Nokia!! Plz do something for N97: Edit labels!

I cant beleive that the most common and simple feautres is vanished from this BigBang of Nokia 97?
I cant even edit my phonebook labels ... Nokia plzzzzzzzzzz... I have under University title: 4 numbers: one for HR. another for Finance , onther for Reception...etc... when i open my contact i dont know which one belong to which section... have i create new contact for each departement for the same University?
I used to this in Nokia N95 8GB and it is available in every small mobile phone.. How Nokia forgot to install this feature??? HOoooOoOooow? I regret to pay so much money for this Nokia only for this small problem....
You can do it.. Do it Then! Upgrade it next time plz with this feautre.... otherwise i wil not recommend it to any one...
I am so angry and disspointed........

Missing your edit label? huh?
umm let me see here... you mean
Contacts > Options, Open > Options, Edit > then Add detail?
I know...  a lot of trouble just to edit contacts.
Now if you can't do what I just did and it's "missing" somehow then... "NOKIA RMA"
...IF...
That's not what they are saying... They want to edit the *LABEL*. You used to be able to do this on older phones like the N95.
Add detail just lets you pick from a list of *preset* labels.
For example I used to have three mobile numbers for my girlfriend. One was her personal mobile, so that was the label "Mobile", one was a work mobile so "Mobile (Work)" and the third was a mobile they used on a rota for on call, which I called "Mobile (On Call)".
On the N97 you *cannot* create that third label, it's not on the list and you can't edit!

or else people will lose hope on nokia phones.

Adobe have so far failed to create a version of flash that works on iOS, and it is unlikely that we will ever get flash on the iPad (or iPhone or iPod Touch) : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/
Depending on what sites you are trying to access, you might find that some of them (probably more so if they are news sites) have their own apps in the App Store which might let you get some of the content that you want (and there is the built-in YouTube app). Also there are browsers such as Skyfire which 'work' on some sites - but judging by the reviews not all sites. If you want to play flash games then you are probably out of luck if you want to play on-line though the iSwifter app might work on some of them, but again some flash games have app versions in the store.

    Mikael

    Hi Mikael
I have purchased the ABBY 2.0. When i downloaded it to N97 it said that the software is not compatiable with N97. I still went ahead with the same. It does recognise and sorts the business card but the camera is not initiated from the ABBY Application. I have to click a normal picture and then go to ABBYY and select the image and process.... Is it how it is supposed to work ?

  • Still no edit labels in n97

We hoped that Nokia will response to many posts asking to put in consideration (Editing Labels in Contact) as in N95 8GB and even in n86... why we cant enjoy this important feature in this marvelous flagship Nokia? I stopped using my Nokia N97 for this small reason and returned to my old N95 8GB; in n97, each time i want to a call a company under which i put many phones or mobiles.. now i dont know which # belongs to whom? i was obliged to put 6 or 7 different contacts for one company ....
    But we still waiting ....

Not that I want to be negative but, given the HUGE list of issues on the N97 I would doubt that you will ever see this request coming to light.

    What happened?

The following statement was released RE: the removal of Maps 3.0 for N97:
The Ovi Maps 3.0 version for touch devices (Nokia N97) is temporarily not available via the Nokia Software Update and www.nokia.com/maps website as we are making adjustments to further improve the overall maps and navigation experience. There are already several threads on here about Mac compatibility with the N97 series.  Have a look through them to see if anyone has found a work-around.
You'd be best advised to check compatibility of products with Macs before buying as they don't seem particularly well supported by anyone, especially Nokia.
Although they are working on a Mac version of Ovi Suite 2, I doubt it's on anyones list of priorities.

  • How do you mute using the nokia headset for N97

When using the nokia provided headset with the N97, how can you mute the call. I see there is a slider button on the side of the control unit, but I have tried using this to no avail. to mute i have continued ot use the phone controls, which almost negates the point of using a headset in the first place.
    thanks

I do not know how to mute it using the headset, but AFAIK the slider button on the headset was to keypad lock the headset control piece.

After I suffered a lot from N97 I sold it today with half of its price I lose 300U$    and I didn't able to utilize it even with the last update software still hanging which force you to format and loosing all your data such as notes, contacts, programs.. nokia care and free 800 where useless
I feel that I get red of it.. I feel sad from Nokia...
Dose N900 Contacts have edit label feature?? and all other Nokia Symbian features are they exist on the Maemo OS?
I need to decide to go to with Nokia or look for different Company ?

i do not have a N900 in my hands yet, but have 3 on order!
however, try this video by the Maemo team for the contacts and see if it gives you better knowledge so you can decide.
all the beta testors that i have conversed with say that the contacts is very good and even integrates skype seemlesly.

    Dear Nokia Careline,
The "No Return Policy" already be used here. Seem that I have no choice to go for other alternatives. Maybe I have to file the case to our local authority i.e. Tribunal Court Claim to exercise my consumer right here.
Perhaps, further blogs at Nokia discussion column, facebook, twitter might help to let others understand more about so-called Nokia Careline entertain their loyal customer.
If you insist your stand there, then I am always ready to go for my alternatives.
I won't let go unless you could satisfy me.

    Dear Mr. X,
    We appreciate your prompt reply.
We will be noting for concern as a feedback. However, please be informed Mr. Tan that Nokia has noted in the box regarding the said case.
The outage experienced by our sub-supplier was quite unexpected. Typically, the lead time for components such as this one is fairly long, and one cannot react to sudden changes at short notice. We value our relationship with our suppliers and sub-suppliers, and know that our sub-supplier is doing everything in their power to remedy the situation and return to regular supply.
The lack of TV out should not affect any other device functionalities besides that you will not be able to show/transmit pictures or video to external monitor/screen.
As Nokia does not have a replacement policy, we suggest to check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding exchanges.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

    Dear NOKIA CARELINE,
Yap, you can tell me leaflet included & a tiny label on the pack box. But who will really check every single area of the pack box & read the whole manual or leaflet when they decided to buy the phone. What normally customer will check is the handphone and the accessories. Now you are telling me that customer have to check everything even they  buy something from a reputable company like Nokia. If I going in a shop that sell a China like Nokia 5800 handphone and I bought it then I won't have a say here at all.
I have checked with my retailer they allow me to return the unit but I can't get full refund from them. They are going deduct a couple of hundred cause they said the unit is considered used unit now. According to them instead of asking customer to wait they prefer to refund the customer. So who is going to bear for the cost now.
I certainly frustrated by getting a unit that without TV out function. If you are telling me that once manufactured the feature could not be added in, then I would say if you do have a unit with TV-out feature now you could exchange directly to your customer. Why still ask your loyal customer like me to refer to dealer or retailer. Is that what you mean after sales service or NOKIA CARELINE. You don't even care in the first place.
Your apologies certainly couldn't be accepted with reason of Nokia did include leaflet to inform and tiny sticker at the bottom of the pack box. Sound irresponsible to me at all.
What I wanna your care now, that is pls exchange a unit with TV-out feature with mine in which without such feature. Do I really put the CARELINE into difficulty position. Your reply to me is highly appreciated and also to show that you care or don't care.
    Regards,

    Dear Mr. X,
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
    Greetings!
In response to your inquiry, please be informed Mr. Tan that due to a component shortage, a limited number of Nokia 5800 Xpress Music has been manufactured without the TV-out functionality. It is possible that you have one of these devices. In that case, the sales package should have a sticker on the package and a leaflet inside the package that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Also, the TV-out cable has been removed from the affected sales packages.
Kindly take note Mr. Tan that it is not possible to add the feature after the device has been manufactured. Therefore we have labeled the affected sales packages with a sticker and included a leflet that inform about the lack of TV-out functionality. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
The new batch of phones should have the feature back. As this matter is clearly stated in the sales package, it is not possible to return to Nokia. However, you may check with your dealer if they have a policy regarding the return of the unit in exchange for a version that has the TV-out feature. Those individuals who wish to have the TV-out functionality should wait for a sales package that that has it again.
    Apologies for any inconvenience.

I tried to check the manual & pack box then only noticed a small label on the pack box stated no TV out supported. The retailer informed me that they only aware about this when I complained to them. I checked the discussion blogs, some stated because of worldwide component shortage so such function being omitted. I can't accept such explanation because I feel like I was being cheated by Nokia. Am I buying a pirated product now. Oh come on, how could Nokia so irresponsible to deliver the product with imcomplete function since TV out in general or ealier batch was included. Could you imagine if next time the product is delivered without GPS function, camera support, wifi & etc. by giving excuses of worldwide component shortage. • Why sports tracker not available for N97

Why sports tracker not available for N97? One of the most expensive nokia phones without sports tracker. Its weird.. nokia whats happening, dont disappoint N97 customers

A quick google or a look in Betalabs will tell you that Nokia diverged Sports tracker last year so it is no longer "Nokia" http://runningdigital.com/2009/10/21/nokia-sports-tracker-update-sports-tracking-technologies/
Nothing on their site yet http://www.sportstrackingtechnologies.com/, but presumably something will pop up on Ovi Store in the future.

  • Need the V20 firmware for N97!!!

Hey Nokia, you announced the latest firmware to be available in october, but we are in the late october now and still no V20 available for N97...I`m very dissapointed on this fact, because I spent a lot of money buying this phone!Maybe you forgot to mention what october...2010,2011 or else???Don`t let us wait so much, pls!!!This phone really needs updating...its look is far different from its performance and I think every N97 user agree with this. Can`t wait for the update! No offence still!

I think it is wrong to count down the days, v20 will come when it comes. Past experience should teach you Nokia may well release it in December. They will do so when THEY are ready and in the mean time they will not confirm or deny anything, that is the way they are.
If i make a commitment to do something next Friday, then realise by Wednesday that I will not be able to, I would contact you and explain why and the estimated delay, basic manners !!! Nokia will not.
But Rant on if it makes you feel better, like it or not, that is all you will achieve. Actually No! you will not feel better untill you get v20. It wont fix the bugs you hoped it would and it starts all over again.
Here is an idea. Get used using your 97 as it is. Dont update to v20 because you will only get frustrated learning ways to overcome the newe flaws in it. Shut this forum down and live happily ever after.

I would add to that , once you have selected the contact and edit , you need to select options and add detail ! You can then add as many numbers as you wish . However be careful if adding company numbers as if you have several contacts working at the same company it will cause problems with caller id as the phone will not know who is calling if you have the same number attached to several contacts !
