Nokia Suite won't upgrade without SIM card

I used the Nokia (N95_1) four years ago as a phone, so I cannot remember where I stored the itty bitty Rogers SIM card or if I threw it away. Now I have this problem with the Nokia Suite not upgrading firmware without the sim card.
I use nokia now mostly as a GPS and a Wi-fi net browsing device, so I would like to get the new map version since the current one (v3.01 09wk44 b01) keeps crashing when synchronizing favs. I downloaded the .sis file from softpedia (v3.03 10wk11 b04) but get certificate errors when trying to install it. Does anybody know where can I get a signed map, latest version for nokia n95, with a fix for the sync crash? (It does get sync'ed but closes every time)
The Nokia online map is a great idea - the integration with the mobile is great, since it would be a hassle to type the whole address plus phone number with the tiny nokia keypad, so I just enter it on my desktop pc and sync it with mobile, no need for Windows, I can do it with Linux, just need a browser.
Nokia Suite is another story, there's no way to get it working without Windows
Just one major complaint - 9 out of 10 searches I do on the online Nokia map give no results, so I need the help of Google or Yahoo maps to enter the approximate location on the Nokia Map manually. Last search was for "Kim Phat" in Brossard, QC, a grocery store - you'll find it in every other map, except for nokia.
If Yahoo maps is powered by Nokia, how come nokia online maps does not bring the same search results? I'd rather have my mobile integrated with Yahoo maps instead.
Still wanting that signed nokia map 3.03 or 3.04...
Thanks for reading.

@noki_dding
Be aware that Nokia_Maps_3.01_09wk44_b01 is the most recent version for your N95 and do not have any issue synchronising with Ovi upon mine.
Presumably you have updated your map data to the latest 0.1.28.106?
Unfortunately any device has to be "General" profile to update device firmware using Nokia Suite or Nokia Software Updater.

  • Nokia Suite won't find Nokia 5610 on bluetooth

Hello, I recently upgraded from Nokia Ovi Suite to Nokia Suite and after I did that, Nokia Suite won't find my 5610 by bluetooth. I tried uninstall and reinstall Nokia Suite but no results. I noticed however that Nokia 5610 has been removed from the compatibility list with Nokia Suite. Does this mean 5610 won't work with Nokia Suite? I've also updated my bluetooth drivers but no effect.
    Regards

    Hi tokenize,
Very much welcome to the Nokia Discussions Forum! Download Nokia PC suite and try the connection with that.
You can also take a look at this page and see if downloading bluetooth drivers from there helps. 5610 has indeed been removed from Nokia Suite compatibility list.
Hope you're able to connect your to the PC now.

  • How to Do Verification Of iPhone 4s Without SIM Card

Kids by mistake restored my iPhone 4s to it's factory setting, now I can't use it as to check my e-mails or anything else, please can anyone help me and tell me how to veryfy my iphone without sim card, whenever I turn on my iphone it's asking for verification?

You mean activate it? You can't activate any GSM iPhone without a valid sim card in the phone. If you don't have one, you have no choice but to get one. Borrow one if you have to.

after updating to iOS 6.0.1 my iphone 3s won't recognize my SIM card. i updated my phone through iTunes, what happened to my phone?

If it now says "invalid" or "unsupported" SIM, your iPhone was almost certainly hacked to unlock it from the original cell carrier and updating has now removed that hack and the iPhone has relocked back to that original carrier. You will have to contact that carrier and ask if it would be possible to get your iPhone officially unlocked.

  • How do i update to the latest ios7 without sim card

I tried to update me old iphone 4 that doesn't have any sim.
I am using this phone as a security camera and was wondering how can I achieve the update without sim card.
Any help is appreciated. PS I tried the one in google (ios7 beta) but in the latest version it wouldn't work
    Thanks in advance

Beta software is not discussed here as it is only for paid developers to discuss in the developers forum and anybody who is not a paid developer has an illegal copy.
In terms of updating this can be done by either method shown in the article below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4623
Note: you will be able to update but you wont be able to activate the iPhone as it needs a sim to activate.

Are you looking for the serial number or the IMEI? If the phone was active on your Verizon acount, Verizon can give you the IMEI.

There should be a SIM eject tool in the box.  Insert in the small hole on the right hand side of the iPhone to eject the tray. You have to get the correct angle.
I do not believe that a SIM eject tool has been provided for the past couple of years.

  • How do i activate my iphone 4 without sim card?

i need help activating my iphone 4 without sim card please help

iPhones require a SIM for activation. The SIM does not need to be active but must be for the carrier the device is locked to.

Just got a used iphone 3gs and it won't see my sim card what can I do

Seems your story has changed... not seeing is not the same as not supported.
If the phone is carrier locked, you need a SIM from the carrier it's locked to to activate it.  The sim does not have to be active, it just has to be one from that carrier.

  • My nokia C3 did'nt accept any sim card without ufo...

    Nokia C3-00

Sounds like it might have something to do with the placement or condition of the SIM card, always found that did the trick for me on some older S40 devices. Anyways before checking the condition of your phone, have you checked if there are any firmware updates available for your device via Nokia Suite? if there is, please update to the latest version offered. Failing this, try to Restore your phone to factory settings, and if that doesn't work, then you will need to take your phone to your local Nokia Care for them to inspect: http://nokia.com/support

  • Activate non phone functions without SIM card?

I have an original iPhone where the screen was broken in an accident. I replaced that phone with a 3G. AT&T switched out the SIM card to activate the new phone. The old phone is (or was) still functional much like an iPod touch (with a shattered screen) with no SIM card present. As expected none of the phone related functions would work, but the iPod and functions over a wireless LAN would work just fine... until I updated to the 2.2 software. During the update process iTunes tries to initialize the phone but can't without a SIM card. I now seem to have worthless paper weight with a shattered screen. How can I get back the iPod functionality that I had? Will it cause problems to remove the SIM from the 3G temporarily to activate the original phone... then put it back?
    thanks
    Bob Smith

Activation is needed to get iTunes to "talk" to the phone and for any operation at all. Once activated it will continue to function just fine without a SIM card until you do something like I did where I tried to update the software. The updating process reinitializes the phone and requires it to be reactivated with the cell network in order to complete the process. That won't happen without a SIM card installed
I just took the SIM card out of my 3G phone and placed it in the original phone. That allowed it to be activated and show in iTunes. I then shut that phone down, took the card out and put it back into the 3G phone. That phone continues to work as always. Without the SIM card, the original phone works on any function that does not require the phone network... iTunes... mail or web browsing over a wireless network etc. It can be plugged in and synced with iTunes normally. It just can't use the phone network and apparently can't upgrade it's software without going through this simple process again.

  • Upgraded my SIM Card-less iPhone 3G to iOS 4.2.1 and... [please help]

My mom bought an iPhone 3G a couple of years ago. Eventually she decided that the monthly bill for it was too expensive, so she discontinued the service. It no longer has a SIM Card. She now uses it as an iPod Touch. It was running iOS 3.1, so today I decided to upgrade it to iOS 4.2.1 for her. I downloaded the upgrade on iTunes, then I installed it and left for about 20 minutes.
When I came back, the iPhone displayed a screen with a picture of a USB cable and the iTunes logo that said "No SIM card installed - Insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate iPhone." On iTunes, it said "There is no SIM card in the iPhone you are attempting to activate - Please disconnect and insert a SIM card in the iPhone.
I need to know if there is anything I can do. Can I take a take a SIM card from another AT&T phone and put it in the iPhone temporarily so I can activate it, then remove the SIM card and put it back in the original phone without any problems? Is there a way to get around the activation process without the need to replace any SIM cards? Is there anything at all that I can do to go back to using the iPhone 3G as an iPod Touch?
    Please give me any suggestions.

  • Iphone 3G operational without sim card

    Hi
I'm about to upgrade my O2 xda to iphone 3G, however was wondering if at the end of the O2 contract when I upgrade to another new phone, will the iphone 3G still operate as an ipod/pda without the phone functionailty. (ie.without a functioning sim card inside).
    Thanks
    Kiran

i haven't tried taking mine out, but I've locked it with a PIN, and all non cell network functions work, including Wi-Fi (but not localization).

  • Restoring iPhone 2g 8gb without SIM card

I recently changed over to the 3G iPhone and am going to sell my 2g. I took the SIM card out of it before I restored it, which may have been a mistake. Now it won't let me get to the main screen of the iPhone without activating the service through AT&T again. I don't want to do this, because my service is already activated through AT&T on my 3G. Is it fine to sell like this without a sim card? Or what do I need to do to get things back to the way they were?

Need a sim in the iPhone. It does not have to be an
active sim; but if the iPhone is locked to a wireless
provider, the sim does have to be from that wireless provider.

  • How do I first activate unlocked iPhone without sim card?

I got an unlocked iphone 5C today.  The first thing it asked for was the internet access.  After that it is looking for the sim card and won't let me do anything else.  I don't have one yet, and thought I could use the phone without it.  How do I go on activating the phone without the sim card?

" So if I need a sim card, why did they offer to set it up for me? "
    Really?
So it would be set up for you.
You don't have a SIM card?
What network are you going to use?
