"Nokia E61i software removed - 7 April 2008
Support for E61i has temporarily been removed from the Nokia Software Updater service. Other Nokia products are not affected. Support will be reintroduced as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
I bought Nokia E61i in February 2008, now April 2008, I found out that Nokia has these SMS problem. I tried to download the firmware but saw the above message.
I am a business man, I do not have the time to download firmware, wait for firmware etc.
Now I cannot use Nokia E61i. If a device is full of bugs, then it is better not to market it. Nokia should recall Nokia E61i and refund money back to consumer.
Nokia E61i should increase my productivity, but now it is wasting my time.
Nokia E61i is not a smart phone, it is a dumb phone.

  • Question rgd. mailbox settings on E61

    Hi,
I have now set the email key on my E61 to my standard mailbox. So when I press that key, I´m in the mailbox and after a few seconds, it prompts me if I want to connect. I´d like to automate this so that when I hit that key, new emails get downloaded automatically.
Is that that "automated download" option I have in the mailbox settings? I was always a bit afraid of activating that because I don´t want the mobile to connect at just any time without my knowledge.
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,

    Hi mbang,
yes, it does answer it. Thanks!
I will not activate it, then because there are always times and places when/ where I would not want the phone to connect, which I cannot schedule. And what would happen if, during that time, my phone happened to be in Offline mode?
I don´t use the email feature on my phone that often anyway, so it isn´t much hazzle.
    Thanks a lot!

  • Wanna add Nokia S60 emulators to WTK 2.5.1

    Hi, guys!
I installed the Nokia S60 3rd Edition SDK for Symbian OS, Supporting Feature Pack 2, for MIDP (Beta release) into the direcotry C:\S60 and its emulators works well with Netbeans IDE 5.5.1 with mobility pack.
Now I want to add the emulators from the Nokia S60 3rd Edition SDK to Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5.1. I followed the instructions found in Sun Java Wireless Toolkit for CLDC User's Guide, cited below for convinience of reference:
"The procedure is usually to unpack or install the third party emulator, then copy its directory into toolkit\wtklib\devices (Windows) or into toolkit/wtklib/devices (Linux). The next time you run the toolkit, the emulator is available."
I copied the dirctory S60_3rd_MIDP_SDK_FP2_Beta from C:\S60\devices\S60_3rd_MIDP_SDK_FP2_Beta to the dirctory C:\WTK2.5.1\wtklib\devices. But I just can't find the S60 emulators in the WTK as I did in the NetBeans IDE.
Could anyone kindly tell me what's wrong with my settings? thanks a lot!

  • Weight/dimensions of brand new wireless keyboard? Use with Nokia S60 3rd?

    Hi,
I am considering the new apple wireless keyboard (aluminium) to use with my Nokia N80 / N95 phones, but the exact specifications are nowhere to be found.
Can anyone tell me if it is:
    - compatible with the bluetooth HDI profile like the previous model?
    - how much it weighs?
    - what its dimensions are?
Has anyone, by any chance, tried using it with a Nokia S60 3rd edition phone like a nokia E series or N series?

    hi there,
yes, i can confirm the usage of the new bluetooth aluminium keyboard in conjunction with my nokia n95 via the 'wireless keyboard' -application which is located in the office-folder of the n95.
i got it paired with no problems and the usage itself is also perfect.

  • How to integrate wtk 2.5.2 with Nokia S60 SDK?

I tried to following Sun Java Wireless Toolkit for CLDC User's Guide. It mentions "The procedure is usually to unpack or install the third party emulator, then copy its directory into workdir\wtklib\devices. The next time you run the toolkit, the emulator is available. ".
So I copied the folder "S60_3rd_MIDP_SDK_FP1_2" of Nokia S60 SDK into "C:\WTK2.5.2\wtklib\devices". Then I run WTK2.5.2, from the menu "File - Utilities", there is only Default Emulator in Emulators list, not any Nokia emulator there! I can not find in menu "Edit - Preferences" too!
I tried integrate Netbeans with Nokia S60 SDK, it works well.
I did not try integrate Eclipse+EclipseMe with Nokia SDK, it seems more complex...
Can WTK 2.5.2 be integrated with Nokia S60 SDK? Anybody can answer and help me? Thanks!

You can download the Flex 3 compiler for J2EE applications and update the <br />compiler with the bits contained in that web application.<br /><br />  http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexsdk/Downloads<br /><br />Note that moving forward (LCDS 2.6 - in beta now) the MXML compiler will not <br />come with LCDS at all.  It is now part of the SDK and must be configured <br />'manually' if you want to use it.<br /><br />Probably the better thing to do is to compile your application with <br />FlexBuilder 3 instead of the web tier compiler, you will have much more <br />control over which Flex SDK you are using - plus you get a good IDE!<br /><br />--<br />Tom Jordahl<br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />> Hi,<br />><br />> I deployed LCDS 2.5.1 version which uses Flex 2.0 by default. • Where are Smart Mailbox settings?

    Hello
I set up a large number of Smart Mailboxes on my Macbook and they synced over to my iMac. Now, however, they have disappeared from the Macbook and i am getting a prompt to delete them on the iMac when it tries to sync.
Can anyone tell me where the Smart Mailbox settings are kept so I can copy it and let the sync happen and not have to recreated the whole thing?
    Thanks heaps

They are in the /Home/Library/Mail/ folder:
    SmartMailboxes.plist
    SmartMailboxes.plist.backup

I've recently got an E72 and I'm trying to set-up email (via Lineone)
I've done the inbox thing ok but can't send anything.
On the Advanced Mailbox settings, there is no Incoming mailbox or Outgoing mailbox settings option.
I've searched high and low but can't find anything that will let me have access to the Outgoing mailbox.

  • Nokia messaging servers are very intrusive mailbox...

    Hello.
I am using IMAP mailbox running on unix server. I acces to that same mailbox by using unix, shell interface, thunderbird and webmail aplications.
Nokia messaging servers usually initially work fine with the others too. I can access mailbox with other programs too and read the mail and delete etc.
After a while the nokia mail process starts to keep the mail reading process running all the time. It want's to keep the mailbox locked to itself all the time. If any other mail reading program get's the mailbox lock accroding to IMAP spec, the nokia mail process takes it back instant. Thus I can't mark mails read, delete them or do anything except see them from any other program. I solve this problem by accessing the unix server and killing all nokia mail processes and that way I get some breathing time until problems start again.
I think there is extremely poor coding at work here. Have anyone else experienced problems like this?

In order to delete your email account from nokia servers.. you have to cancel your subscription on nokia servers through email.nokia.com.
Once you cancel it nokia servers stop accessing the account. If you only delete you account from cell phone, you account with nokia email still remains....

  • Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Gallery, Accelerometer etc ...

Hey everyone, got a Nokia 5800 XpressMusic as my birthday gift. Love its camera, style, features etc. But there has been some Issues I am facing/discovered recently. Please help me!
    Gallery:
I've got some ringtones I transferred from my old phone. But the problem is they are listed in the "Songs" folder, in the Music Library. This is a bit frustrating because I don't want ringtones to play when I want to play all of the songs. eh? They won't move to the "Sound Clips" folder. I've tried many things...but I couldn't fix it. Pls help
Another thing is that when I load up my device with new Images and videos, they don't get added to the "Images and Videos" folder, unless I move them to the folder which the phone created itself and saves the pics and vdos captured by the camera. Then they get added to the gallery..I think. Is this a issue or it supposed to be like this? Pls tell!
    Accelerometer:
Sometimes when I had to restart the device, after it freezes or hangs up etc. The accelerometer sometimes doesn't work. When I put the phone horizontally (to rotate the screen or images) It doesn't work. And I had to restart the device again to make it work..(the device takes a while to boot up though..)
    Other "funny" stuffs:
I've heard that you can put up to four contacts in the contacts bar (favorite four). But in my one, I can put up more than four! How's that?
When I press the media key and activate the media bar, then tap the "Images and videos" icon, shouldn't it directly navigate me to the Images and Video folder? But it takes me to the gallery homepage, (where u select where u want to go, Images and videos, songs, sound clips, other media etc) why is that?
Current software version: V 52.0.007 . Updated it using Nokia Ovi Suite. Previous version was V 52.0.004 .
Full model name: Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Navigation Edition. Bought on Dec 13, 2010
Please provide me with solutions to this problems. I would appreciate it very much!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

gallery: it's supposed to be like tht. Irritating but the problem is all .mp3, .mp4 sound files are read as music files.. Sound files r .amr and .wav files i guess.
Accelerometer: chk if ur memory card is corrupt or not. After update, did u try hard resettin? F u dnt hv much data to lose, u cud do a hard/soft reset, using *#7370# code. Nd if u make a backup before reset, which u should, avoid restorin the settings and files after the reset.
If u'v lot of data to lose, try switchin off the mobile, remove battery, sim, memory card for 10/15mins., reinsert and switch on. If this doesn't solve, resettin is ur final option.
As for contact bar, i donno if tht's how it is in Navigation edition. If it isn't, resettin will surely solve this. But do not restore settings frm backup after reset.
The one touch image icon is supposed to do tht. No issues.
Memory card corrupt: ths s not necessary, but u could check ur memory card. For this u'l have to attach ur fone to pc in 'mass storage' mode. Open my computer on pc. Rt click on ur memory card nd goto properties. Under tools tab u'd find 'check disk for errors'. Run tht. If there'r any corrupt files, it'l be solved. In my experience corrupt card usually leads to some or the other issues in the phone..
    Repost if u've any query.
    F problem solves, Kudo!

    Dr. Shoubhik

  • E71 Battery Life (Compare with E61, E61i)

Most of the E71 newbies claim that the battery life is awesome. But for me, the E61i, and E61 user, I discovered that the battery life in E71 seems not as good as the one in E61.
Typically, under my usage (Daily 5-10mins short calls x 10, every 15mins pull mail from pop, ~50mails daily, lowest brightness, no wifi, no bluetooth, no 3G, no mp3, no DC),
the E61 last for 3 days or more, but E71 is hardly to last for 3 days.
Checked with Nokia Profiler, the consumption during a conversation is throttling between 0.6 to 0.8, avg 0.75W
sometime near 1W max. For 3G conversation, the power consumpted is almost doubled.
It implies the phone is consumping 250mA ideally.
    1500 / 250 = 6 hours
    1500 / 500 = 3 hours
Far away from the official value from Nokia.
    Anyone share your experience ?

heavy use of sms (100 to 150 sms a day) an hour of browsing using 3g, an hour of mp3, and total of 30mins call everyday, brightness is set to full and breathing light is on.

    You can't be serious...
    My daily average:
5-10 minute calls, 2-3 of those
    10-15 sms sent
    10 minutes of 3g browsing
Push email (nokia email service) on for 10 hours, receive and send 3-5 mails in total.
Brightness set just one bump over minimum. Breathing light is on (cant imagine this consumes any noteworthy amount of battery, do you?)
    Battery lasts for 3 days

  • A few rants in one place - Nokia / S60 3rd Ed issu...

    Hi,
Having owned several Nokia Series 60 phones from a 6600 to my current N95, I feel it's time to ask for a few changes to be made. Can someone from Nokia please pass this on to development:
    1) Music
Why can't the music player be restricted to scanning only certain folders or be told not to scan the phone. I have ringtones on the handset and music on the card and Music player refresh finds all and I get a messy list of artists/albums/genres
    2) Gallery (Images & Videos)
Why can't gallery be tailored to only scan certain folders. I have had to remove all my tomtom POIs cos gallery shows me all the little bmp files and this gets up my nose
    3) Contacts
If I open contacts and highlight a contact and then select options->send message, when I am done, contacts has closed. If however, I open a contact, highlight the number to dial and either select options->voice call or press the green call key, when the call ends, contacts is still open in background. The next time I want to use a contact, I open contacts and I have to press the back key as the last contact used is presented on screen. I hate inconsistency
    4) Active standby
Why am I informed of daily events on the day they occur but am informed of appointments a week before they occur
Why can I not turn off the search and wlan scanning lines in active standby? I never use them and they get in the way of useful pim entries
    5) Outlook synching
Why do events that repeat annually synch ok (as anniversaries) but ones that repeat monthly (1st sat of each month) do not
    6) Slide and calls (N95)
Why is there no option to end a call using the slide? I have to use a bit of freeware to accomplish this (not the end of the world but...)
    7) Standard power saver
Who can read the small date/time power saver. Again I have to use another bit of freeware to be able to read it - why not a font size option?
    8) GPS
Can the internal GPS receiver be internally linked to a pseudo bluetooth device so tomtom can see it. Tomtom uses no data whereas MAPS is pretty useless without network access for data and I do not have an inclusive data plan
These S60 phones and especially the N95 are brilliant but would be even better if someone fixed these annoyances, in my oppinion that is.
    Thank you for your time.
    Regards,
    Brian.

might be a bit late with this one, but i agree with most of your rants, but i can help with the tom tom.
someone developed some software which simulates an external gps using the internal device and you run it in conjunction with Tom Tom. Cant get the program to run with my 6220 classic, but im assured it works fine with the n95 and phones with the same software and below.
Its not illegal stuff or modifying anything to do with the phone and its free, so im hoping this post wont get deleted.
its called GPSd (google GPSd internal bluetooth and it should bring up lots of hits). cant remember where i got it from, but if you cant find it, ill send you the version i have

  • Iphone 3G - cannot access the bottom of the mail,Contact etc. Settings pane

When I go to the pane I can set all my mail accounts etc but if I try to scroll down to the bottom of that page where I can set the sorting order of the contacts the iphone freezes and takes me back to the home screen.
I have done a total 2 hour reset of the phone 2 hours ago and restored the software fresh without using a backup...
    Any ideas ?

are you signed in to those stores? do you have them restricted in settings, restrictions?

  • The Hardware of the Nokia S60 devices

Nokia continues to develop and make models based in arm 11 technology what begins to be a obesolete technology. See what happens with Samsung with Omnia HD, Sony Ericsson with Saito, Apple with Iphone 3G S and even with Palm with the Pre. All with TiOMAP 3 Cpu and PowerVR SGX graphics and 256 MB of ram memory. I don't see what Nokia have in mind but i don't glimpse a auspicious future to the future products of Nokia if they continue like this, with this stupid stubbornness. I would like to see S60 Models with these technologies and others also evolved because i ever liked Nokia and i still continue to like Nokia but lately they have desappointed me.

The diesel engines fitted to Citroën, Peugeot and some Ford cars are a common design (HDi) dating back close to a decade, they improve with time but they're still there and they are still the market leaders for that particular product line.
What's inside is only half the story, many reviews have showed the N97 to be performing very well despite the low-spec processor that had been causing many concerns. If you want a product that has the latest chip just for the sake of having the latest chip, then that is your choice - stop moaning and buy a Samsung.
