Nokia Social 1.5 - N8 - Belle Official - Unknown P...

I kept getting "Unknown Problem. Please try again later" message whenever I log into the nokia social 1.5 facebook app. But when i try a different user account, I can login without problems. Upon checking the facebook website, I noticed that the nokia social is not included in my app list, unlike on the other account which has it. How do I add the nokia social app into my facebook? This is very different from the fmobi app, wherein if I delete fmobi in the app list in facebook website, it automatically adds it whenever I login to fmobi. I was hoping to try the nokia social app because of the widgets. Please help.

Just found out how to do it: when logged in Facebook find the application (Ovi by Nokia) an allow access to your account.

I detect the following troubles
1) One contact that exists in Facebook don't appears in Nokia Social - Friends - All friends.
This contact appears in www.facebook.com and in official Facebook mobile aplication.
2) I linked some people between Contacts and Nokia Social.
Then in the phone contact, after the Nokia Social icon (blue and inside one "f" ), it appears a message (see what is doing XXX in Facebook).
But sometimes or in some contacts, the message don't appears.
After some minutes I return to one contact with message and then i can't see it (the opposite it's true too)
If a make a touch in the message area (but WITHOUT message), it works: the Nokia Social application starts with this friend
3) Nokia Social - friends
Some friends have a symbol or picture. Is a green notebook with a face in white
The icon appears and disappears like 2)

I discovered solutions to the two problems I was having with Nokia Social and Facebook friends.
1. For a missing friend. Reinstalling the Social app did not help. I visited Facebook using a web browser and unfriended the friend. Then I sent a new friend request to them. After they accepted the request, they came up on the Nokia Social facebook friend list.
2. Phantom unknown mystery friend. Again, reinstalling Social didn't help. They don't appear in regular Facebook so couldn't be unfriended. I deleted and reinstated my Facebook account in Nokia Social. Then the phantom friend was gone.
So far working OK.

NOKIA SOCIAL APP NOT WORKING

Hello i have a NOKIA 500 BELLE and i resantly upgraded the NOKIA 500 BELLE to the NOKIA 500 BELLE REFRESH and its working very well but today i took a photo and it was stored in the gallery i went into the gallery and tapped on the photo i just took then went to the icon that lets me share the photo in my social networks i left a caption and tapped on share then the NOKIA SOCIAL APP appears and i get a message saying UNABLE TO START so now i can not share my photos on my social networks. I there any way i can delet it from my mobile and then reinstall it again or is there a other way i can correct it? Regards Leslie.

After upgrade my phone whit official ANNA, the application have bugs, because connect to internet whitout permisse.
Also, i cant update the nokia social to the version 1.3. I have the version 1.2 but show me a failed text when i install the update.

I have had the same problem, always having to enter my password. Solution: don't log out; instead, just exit (from the bottom right).

Can´t connect to facebook using Nokia Social on No...

Hello... since yesterday I am unable to connect to facebook with my c6-01 using the Nokia Social app v 1.3... the error message is "unknown problem ... try again later."
Everything was working fine until yesterday so my question is if there is some problem with nokia servers or if it is some strange problem with my nokia??

Nokia 500 Review on Symbian Belle

After the update screen went through, I had my fingers crossed, and despite the screen saying “15 minutes remaining,” the update was finished in about 5 minutes.
Upon startup, there was a line of dots (….) which lighted up on after the other sort of like a loading bar and it was. After the loading came the usual language selection and Ovi suite options (“Create an Ovi Account” “I have an account” and of course “Later.”) after going through the Ovi suite options (literally took 10 seconds) my carrier had charged me about 0.45cents (USD cents) for the tips I had signed up on while I still had Symbian Anna on the device. Nokia suite was installing support software after the phone booted up and after 5 more minutes, I set the date, time and location and I was presented with the home screen. The standard home screen as on other Belle devices with the Flip clock, Ovi Social widget and 4 icons (Camera, contacts, Angry birds [oh yea!] and Maps) at the last widget’s position; at the bottom edge of the screen are menu, call and home screen options. The widgets take a few seconds to load but once they load they don’t lag. The second home screen has “Favorite contacts” widgets and 4 more icons (Messaging, Store, Calendar and Web), the third home screen has a Music player widget and the 4th home screen is blank for the user to customize. Unlike other Nokia/Symbian Belle devices, the Nokia 500 only has 4 home screens as opposed to 6.
The lock screen is similar to the Anna screen and is only redesigned. The Belle home screen allows usage of a background unlike Symbian Anna’s.
Now the menu: unlike Symbian Anna, the menu does not have an applications folder so everything is spread out on the home screen creating a mini mess. Luckily, there is an option to create a new folder in which to put your apps in.
In Symbian Anna, the keypad for ‘Call’ was not very user friendly as the ‘*’ and ‘#’ where not where they would be on a physical alphanumerical keypad, but on Belle, the keypad is identical to the physical one and very responsive.
Apps:
While Symbian Anna lagged on the Nokia 500, Nokia Belle is very smooth. I don’t see any major changes with the camera on the 500 and the quality remains the same. There have been some rumors going around about the Nokia 500 getting HD video with the Belle update but these rumors are not true and the Nokia 500 remains with the usual 640p*313p video. While on Symbian Anna, there was no ‘Gallery’ icon but there is one on Symbian Belle and a separate ‘Videos’ icon is there too for easy access to downloaded videos (yes downloaded videos or those NOT taken with the phone’s camera). The angry birds app is a hugely wanted app for the Nokia 500 and is very identical to the computer version. Actually, it IS the computer version in smaller scale. Symbian Belle still allows the user to kill unwanted applications running in the background by holding down the menu key and clicking the ‘X’ icon. Ovi maps on the device is version 3.06 as predicted and even if not version 3.08, it still gets the job done.
The settings menu is the same and nothing major there too. On Symbian Anna, the Nokia 500 has many themes for different colors but on Symbian/Nokia Belle, the 500 only has one “Nokia Evolve” theme which means the users have to download their own themes for personalization.
Overall, the icons seem a bit smaller especially on the home screen and this makes the phone look abit tiny which it is. The size was not brought out in Symbian Anna but in Belle we can see how small the screen on the phone is compared to devices like the E7, N8 and Nokia 701.
With Symbian Belle, the Nokia 500 is able to really show its 1Ghz processor at work and even if it might not be able to play (fancy) 3D games due to the lack of a OpenGL compatible GPU, it can still allow us to play OpenVG games such as “Asphalt 6: Adrenaline” and “Nuke Defender 3D” available from Ovi store.

Great to see you are a happy user. I have just bought two Nokia 500 phones (another for my wife), upgraded to Belle, and both have the same infuriating problems:
- system crashes half a dozen times a day without any warning (during calls, browsing, text messaging)
- if I change the language for text messages, I cannot type anything (SMS) any more
- when phone goes to sleep, it often won't wake up and I need to remove the battery (after doing this 4-5 times a day one starts to get very frustrated).
I am very disappointed and cannot recommend the phone to anyone. First Nokia that I feel this way with.

Hi. I'm using Nokia Social 1.5.215 for Facebook in my nokia C7-00 with Belle. There will be further updates for this application? At the moment with this version I can't receive notifications, an error appears when i try to receive notifications. In the future will be introduced groups for Facebook? Thanks.

A new update 1.5.216 is available from today. Fire up the software update client on your phone or try via Nokia suite on your PC. I just updated via software update ment just a couple of minutes ago and the notifications bug is gone now.

Nokia Social Bug

I've been having problems with my C7 for months, have tried soft resets, hard resets and everything else...
Basically the clock and all homescreen buttons/widgets would stop working - could still access everything from the menu button - restart the phone and all ok for another few hours
When I was just about to throw out the phone I decided since my Nokia Social app never worked properly since I upgraded to Belle to delete it from the homescreen (incase there was a connection) and it's been perfect since!
So nokia, can I go back to the pre Belle version of the Social App? Or can you fix it?
Does anyone else have an older version of the app I can download? The only good thing about it is the straight upload of pics from the gallery to facebook/twitter.

I'm not sure why you're bothering with the Social app when you can use one of the alternatives such as Facinate (sic), the officail Facebook app or Fmobi. The first two are free but Fmobi is a paid app and all are available from Nokia store.

Nokia Social, some other apps not working on 701/B...

I have a 701 on which I recently installed Belle FP1 and the Microsoft Apps.
Immediately after the FP1 upgrade, I think that everything except Google maps worked, but now, a few weeks later, several apps have stopped working, most notably Nokia Social. When I try to start Social, I get the 'welcome to social' screen, then a spinning circle, then Social closes with no error message.
I have similar problems when I try to open Bloomberg and RamInfo apps and a game called color line, all of which worked until recently.
I have deleted and reinstalled all the Social components (1.5.216, available from the store and from the software updater) but it makes no difference. The same is true of the other apps that don't work. I have also reinstalled the FP1 firmware (112.010.1404 via Nokia Suite), which also changes nothing.
Everything else seems to work properly, except that Nokia Maps also sometimes, closes when I try to open it, although it always works on the second or third attempt.
I would be very grateful for any suggestions on how to fix this.

Thanks for your comments. I haven't managed to get it workding yet, although I have discovered one more piece of information. Every time I try to run Social (just the app, not even the widget) the background program 'AllWrtWidgets' stops running. I can only get it running again by re-starting the phone.
How might this be related to my problem, and does it suggest a fix?
I haven't tried a hard reset, because I know from experience that this deletes some apps loaded by Nokia Taiwan (including a very useful English<->Chinese dictionary) which are not reinstalled with a either a new firmware or a backup restore. So after a hard reset I will end up going to Nokia Care anyway, and they will do a fresh install whatever the problem.

My social client was not working so i unistalled it and when i went to install a new one from nokia store, the nokia social client 1.5 was not there.... what should i do now ?

I think that Nokia have pulled it from the Store due to the problem you're experiencing.
Belle came with v1.3 which I immediately tried to update to v1.5 but could not find on the Store a week or so ago. I found the installation .sis elsewhere and installed it but quickly realised there was something wrong when it stopped updating feeds.
I think we just have to sit and wait for another release.

New nokia social 1.4!

I've heared about the new nokia social 1.4 from online news published 01/14/2012 and its support for new features as notifications, events, syncing contacts and dedicated facebook and twitter widgets. I am planning to buy nokia 701 very soon but i wanna ask if this new is still laggy, does it crash and what about the notifications is it push or manual refresh?

Yes dedicated facebook and twitter apps and widgets are there. Nice thing.
701 is not at all lagging. From my experience of 2 months use, the phone is just robust it just won't crash.
Notifications are of course push.
701 is highly recommended. Man it can multitask upto 25 to 32 apps without hanging or slowdown. Well I hardly use 5 apps running.

A BUG in Nokia Social 1.3

I have a problem which i cant seem to fix. I reinstalled my C7's 024.001 firmware today through latest nokia software updater. Everything seems to be working perfectly until i create widget or even if i create facebook or twitter account in 'nokia social app' it keeps on connecting to wifi and its like in every few seconds when wifi switches off it connects to it again. I even reinstalled nokia social but it didnt help except when i delete the app or logout from it completely, only then everything returns to normal. Can anyone PLEASE help me out with it?

The only way I can see it working is if the direct-to-field mapping is writable and the 1:1 is set as read-only since otherwise, if the OBB reference is null, it means the objects PK is null. I'm not sure how it was even queried with a null OBB as it means its OBA.id is null as well. This worked in 904 as it did not correctly validate PKs in the uow - this was fixed through bug 4569755. If you feel this should not have been changed, please file it with support and the fix can be revised.
The way I have mapped this in the past is that tab1 and tab2 are linked using the pks have same name option in the workbench (this makes tab2.id dependent on tab1.id). The OBA object then would have an id attribute that would represent the tab1.id and be writable, and if required, a 1:1 representing the OBB reference that was read only - allowing the OBB reference to be null if OBA entries can exist independently.

"Empty" Select Community screen in Nokia Social 1....

Hi everyone,
Recently I obtained N8 and am trying to use Nokia Social (I tried both 1.1 and 1.2).
In "Select Community" screen, I guess Twitter and Facebook icons or such are supposed to be shown. However in my case, no icons are displayed(only the title "Select community" and "Cancel" button are shown), so I can't choose / set up any social network services at all.
"Add social network" brings me the same empty screen. I tried several uninstall / re-install and hard reset, but the problem won't go away.
Of course I have Twitter / Facebook account, and Nokia account as well.
Do you have any clue?

Traced it back to the operator SIM.
With my operator SIM the Community list stays empty.
I tried a SIM I've purchased while on vacation in the Netherlands and upon starting Social I finally got the option to select either Facebook or Twitter.
The dutch SIM is more than a year inactive, it didn't roam with my local operator and thus I had no GPRS connection. Social was working over WiFi.
After configuring my facebook account and twitter and successfully using it, I tried it again with my Operator SIM but got the message "Your access to the service has expired. To upgrade your service, please contact your operator." when I try to access my facebook account via the Social application!
Either now I have to bark at my GSM Operator to have them upgrade my SIM or enable something in their network or Nokia have to change the Social application so it can work regardless the Operator you may be using!
Hopefully this sheds some light on how to fuurther proceed with this problem!
