Nokia presenets its new flagship phone the 'N97'

Quite shocking and surprising that none here has bothered to update others about nokia's new i-phone.... oh i mean i-phone competition........

Ladies and Gents brace yourself as Nokia presents its new flagship phone the 'N97'
The N97 packs a 3.5-inch, 640 x 360 pixel (that's a 16:9 aspect ratio) resistive touchscreen display with tactile feedback and QWERTY keyboard into this sliding communicator with an "always open" window to favorite internet or social networking sites. Nokia calls it the "world's most advanced mobile computer." To back up the claim they've dropped in HSDPA, WiFi, and Bluetooth radios, A-GPS, a 3.5-mm headjack, 32GB of onboard memory with microSD expansion (for up to 48GB total capacity), and a battery capable of up to 1.5 days of continuous audio playback or 4.5-hours video. 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss glass and "DVD quality" video capture at 30fps, too. The specs are certainly impressive, let's see if the S60 5th Edition OS can support it.

If I wiped my phone I wouldn't have the contacts on my phone to send to my self. I would need to take just the contacts from my back up. I would have to do this through iTunes and I don't see how I can just extract the contacts only from my back up. From what I can figure out it is all or nothing

RSS/news reader for the N97 Mini?

I use Google Reader a lot for keeping up with news and developments in my field.
However, it's a real pain to access Google Reader through the built-in browser in the N97 Mini. And there seems to be no simple, straightforward way to insert all the feeds (on my gReader account) into the phone.
Are there any news reader (RSS, Atom) applications for Symbian/Nokia phones that you would recommend?
There are many excellent free RSS-reader apps for the iPhone and Windows Mobile, but I can't seem to find a half-decent one for Nokia phones. Even a search on Ovi Store only brought up two. Both are not free and don't have spectacular reviews. (If I'm going to pay for it, I want to know it's a great, bug-free application first!)

the best out there is currently google reader. its not an online app, but more of a webpage, the interface is similar to the full blown google reader. visit www.google.com/reader from the default web browser.

i think it's hard time nokia shud release something good for thr N97 as they are already losing ppl's interests in thr devices as well as market is no more going to be one sided like before for nokia ..... i have a N97 and am waiting for the V30 to be out ,,but not just anothr bug fix FW ,, i as a user of the phone really really expect something great with this FW,,something that the hardware on 97 can still support i guess....

I want to synchronise my diary by blutooth not a usb! previous phone(nokia) no prob, new fancy phone no go!

I have previously used a nokia phone with blue tooth to instantly synchronise with my outlook on laptop. having upgraded to i phone recently and succesfully synched using the USB lead I am very surprised to find I cannot set I phone to automatically synch by blu tooth when my laptop is switched on. Any suggestions?

Wait until tomorrow and see if any new feature is announced, ask for it here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html, or use a cloud service, such as Mobile Me or Google to sync your calendars wherever you are, not just near your computer.

Is Nokia releasing a new firmware for the E72?

After the bugs introduced with the latest firmware (no company search, SMS and calls recepction,...), does anybody know if Nokia has plans to fix them in a new firmware release?

I thought that I read that Symbian^2 will run three times as efficiently as Symbian^1, if that is true then the N97 should be able to handle an update to Symbian^2. If this is possible, do N97 owners think Nokia should provide an update to Symbian^2 for the N97?
I certainly think they should. As a gesture it would go along way in rebuilding my confidence with Nokia, done well it would make the N97 the flagship device that it should have been.
Any other thoughts?
P.S. It would also be a great PR move if Nokia officially announced their intentions, rather than the frustrating silence and resulting unofficial speculation.

I do agree with you froschy, specially that I heard that they said, at the very beginning of N97 release, that N97 will support the future symbian platform.
Let's wait and see any official word from Nokia.

Problem with safari on new i phone

i am having a problem with safari on my new i phone the address bar is covering up some of the top of the web page and it will not let me scroll up any more has any els had this problem and can any on help

I too, am having problem with SAFARI.
I have been unable to log in my Flickr account. I did succeed the first day and then...it just idle and no connection with site.
The ZOOM problem has occurred to me in a couple occasions. I did close the browser and re-opening it did fix it. Miracle or need a fix??

Here is what most of us have been waiting for, some news on NEW feature phones for Verizon. Well here we have it, over at phone arena they have pictures of the upcoming LG Cosmos 2! Along with the Cosmos 2, there will also be another new feature phone, the Samsung Convoy 2. Im a fan of flip phones myself so im a bit more excited to see what the Convoy 2 has to offer, but for you qwerty board users, what do you think of the Cosmos 2???

Why do i have to pay $100 more than a new customer for the new 3gs

This has nothing to do with customer loyalty and has everything to do with subsidized phones. You must fulfill your existing contract requirement for an existing subsidized phone before you are eligible for upgrade or the fully subsidized price with a new phone. The same applies with every carrier in regards to subsidized phones. The has been standard policy with every carrier in the U.S. in regards to subsidized phones for the last 10 years plus.

hi mate, have you checked you are up to date with the latest firmware on your device and that you are up to date with the latest Nokia system app updates from the Store? try performing a soft reset also, and that there doesn't appear to any markers of physical damage to the headphone jack/other parts of your phone.

It doesn't sound like you "changed" your Apple ID, sounds like you created a new one. Bad idea. All content bought with an Apple ID is forever tied to that ID. The ID that bought the content is the only ID that can update the content. Apple does not merge IDs not does Apple transfer content from one ID to another.
