Nokia SMS backup.

Dear All, Recently I purchased a Nokia N8-00, I made backup of my Nokia 3110c (two times only SMS) and E65 (Only SMS) through PC suite and OVI suite. Now I want to restore all SMS to my new Nokia N8-00. Please tell me how to do this from last 3 backups.

Using Nokia Suite, chose the icon on the right of the eight at the top of the screen, and from Backup and Restore chose restore, chose the items you want to resrore from your backup !

If you know what you're doing, you can read them directly from backup using a SQlite database browser.

Good idea. I've already used the feedback for my general suggestions to improve the way Apple handles bug reports (and tried sending it to Steve Jobs too), but I'll send a specific suggestion for a bug app on the iPhone.

Making sms backup....problem

hi guys...i need some help...
i have e50i and i have almost 1000sms in my phone memory,i use phone memory for sms...but when i try to make backup of my sms,contacts via pc suite(latest version),it makes sms backup only from inbox and it does not go in folders section where i have made folders and saved sms there....please tell me how i can make its backup,that it make full sms backup...

some applications can export sms (in/out) into text file like free i-sms 1.10.

Nokia X6 SMS BAckup

Just one query like i had nokia N70 earlier and sms folder was known to me......so that time to time i kept on saving the mail folder from N70....
BUT
i am unable to get sms/Mail folder in X6 does any one know which folder contains all sms in mass memory......so that i can take backup................

Try this sms copy and backup service. It's free for backup (you can even export your sms in plain text csv file) but you need paid plan to copy your sms from one phone to another one.

if your messages are saved on the memory card, then this can be done.
There is one folder in the memory card which has got a lot of sub folders ( i do not remember the name of the folder). I think the sub folders are named - a,b,c,.... etc.
copy this main folder (with the contents of the subfolder) and copy it back to the memory card after formatting it.

Problems with SMS backup from Nokia PC suite

Dear forumERS,
sorry to bother you with a question asked many many times i guess...but apparently no solutions yet (at least: as far as i red until now).
I switched form Nokia Xpress Music 5800 to Nokia E71 and the backup with PC suite worked quite ok for contacts, settings and calendar. SMS were imported as well, but the phone shows phone numbers instead of names as senders in the inbox folder (= i see the phone number but not the name). However, in the outbox folder, the same phone number is correctly recognized and linked to the contact (= i see the name of the recipient). But if i read the content of the inbox folder from PC Suite, i see the names correctly. In addition, the phone doesn't import the content of the archive folder. What's wrong with my cell phone and/or backup and/or PC Suite? Can anybody help?

hello forum..i too am facing a similar problem of not being able to restore my contacts n sms back into my cell using nokia content copier in pc suite..im using a nokia 7610 which i formatted before doin the restoration...andd also d pc suite was not the latest version which i used to restore my data..but inspite of it i tried restoring d data using the old version and i got a confirmation message saying " restoration successfully completed" on the screen..but when i checked my inbox and contacts i couldnt find anything and it was all blank........
so should i install d latest version of PC suite and try again....i wud be grateful to all who can help me regarding this problem...thanks

I am currently an Android phone user, but as I am investing more and more into the Apple ecosystem (music, apps, etc,) I want to switch to an iPhone.
On my Android phone, I use an app called "SMSBackup+." It's a handy little program that automatically backs up all my SMS messages to my gmail account.
I have seen people talking about manually selecting / extracting / converting their SMS messages and backing them up to computer, but it's not what I'm looking for. In order for me to switch to iPhone, I need a similar app for iOS. This is a must-have. I want to get an iPhone very badly, but without the automatic backups to my gmail account, it's not feasible... Anyone know of any solution?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think you can use Mac software from www.sycnfony.com. They allow you to download all SMS messages and threads from your Nokia to your computer where you can easily organize them and even do full-search changes.

[Urgent] N97 sms backup

Hi,
I'm thinking of sending my N97 for repair. I've backup my stuffs using the ovi suite and did a hard reset on my phone. Text messages saved on my E: Mass memory can still be found after doing a hard reset.
Can i delete all the messages there before sending it to repair and retrieve the messages when i load my backup file and sync to ovi when it's back from repair? Will the messages on E: Mass memory be retrieved successfully?

well i have the latest version of OVI suite and when i click on messaging, folders and messages i cannot copy them to pc. the only option is FORWARD, REPLY, DELETE...
My old nokia 6300 did allow copying smses directly to pc using drag and drop using the old nokia pc suite, but with nokia ovi suite and newer high model nokias its all Fed up and no longer user friendly...
Nokia has stuffed up badly with the N97...
I do not like getting backup of all data into a specific nokia image file...i like backing up my SMS messages only just like the old nokias, directly to pc by dragging & drop...
I guess its time to leave nokia forever and move into another brand phone...
I used nokia for 14 years and the more i see their newer phones the more disgusted i get with their feature, qualiity and performance...
My N97 has been replaced by warranty quiet a few times and still stuffed up, hanging and freezing...even with latest firmware its even worse...latest firmware is supposed to improve not get worse...what nokia programmers are doing and their engineers i dont really know...they going down and down and down...
