NOKIA s40v5 C2-01

I bought my nokia C2-01 five month ago.And I am facing several problem from then.If I restore my mobile its only restore settings and clear my msg/contact/phone memory(media).But it is not clearing cache I guess because when I go to default browser I saw I am already login all my account from before.I update my software(11.20) three times from nokia care and only signout in my default browser after it but login name fill up already there.How its possible?and what to do guys?I am new here so don't know where to post this topic.Sorry for that and my bad english:-(

Also others problems are: when I start default opera mini I have to login in again every time? Also in default email application.another problem is a game name lordmancer.I play this game from last two month but from last today the player moving very slowly(I update,restore).Is it any graphics problem?I play this game to other set and there my game as normal as before.

Improvements for nokia s40v5 devices

Hi I was just thinking... I think this is a good idea for nokia and nokia users...
So here's what i mean... all of us have nokia phones right? some of us has nokia phones that runs the nokia s40v5 operating system right?so i was jus thinking...for the upcoming firmware updates for them, can you add some brand new features like "HomeScreen" which s40v6 has and s40v3 has it... why s40v5 doesn't come with active standby or homescreen?
here's another feature that you guys may like. In music player themes, instead of default music player themes installed on the phone like black, squares, sound waves, and some music player themes, the music player theme/background will be get in the themes (the .nth file)not in the mobile phone itself.
Another feature that you guys may like is the new gallery, just like the one's in nokia c1-01 and nokia c3-00.
Another one is the facebook client just like in nokia c3-00, x2-01.
another one is smart dialing, which is just like when you typpe 5555, the phone will say that's mom's number(09165555882).
Another one is the improved video recording... Instead of QCIF (176x144) resolution, use QVGA(320x240) or VGA(640x480) recording resolutions at 15fps and recording it with a mp4 codec... The video recording will result in crystal clear shots!!!
The one and the most important features that the s40 phones should get is multitasking... Yes you heard it right, multitasking. Just like in smartphones, nokia s40v5 devices should get multitasking. But always there's should be a limit to prevent the phone to crash although almost all nokia s40v5 phones has only 2.1mb of RAM(according to memoryUP pro application)...
If it's still possible, by only software update, the RAM may be increased for just like 10mb or more (phone memory will be used although we got memory cards right???)
what do you think guys and nokia developers, what do you think??? is this a cool idea???

Unfortunately S40v5 won't be gaining any of the major features found in S40v6 models. Time has moved on so if you want the features found in S40v6 devices you will need to buy one.
You are welcome to start a new thread giving suggestions about what you think should be added to the current (S60v6) or future operating systems.

HomeScreen or Active Standby for nokia S40V5 phone...

Hi there. Does someone of you know active standby? this can be found on s40v3 phones like nokia 6300 right. Do you also know HomeScreen? This can be found on s40v6 phones like nokia C3-00 right??? if s40v3 and s40v6 phones has Active Standby or Homescreen, why nokia s40v5 phones like 5130 xpressmusic and 2730 classic doesn't have homescreen? why the center one doesn't have it? i know that 3120c and 5310XM has a active standby even they are s40v5 phones . You should make a s40v5 firmware update that can add the active standby feature to the phone. The only thing we can do to have this feature is to mod the firmware right? so what do you think? are you agree to add this feature to your s40v5 devices? reply below

But if you wanted active standby, you should have just bought a phone that featured it. Not buy one of the very few phones without and then complain.

Making .nfl skins for nokia s40v5 media player

Hi guys, is there any software or trick to make .nfl skins for nokia s40v5?? Please share ur ideas about this.

For what feels like forever I haven't been able to get my phone to recognize my Nokia 5800 in Media Transfer mode. It will recognize the phone in Mass Storage but that doesn't help when am trying to log into Nokia Music to download songs on to my phone or transfer music files from my PC.
My provider was unhelpful (reading as they were from help pages) and merely provided me with a new phone which hasn't solved the problem. While looking through these pages I came across the FAQ to uninstall the device to redirect the drivers but that hasn't helped. Whether or not because of that last action whenever I now plug in my phone via USB cable and select Media Transfer my PC egg timer goes beserk and the sounds a golf-ball like 'thok' sound every few seconds. I deduce from this that it doesn't like the device.
Now at end of tether and have reinstalled Nokia Music suite and reinstalled several times.
If this sounds familiar to anyone please do advise. I am happy to spend money on Nokia Music if I could just get the thing to work in media transfer!

TrackID for Nokia s40v5.1

Is anyone a Sony Ericsson owner just to compare software? Then it would be clear about the thing that TrackID is not for Nokia series 40... 1. Can anyone make it? 2. If no, then how to force re-install from series 40 to symbian? If not clear, i'm using 3120c.

You can use the record function in your Nokia. And when you get home, you can transfer the your recording to your PC.
Then set up your soundcard to play the sound internal aswell, then go to Midomi and play the sound, while you click record in the Midomi window.
It's not quite as simple, but it's the best option currently (november 2010)

Blacklist in S40v5? Nokia 6500

Hello, i was wondering if there is an application for S40 platform to blacklist callers? Thank you.

S40 phones only allow Java apps and cannot multitask, so you can't have another application running 'in the background' as you can with smartphones, meaning that it is not possible to do this.

Good point there Psycho, I keep forgetting about the new handsets and the abilitiy to create its default code.
I cant remember if the arte is one of these new ones either, so its worth taking it to an NCP, as it looks like you've already gone through the security settings and didn't come across the ability to initially set up a security code.

Does Nokia even employ an R&D department anymore?

Last time I owned a Nokia was over two years ago and recently I decided to go back to the make of mobile that I had been used to most of my mobile-life.
I just bought a Nokia 5300 (slidy, music phone) and I am appalled that Nokia have not change or improved their user interface in two years!
Here's a few examples:
1. When unlocking the mobile (either by using the slide or buttons) a warning pops-up stating the mobile is now unlocked rendering it useless for a second.
##(Now, this and all of these little gripes will sound very trivial but when all on one mobile; they are demoralising!)##
I personally would like to be able to slide the phone and immediately be able to begin pushing buttons.
2. When turning the music player on, I am informed that the multimedia keys now control the media player. This is fine; for the first time but not every time you turn it on. (ie, turn on media player then either switch mobile off or change to radio and then switch it back on again). And I bought a mobile with dedicated multimedia buttons; I KNOW WHAT THEY DO!!!
3. The send and the spell soft keys are the same! Example: writing a text message (using T9), mobile doesn't have the word I would like to say, so I scroll through with the * key
until I believe I have reached the end of the list, push the middle button to add my new word to the dictionary and... oh sh#t I've just sent the text message half finished and with the last word being something like "inof"! Very poor decision that one!
4. Spelling a word in T9 and accidentally enter the word wrong and just as I've noticed my brain has already told my thumb to push ok. Now I'm stuck with a word in my dictionary that makes absolutely no sdnse (I mean sense). Can I delete that word? oh no, a list with all the words you've manually added? what a preposterous idea! (Sony Ericsson: "My Words").
5. Just like clam phones, it would be nice if when I slide my mobile shut it automatically goes to the main screen and locks itself instantly. Mainly to look suave but it would be nice that you could, without looking; close the phone and put it in your pocket without worrying: "did I push lock?"
6. Ever noticed that in all the shortcut customization you can't have messaging? You may have write message, write mms, inbox, e-mail, IM but not the menu: messaging. This would be useful, because you could have one of either the right or left selection keys linked straight to the messaging menu.
7. This has probably been mentioned thousands of times: On the 5300, the camera, volume and multimedia buttons are relatively hard to push so DON'T LOCK THEM!!! What's the worst that could happen? Oh no, I skipped a track in my pocket, if only I wasn't touching the skip button when the train stopped and I fell forward, last time this happened was '72: I may cry.
8. The help tips. Now, I would say I know how to use a mobile but if there's a function that I am not familiar with then it is nice to know that all I have to do is highlight it and wait a few seconds to find out it's purpose.
Menu -> Settings -> Display Settings -> Power Saver
"Lets you choose whether the power saver option is switched on or off. The power saver allows you to save some battery power."
I never would of guessed, so...what does it do? Using the good-old-fashioned way: trial and error; found that when the mobile is in standby the screen will just display the time and date. THAT'S ALL IT HAD TO SAY!
9. My friend's just sent me a message from his new mobile. Use detail, number, save. Now I have to type his name exactly to replace the original, why not just have an option to find and replace?
I probably could whine about this mobile for a bit longer but I'm getting bored! :-)
All my suggestions may not be liked by everyone but a choice should be available.
All this could be solved by a tiny little phone update but sadly, we all know that Nokia won't bother!
They haven't put any time or money into consumer research in the past two years, why start now?

S40v5 is a nice improvement to a good stable operating system.
I've never had any trouble using any S40 devices over the years. I find them to be very intuitive and user friendly.

Nokia 5300 & Hs-16 Headset

i just got a Nokia genuine HS-16 headset for my nokia 5300 . inside the box u find 3 cables , 1x AV 2.5mm,1 X AV3.5mm , 1 x 3.5mm .
So i used the Nokia AV 2.5mm cable & when i connect it nokia would display "enhancement not supported"
the only way i found to use these headfones on my nokia 5300 is by using the AD-50 adaptor & the Nokia 3.5mm cable .
how come i get such error ? isnt the 2.5mm cable built for the Nokia 5300 ( and other nokias with 2.5mm socket ) ?

The phone can only support one headset connected at once so it's not possible (even with a firmware update) for you to listen to radio on a bluetooth headset.
The same applies to it's replacement S40v5 handsets, the 5310 and 5610.

Nokia 6280 HELP

hi I have a nokia 6280 and wanted to ask if is he a symbian?
and if not can it be installed and how?

You are confused.
Every phone has an OS (operating system). Phones like the 6280 have an OS made by nokia called series 40 and there has been various versions, tha latest being S40v5 (the 6280 is S40v3).
Smartphones have on OS that's built on symbian, and it's called S60, the current version is S60v3.
You cannot change the OS in a phone.

S40v5 and v6 updates

Is there any chance of including these options in s40v5 and s40v6 devices like:
-Managing screen brightness (cuz, it is a bit uncomfortable with the brightness to eyes at night times)
-keypad lights(on/off)
-Few transition effects(which are available in past s40 devices. But they are removed totally in this s40v5,6 phones now)
-Deleting default applications and games manually if unwanted
-Texting directly on chat screen while doing conversation
Can we expect these things in next update?
B'cuz many other brands cover these settings in their OSs.
If Nokia wants big market it should include these updates to compete with other brands.
I think s40v5 has a latest release of firmware 11.40 with very little updates which are not very necessary. It would be better if it withdraw this update and include the above updates i've mentioned and re-release the firmware...

You won't see any of those updates for S40v5 devices and are highly unlikely to see them for pre-Asha S40v6 devices either as many of them are now considered to be old and obsolete.
Nokia is focussing it's attention on it's Asha S40 range now for the budget and emerging markets and Windows Phone for other market sectors.
Whilst Nokia may see your feedback here they are unlikely to respond.

It doesn't matter if you agree or not, it's the facts.
Series 40 phones are a totally different range of models as it's a different operating system. Just like S60 there has been many versions of series 40, the current version is S40v5 FP1.
S60v2 reached the end of it's life long ago and you will see no further official development for it. S60 is currently on S60v3 FP1 with S60v3 FP2 devices about to be released and S60v5 devices to be released later in the year.

Ovi Store and Nokia Accounts unresponsive on my 80...

I sent my 808 in for service and requested a wipe to factory defaults due to some issues that I was having. When my phone was returned to me, I had great difficulty loging in to Nokia Account and Ovi Store Mobile. There is a round wheel that would just keep spinning when the respective apps were launched and eventually fail.
There was also a odc.nokia.com error which claims to be expiring in 3 months (May 2014).
I have returned my 808 back to Nokia Care. I hope the issues can be rectified.

I visited https://odc.nokia.com. The security certificate expires on 7/5/2014 (7 May 2014).

Delete file from NOKIA C5-03 phone memory

I still face a problem that when I buy mobile then phone memory was 40MB, but now it reduced to 30MB. I try to browse and remove unwanted file from phone memory. But nothing gonna happen. I also use pc suite, mass storage etc, but can't. What can I do now?

Try clearing browser cache and your messages from inbox. Try installing ET optimizer or netqin mobile guard. They both can be used to remove trash files.
