Nokia software updater fails

i downloaded a number of times the updater but it shows error 1720 during installation process and fatal error occurs and closes, even tries different language than english UK but it fails to install on my windows xp system.
any idea whats missing in its files and where is the correct file? to be downloaded from?
any help? any idea?

A quick search within the board gave me the solution:
I had the same error when trying to run software updater - turned out to be corrupt repository:
To fix a corrupted WMI repository, you have to reinstall WMI. Follow these steps:
For Windows XP Service Pack 2
Click Start, Run and type the following command:
rundll32 wbemupgd, UpgradeRepository
This command is used to detect and repair a corrupted WMI Repository. The results are stored in the setup.log (%windir%\system32\wbem\logs\setup .log) file.
Please let us know if this solved the problem!

  • Nokia Software Updater fails to run properly

Nokia Software Updater version = 2.4.6en
    Nokia Suite version = 7.1.40.6
Operating System = Vista Ultimate 64bit with SP2
Installed the software updater and restarted as prompted, but whenever I try to run it there's a prompt "You must restart your system for the configuration changes to take effect. Click Yes to restart now, or No if you want to restart later."
If I click Yes, the PC restarts but I get exactly the same prompt the next time I try to run the updater. If I click No, the updater exits. Either way, the updater won't run and let me update my phone's software; how can this be resolved?

I have an nokia E90 V.07.24.0.3 and i want to update it to the last firmware!
    Thank you, Olivier!

I have just encountered the same/similar problem and spent an age trying to find a solution both here and through Google with no success. The good news is that after a bit of trial & error I have managed to resolve the issue with a very simple workaround
When installing NSU, continue through the installation until presented with the error message.
Here, grab a pen and paper and note down the full path of the .DLL causing the problem.
Now continue to install (ignoring the error) by clicking on the right arrow.
Once insallation is complete, open the start menu and select 'Run'
Here you need to type "regsvr32" (without quotation marks) followed by a space then the full path of the file you have noted from the error message. (Note - the path should be in quotation marks). As an example, below is exactly what I typed to resolve my issue
    regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Nokia\Tss\ProductApiLoader\ta_productapiloader.dll"
Now open NSU and update your handset.
Good luck and remember to feed back your results on this thread for the benefit of others.

  • Updating nokia3110c with nokia software updater - ...

I tried to update my nokia3110c with nokia software updater but failed every time. I think it is because of poor quality of my internet connection. My network provider doesn't support the update using phone . Is their any other way to download an install the updates. Because I can download other files without any problem. Or how I can change the settings to fix this problem

If you are unsuccessful at updating your phone via NSU, as it does require a stable and decent internet connection speed as you have stated, then explore other options such as updating at a friend or other family member's house on their computer. If you are still not having any success, then visit your local Nokia Care Centre and get them to update your phone to the latest firmware available.
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

  • Nokia Software Updater, inadequate instructions, 5...

I have to say I am thoroughly disappointed with the Nokia Software Updater. I heard that there was an update to the software on my 5800 so I followed the instruction on the program and did not get what I expected.
I followed every instruction to the letter including having my phone fully charged before beginning the process. After downloading the update the computer then my computer started making the hardware connected and hardware removed noises over and over again with various bubbles coming up to tell me about Nokia Rom and so on. This goes on for about 10 minutes then the program tells me it has lost connection with the phone and the phone says "startup failed, contact retailer". You can imagine at this point I am very unhappy to this has happened.
After following the instructions it then gives to reattempt the update. The computer simply fails to connect to it again and the phone gave the same message.
When I initially plugged in my USB cable the phone asked what mode it should be in and the Software Updater DID NOT SAY what mode it should be in. I thought it would be best to leave it alone then. The computer said the software could be updated so I left it to it.
As far as I can tell now I have a phone that does work though it not turns itself off after random amounts of times.
I wish I had never attempted to use the updater as I think it has damaged my phone.
    Anybody have any advice?
    Very unhappy customer here

if your phone is in warranty, just take it to the service and it will be repaired for free. if not, it may cost between 10 and 50 dollars. don't worry.

Nokia Software Updater has tried downloading the software, but this is failed 4 times.
Its posible that it can be caused by a bad, slow or instable internet connection.

  • Nokia Software Updater not working on Nokia 6120 c...

    My phone is the:
Nokia 6120 classic (RM-243) on the 3 network
    Software Version 3.70.
I was using the Nokia software updater to update my Nokia 6120c.
It found my phone and a new software version 3.83 was available.
I then proceeded to follow the instructions on screen which led to the latest software download to the PC.
Once the download to the PC was complete another screen showed the download to the phone.
The progress bar was stuck on the same 15 seconds and no progress was made.
Another screen was then displayed showing 'phone recovery', with 4 steps available:
1.remove battery and charger from phone
2.insert the battery and insert the charger
    3.click 'retry' to continue
    4.press the phone's power button
After following the steps the same software update screen is displayed showing the progress stuck on 15 seconds. Once that fails the same 'phone recover' screen appears.
I closed the updater application and checked the software version using *#0000# and it still shows the same software version 3.70. No software update occured.

leas give me URL to download old Softwere v3.83 for nokia 6120c because i install v6.01 but i dont really like it  thak you
    hello there,
its is not possible to roll back the firmware. the only way you can update your frimware is to use NSU, for some newer phones FOTA and nokia care points. in very rare instances nokia care points will roll back the firmware but it is at thier discretion and you have to have a really good reason for asking them to do so.
usually alwyas check for the latest nsu, all the drivers and latest version of the pc suite prior to any firmware updates. if your phones are branded to a network, it is up to the network to approve firmware updates prior to release. this might be a reason why some of you are unable to download the latest firmawre for your phones. you can contact your provider and ask them if the latest firmware had been approved by them for release.

  • Nokia Suite and Nokia Software Updater problem

So I tried to synch my calendar and tasks this morning, as I usually do, from my office Windows XP laptop... and the synch failed.
The progress bar that should tell me how far along the synch has got just stayed empty.
After about ten minutes, I quit Nokia Suite, disconnected my phone, and reconnected it.
When I tried to restart Nokia Suite, I got a pop-up:
    Nokia Software Updater is running
Please close Nokia Software Updater , as it stops you from opening Nokia Suite. Then, click Try again.
I looked in Task Manager, and couldn't find Nokia Software Updater...
Any ideas what I can do, other than reboot?
    K.

    Hi Keith_Rhodes,
Sorry to hear about the situation. Please go to "Processes" sheet in Task Manager. Close the process Nokia Software Updater.
You can also go to Nokia Suite > Tools > Options > General > Automatically download software updates > Disable it. Try to sync again.
If it still fails, please tick " Nokia Suite > Tools > Options > General > Start collecting logs, in case the issue does not get resolved and you have to contact Nokia Care line and they need them.
Please let me know how you get along!

  • N97 Software Updater - Fails to find device...

    Hi all,
Hoping someone will be able to help...pardon the waffle, but I'll try and be as specific as possible.
I have a Nokia N97 and I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium on my PC.
Every time I try to delete a photo on my N97 I receive the message "General: System Error" - I can't take any photos now...and my phone memory is FULL to capacity (2.0ish Mb free) even though all my photos are saved to mass memory and I can't actually SEE any files in my phone memory folders when I explore them in PC Suite.
I checked the support forums and it was suggested I needed new firmware because the original was buggy.
So off I went to Software Updater on my PC.
On previous occasions, Nokia Software Updater has found my phone without any problems. However, today I plugged it in again and although PC Suite works fine, Software Updater is failing to find my device when it is "Searching for connected device"...
Again, I checked the forums. I have uninstalled both PC Suite and Software Updater, reinstalled them and tried again. Still no recognition of my device via USB (PC Suite mode) in Nokia Software Updater.
On my device I've hit the SW Update and the only one listed is a small optional Messaging update which I don't have the phone memory to install anyway. I don't have any apps installed, no games, nothing other than photos, a few music albums, messages and contacts.
Any and all suggestions would be fantastic - many thanks in advance...

I can't actually SEE any files in my phone memory folders when I explore them in PC Suite.
USB Mass Storage Mode open in Windows Explorer .

  • Nokia Software Updater - nsl_host_process.exe - ns...

    I get the following message
"Nokia Software Updater has attempted to connect to the internet but has failed three times. This could be because of a poor-quality, slow, or intermittent internet connection, or restrictions due to a firewall
If requested by your firewall, Nokia Software Updater needs the following applications to gain access to the internet:
    nsl_host_process.exe
    nsu_ui_client.exe"
I have a good internet connection.
    I have disable my Firewall!
    What else could be wrong?
Please I need urgent Help!!! (If possible in Portuguese)

I almost don't believe it. It looks like they did again. RM-357. First there is an update (which I find out about by accident, not from Nokia despite signing up for their MyNokia email), but Nokia Support Updater gives faulty and inaccurate error messages about trying to connect three times and failing, or about a firewall issue (which was turned off and had allowed access to the required files anyway) and about Internet connection speed (which is high, and as high for a friend of my who also has an e71 but a different RM number) to update. Time wasted trying to troubleshoot a Nokia problem.
Then, again without notification, the update disappears. Suddenly 200.XX is the latest version. Then, and again without notification. 300.XX reappears. With the same errors. Looks at my phone, tells me there's an update, then won't download and install. Two different computers, two different highspeed connections, latest Nokia PC Suite version.
As I said earlier, I would rather have no update than waste my time with one poorly rolled out, especially since this phone is aimed a business users who want their phone to work and can't waste time trying to make Nokia's software work. This is definitely souring my experience of the first, and at this point, probably last, Nokia I will buy. Perhaps Nokia has forgotten there are a couple of other companies (Blackberry, Apple) that also make pretty good devices, and seem to have update systems that function. Why do I learn of updates for the iPhone more easily than for the one I own?
    Get your act together Nokia.
