, Best Buy is not in the business to provide merely adequate experiences and I am saddened that this is the best we could summon for your purchase.  We are capable of better than what we showed you.
I’m glad to hear that you have finally been able to get the assistance you needed to get this refund resolved and make you whole again.  In addition, I do hope that you are enjoying the fridge you purchased at Lowe’s.  I certainly wish that it had been a Best Buy fridge in your kitchen instead, but I can understand why you chose to go with another retailer.
It sounds like the store has you in good hands once your card arrives and I believe that the reason they need the physical card is that the credit card company requires it to be physically scanned for returns.  Hopefully you will not run into any further issues with this refund and it’s my hope that sometime in the future, you might grant us another chance at your business.  I will be sending you a Private Message with some additional details as well.  To check your Private Messages, please log into the forum and click on the envelope in the upper right hand corner.
Please let us know if you run into any further concerns.

  • Any Nokia phones with Threaded Text messaging?

I'm looking for a Nokia phone with threaded text messaging.
Rather like the Palm Centro or Iphone:
Anyone know of a basic model that can do it?
I'm currently lusting after the Nokia 3720 Classic and would love if it could organise messages in a more useful way, and banish my thoughts of bulkier handsets. I've loved my Nokia 6030 for a few years but its disintergrating now.

s60 phones are usually the smartphone family the E and N series all run on s60.
6700 new navigator, the 6220c also runs on s60, 5800xm runs on the new gen for touch screens s60
the lower modesl 1xxxxx,2xxxxx,3xxxx, 5xxxx,6xxx (the 6 family is divided and can either run on s40 or s60 depending on the phone) series usually run on s40 platform.  for every phone you can look up specs and it will tell you which platform or operating system the phone runs on
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....

  • Tutorial - Connecting an Nokia Phone with an iPaq ...

This Tutorial is as a result of a post by qvodude on 13th January 2008.
Tutorial – Connecting an Nokia Mobile Phone to an HP iPaq Pocket PC
This tutorial has been done using a Nokia 6260 (S60 series 2) and an iPaq 5965 travel companion (windows mobile 5).
Turn on the phone and then go to menu>connections>Bluetooth. When you open Bluetooth you are asked to give your phone a name. (I named mine Nokia 6260). Hit ok. Then highlight Bluetooth and select options>change and switch Bluetooth on. Then scroll down to My phones visibility >options > change > shown to all >ok. Your phone is now set up.
Switch on the iPaq. Start > settings > iPaq Wireless and turn Bluetooth on. Then tap done. On the settings page tap on Bluetooth Manager. When you open Bluetooth Manager it gives you a welcome screen. Just follow the instructions. Luckily my phone is in the list so it was fairly simple. If your phone is not in the list then select Generic Dialer or generic generic. The ipaq will then search for devices in range. In my case it picked up my phone and my laptop. I then selected my phone and was asked if I wanted to pair the devices. I said yes accepted the code that was on the screen and then pressed next. A message then appeared on my phone asking if I wanted to pair with my iPaq. I entered the same code that was used on the iPaq and pressed ok. The ipaq then asked if I wanted to connect to the internet and I said no as I did not want to connect at this time.
On my phone if I highlight Bluetooth and scroll right it shows Paired devices > Pocket PC 5965.
I then tested the setup by tapping tools > connect on the iPaq. My phone then asked if I wanted to Accept connection request from pocket PC. I then selected yes and my Pocket PC showed that I was connected to my network (Optus).
I trust that this helps you. If you have any further problems let me know. I will be going away next Thursday 22nd and will not be back until Wednesday 28th. Whilst I am away I will not be in a position to access these forums so if you could get back to me before then I would appreciate it.

  • What Nokia phones with physical numberpad have the...

Can someone tell me which Nokia phones that have a phyisical numberpad/keyboard have the free full versions of the Ovi maps with satellite turn by turn navigation
It's for the wife - she can get used to touch screen - hates Android and Apple + loves Nokia!
I've searched and am unsure - there seem to be some models that in some specs have the navigation and in other simply don't (or not explicitly stated)! I can't remember the exact model names now
Any pointers to the correct phones would be great
+ I would add that it doesn't have to be a 'smart phone' - I'mjust after the turn by turn navigation (and be able to make calls of course!)
    Thanks
    Omar

    @omarm2
Be aware that any of the S60 3rd FP2 devices such as C5-00 or E72 although having free voice navigation are limited to Ovi Maps v3.04 with slightly less detailed map data than devices able to use v3.06 & 3.08.
Happy to have helped forum with a Support Ratio = 42.5

Does anybody know what Nokia phones work with VW's bluettoth telephone preparation option.
I understand that the mobile phone must be RSAP compatible and although there are numerous Nokia handsets with RSAP I need to know which ones definitely work. Thanks

Any phone running Symbian v6.0 and above supports RSAP (Remote Simm Access Protocol).

  • Cheap nokia phone with bluetooth audio

Hi, I'm looking for a cheap Nokia phone that'll work with my car kit for calls. I like the 225 but that doesn't do it apparently. So something similar if possible.
    Ta

    A) Nokia 215, first model of Series 30+ which got Bluetooth HFP added.
    B) Nokia 208, last model of Series 40, even offers stereo-music (Bluetooth A2DP).
If the Nokia 208 is not avialable in your market, please, have a look for the Nokia 301 (Series 40). If you go for the Single-SIM variants of a Nokia Series 40 based phone, you even get Bluetooth SIM-Access which is required by car-kits with external antenna. Another option would be a used Nokia E52 (Symbian/S60) which allows even Internet access for the next couple of years (because it supports SHA-384 hased SSL certificates).

  • Can I sync two Nokia phones with Ovi Suite?

I have 2 different Nokia phones. I'd like to save my data to my PC, so I've just downloaded and installed Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23.
When I connected the second phone successfully, there was a green link that said something like "Get tips on syncing several phones with Ovi Suite". However when I clicked there, nothing happened.
When I click "Help->Nokia Ovi Suite Help" on the toolbar, nothing happens, no help tips.
The first phone synced all 82 photos and Contacts and messages to Ovi Suite.
I created a new album with that phone's name, and dragged those pictures from "All"  to the new album, to try & keep them organized.
When I connected the second phone all of the Contacts synced (there were a lot) and now they are mixed in with the contacts from the first phone. However the photos would not sync. Then a few photos synced, making a total of 156 shown in All (which included the 82 photos from the first phone). When I would click "Sync" nothing visible happened.
But I did see the photos from the second phone on the PC. I did drag them from the PC into the album created with the name of the second phone.
Now when I look at the photo album with the first phone's name, it says "You have no photos or videos in this album, Drag photos and videos to this album." Yikes! But they are still on my PC.
This is very confusing. I agree with the others, Nokia PC Suite worked well, Ovi Suite seems very confused.
Is any of this uploaded to my online Ovi account?
    Thanks for your advice.

    ronni333 & boing,
Somewhere on the nokia ovi website it says you need to use seperate windows logins. Have one login for work and use that when you use ovi to sync your work phone. Other login to sync your personal phone. I lost the link to that webpage, but that is about all it said.
ronni333 - I also had problem with ovi help, the link appeared to be empty. I was using Google Chrome to surf the net. Problem solved by using Internet Explorer instead.
Hope this info helps you guys.
    Cheers,

  • Connect nokia phone with pc using irda

    Hi everybody,
I want to write a java program that will communicate with my nokia 7250i using the ir port. I have already achieved that using nokia pc suite, But i want to create my own application. Firts of all I have to find out how a java program can send data through the ir potr. I guess that java can use ir port as a normal com port but this may be wrong. In order to check this I open hyperterminal and I plug my usb infrared adapter.Hyperterminal cannot see any extra port (it can see only my modem and com3 which is not used by infrared - may be someone know a way to see what is using this port?(1))When I put my phone close to the inrared adapter hyperterminal fids to extra ports com4 and Nokia irda modem. It can not use com4 and when I ask to connect to Nokia irda modem it asks me for a phne number.
Given all the above can somebody suggest me a way for my java program to send data through the infrared adpter?(2)
If you think this is not the thread I should post such topic please propose me onether(3)
Does anybody have a link for similar applications or problems (programs to communicate with phones)(4)
    Thanks in advance

2630 Bluetooth. Can anyone suggest a step by step instruction "How to" to connect my Nokia 2630 to my PC through Bluetooth. I believe this is the only way to download my Nokia 2630 information.
Have to confess - as you can tell already - I'm a bit of luddite and very new to this. I don't know how Bluetooth technology works. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Colin.

if your phone has an older BT firware, i dont think it will ever be updated, i have not seen nokia doing that, i doubt nokia will start doing that, just like S60...
I have not yet seen any nokia phones with BT 2.1 in fact the only nokia devices with BT 2.1 are 2 headsets that are not even released yet, the BH-103 Stereo HS and BH-703...
and any nokia phone having A2DP does not mean it will support BT 2.1 and/or be able to upgrade to it...

  • Bluetooth 3.0 + HS in Nokia phones?

Does anyone know if any of the Nokia phone models up-to-date support Bluetooth 3.0 + HS (i.e. using 802.11b/g/n as the air interface for the data transfer)?
Product pages are or may be a bit imprecise on this subject, e.g. about Nokia E7 it is only said it has Bluetooth 3.0.

To my knowledge there are no Nokia phones to date that support 3.0 HS certification.
Nokia N8 supported 3.0, but not the High Speed. You may notice that with the N9, Nokia actually took a step back to bluetooth 2.1.
An interesting (however not so fresh) article on this: http://www.gsmarena.com/wireless_n_bluetooth_3_speed_test-review-551p4.php

  • N95 + Ovi = worth buying a non-Nokia phone ?

    Hello !
I'm quite a new Nokia user, and was quite satisfied with my N95 (mobile operator : Orange France, but product code modified in order to get latest firmware without waiting), until I decided playing with Ovi (Suite, Player, Store...). First, I checked whether a firmware update was available. I'm pretty sure I was not asked anything before the update was launched. Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I made a mistake, but... :/ Well, now, I lost all my apps. Ok, Let's re-install them... After having install the Ovi Store app on my mobile, I thought everything would be easy : I already have an account on Ovi, I have the latest firmware (v35.0.002). What could go wrong ?
Instead of an easy and straightforward process, I'm in front of a wall : the OviStore mobile app is buggy : it displays the homepage ok, but when I select an application, I get an error message that tells me to check my login and password (in french), eventhough the "Account" menu offers me a "Disconnect" option, which means I'm already logged in.
Ok, I decide trying through the web site. But... uh oh... no more way to downloading applications... Ok, I'll "send it to mobile". I'm logged in, so my tel number is pre-filled. I receive an SMS with a link... Click on the link... Click on the "Download" button in the info sheet... Uh oh... It launches OviStore... Same error.
Result : using a (quite) high-end N95 Nokia phone, with a brand new firmware results in... not being able to install anything. Some kind of ironic advertisement for *pple's AppStore ?
    Yann, deceived.

... and when I click on the "Assistance" (means "Support") link, I get a **bleep** php error... And when I try accessing Nokia Music through Ovi Suite, I get a nice page in some scandinavian language, maybe finnish... Great, really great...

Please suggest me which phone should I buy?
(Actually I am planning to buy Nokia 6233).
Will this phone perfact for all above features.
Please make sure there shouldn't be any problem with any feature.
    Please suggest me.
Your advice/reply would help me in buy the phone.
    Thanks
    Deepak

The 6233 is a great phone with the latest firmware installed but the original firmware is very buggy. You should check the firmware version currently installed on the phone before you buy by inserting the battery and pressing *#0000# on the phone. The phone will then display the installed firmware version. The original very buggy firmware is v. 3.70. I wouldn't buy a 6233 with that firmware unless you are prepared to immediately go to a Nokia Care Center to get the firmware upgraded which they will do for free. The latest firmware is 4.91. I had tons of problems with 3.70 but so far 4.91 has been fine. (Except for the display backlight timeout not being adjustable which is something intentional (and very stupid) that Nokia did.) I hope they get sued over it when it causes a motor vehicle accident.
    Currently using 6300 & 6233 (backup)
