Nokia Updater Software Setup

I am trying to install the Nokia Updater Software and I keep receiving:
Error Reading Setup Initialization File
There is an update available from V 3.0638.0.0.1
My N73(8) was purchased in Saudi Arabia the product code is 0529785.
The new software availability is: V 3.0649.0.0.1 .
How in the world am I going to get the Updater Software to run? I deleted and tried to re-install. Still NOTTA.

First, uninstall any occurrences of PC Suite and Windows Installer (if available) in the Add/Remove Programs. Then re-download PC Suite on a local (not network) hard drive just to avoid any transfer errors and installation failures:

The PC Suite download for version 7.1.18.0 is 33 642 704 bytes in size. Check it under the Properties of the file.
Download and install the the latest version of Windows Installer (for Windows XP SP3, 32 bits, it is WindowsXP-KB942288-v3-x86.exe:

Restart and try installing PC Suite again.
I've searched the Net for similar error and most often it was because of installation from a network drive... Hope you'll have success!

Nokia Update Software just refuse to install

Hi there,
I would like to update my 6288 firmware but can't since the phone doesn't seem to have the first updating option, aka OTA option.
There is the second option : Menu ---> Settings ---> Phones ---> Phones Update ---> Install Software Update.
But I can't do that since I don't have the last firmware and can't find it anywhere on Nokia website.
So I tryed the third option. The Nokia Update Software option but guess what ? It's NSU who don't install because of some error. I've these error codes :
1) Install Shield Error 1603.
2) And then this second error :
I would appreciate if someone was ready to help to use one of these 3 option.
1) OTA Update
2) Direct Update from the phone menu ( the best one I guess )
3) Helping me to install properly NSU in order to finally doing the firmware update.

P.S : Club Nokia smartly told me to uninstall NSU and to reinstall it. I had already tryed this solution before emailing them.Message Edited by antares on 14-May-200710:35 PM

Were you trying to upgrade PC Suite to 6.83 rel_14.1 from a previous version?
If you've not used Nokia Software Updater before is Windows NET 2.0 or 3.0 FRAMEWORK installed? If you've loaded every Windows Update it is probably there, but is not a critical update and not on Xp install CD.
I wonder whether remnants of previous version remain and perhaps you need to use Windows Installer Cleanup Utility - msicuu2.exe as mentioned in above article
If you try to uninstall PC Suite 6.83 rel_14.1 you can remove core application but cable driver portion remains; these programs are "Nokia Connectivity Cable Driver" and "PC Connectivity Solutions"

Nokia Updater - not downloading update.

Hello. While I was downloading the updates today for my n95 it got to 80mb out of the 113mb or whatver it is.
Anyway, I lost internet connection and it never finished downloading the update.
The phone is fine and still works a treat, however. Whenever I go to update to firmware v12 it does not even search or try to download the updates anymore. It just tries to install the update.
I have searched high and low on my computer and deleted all my temp files and re-installed all nokia update software but it still skips the download part and goes straight to install.
And of course, it fails.
Any ideas?

i have updated my nokia 5130c xpress music with version v7.97. after updation i got that my music player's library updation speed get more faster then before but i have lost screen saver option and also lost power saver option. my music player also become unstable it take more time to change between tracks. net also gone slower. i request to nokia to release a new version of software with all the features like (screen saver, power saver and also with solution of all these problems).

i tried your nokia update for my phone and it failed....now i can turn on my phone...im hoping your gonna fix this problem...since everything was fine until i tried to update it....i did not pull out any cables....i left the phone in....and it said that the update failed...now i cant see anything on my phone

i went to a nokia care center and they told me the phone was not under warrenty and that i would have to pay for it to be fixed. There are already so many discussions about installation of NSU and PCSuite, that is better for you do a little search and see if you find your solution. But, just my guess, could be a registry problem...

i have nokia 6270 an recently downloaded the software update for it,when i tried to update my phone while updating it gets disabled from my startup menu.and it give the error unable to find phone,i tried it many times but the same error occurs.
plz help me how to update my nokia 6270 software.

Well, after being advised by Vodafone Customer Service to take it to a Vodafone shop to get it fixed else they will have to take it away for repairs, so I did.
Vodafone staff says, we don't fix, but we can send it away for u.....
So, back to square one.
1. My phone has lost the bottom 2 touch icons due to a phone update
2. So, I tried using Nokia Software Update on my PC, configutation error - Darn!
3. So I use Nokia Ovi Suite - Cannot update - doubledarn!!
Anyone has a [v40.0.003] file for Nokia 5230 that I can download direct onto my PC then copy to my phone for installation?

Error updating nokia 6300 software

Heloo
I tried o update my nokia 6300 device, I downloaded the program from the net! It was ok, untill i tryed to update my phone! Apperars a screen, which says:Updating software, pls w8:
and then don't panic.Everything happes ok,my screen blanked. But the Estimated time remained 15 min. I dont touch nothing, but 20 minutes later it says taht it cant find my phone, i have to try to reconnect it, pick out my battery an so... bla bla
I tried everything but it couldn't find 2nd time my device, and my device isn't turning on! Please help, what can I do??
NEED HELP URGENT, I don't wanna pay for repairt it, as this device ins't mine ((((((

Look in the "Pool of Knowledge" board. The second topic there is "Recovering from a failed update".
If that doesn't work then you'll have to take the phone into a Nokia Care Point for repairs. The good news is, if the phone is under warranty, that the fix and the update will be free of charge.

Error code 12017,nokia e66 software updation fails

The following errors occours when i want to update nokia e66 software
i was updating my phone software,during updating something wrong done,due to this
1- My mobile phone files mmssync and contact group ds plugin corrupted.
2- When i update my phone software through nokia suit, nokia suit try to install mmssync and contact group ds plugin but gives error msg files are corrupted.
3- when nokia suit download phone software and begin to install it,then usb cable disconneced then after some time connected.
please tell me what should i do.my phone model is nokia e66

I doubt that it will fix your firmware installation problem, but I did once have a problem where a "DS Plugin" became corrupt. The fix is to manually delete the bad program(s) in Application Manager (possibly in Control Panel -> Application Manager -> Installed Apps). This is perfectly safe. Delete "Contact Group DS Plugin" and probably "MMSync", too, then reboot the phone and reconnect it to Nokia Suite. The plugins should then install normally. I hope that helps.

i recently updated my nokia 6125 software from 3.50 to 3.72.
but after updation i am facing following problems:
- i lost the calculator as that being an application, could not be stored in back up. & now my phone is with a calculator. & all the J2ME calculator i could find on internet were below expectations. so would anyone please tell me the solution that i may get the original nokia calculator as download or link to some other user friendly calculator (J2ME).
- the customised wallpaper & tone settings are lost after every switch-off.
anyone please help me out.

Well i am afraid now only way to get back calculator application is to go to the Nokia authorized service center.

Nokia 6120C Software Update

Hi Guys,
My problem with the updater is that it says current version 3.83 new version 6.01(so there is comms to my phone) it then downloads the 76 Mb file and then says updating software, Estimated time 15 minutes and then nothing happens thereafter. It is as if it has lost comms with the phone. Does anybody know what the problem may be.

remove all software components and reinstall new, make sure you remove all the drivers and reinstall both nokia pc suite and nokia software updater, reboot your system and try again and see if it makes any difference.
