Nokia Purity (in-ear) - the solution to bad sound ...

I read a lot of review about bad sound on the Nokia Lumia phones but I tried various hifi headphones on it and it was amazing. The main issue is that you cannot equalize the sound to match your headset. I wanted a headset with controls and microphone that could match my hifi headphones, and I decided to try these. The packaging is amazing and the design matches the Lumia 800 (black) and everything feels high quality. There are many shapes of earpads for them to match your ears.
I first tried the ones that are already on them, and I found the bass too high. Then I changed the pads and got too little bass. Then I tried some pads in between and the sound is perfect
So even if you cant change the bass on the phone itself, you now can by changing the pads on the headset.
I will comment more on sound quality as they get "broken in".

Smiley,
What you suggest isn't really a SOLUTION to bad iDVD photo quality, because you aren't creating a DVD that can be played back with a DVD player.
You are simply suggesting an alternate approach for distributing slideshows which requires the receiver have a computer. iPhoto/iMovie give you several options on prepairing slideshows/movie for various methods of distribution (CD, email, etc).
Some DVD players will also play jpg files from a CD or DVD and that avoids the mpg-2 compression quality loss, but a TV set image is still a TV set image.
which gives you over 90 pictures for a 10 MB slideshow
A lot of email programs aren't happy with a file that size, and of course, since you have created a QuickTime movie, your PC friends will also need to install QuickTime. The Flip4Mac Studio application will let you convert your QuickTime movie to a WMV movie for those with PCs.
I'm glad you found an approach that you are happy with.
If you open the file in Quicktime and got to Window > Show Movie Info, you will see that it lists each JPEG within the package, along with a transition component. It doesn't compress the images into a video file, but rather references the original images within the .Mov package
BTW, there are several different CODECs that can be used in the .MOV file container - Photo JPEG is just one.
QuickTime Pro offers more saving options than the standard version, so I recommend you invest in QuickTime Pro. You will be able to create your slideshow directly in QuickTime Pro.

  • The SOLUTION to bad iDVD Photo Quality

I have been a fairly silent member of this forum for a long time now, and have seen many supposed "solutions" with the known issue of how iDVD compresses, and ultimately destroys, image quality in DVDs. Granted, much of this compression is normal, considering a full-quality photo from iPhoto looks quite different after being smashed into the standard NTSC 720x480 format of a DVD and compressed to a variation of MPEG-2. That being said, this workaround has been well-tested, and will give you a very high quality slideshow that you can play on your TV. (take note that low quality TV will come into play in making the final product look bad, not the slideshow itself!)
NOTE: I only tested this in iPhoto 6/iDVD 6 on a 10.4.8 PowerMac G5. I would love to get confirmation it works on Intel Macs and other machines.
    1. Select an album or group of pictures in iPhoto
    2. Go to File > Export and click the Quicktime tab
    3. You will have several options...
    - Width/Height: Defaults to 640x480 (4x6 image). This will result in about 100kb per image file, which gives you over 90 pictures for a 10 MB slideshow that you can e-mail to your friends.
    - Display image for: Obviously controls how long each image is displayed in the slideshow.
    - Background: Can be an image or a color. This is what you will see as a border if the slideshow image is smaller than the window.
    - Music: This is actually kinda complicated. What is the "currently selected music?" When you select an album and press the "Play" button to do a quick slideshow, there is a tab for Music. Whatever is selected here will be added to the slideshow when you export it.
    4. Click 'Export', choose the filename and location, and then save it.
The resulting Quicktime file will be quite small, while still retaining the quality of your images. It uses a default crossdissolve transition that can't be changed. It keeps this quality when you drag the Quicktime file into iDVD and burn a disk/save a disk image.
    Downsides...
    - no ken burns
    - can't use different transitions
    - no other advanced slideshow options
But it gets the job done! If you're wondering why this works while other methods don't, it's all in the .Mov container that's created. If you open the file in Quicktime and got to Window > Show Movie Info, you will see that it lists each JPEG within the package, along with a transition component. It doesn't compress the images into a video file, but rather references the original images within the .Mov package! Cool huh?
Let me know if this works for you guys. I've offered this advice to many people with good results, which is why I'm posting it here.

  • Nokia Purity Stereo Headset by Monster Compatibili...

Hey guys just looking into info if the Nokia Purity in ear headset is compatible with the Lumia 920? I'm after full ability to change tracks, pause, answer calls and toggle volume.
I keep getting different answers. Some say yes some no and some say no to start with but now yes due to a recent driver update by nokia. So a final answer would be good before wasting $100+.
If the answer is no suggestions of any other in ear headset with works in such a way would be handy.
    Thanks in advance.

All you will get here are experiences and guesses. Nokia does not repspond to posts here. You best bet would be Nokia Care.

  • Nokia Purity Stereo In-Ear Headphones (Discontinue...

    Hello,
What In-Ear Headphones now work with a Nokia 920?  When I first got it, all of my iPhone compatable headsets didn't work so I had to get the Nokia ones. Now they are broken (even with VERY light use) - no surprise there - I am looking to replace them.
Nokia had their own (non) standard for headsets, so where can I go to find stuff that will work.  I only need something so I can make phone calls, that sounds good and hopefully doesn't suffer from the sub-par noise that the Purity headset did.
    Thanks

Yes, my point exactly. Forgive me, I should have used the word common, instead of standard.
When you go to a store and want to buy a headset for your mobile, which "standard" are you most likely to see supported?  Of all the headphones available today for mobile phones, what percentage of them support Apple vs OMTP?  An not those $4.95 cheap things, I'm talking about a decent headset.
The headset that worked with my HTC Titan no longer worked with my 920, in fact after a great deal of searching I only found one decent headset that did, the above mentioned Nokia Purity. So what if it supports a new open standard that no one uses, how did that help me?
The worst thing about this headset is that they were cheap plastic with a terrible mic that suffers from too much wind noise - problems fixed in other manufacturers a long time ago - and because they were made by Monster, they were twice as expensive as they needed to be. I used them gingerly a handful of times and still they broke on me - which was expected.
So a year later, I want to move on and I am here to find out what I can move on too. Neither my Spyder True Voice or my NOCS work. I tried the converter route, didn't work. When I go to Amazon and type in OMTP or AHJ Headset nothing decent shows up. Now the only set that did work are discontinued - so back to my original question, what do I do now?

  • Nokia Purity red on-ear headphones

Does anyone have an idea of where to buy the red version of Nokia Purity by Monster WH930 headphones? (not the pro-version) There seems to be not a single physical store in Belgium nor an online store that sells them...
Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Nokia 700 and Nokia Purity WH 920 Earphones

    Hi,
I've recently purchased a Pair of Nokia Purity earphones and low and behold... when I plug them into the Nokia 700... "Accessory Not Supported" comes up.
I think this is potentially a growing trend with Nokia Belle devices. I'm absolutely shocked that I can't even use them as a standard pair of earphones with the phone without mic/volume control.
I've tried it with my Nokia E52 to see if it were the headphones, and unless I hold down on the answer button on the remote control, I don't get the full sound.
This reminds me of when I bought a pair of Logitech Ultimate Ears for my Nokia E7 and it worked great (even though I couldn't use the volume control on the pair) until I upgraded to Belle and then it said "Accessory Not Supported".
Does anyone know if there's a software patch available for Belle that will allow me to use the ear phones? This is all starting to get ridiculous!
    Solved!

Take a closer look at the cable, it's probably not for size and same as the one supplied with the purity earbuds.  I have to use it to get sound from my N9, without it I get nothing.
    Here's a pic of it.

  • Why is the iPhone so BAD at connecting back to mobile networks?

Reading various threads it would seem that Apple gave up sometime ago making a device that actually works well at mobile connectivity. Their antennae technology must be as out of date as their map data or as poorly tested.
Quite often I come out of the tube or a lift and have "no service". This I accept but it seems to take a lifetime for the phone to realise a signal is available. It could be down to mobile mast registration so is really a network issue but a 4 year old bog standard Nokia phone seems to cope ok getting a signal at places an iPhone can only dream of and shows the fact that it has a signal in a heart beat.
A fix I have found is to make a call. If no signal is available then rightly this will not work but if the iPhone is just being as intelligent as a household brick this seems to do the trick triggering mobile mast registration or the phone to wake up and hey presto i have 3 bars of connectivity increasing to 5 as i get more into the open. However, this does not seem to work just by triggering a data request, you just get the "no Internet" available warning.
So either calls register the device quicker which would make some sense as they can use GSM or the device always tries to make a call triggering a search but if no service is recorded never tries to search so it can send data.
Regardless of which, why is the phone so BAD at detecting and registering with networks after all this is the raison d'être of a mobile device.
Do we ever think the Apple will stop for a moment adding meaningly upgrades and examine this boring but fundamental requirement?

but,i already put the volume to higher posible ( full volume )..

Some devices may need to have their software reset in order to see the latest benefits, or to resolve other potential problems. - Ensure you have the latest version of Nokia PC Suite. - Backup your device memory to your PC using Nokia PC Suite - Copy your files (music, videos, documents, images etc) from the Nokia N91 hard drive to your PC (use of USB mass storage recommended). - Copy any original SISX, Java, etc. installation files for your applications, themes, etc. from your Nokia N91 hard drive or memory card to your PC. (Do not simply copy over the installed directories/files.) - If your device has an internal hard drive, format your Nokia device’s hard drive by selecting Tools > Hard drive > Options > Format hard drive > Quick format (instructions are also in user the guide). - After the device has completely started up again, reset your device memory by selecting Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > General > Orig. Phone Settings and entering 12345. - Restore your device memory from your PC using Nokia PC Suite by selecting Backup from the PC Suite menu and then selecting Restore. - Copy any hard drive or memory card contents from your memory card or PC back to your clean hard drive or memory card. - Re-install your applications/themes. • Nokia Purity Stereo InEar Headphones - Only workin...

I have a set of Nokia Purity Stereo InEar headphones that I was given for my B-day in November. Yesterday they started just playing content in Mono (ie the right hand speaker no-longer works...) Everything else works. I have tested it in a number of audio jacks and its definitely not working. There does not seem to be any support for these on the Nokia or Monster Purity website, it just sends me to some random page with twitter and facebook links and this discussion.
Anyone got any ideas or guidance?

    @ashmonsterr
Although this applies to Lumia 920 Euro version, in as much as Start/Stop, change track, volume + & - there are no issues using WH-920 with my 920; as I decline Microsoft terms for voice control I can't say for this function.

  • Do The New Nokia N97's Have The Latest Firmware Ru...

Do the new nokia n97's have the latest firmware running on them (V20) or do i have to upgrade it after it arrives?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

That depends how long it has been since the phone left the factory? It is possible that some retailers have a stock that is very big, so that the phones that they sell right now have a firmware that is a few months old...

Ha ha, you are right!  I didn't even think to look there.

Are you having any issues with your N86?  My reception is not as good as the other N82's I have owned (no reception in my house now) and also it drops calls quite often.
I also find the camera can be slow and blurred - again the N82 always took great pictures.

  • Get-WMI Object (0x800706F7) - The stub received bad data

    Hello there,
i have an problem related to the above error..
When i do a remote wmi call and pass the credentials like this (from an script)
    $passS =[ServerEye.PowerShellAPI]::Decrypt($pass)
    $securePass = convertto-securestring $passS -asplaintext -force
    $credential = New-Object System.Management.Automation.PsCredential("$domain\$user",$securePass)
$buffer = gwmi -Query "select * from Win32_PerfFormattedData_MSExchangeRpcClientAccess_MSExchangeRpcClientAccess" -Credential $credential -Authentication Default -ComputerName $computer -ErrorAction Stop
i sometimes get the above error with the stub received bad data...
When i open a new powershell and do the wmi request it works.. When i close the powershell.exe and execute the above code again from the same script it works. But sometimes (totally) random this issue occurs for the existing powershell.exe process and will
never go away till i close the process (which is not option, since i am using a deamon which runs script from a queue folder.. and this deamon runs for a long time..
When i restart the server.. this issue never occurs for a long time but then suddenly reoccurs.
Anyone has an idea? I found one similar thread, but in this the solution was to pass the credential data in a server\user format or an domain\user format, which i am doing
Is this a bug? Is this an scripting flaw from my side? What can i do against it... Any help would be really cool!!

Thank you in advance for your answer. This is somehow what i expected..
Sadly those are not our own servers. They are from a customer that is using our script to monitor several aspects.. and of course the software is always to blame :D (From a customer perspective).
But i will inform the customer because this connection issue could be absolutly possible since i also see powershell sessions that get broken due to server communication..
The only thing i really do not understand is, why it does not "repair" itselfs. What is the difference between closing the powershell.exe or simply re-executing the same get-wmiobject request..  I dont know how get-wmiobject manages its connection..
but shouldn it do a new connection to the remote-server for each call?
