  • Annoyed with Nokia support

    I purchased a brand new Nokia E55 on 16-September 2009 and from day 1 it did not work. it would freeze up, restart and refuse to even software update.
    I went to Nokia care in Melbourne and they gave me a replacement (refurbished) unit after 1 week.
    Withing minutes of walking out of the centre it restarted. I could not belive my eyes!!! After another week of carefull observation , and swapping sims from 4 different networks to makes sure its not my sim, I took it back to teh Melbourne nokia customer care centre and I was told to call Nokia care line to receive a new phone.
    I went home and called the 1300 number and was told that Melbourne customer care should have raised the ticket and that I had to go back again.
    So I went back to Melbourne Nokia centre and they told me the ticket would not come in from the CC for another 48 hours and to come back again!!!!
    Every time I visited nokia customer care in Melbourne it cost me 1 hour from work, thats 5 visits!!! and they wanted me to go back after 48 hours because their systems dont update????
    In the end the girl took my phone in and I have been waiting for the past 4 weeks to get a new one.
    Nokia care cannot give me a delivery date for the handset.
    Meanwhile Im using an old LG pre paid handset to take my calls while i pay for diversion costs to my other number.
    I have paid over $500 for the E55 and am annoyed with the level of service from Nokia, especially their call centre somehere in asia , who fail to understand how much this is costing me GRRRRRRR
    I could have bought an LG or samsung and got better quality and service.
    I will never buy Nokia again and will encourage others to look elsewhere.

  • Removal of software from Nokia Support

    I have a Nokia 9210 that was upgraded some two+ years ago - I was greatly dismayed tonight when I needed to download some software to it to find out that Nokia have taken the support software from the web sites. To date I have found the Nokia support team to be very helpfull, but this is a disaster. I can get the software for my 9500 but badly need the help with the 9210i. Anyone got any thoughts the original disks are missing and it was upgraded anyway so they would be of little value to me. Advice or software including games out there?? Tom

  • I was a Nokia supporter before Anna

    Yes, i was a Nokia supporter before the cursed day i decided to install Anna on my N8.
    It all started with the Phone Configuration not supported message at startup, then it continued with me being unable to install the two other update packages (Symbian Anna 1/2 and Symbian Anna 2/2).
    I tried everything i found on the Net (apart from putting it in the microwave oven...):
    - install the qt stuff
    - install the Nokia Sleep from OVI
    - Doing very hard (it was nearly porn.....) resets at least 5 times
    - Deleting the folder inside E:\Private
    - Jumpin' three times landing on my left knee, then raised my left arm, put the thumb up for three seconds, then closed my left eye for three seconds and finally turned the N8 on with the right side of my tongue.
    Is there anybody in Nokia that can help me out or i just have to use my smartphone as a dullphone and wait for my next not-nokia mobile?
    Sorry if i am ranting, but honestly my customer experience is really painful: i think all the complexity must not rely on the customer. While updating the software of a tablet, i didn't had a single problem. Is that so hard to achieve?
    Please help me getting a solution for my problem...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Have you tried following our official troubleshooting advice when it comes to those "installation failed" errors, which could happen because of a conflicting QT version on your phone? (Ps. Who did tell you to install Sleeping Screen to sort the problem?!)
    FA136073: Why can’t I download Symbian Anna application packages (Installation fails)?
    The reason for this is most likely a problem with existing QT files on your phone. Please try the following:
    A) Solution1 – especially if you have “Nokia bubbles” on your phone
    -          Install the following QT files on the C: drive of your phone in exactly this sequence
            * http://dl.nokia.com/ns/sdo/QtSA4.7.301.sisx
            *http://dl.nokia.com/ns/sdo/QtWebkitSA4.8.0.sisx
            *http://dl.nokia.com/ns/sdo/QtMobilitySA1.1.301.sis
    -          While you install above QT files you MUST keep the following things in mind:
    *Installation must be done to C: drive of the phone. If you by mistake select E: drive, you can cancel the installation and re-install again. If E: drive installation is complete, you can re-install one more time and select C: drive for installation.
    *Installation order must be met. First it has to be QT (QtSA4.7.301.sisx).
    -          Open the software update client on your phone via Menu>Applications>(Tools>)Softwareupdate
    -          Select the shown Symbian Anna application packages and start the update
    B) Solution2:
    - Launch the File manager on your phone (Typically found: Menu -> Applications -> Office -> File mgr.)
    - Choose Options -> Find -> E: Mass memory -> Root folder
    - In the “Find text:” window, type “*.sisx” (without double quote) and the select find.
    - It will display many sisx files starting with “TMP”. Example: TMP3efa4.sisx.
    - Now select Options -> Mark multiple items  and now mark all sisx starting with “TMP”.
    - After marking them select Options -> Delete and delete all of them.
    - Now tap the Clock on your homescreen and change the date of your phone to next day (via Settings). For example, if todays date is 6th Nov, then set the date to 7th Nov. This is needed to clear the software update cache and make new updates visible.
    - Open the “SW update” application.
    - Select the shown Symbian Anna application packages and start the update

  • Nokia Support Discussions launched

    Welcome to Nokia Support Discussions. This service was launched at the beginning of November 2005 on the Nokia UK website, and for the next few weeks we'll be gathering feedback and refining the service before bringing it to other Nokia websites. We hope you find this a useful tool for sharing tips and ideas with other Nokia phone owners - just register to start posting.
    Thanks -

    This is not related to the NSD site but other official NOKIA Sites. There seems to be something drastically wrong with the new look sites providing various information..
    For e.g.
    When I Googgle for 'Nokia PC Suite' see where it leads to in the Attachment 'Nokia PC Suite'
    When I Google for 'Nokia C6-00 Specs' it puts in to a loop as seen in Attachment 'Nokia C6-00'.
    These are just 2 examples against many more seen.
    ...or am I doing something wrong ???
    Also think that the Earlier Sites were more informative..
    e.g. the Nokia Suite download site provided compatibility list regarding the PC's OS as well as the Nokia devices that are compatible with the Suite.. Can not find these details now..

  • Nokia support for MONOSPACE font

    Nokia support for MONOSPACE font
    hi,
    Perhaps Im going mad but my Nokia 60series emulator and 7650 device doesnt seem to support a font with face: MONOSPACE.
    setting a font to MONOSPACE in the default WTK emulator correctly spaces all characters equally. However when I run my code on a Nokia emulator or device, the spaces of characters are unequal and their widths remain unchanged from the SYSTEM face settings.
    If anyone can help with a solution or explanation, pleeezzzz
    thanks in advance,
    Larry

    Not every device has every type of font. When you ask for a specific font, and the font doesn't exist then the system will find the best match for it.
    The only way to be sure you have a monospace font on every device is that you include that font yourself, and draw your own characters using drawImage() with that font.

  • When will Nokia support NTLM proxy authorization?

    They Proxy server should use NTLM. When will Nokia support NTLM proxy authorization?

    My personal guess: Never.
    You can also change the question to: When will Microsoft stop requiring the use of Microsoft-proprietary technologies and support open standards?
    If the Microsoft proxy server you use already does support non-Microsoft standards, then ask your proxy server administrators to enabled such support.

  • Problems Contacting nokia support using complaint ...

    I am in need of contacting Nokia support to make a complint about a recent repair to my Lumia 620 when only one of two items was repaired and the phone returned with  a further issue.  I have tried using the webform for the past 2 days and despite all fields being completed it returns me an error validating this message ensure all mandatory fields are filled in message.
    This is obvioulsy frustrating as I feel that I am unable to lodge a complaint as there are no contact numbers or e-mails.
    If someone can suggest the next step then I would be most grateful (my nearest Nokia Care Store is over 60 miles away)

    There are contact details here in case you haven't tried http://www.nokia.com/gb-en/contact/
    Would also suggest trying social media, Nokia have great representation on both Twitter and Facebook .
    Good luck

  • Nokia 808 headset: Advice please. (Nokia support s...

    The WH-209 headset that came with my phone was sadly destroyed. It seems the WH-209 is unavailable anywhere except by buying an 808.
    Nokia support have three times told me that the WH-208, which looks identical to the WH-209, is compatible with the 808. But it doesn't seem to be. I went to the trouble of getting one, and it's not supported by the 808 but does work with an Android phone. Research that I've done since suggests that the WH-208 is made for the Lumia 800, which uses the AHJ standard rather than the OMTP standard.
    Or maybe I'm wrong?
    Anyway:
    1. What's a good, available, headset that works with the 808?
    2. Or is there an AHJ to OMTP adapter that would let me use my newly purchased headset with the 808?
    Thanks for any help.

    WH-209 is an old headset used upon a variety of previous devices as here:http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0086LTIN0/ref=asc_df_B0086LTIN02318844?smid=A22QQRQRS0T6NJ&tag=dealtmp3868...

  • How to get the most from Nokia Support Discussions

    This forum is a community of users of Nokia products and services from around the world who share their experiences and help people to solve problems. I've been using this forum for a couple of years now, I originally joined because I work in telecomms and I was looking for answers to a few issues that I was experiencing, and like many of the regular members, I've been coming here ever since. There is a really good crowd here, and it is often fun to read the boards as well as informative.
    If you have a problem, if nobody else can help, and if you can find us (it's not hard, Discussions all over Google whenever you search for something Nokia-related), then maybe you can hire: The D Team!
    The communityThis is a peer-to-peer community, you are usually dealing with people who have an interest in mobile technology, albeit with a particular preference to Nokia, who can help on a wide range of questions - the advantage that we have as a community is that many users have experience of a range of devices and accessories, so you can often get help here about issues concerning Nokia products being used with products from other companies that even Nokia itself cannot offer. There has also recently been a presence of Nokia staff (their usernames are shown in green) who are also helping users on the forum in their own time.
    Unlike many forums that we all use regularly, this is an official forum owned and run by Nokia, not the creation of amateur enthusiasts like you and I, so they are much more strict about behaviour than other forums, and the moderators will remove anything that is offensive or disrespectful to other users, or which may cause offence to users of a sensitive nature. Basically, you should treat other users the way you could treat another member of the public in a public place - too many people take advantage of the anonymity offered by the internet to behave in a way that they would not normally do.
    This forum is not a source of official support from Nokia, for that you have to call or e-mail from the "Contact us" link. Most of us are just normal consumers like you, therefore we don't have information on when products, services, software updates etc. will be available so it's futile to ask. Nokia doesn't even publish this information in most cases, so even the Nokia employee members probably wouldn't be able to answer these sorts of questions even if they do have the information.
    Tips for getting your question answered:
     (1) Search firstSomebody else may already have posted the same question, so you can save yourself time by checking first if the answer you need is already published on the forum.
    (2) Choose the right boardPeople are online at different times, we may be taking a break from our work, relaxing at home after a meal, flicking back to the forum whilst doing other surfing on the 'net or anything else, and people will look in boards where they have a specific personal interest so, for example, if you have a problem playing a video on your N96 use the Imaging and videos board in the Ovi and Mobile Media section or if you have a problem installing themes or applications on your 6220 Classic, use the Phone Applications under Software. Posting these questions on the Nseries and S60 smartphones board might see them get lost amongst lots of technical questions about the phone itself, you have a better chance of getting an answer by choosing the right place to ask it.
    (3) Write a clear titleSpeaking for myself, I don't have time to read everything on the boards, so I look for topics that I might be able to answer; therefore don't just put the subject as a phone model number or the name of an application or users might just pass over your post without opening it to read. For example, a title like "Can't get GPS signal in 5800" is much more likely to catch the attention of an experienced GPS user or a 5800 user and get the question answered quicker.
    (4) Explain your problem clearlyPhones and the software that we use in them and with them grow ever more complex, just saying "I can't send an SMS" or "Mr camera isn't working" does not give any information with which an experienced user can help you to troubleshoot. Whatever the case, explain exactly what you are trying to achieve, what you tried, and describe what happened, for example: did an application shut itelf down? Did the phone freeze? Was there an error message, and if so what was it? All of this will help other users to identify what is going wrong for you and the less questions they have to ask you back, the quicker they might help you.
    Tips for making the right impression:
     (5) Use normal textWRITING ENTIRELY IN CAPITALS does not convey a sense of urgency, in internet communities it is perceived as shouting or other generally agressive behaviour, so it will not win the hearts and minds of the people whose help you need. Also, using large characters or bright colours may look nice to you, but too much text written in very large, bold or colourful letters can simply fill the screen unnecessarily and is not always any easier to read, so it can also put people off from helping you. Use these features when you need to highlight a particular point, not all of the time.  (6) Resize imagesIf you are embedding a picture in your post, resize it so that it fits into the frame of the normal page. A full screenshot of your PC or a megapixel+ picture will stretch the borders of the page so far that people have to scroll left and right repeatedly to read not only your post, but the entire page of the thread that it is on, and just as above, if you make it difficult for others to read the thread, they could miss some information or just pass over it altogether. If you want to share a large image, you can also add it as an attachment to the post so that people can view it when they choose without impacting on the display of the page for everybody.
    (7) Pleeeeaaaaazzzzeeee don't do thisFar from making most users take pity on you and try to help you, this kind of thing can be just as bad as all capitals, especially is you make a word so long that it affects the display of the page like inserting large images does. You are also better off not using SMS shorthand and local slang in your posts, because users of the boards are from all over the world and might be speaking English as a second, third, etc. language, so the person who knows the exact solution to your question might not understand the way you have asked it.

    You mention it is a DV/HDV Film - how did you edit it? Did you edit both formats on the same timeline in Final Cut? (What were the settings in Final Cut for the timeline?)
    If you are using HDV in a timeline due to the length of time to conform the output, you may be better off exporting the entire thing for testing (small enough for HDV, though I often use AIC or 422 nowadays).
    What settings are you using in Compressor? I know you mentioned many combinations, but did you use any frame controls? What was the rate? Did you use CBR/VBR?
    One thing to try to get things started. Use 8 CBR and in the frame controls set them to to "Better" for all of them. Will take a bit longer using the filters but should give you an idea where you are at. (Also take a look at the self contained movie to see if there are any artifacts/picels there).
    How are you watching the DVD - computer screen or burning to a DVD?

  • Nokia support hopeless, Nokia Browser a joke!

    There is a problem with Nokia Browser on the Nokia Asha 300.
    The problem is that the browser does not clear cookies when the user toggles 'clear cookies'.
    The PHP script bellow will demonstrate Nokia Browser's failure to clear cookies.
    What the PHP script does is generate a random number to a variable within the cookie session. As long as you are using the cookie it creates, then PHP will not generate a new random number. You can see this by hitting refresh - the number will not change.
    If you visit the page (script) on Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome etc and then delete the cookie, a new random will generate.
    If you visit the page (script) on Nokia Browser and then clear cookies, returning to the page does not generate a new number. This shows that Nokia Browser in fact is not clearing cookies.
    <?php
        session_start();
        if empty($_SESSION['randomnumber']) {
            $_SESSION['randomnumber'] = rand(1, 100);
        echo $_SESSION['randomnumber'];
    ?>
