  • Nokia Sensor for the N70, N80, N90 - when will it ...

I know this is dicussed in part in other topics but I'd like to start a topic specifically for Nokia Sensor on the N70, N80 and N90 series of phones. Use this topic to plead, beg and otherwise bribe Nokia into getting Nokia Sensor developed and released for this series of phones. Moderators, please can you tell us anything you know about when this application will be available or what it's current development state is. Cheers, Richard.

    Hi Richard
As moderators we really don't have access to that kind of information. The best thing to do in this situation is contact Nokia directly.

  • Nokia Sensor - what do you think?

Are you using the Nokia Sensor application? Please share your experiences! Have you ever found any other users with the scan?
I recently met an old friend who had also downloaded Sensor - and there we were, in a pub, scanning for each other and checking out our profiles.
But I've never really found any other users on the street, though I've set my profile open for all.
Anybody have a story to tell?

    Cheers Karim!!
Whee, looking forwards to testing this out. Will have to uninstall the 6680 version first and extract the folio .xml file to save me having to enter all my details again.
    Top one!
*EDIT* Err, Karim the link you have posted is for Lifeblog, which I've had from day one. I've just had a look at the Sensor site and it seems the N Series is still not yet supported. Looks like I'll have to be patient. Phooey.

Iguess why it wont come on S60v3 is because these multimedia computers (as they are called) are hungry on battery and this app would add to the worry :-)
That and the problems with bluetooth. Probably a complete nightmare to try and get round these issues.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?

Nope. Nokia Sensor is *NOT* and S60 3rd Edition (v3) app, but an S60 2nd Ed. (v2) app. It will not work on the E61i, and as S60 3rd Ed. phones have been out for more than a year, and no Sensor app yet, I suspect none will come, either.
True. My mistake Is an S60v2 application, not for E61i and others S60v3.

This seems to be a problem not with the phone (Nokia N70) but with Windows.
You should make sure that Windows Firewall or Anti Virus Applications such as Norton Antivirus permit the Nokia Software Updater application to connect to the Internet.
You need to configure exclusions, for example enable the application in Windows Firewall or in Norton AntiVirus go to 'Internet Worm Protection' and go to 'Program Control' then add the Updater application which resides at the following path:
    "C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia Software Updater\nsu_ui_client.exe"
After that run the application again (you may possibly have to restart). The application will then connect to the Internet and detect your phone.
You'll probably find (like me) however that the phone already has the most current firmware.
Take care running firmware updates though, sometimes they can be more costly than any benefits, especially if something goes wrong.
    Best of luck.

  • Nokia 6680 or N70 ?

Hi i have had an xda2i and pocketmac software for over a year and have had a nightmare with ical syncing. Which nokia should i go for, for trouble free ical syncing and all round good phone - 6680 or N70 . I see that isync dosn't support the N70 but there is software on the web - is it a hassle?
    thanks
    powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi Toddtastic.
Out of interest, do you sync with Bluetooth? If so, can you upload from your phone? I ask as I see you are on OS 10.4.4, which broke the Bluetooth syncing, preventing most from being able to upload. You'll see a lot about this on many of the Mac forums, including the Bluetooth forum here.
In reply to your software question regarding the N70, I've heard nothing but good things about Nova Media's iSync plugins. Take a look:
    http://www.novamedia.de/sync/
Incidentally, I have the Nokia 6670 at the moment, but am waiting for the N80 to come out.
    Hope this is useful.

  • ISYNC Nokia 6121 or N70 or Sony Ericsson V640 SYNC???????

I am getting a new phone on phone insurance and want to ensure it works with isync. I cant seem to find either the Nokia 6121 classic or the Sony Ericsson V640 on the isync list. Through version tracker i have seen isync phone plugins 5,2 which says that it works for the Nokia 6121. I also have the choice of an older, proven sync model Nokia N70.
Does anyone know or use any of these phones and know FOR SURE that they sync calendar and address book. Without this function I would be lost!

The *Sony Ericsson V640* works perfectly with iSync using an iSync Plugin from here. You can see all the Contact and Calendar data that is synced listed on that page.

Ahh, sorry if that didn't do the trick. Another method does exist but it relies on you having installed a 3rd party file explorer such as FExplorer.
Open your File Manager (The bundled Nokia one will not work) and navigate to:
    C:\System\Data
In there you will see files with a .mbm or .jpg extension, e.g.
    backgroundimage.mbm
HomeScreen_BckGrdimage.mbm (If you happen to be on Orange)
    wallpaper.jpg
Open each file to check if it is the offending background wallpaper, if it is, then close the file and delete with the filemanager.
Warning!!! The C:\System\Data directory is an important system directory that also contains vital files for the phone to run properly, do not delete anything if you are unsure as you could mess your phone. This is why the included Nokia file manager hides access to the System dir and all sub-dirs.

  • What is Orange banded Nokia N70 internal/external ...

Can someone who has a Nokia N70 on Orange please tell me what the actual internal memory of the phone? I've browsed through mobile review sites and seems that each site is stating different memory sizes from 22, 30 and 32 and 35 mb so its getting all confusing to know which one is the actual one! Does any of this space be taken up by the Orange branding so there is less storage?
Also what type of memory card does it take? the normal MMC or reduced size MMC and the size of the memory card? What is the maxium memory card it can take in external memory?
    Thanks for your help,

the total amount of shared memory for storage on the N70 is 20mb.
Exactly what my Orange variant N70 has, I have 5Mb used and 15Mb free...
    5526kB - Mem. in use
    15MB - Free memory
    11kB - Calendar
    102kB - Contacts
    42kB - Messages
    63kB - Images
    1492kB - Sound files
    0B - Video clips
    1kB - Documents
    126kB - Applications
The Orange homescreen software is primarily stored on the phone's ROM with maybe a couple of small ini or setup files stored on the phone's rewriteable RAM memory (even going by the breakdown above, worst case is that Orange files take up approx 3MB of the 20MB available free RAM, in reality I'm guessing it's a lot less than that).
The amout of installed fixed RAM and ROM will be identical no matter which network your N70 handset happens to be tied to. What will be different is how the different additional software will affect the processor or CPU.
I think the question you should be asking is "how fast an Orangised N70 runs when compared to other network handsets or a sim-free version?" NOT "Which handset has the most memory?".
*EDIT* To answer your other question about external memory, the N70 takes RS-DV-MMC cards, that's Dual Voltage, Reduced Size MMC. It's important that you get a Dual Voltage type otherwise your N70 will not recognise the card. Another format that is compatible is MMCMobile. I have been running a 1GB card in my N70 since last year and it works fine.
The next bit is speculation from me but I am guessing that since the N70 uses FAT16 as a filesystem then it will be limited to approx 2GB as this is a limitation of FAT16. Having said that the biggest RS-DV-MMC cards available today are 1GB.

  • Nokia 6630 Sensor 2.33

Hello ! I downloaded Nokia Sensor 2.33 from Nokia official website and when I wanted to install it in my Nokia 6630 using Nokia Application Installer, a security error appeared on the screen and cancelled the install process. Than I turned off the signature check for applications and it made the same security error. What can I do ?

    Hi!
Unfortunately, you will never see contacts or call lists with this configuration when you are connected via Bluetooth.
At that time, the market for Bluetooth devices was not that big as it is today and most of the Bluetooth profiles used at that time didn't support Phonebook downloads.
So you can only see your contacts & call lists if you would use a phone in cradle.
But at least, you have another option you can use with your Denso:
You can store up to 20 names inside the handsfree unit.
Just say "Phone-Store Name", wait, then the name, wait, then the number, confirm and it is stored and you can dial it by saying "Phone-Dial Name", wait, the name.
You can also consult this document: http://fordfcsd.wunderman.be/
Choose your language, click "Audio-Mulitmedia-Nav", then "Bluetooth and Voice Control" and you got it.

  • Automatic Loudspeaker please! Nokia

Why do Nokia phones not have a setting to switch on the Loudspeakers automatically when calling or answering.
Surely many people like me only use the Loudspeaker. It is such a hassle having to press it every single time. Most times I miss the first two or three words of the caller and if your in a Menu or writing a text and receive a call, to get to the Loudspeaker you have to keep pressing Back, Back, Back...
I have been waiting years for Nokia to come up with a setting to switch on Automatic Loudspeaker. It is such a simple and widespread function that people use often, I have no idea why Nokia's design team hasn't heard of this basic necessity through the grapevines. One would have thought the first handsets which have Loudspeaker would have included this setting. So please Nokia, include a setting for AUTOMATIC LOUDSPEAKER...
    Automatic Loudspeaker please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had no idea such a feature existed on a mobile phone. Are u pulling my leg Steve? This might sound stupid...
I'm not kidding at all. If you look at an image of the Nokia 7650 on the top left of the phone above the screen you will see what looks like two recessed small buttons, this is the proximity sensor. If you have the loudspeaker activated and naturally move the phone to your ear the phone would auto-switch to normal speaker. You'd get the same effect if you just waved your finger infront of the two recessed buttons. The sensor was a proximity sensor, not a phone movement sensor. You had to have the surface (finger/ear/whatever) fairly close to the sensor so the action of gripping the phone in your hand would not deactivate handsfree speakerphone.
Here's an old link to read: http://www.infosync.no/news/2002/n/2088.html read the last two paragraphs.
The 7650 was an awesome phone back in the day, remember most mobiles in 2001/2002 were not as sophisticated and all Nokia smartphones (and I mean all, including N & E series) owe their existence to the 7650.
You're not obsessed, it's actually a feature I really miss. It was like magic to use and show off to people.
