First of all...
Take a look on this Symbian/Smartphone overview :
Nokia 6600 (Year 2002/2003)
Free RAM to use : 9MB
Camera (Video) : 176*144pixels
Use of free RAM : 1-2MB (11-22%)
Free memory to use
(on the same time when using camera) = 7-8MB (78-89%)!!!
Nokia N70 (Year 2005?)
Free RAM to use : 32MB
Camera (Video) : 352x288pixels
Use of free RAM : 3-4MB (9-13%)
Free memory to use
(on the same time when using camera) = 28-29MB (87-91%)!!!
Nokia n73 (Year 2006?)
Free RAM to use : 20MB
Camera (Video) : 352x288pixels
Use of free RAM : 4-5MB (20-25%)

(on the same time when using camera) = 15-16MB (75-80%)!!!
Nokia n95 (Year 2007)
Free RAM to use : 20MB

Use of free RAM : 14-15MB (70-75%)

The phone's are using 0.5-3mb of the free ram too
normal phone functions. This is added to the camera memory
because it will close down running programs if there are
not enough memory to camera + "normal function".
(If some thing is not correct... then tell me!).
Conclusion :
Almost all symbian phones in this overview have
more than 75% of free RAM to programs and "system"
programs, when you are recording a movie, or watching a
recorded movie in gallery.
BUT!: N95 has only 5-6mb (25-30%) of free RAM to this job! :/
What do this mean?
Well for many people they get an ERROR MEMORY message some times.
And for some "heavy" symbian programs users
(that also use "system" programs),
they get this messages ALOT!
I got it 9 out of 10 when I will record a movie or watch one.
And I have ONLY 3-4MB of Symbian "system" programs running!
Well some question's :
01) Is it Nokia's first Symbian smartphone?
02) Could we know/read that the camera will use about
15mb out of 20mb, before we buy the n95?
03) Does Symbian means that u can improve/expand
the functions in the mobile, with new symbian's programs?
04) Are the Symbian system and programs (in 2007)
more RAM hungry then in 2003 (Nokia 6600)?
05) Is it fair to use "system" Symbian programs (3. parts) in n95?
06) Is it fair to multitaske in n95?
07) Would it be fair to use the video camera AND
listen to musik on the same time ...in a device like n95?
08) And how many MB (max),
in a device like n95 and in the year 2007,
is fair to use to Symbian system programs?
09) Does programs and Nokia system funktions (and menu's)
give all memory back when they have been used?
10) If not, would it be fair, too Nokia,
if we say they should knew that?
11) Has ANY mobile (Samsung, SE or Nokia) in the HISTORY
got an RAM improving in the next model version
(like n93 and n93i)?
And it is more than 400% improved free RAM in this case!
12) Well... is Nokia N95 so a FULL symbian smartphone?
Or is is a "HALF"?
13) And if it is a "half" ..what can WE do with this NOKIA mistake?
14) And WHY should WE pay for this Nokia mistake?
My personal opinion is :
That Nokia should give us some money back,
or some thing else, so we will not loose so much when we will try to sell the n95, so we can get a full symbian mobile anno 2007 ...like N95-8GB!
We should could count on that when we buy a
SYMBIAN Smartphone it has enough RAM to run some few programs in the backgound, when we use the built-in camera or galleri in the phone. Why else buy a Symbian phone?
Let us debate!

Well n95 has almost the same camera like the n93 so you mean they are pioneer twise?
And when was it Nokia produced the first symbian smartphone?
And why did they put in less free memory in n95 than n70?
Take a look just on the camera differense. Why less memory?
They have experiense from the n93? the camera use alot of RAM when u record og would see a recorded movie.
14-15 mb out of 20 in a symbian smartphone.
I like n95 but i cant use it like a full symbian smartphone.
Not with this RAM and camera.
I hoped that a firmware will do the trick.
But now I have tryed 2 ...and it is a little worse now.
How will they fix this? They can't.
Therefore the 2 new upgrade model's got 128mb.
Btw: Do u mean 128mb of ram in n95? ...its only 64mb in the old n95.

Please nokia change my N97 for a remake of the n97

Hi I am Cesar Lopez.
I though that if a big amount of people say to nokia, please do something about the N97 in one topic
( like recall forall N97 and give us another handset without so many problems),maybe the listen to all fustrated N97
owners and nokia may do something about it (Iwish) ,but is worth to try.
Please Nokia, change my £500 phone for something that its awesome and useful. I am of having so many problems with my N97, as many of you, I di buy this handset trusting on nokia, with greatexpectations and ilusions about it.
Even when I got it and I saw all the bugs I though that all bugs would be fixedquickly, but I keep getting even more
and more errors. Battery only charge up to 2 bars, phone switch off itself, applications crashing,
camera lense scratch by cover, a-gps accuracy its terrible, signal reception for calls and internet its worse than
N95-8GB and N73 and 6680, and some other things that it made me want to through the handset out of
the window, if it wasn't because is a £500 handset.
Also, I don’t know if you notice the problem with the contacts, which if you bring the contacts from the sim it would not give you the name of the person but the number, and if you store all your contacts in your phone memory, with details and/or pictures phone memory would be eaten, and the phone become unusable. Some of these issues may be fixed by nokia either if they fix or they replace the handset.
But some other issues like camera lenses scratched by cover, a-gps, deficiency reception, lack of phone memory etc.., and those problems would never go away; therefore if nokia does not do anything about it would be selling a curse rather than a blessed phone, as all those faults would be forever.
Please, all N97 users that are somehow with me answer to this topic saying at the top of the message. “Please nokia change my N97 for a remake of the n97”, and maybe nokia would do something.

Quicktime : how to encode a video for the N95

I have a N95 8Go and a Mac...
I use Quicktime Pro to encode videos and I want to make H.264 videos for my N95. Sadly, all videos I've created can't be read by N95's Real Player (audio/video error).
How can I do ?

Why no ASR (Automatic Screen Rotation) for the N95...

I saw that Nokia implemented the ASR for the upcoming version of the N95 8GB, v.20.0.016
Why wasn't it implemented in v.21.0.016 of
the N95-1 (RM-159) ?
Will it be implemented in the final version? (i hope)

Well I don't think any of us like not having automatic screen rotation. Although I'd rather if there was an option to change the way the screen rotates. For example, the screen splashes like water or something that's more interesting than a boring "blink".

Who has the phone unlocking code for an N95 to ope...

I'm awaiting my N95 unlocking code from Orange because they say Nokia have to issue it. But my girlfriend asked for her N95 code from her network (Vodafone) the day after and was given it straight away, after giving the customer services rep her IMEI number. So are the codes issued to the networks from Nokia upon request, or do the networks already have all the codes?

I hope you bought this from a store, you can return it and get your money back. BUT if you bought from a person off the street or off the net, someone you don't know... I'm thinking you just got screwed! And are out the money and have an expensive paper weight. I hope I'm wrong, but I think you have a stolen iPod. If you can find the person that sold it to you return it and get your money back, but I'm thinking they are long gone. If you can not find the person report it to the police and turn it over. Sorry and Good luck.

Obtaining the Sim unlock code for my N95 (Who has ...

I have asked Orange for my N95 to be unlocked so that I can use my my work sim card which is on another network. The application was made on the 2/03/08 and payment was taken immediately the request was made. I was told that it would take a maximum of 10 days to supply me with the unlock number. It is the 22/03/08 and I have not received the number. I do not want to leave orange in any way I just want to be able to use the handset for work instead of using two handsets.
They have told me that they have applied to Nokia for the code. Who has the code Nokia or Orange? And how long should it take
Any help would be appreciated

It is the network's responsibility to provide its users with SIM-unlock codes.
As for how long it takes, if you're still within the period when you have to pay them to unlock the phone then I don't know. If you've had it for long enough for the operation to be free then they should be able to give you the unlock code over the phone. I've had 5 phones unlocked that way and I've always been given the codes over the phone.

Clear case for a N95-3 US version?

Evening everyone. I have just picked up a N95 3g US version (not 8g model). I think I would like to get one of the clear snap on cases, but want to make sure I get one that fits.
The models I find are either for the N95-1 or the 8GB model. Will the N95-1 fit my US version?

I think the differences between a N95-1 and your US model, which is the N95-3, are not in dimensions.
The only thing you have to be careful about is that the N95 8GB is a bit thicker, so those cases won´t fit your N95.

Can anyone recommend a decent case for the N95?

I always keep my phones in cases, to protect the screens, and I bought one with my N95, but it only covers part of the screen.
Without wanting to advertise anyone - I've used Krusell cases for years now, but their case for the N95 seems awkward, because you seem to have to open a flap somehow to operate it... this obviously sounds like a nightmare.

If the machine was upgraded to Lion 10.7.x by the original owner then you bought an illegal license of Lion and also of any other applications that the seller said came pre-installed, this assumes the seller did not include original install media. In that case you need to contact the seller for the original install DVDs that came with the machine re-install up to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then purchase Mountain Lion ($20) and the applications you want or need. If the seller cannot come up with the original install discs then you can buy them from a nominal cost from AppleCare..

Is there a way for a site owner to copy a custom calendar that resides on a site on one site collection to a site on another site collection?

A user contacted me about copying and moving information from an old site that is being retired to a new site.
The most important info is the department calendar.
I don't see a way to use the "Manage content and structure" functionality to copy or move a calendar from one site collection to another.
And site owners do not generally have enough permissions to create templates into the gallery.
Is this just not possible for him to do on his own?

I gave up and created templates for the site owner and created the corresponding list for them on the new site.
I was startled to discover that even though I said I wanted to include all content, the 4 columns that were of type "people picker" did not, for the most part, transfer.
So the columns will have to be manually entered. But at least the rest of the effort is done.
